Dialogue[edit]
- Received upon completing War Eternal story the first time
Gorrik Come quick! Commander! Please return to Dragonfall with all possible haste. Something strange is going on with the skyscales and I need your assistance. The necessary measures will involve getting close to the beasts, and... well, my attempts to do so have resulted in rather painful wounds. You forged a rapport with them, so you are uniquely qualified for the endeavor. Please hurry back to Dragonfall. —Gorrik |
- Approaching Gorrik
- Gorrik: Not a moment too soon, Commander. The skyscale situation is intensifying. They're experiencing a pronounced dysecdysis.
- Initial Dialogue
- Gorrik: Not a moment too soon, Commander. The skyscale situation is intensifying. They're experiencing a pronounced dysecdysis.
- Dyze-what?
- A drastically abnormal shedding or molting cycle. Now, I know what you're thinking—how do we know what's abnormal in a species that's never existed before?
- That's a good place to start.
- All I can say is, what i'm observing would be a clear-cut indication of disease among all other reptilia. From Acrochordus granulatus to Vermicella annulata
- Go on.
- There may be something we can do, but I'll need freshly shed samples of the skyscales'...uh, scales. Only that will provide the data to diagnose.
- Go on.
- Now being that, one, they seem averse to my proximity, and, two, I would prefer to keep all my fingers, might you procure the needed specimens? In the name of science?
- I'm in. Where should I go?
- Superb! Scales can be found across the area. Oh, and we need a broad-spectrum medication to bolster the afflicted skyscales' immune systems. Bring me these ingredients, and I'll prepare it.
- Sure thing. Hang tight. (Unlock Newborn Skyscales, Skyscale Medicine and Skyscale Scales achievements)
- No thanks, Gorrik.
- I must be going.
- I must be going.
- I must be going.
- Not right now. Maybe later.
- After collecting the scales and medicine
- Gorrik: Welcome back, Commander. I've made considerable progress on my end.
- Here. Fresh skyscale scales and the raw materials for the medicine.
- Excellent. Now, give me a moment to prepare the medicine...
- Go on.
- Ah, here we are. This may not cure the skyscales, but with any luck it will slow the affliction's march. Go administer it to the population while I study these scales.
- I'm on it. (Unlocks Skyscale Fever achievement)
- Maybe later. I gotta run.
- Show me my progress. (Opens Newborn Skyscales achievement window)
- Not yet.
- After completing Skyscale Fever
- Gorrik: You're back! Uh, great. So, a new hypothesis has come to light that, well, makes the meds you administered, um, moot.
- Come again?
- To be plain, what ails the skyscales is no mere illness—some force appears to be aging them prematurely. They're dying of old age, and there's nothing we can do to stop it.
- How is that possible?
- If I'm right, the unnatural means by which they were created, already at full maturity, has kicked their aging processes into overdrive.
- Go on.
- Successive generations will likely not be burdened with this ailment, provided they're birthed naturally. But that may prove difficult if there are no skyscales left alive to rear them.
- Go on.
- Unless we intervene, the skyscales will almost certainly fail to produce a second generation. The probability of extinction is quite high.
- So we intervene. What can we do?
- Not much of anything if their eggs are left alone out in the wild. We need to collect as many as we can to ensure that some portion of the population will survive.
- Go on.
- You do that while I continue my research and figure out our next steps.
- All right. I'll be back soon. (Unlocks Skyscale Eggs achievement)
- I should go.
- That's terrible. Keep me apprised.
- I should go.
- I should go.
- I should go.
- Show me my progress. (Opens Newborn Skyscales achievement window)
- I should go.
- Before completing Skyscale Eggs
- Gorrik: Have you found a sufficient supply of skyscale eggs yet?
- Show me my progress. (Opens Newborn Skyscales achievement window)
- Still working on it.
- After completing Skyscale Eggs
- Gorrik: I'm okay, I'm okay. Where were we?
- Next steps for the eggs.
- Of course, right. I'll find a safe place to nest them—somewhere clean, ideally climate controlled—and let you know once they're settled.
- Go on.
- You've done good work here today, Commander. Spared a species from the abyss. Though it's not as flashy as slaying an Elder Dragon or a god, this is still a substantial achievement.
- Go on.
- I'll be in touch just as soon as I've found a suitable location for our ad hoc hatchery. And talked to Taimi—I've hit something of an impasse and could use her expertise.
- Love the optimism. Keep me apprised, Gorrik.
- See you later.
- See you later.
- Show me my progress. (Opens Newborn Skyscales achievement window)
- Actually, got to go. I'll come back later.
