On February 25th, 2019, ArenaNet had to part ways with a lot of inspired and talented individuals due to an upcoming restructuring of the company, which was dictated by parent company NCsoft.
“The Wiki Community would like to thank all of the amazing and brilliant people who worked on the wonderful Guild Wars franchise. We are deeply devastated by the decision from above to let go of so many great individuals and extend our condolences to those parting with the company. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

To those who remain: please stay strong in this sorrowful time. To quote Mike O'Brien, "We'll get through this."
Words of love[edit]
Feel free to leave a few words for those who left ArenaNet. Please be respectful and make sure to leave your name, whenever possible and appropriate. Thank you.
- Being a part of this world since 2005 has had a huge impact on my life. When real life was a serious struggle, I could always log in and relax with friends who have become real friends, even though some live far away. I would never have met these people without this game. Receiving my ANet Christmas card was amazing and still I keep safe after all this time with pride and love for this world and all of you who created it. Tari.of.Ascalon
- so very sad that so many wonderful people were lost to this game that they created. NCSoft made a really bad decision imo. i hope we will continue to see you in game (both GW1 and GW2). your loss is truly felt by those of us who have dedicated so many hours to this game we love, and hope that you will all find awesome new work-homes. Disa Wyrmhunter
- What can I say that hasn't been said already? The Guild Wars team at ANet was responsible for over a decade of gaming in a world I came to love. I met wonderful friends in your world, and embarked on fantastic adventures crafted by your hard work and passion. Regardless of where the future takes you all, thank you so much for all you did. The community will remember all that you did. - Stel Edelweiss
- Thank you for making this amazing game that I spent over 11k hours on. I never thought I'd ever spend such an amount of time on a game. It was clearly made with love. We can all see your handwork. Thank you, a million times for everything you did to this game I love. You're very appreciated, and loved. - Daisyglimmer
- Starting in GW1 and screaming with joy when GW2 was announced and seeing Tyria take on even more magic and depth, thank you, you outpaced my own imagination at every step! Creating such a fun, immersive, living video game that feels like another world rather than just a game is in no small way the work of true magicians. I hope you continue the magic in your future endeavors! The beauty, the excitement, and the imagination of Guild Wars 2 is all inside of you all and that power will remain with you. I will miss your dedication and passion. Thanks. Hope to see you in game!!! -Zach AKA Lord Svanir
- Playing Guild Wars 2 has been such a joy these past years. And my love, excitement, and appreciation toward it all comes back to you. You are brilliant human beings who I hope have the best of luck in finding whatever you want to create to your heart's desire. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. -JGE.4527
- I started playing less than a year ago, and I completly mezmerised (yes, my main is a mesmer) by everything from the player community to the storylines and the graphics. GW2 has helped me in so many ways and I made so many new friends, and even come to terms with some things about my self. So THANK YOU to everyone involved in making this game what it is. <3 /Lorelai8430
- To be honest one reassuring thing related to gw2 that I can think of to calm my anxiety right now is be like Job-o-Tron. I am serious, this golem is a somewhat good analogy to the situation. Job-o-Tron got downsized by Consortium and was out of a job. Hobo-Tron didn't give up and got a job as Ho-Ho-Tron, kept trying found another job as Heal-o-Tron, kept trying and helped people and eventually became Hero-Tron, finding a stable career as a representative of LA, the golem never gave up no matter what the world threw at him, and is still trying new things such as helping the Pact as Bait-o-Tron :). I know it's a silly comparison but in such a bad situation, this silly thought makes me feel happier and confident that Anet Devs former and current will be fine. Eduardo.1436
- Thank you, a thousand times thank you. Thank you to those known and unknown. Both GW1 and GW2 are such huge parts of my life, from the first days to the Test Krewe, to a new generation with GW2, dragons conquered, and friends gained. I started when I was 15, I am 30 now. To those who are leaving, I wish you fair winds and following seas. To those who are staying, fear not this night. We, the fans, are here with both sides with anything you might need. Just ask, we will do what we can. -Katherine the Blood/Renita Cartwright
- Thank you all, for breathing life into this game. Whatever you'll do now, remember that you have made a beautiful impact on the world and the players. You have all taken part in creating something special for so many of us, and I hope you are - and will continue to be - happy and proud of what you have done. Nobody deserves to lose their job like this, but your gifts for the world aren't lost, and never will be. You gave inspiration, fun, help, tears and smiles to us. It's a great power to have. I wish you all luck, and may you continue to express your talents and passion, wherever it may be. - Ninutra
- You guys are the greatest of the great, i cannot express how grateful we all are for your work and dedication, i wish you the best of luck in these horrible times please be safe.. -Byldog
- Thank you for all your great work, I really enjoy this game with my friends in the past six years. We support you and love you. Take care of yourself ,Good Luck! - byron.1924
- It's hard to express 11 years of pleasure and inspiration from a game in just a few words. I can't help thinking that among those leaving are talented artists who offers some light, brillant moments of my playthrough, and that i will never be able to thanks properly. To them, to all of you Anet, i say thank you. So much remains to be made in the future. Just as i want with all my heart to see everything this game still have to offer until the very end of the story, i wish you all the very best. - Veteran: Starblade
- Thank you for almost 7 years and ~7,500 hours in this game. Guild Wars 2 gave me so much joy, it gave me friends, it gave me family. Whatever happens, I wish the best to all of you from the bottom of my heart - Sahkara
- Thank you all for the memories you've given. Nothing can compare to hearing the ambient music of Shing Jea Monestary for the first time, I don't think I'll ever forget all the great moments. It's saddening that this is the real world and we, the fans play in a virtual one, but nonetheless evoke such deep feelings for all those who've been a part of something that has touched so many lives. THANK YOU!!! -Alanmav
- I still keep playing in gw1 of epic & classic gw2! Don't give up! Anet needs us to support the gemstore ^^b - 風雷克 GWGP

- Didn't play the original, but I found out about Guild Wars 2 through a friend who let me play during one of the beta weekends, and I've been following ever since. Even as a mostly solo player, this game has given me so much that I scarcely know where to begin. I've never had the fortune to meet any ArenaNet staff, but all the same, I just want to say: Thank you. All of you. You've made something that's brought me so much inspiration, so much happiness, so many memories; I will never forget it. Thank you. -Aria.7631 15:05 PST, 02/25/2019
- Among the few games that have changed my life are GW1 and GW2. Despite having played many MMOs, none can stand in comparison with yours – full of memorable stories and heroes, stunning visuals, touching music and a top notch gameplay. You’ve shown me the true joy of traversing online worlds – for me, Tyria is both an solitary escape from harsh reality and a place to share a laugh with guildmates. As my years with Guild Wars passed, I met a girlfriend, she became my fiancee and then my wife – and has recently started playing herself. It wouldn’t be possible without the world full of wonders you’ve created. These are sad days, as many of you are forced to leave the company, but your creation will stand as a proof of the care you’ve put here. I hope it will be a testimony that pushes careers of those laid off, and that those who stay will be able to continue working on this marvel for years to come. Thank you all, best of luck and let’s stick together! Edgewalker (talk) 23:06, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- Gw2 is so much more than "just a game". I met so many wonderful and unique people in this game, I never thought such kindness would exist in this world. I feel obliged to say thank you to each and every member of Anet and I hope we will see good things from the ones who got laid off at another bright place <3 - Nora 00:07, 26 February 2019 (UTC+1)
- Thank you for everything. You will! get through this. <3 -xil.
- Thank you for your contributions to the wonderful game we all enjoy! Best wishes to you all! ~S.W. / Mean Furruza
- My utmost thanks for such an amazing game, I have made some of the most amazing friends through the community and roleplay I found here. Some of who, I've had the pleasure of meeting IRL! But, I couldn't have done that without the foundation you guys at Anet set down for us. I hope you get through this and remain strong! - Kashti/Court of Thorns
- My heart goes out to all the devs affected by the layoffs. You have created a truly remarkable game that I have enjoyed for more than 3 years now, I just want to say thank you! - Dercylidas
- My relation with guild wars 2 started with a friend asking to join him and other friends to buy and play this new game they heard of. Now I never did like MMO's, still kind of don't, and those guys ended up pulling out at the last second. When I saw Angry Joe talk about an upcoming expansion for this game I owned two years later I decided to give it another shot. But I discovered that my acount was hacked. Thankfully the security team was really kind and worked with me for two weeks to get it back. After that I felt almost Obliged to at least play until lvl 80, as to at least give the game of the nice people at ArenaNet a chance. Once I reached lvl 80 and slayed that big old grumpy dragon I fell in love. And I never put it permanently down again. The love and dedication I have seen from the folks at ArenaNet really inspired me, and I met so many kind people from all around the world playing this game. Thank you, for your hard and beautiful work on this amazing game! --Doctor Refrence (talk) 23:17, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- Even if I don't know every face, nor every name, of those who were forced to leave ArenaNet, I still thank you. Guild Wars 2 sparked my creativity, granted me new inspirations and ideas for the stories I write and art I create. Guild Wars 2 helped me through the hardest of times, lifting some of pressure from my shoulders. Stay strong, guys. We're here, with you, just like you were with (at least some of) us. Hexwater (talk) 23:15, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- I have been an avid player of the GW1 and GW2 franchise since GW1's release. It has been my go to game when times were tough and a great place to play when times were good. I met so many amazing people in these games, I met the love of my life in GW2. I have so many great memories of this game and interacting with the Devs. My heart and best wishes go out to everyone who was affected by NCSoft's cruel, careless and greedy behavior. May Anet breakaway from NCSoft and hire everyone back, that's my wish. Love you all and best wishes! You're all amazing! - A Shining Star
- Thank you for what I have experienced so far in the Guild Wars franchise. Absolutely everything is amazing about this game! I'm very glad that it has been accompanying me for a long time now and I'm saddened to hear about what you are going through. Lot of Love and gratefulness from me, stay strong! <3 ~ 404INotFound aka Eric
- Thank you for everything! You gave me a reason to keep going in my lowest times and allowed me to meet a wonderful guild of people that I'm honoured to call my friends :) 89.160.52.190 23:20, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- I got back into this game one afternoon when I saw a bunch of players standing around, waiting for something. That something was Tequatl the Sunless. Since then, I found a guild, and made some of the best friends I've had in years playing this game. I hope it continues for years to come, and I hope you all succeed in whatever else you do. Thank you all. -PurpleCow
- You helped create a wonderful game with a wonderful community. Your contributions made the world a better place. Thank you, and I wish you the best! —Nefastu 23:31, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- This game completely changed my life. I was against MMOs and I picked up the game because it had a really nice box, art and booklets after a friend insisted that I should try it. I became a Guild Leader and an Alliance Leader in Guild Wars 1 and I had an amazing time. I realized I loved working with people, teaching and leading teams so I went on and I successfully did that IRL too. It saddens me deeply that a lot of good people will no longer be working on my favourite games and I wish all the best to them. Markus Clouser 23:37, 25 February 2019 (UTC)

Tyria, and the world, is a brighter place for it. Thank you, and I wish you all nothing but good things. <3 -Esterie

To all the devs, although I've only played the game for a fraction of the time you've all been working on it, it's come to mean so much to me - it's brought me great friends, great community, and hours of entertainment. - I only have one thing to say, thanks anet. I joined gw2 1 year and 4 months ago, the game is not perfect but it is one of the 3 best I've played in my life. At the moment you are passing now it may be a stumble, but remember to learn from your mistakes and improve more and more, you have the potential to be magnificent. Thanks to gw2 I have met people who are extremely cool, I feel that they are more sincere friendships than those I have achieved in real life, I hope everything goes for better anet, I criticize both the negative and the positive but I want you to know that I do it for that you are better, I will support you when you need it. - Ever since being brought slowly into this world years ago the community has become my home and it is thanks to the people who play here, and the people who make the world that we exist in digitally. I've met in-game companions, streamers, youtube personalities, lifelong friends, because of the work you have created and poured your talents into. Thank you for sharing your passions and your creativity, your ingenuity and your cleverness. It was never for nothing, and you all meant so much to us. Thank you, thank you, and best of luck from one of your biggest fans. <3 - Readergeek/therapite.3645
- This game has brought me friends that are more like family. It has given me a community, and helped me grow as a person and as a gamer. From GW1 right up til this moment, it's a game I play with my family and my internet family. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU who put hands on this creation, who gave their time, blood, sweat, tears, body and soul to make this project real-- thank you. QA, Sound, Music, JPs, Raids, PvP, WvW, literally all of it-- thank you. I hope you come back to this page often and read it... and see what a difference you've made in the lives of so many people. It's not just a game-- it's a community, and a feeling, for a LOT of us. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for giving me a home to rest in! My heart is aching, but the memories you've given us will always remain! Wishing you strength, warmth, comfort and a swift return to work where you are appreciated.... Falindae.6075, Penelope Rainir
- Thanks to all staff, all of you are great and I wish you much luck on your next projects and jobs. ~ Sand Kay
- I was 13 when I got into Guild Wars 2 and I will always come back to the game that has such a welcoming community. I will never forget joining my first guild and doing so many amazing things with them! I'm 19 now and I'm proud to say that Guild Wars 2 got me through some really rough times in my teenage years. Thank you so much for everything that you've given me, and everyone in this community. Stay strong and hope to see you in Tyria again soon! - Timeburner.6123 #Love4ArenaNet
- My best friend introduced me to this game four years ago, and since then, it's given me an outlet through sickness, loss of work, and the fight for disability. It's brought me new friends and a new community to be a part of when I was lost from my own. I may still screech in rage at a tough fight or jumping puzzle, but I wouldn't give up the camaraderie I've found through the world of Tyria for anything. Thank you all for your creativity, your hard work, and your love for the game. - cosmicbiscuit
- Guild Wars 2 came out at a very difficult time in my life. I can safely say that I would not be even a fraction of the person I am today without GW2's influence in my life. From the bottom of my heart I thank each and every one of you for the beautiful game you've created! Your influence made this game and this community what it is! Best of luck on your future endeavors!! ~Takaeri (zyzzi.5028)
- Thank you for your years of dedication, love and passion towards Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2 and ArenaNet/NC Soft family. Best of luck in the future and we love you - Shelly / Liv Freyr Leader of Phoenix Rising of Oceania [RISE]
- Guild Wars 2 has brought me so many memories over the past years, and there is never a dull day. We appreciate everyone's hardwork and dedication to this beautiful world. I wish you all the best of luck! From yours truly, Lanthun, the Supreme TC Overlord.
- You guys have been amazing. I've logged thousands of hours in the game you created and made lasting friends and memories. I'll always be grateful for your work, your passion and dedication to the community you made a space for. I'm sorry it's time to move on, but I know you'll do it with the knowledge that everything mattered to so many thousands of people. All the best to you. --Asgaeta (btballenger.2583)
- I started playing the original Guild Wars back in 2005. I started playing Guild Wars 2 during the first open beta event thanks to my guild leader from GW 1 who was kind enough to provide me with a beta invite. Up until my computer died, which happened about 2-3 weeks ago, I played both games religiously. The entire Guild Wars franchise has brought me more joy than you could ever begin to imagine. If I was ever sad, depressed, mad, or just feeling lonely, I’d hop in and let the wonder set in. People ask me why I continue playing GW 1, or why I am happy about repeating Map completion over and over in GW 2. The answer is always the same. To simply put it, I truly enjoy the game. It’s bout about grinding or competing to me. It’s about truly being able to take in what the developers, designers and everyone involved have given us. I’ll always remember showing my grandmother Eye of The North, and she was in complete awe. I don’t care what some may say, Guild Wars as a whole is truly an amazing game. To each and every employee of ArenaNet, former and current, I really appreciate everything you’ve done for us. I know you all probably don’t hear that enough, but I’m being sincere, and I truly mean that. For those who were let go, I want you to know that I’m sending as many positive vibes your way in hopes that things will get much better. Stay strong, and keep moving forward with your heads held high. For those still with ArenaNet, you all do the same, and keep doing your best. We all love every last one of you, because in some way or another, you all have brought everyone happiness, some when they needed it the most such as myself. -The Twilight Angel
- Been around Guild Wars since the beginning, Nov. 2004 beta weekend. It has been a hell of a ride, fun, exciting, emotional one at that. Can't say enough how much I appreciate the team at Arenanet and all their hard work over the years, and I know the community does as well. Been a great 14+ years to share with this community. Thank you again!! -DarkerCrimson DarkerCrimson.8574
- I've been playing since launch day back in 2005. There are absolutely no words to describe how I feel towards this beautiful game and my journey for the past 14 years. Guild Wars and Tyria have been constant companions in my life, giving me a creative output, a place to kick back on a long day, and just live and breath in a world different than my reality. This game has very much raised me, and seen me through many rough parts of my life. The world, the narrative, the characters - thank you so much for all the hard work everyone on the team has put in. It is truly appreciated. I don't know, the future seems murky - something which makes me panic. I cannot fathom a day the doors close to the portals into Tyria... To those who were let go: know we are here to love and support you and we wish and hope for the best for you. For those who are still on the team: please continue to work hard and continue to build and expand your beautiful world - many of us depend on it and are immeasurably appreciative of your hard work. Lots of love - TheAlkhemyst
- Guild Wars 2 started off as a game that seemed to have everything I ever wanted and then grew into a second home. It has brought me joy, new friends, new communities, and oodles of inspiration. Thank you all so much for all you have done. You will be missed and you will be remembered. - SilveryBeing.5082
- After we lost Paragon City, I was rather forlorn and looking for a new virtual home. Over these past six years now, Tyria has been that home. I've fallen in love with the gameplay, the music, the art, the incredible world, and the wonderful community y'all have created. Thank you all for everything, all your hard work is truly appreciated by all of us. Dream well, and remember you'll always have a special place here with us! - Skoryy (UruzSix.6594)
- Guild Wars 2 was the first MMO I've ever played. It's only been 6 years of playing for me, but the family and friends I've made along the way are forever. And through all this sadness, Anet, I hope you keep in mind how many friendships and families you've helped create among the community. You've created, beautiful, beautiful things. Be proud, and carry on. <3 Krissy&theB

If here they fall, we know they shall live on, When e'er you call or cry, For Ascalon!" /Salute, you and everything you've done will forever be a part of our lives. - Fatal Papercut & the Ashes of the Rising Phoenix guild.
- I have played in the world of Tyria since its inception, I am forever grateful to all the Anet staff that has made it a living, breathing, wonderful place to be. I am so sad to see so many go, especially cherished veterans. I hope for a bright future for everyone, those who are still creating inside Tyria and for those that will find new homes among the stars. Valkyrie85 (talk) 03:23, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- I'm a huge fan of ArenaNet since the first month of GW1. I appreciate the devs so dang much. It breaks my heart to see them part. Especially ones I've followed for so long. I don't know everyone that is leaving yet. But I'm blown away THE Matthew Medina (as I refer to him) and Josh Foreman (whom I have deep deep respect for), are among them. And oh my gyosh, Gaile Gray (absolute LEGEND)! I'll never forget when the great James Phinney parted ways to Undead Labs. Such amazing talent, you ArenaNet folks. But even beyond that, such admirable character and vision. Your art and passion is inspiring and I wish I could put into words the affect you've had on me every year, month, and day that goes by. Despite this crushing, nearly paralyzing loss, I'm looking forward to the future of ArenaNet! Such great things have come from you, and they get better all the time! You're my inspiration!! I hope you all know that I would be overwhelmed with gratitude to meet ANY one of you (staying or leaving). TerryBogard (Terry Bogard.6950)
- Words cannot express the sorrow I have. I've been with GW for nearly a decade. Thank you for all the wonderful times that your hard work has given me. I wish I could shake each of your hands. -KythanMyr.4719
- Even though I joined the gw2 universe abit late and missed out the chances to play gw1 when it is still in its prime.I still thoroughly enjoy all the time I have spent with friends and my guildies. Thank you all for everything and best of luck on your next adventures! o/ --tacohashi_

- I still - barely - remember creating my first character when Guild Wars 2 first came out. She was a sylvari thief, named Future Doctor for my childlike ambitions. I modeled her after my father's character, a sylvari thief. Later, I wanted a human character modeled after my mother, this time a human ranger to her elementalist. Those early, barely-remembered memories bring me such nostalgia at times. I quit several months after starting, but almost three years ago I picked it up again and began playing. Within a year I had completed the personal storyline - almost every last thing was new and amazing to me, as I had forgotten it all. The only problem was that I could never decide between the sentimentality of playing a sylvari vs playing a human. But I never did forget that my true love was ranger. I still have trouble sometimes deciding whether I prefer Queensdale to Caledon Forest - both of which have some amazing memories, from figuring out how the map works concerning the unfogging discovered areas in Caledon Forest to helping out Foreman Flannum and seeing my first vista in Queensdale. But I have decided which race I am - a human/sylvari hybrid. (Which is absolutely absurd, I know - but nobody can explain the Dream. Do we really know whether any of us became part-sylvari when we entered the Dream in A Light In The Darkness?) I belong in Tyria. Every day I wonder if this is the day I will discover it is all real - hidden around the corner like Narnia. I never was a very social person, so I never really became a part of the community... but the NPCs are more of a Tyrian family than any PC could be (just by virtue of being part of the story). I have learned lessons from all of them - to hold fast to your beliefs and choices and not let others sway your opinion (Logan), to be happy for my friends when they do something awesome (Trahearne), that any amount of snarkiness and sass can be excused for a caring heart beneath (Zojja), how to love and have empathy and set my sights high, and how to overcome adversity from the most hurtful sources and move on (Eir), to stay strong and be happy even through troubles and hard times, so that I don't worry the people around me (Taimi)... and so many others. Most of all, Tyria has done three major things for me: a) it has let me release my inner nature through sylvari, b) it has reawakened my flair for writing stories; Tyria will be kept alive in my hands even if I am the only one left, the story - all its flaws and shining moments, from a blundering mistake here to the heights of epic storytelling there - has shown me how to write better, and c) it has taught me to laugh. Mostly the asura. Taimi, Zojja, Snaff of all people is hilarious. Canach and Rytlock. Eir's *name* (because puns are the funniest jokes in the world)! The amount I have laughed to tears since playing this could cure the uncurable. The amount of time I have spent researching nonsensical stuff on this wiki (going through every last known Order of Whispers member to make sure of the apparent code they have?? For no fathomable reason??) I have found emotion here in Tyria. I have grown attached the most nonsensical things - just seeing the Vigil Keep brings me joy, while watching the one huddle of friends suddenly stop speaking as a sylvari approaches in Tangled Depths pulls my heartstrings. The voiced realization that 'bits of Caladbolg were *dropping off* all through the jungle!!' caused me much distress. Dying in Path of Fire caused much doubt about myself - do I want to go back? Or do I want to stay? Forgal, and Tonn, and Eir, and Trahearne... they're all waiting for me. But I returned, if only because I had no choice... and I was glad to be forced. Kasmeer's tears and Taimi's frantic shouts through the comm were enough, and later I realized that if I had stayed... I could never have faced those I wanted to see. Blish's final farewell pulled tears to my eyes. Yet again I was leaving someone to their fate at the hands of an Elder Dragon - this time by actually turning and literally running away rather than ending their misery then and there or leading Lionguard out of Claw Island or accidentally blowing somebody up or somebody dying to defend *me* - then I was running to save my own skin, and nothing else, and it *hurt.* I'm still going to crawl into Kralkatorrik's dead mouth to make sure he isn't just powered off. We all know how terrifying that is for him, and so if I cannot power him on... I'll do what I have done before, and destroy him. ArenaNet, you have brought feeling to a previously not very emotional life. You have created Tyria for me, and so many others. Somewhere, some way, your efforts have created a magical reaction wherein Tyria sprang to life. And I will continue fighting on through the game, aware that somewhere, my efforts are making Tyria a better place. The Elder Dragons are not gone. And while I may gripe and whine to get the next episode out - you will bring it, eventually. And I will be that much more patient now, knowing what setbacks you suffer and your toils to bring Tyria to life. Though shadows fall, still the stars find their way - and you are certainly the brightest star in the night of Tyria. You will find your way. And someday, even if Guild Wars 2 falls dormant, you will awaken again... you can always be strong. It is darkest just before day, and dawn is just a heartbeat away. AND MEANWHILE? Meanwhile I can be a creative monster. I can churn out ideas for ways to kill the Elder Dragons, alternate storylines for choices that were never offered... and maybe someday I'll find my own idea nestled in a corner somewhere, and know that I have done my part to leave my special mark on Tyria, set apart from the scores of other players, some of which have done the same storyline as I have, and felt it. You have impacted my life. Given me controversy and the chance to enter heated arguments over dead characters. Given me a way to bond with others, as adverse to society as I may be. And, despite anything else, the story of the Velveteen Bunny keeps me safe and sound - I have declared Tyria real more times than I can count. Even if I and every last fan and dev loses interest and even forgets Tyria... it will live on. I am very much a norn in that respect. Something living on despite me forgetting... that is reassuring. I don't know how reassuring this message is - I am rubbish at giving speeches, as my totally demoralizing one at the end of Path of Fire proves - but know that is me, my opinion for Tyria laid bare... or at least, as bare as Dougal Keane laid his heart to Gullik Oddsson about his cousin Gyda. I can be funny sometimes. Taimi taught me that. (Poobah? Commander, don't tell her to stop! If my siblings ever shout at me, "Hey, Poobah, come here!" I'll respond to that. *It is so funny!* Anyway. I hope you continue to go strong. And hey! Look me up in game if you want a chat. (/out-of-character: sorry if this post is unforgivably long. GW2 has just been that lifechanging for me.) -- Tiffany Smith
- The enthusiasm, dedication, and love you gave to your craft, the game, and the community shines in every corner of Tyria. The community was lucky to have each and every one of you, and you have left an incredible legacy for us. Thank you for everything. -fivebrights.7359/Talk of Tyria
- GW2 is an exceptional game. It remains to this day the first MMO that ever really /grabbed/ me. You all did something incredible, and while there may be some higher ups at the helm of corporate behemoths who didn't appreciate that, we certainly do and did. Thank you. You're all artists and creative juggernauts, and I hope above all else that you find success wherever you end up next. You deserve better and by god I think you'll find it. - Swiff
- Both GuildWars and GuildWars 2 really hold a place dear to my heart. My life changed quite drastically over the years, and when it was tough, it was the pillar that kept me standing and stable. I've been through few guilds, met many friends, used it to touch with other friends while staying abroad for multiple year long journey, etc. As I became a software engineer, I once hoped to migrate to the states and join Arenanet. Although I ended up working for tech startup in California by total coincidence, your workplace always inspired me, and despite some troll / toxicity out there, you created a world with a truly great and friendly communities. I'm really saddened by the turn and event and wish a speedy recovery to those whose jobs were cut (especially the H1B holders, if any...). - Uman
- Thank you so much for the game. I just started the game few months ago and I love this game. It pains me to hear we are losing so many great developers. I wish everyone good luck in their future endeavor - Chrowowmancer
- I was first introduced to Guild Wars by my cousin back in 2005, since then it has been a game that my dad and I have played. He was the monk to my elementalist and now the necromancer to my engineer. I recently came back to Tyria playing GW2 and I was blown away. You all have done an amazing job creating this lovely universe.I hope you all find successes in the next chapter of your careers. You deserve the best. Thank you all for making such a memorable series. - Lonelyprincess.6742
- I've been a fan of your games for ages, even getting involved enough be priveleged enough to know some of you personally, and while I've been less active recently, you've been a source of inspiration and I'll always have fond memories of the time I've spent in Tyria, and have nothing but the warmest wishes for those departing, as well as those faced with this new chapter at ArenaNet. - Saone
- I've been riding with Guild Wars for over half my life now. It's crazy when you think about it, but you guys at Anet really made something so special and beloved. Passionate people will always find success, don't you doubt even for a passing second that the dark clouds won't shift over you in the future! Good luck, I will imbue Godspeed upon you all :) - Rankku Kanuuna
- I just want to say thank you so much for dedicating so much of your time to providing an incredible experience for all of us. I know I've spent countless hours sinking time (Most of it Roleplaying) in this media. I've made incredible life long friends and I wouldn't of found them if it wasn't for all of you who've done so much for Guild Wars 2. I can't ever thank you enough for all of this. I am sorry for what is happening and I hope that you all are able to find happiness and solace in knowing that what you've accomplished has made people beyond happy, you've given people a place to connect and established a game where working together is key to growing. Thank you again from not only me but my guild as well (The Tyrian Accord [ALLY]) Never forget how important you are, and how much each of you matter - Drake Griggs
- Jebro here! Gw2 as many know changed everything for me. I'm in Seattle because of this game & the people I met. I started shout casting, toured to the US & around the EU shout casting my favorite game, Guild Wars 2. Meeting community members and epic people at Anet. Thank you for always making me feel welcome and supporting me in my own dreams. Our thoughts are with you guys & please know that you have psoitively affected so many people, not only with the game, but with your spirit and your general awesomeness! - Jebro
- It would be a very long message, but I personally thank ArenaNet for so many hours of fun, 3100 hours and counting. Guild Wars 2 is literally the first game in which I have spent a lot of time playing (2016/2019). I have to thank Guild Wars 2 for many things but especially for helping me with my fantasy stories. -Mr. Stellar
- Guild Wars 2 plays a huge role in my life. Even if I haven't played the first Guild Wars, I'm here since GW2 launch and all I can say is that it's my very first MMORPG, but the last one I'll be playing as well. You guys did an amazing job here, ypu've created a giant and amazing game community, I'm in love with every single piece of it. I have so many great memories from the game, so much time speny with my guildmates and friends that I can't express how grateful I am to be still here. Here, I even started to improve my English! You guys are the biggest inspiration for us. You've created a game we've fallen in love with. We'll never forget that. Please take care of yourselves and never forget that you'll be always part of our lovely, huge game family. - Kanke.6043

- Thank you all for the amazing work you do to bring this community together! Gw2 was my first MMO, and helped me grow as a person, a writer, and a team player. From pink day to hosting Halloween costume contests, to finding my place in the roleplay community, I can honestly say your work is why I am who I am today. The beautiful game and wonderful atmosphere you created and maintained got me through some very hard times!! And now, I hope we can be there for your hard times. Thank you. And wherever your life goes, I hope it is a good place. -Rhovanel.8726 // Lightbringer Merroc
- I have been wandering Tyria since GW1, and have spent many, MANY hours playing both games. GW2 means the world to me, and I am grateful for all the hard, amazing work you've put in its making. Thank you for contributing to the creation of my favourite game. I wish you the best, I wish you the world. Thank you <3 - Rory Littlearrow
- My wife long ago wanted to try a game without subscriptions, that game was Guild Wars. Though her interest waned, mine never did after playing through Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and EoTN. I loved the stories, the characters, and the battles. I loved the universe you made. Even more excited when GW2 came, I brought people into this game knowing their tastes. It feels so good to see that excitement light up in them when they find something new. No matter where you go in the future, please remember that some of us loved this universe and franchise you made. We loved the experience and your part in it. From all those players, thank you.
- Thanks devs for all your work on GW1 and GW2@ --Life Infusion «T» 05:52, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- I cannot thank this team enough for the impact my (thus far, short) time with the game has been. Tyria touches my emotional core in a way that no other MMO has ever managed to do. I started the game last August with little in the way of a plan outside placating a friend who had continued to suggest the game, but upon spending less than an hour in the game, just wandering and taking in the sights, I was hooked. Even as recently as last night, I'll catch myself wandering a map, hearing a conversation between two NPCs I'd never heard, and just let myself s o a k in the ambient LIFE around me. Then the music kicks in, and I'm lost in the moment. These are memories I'll hold close to my heart for the rest of my life, and I have them because of you guys. The people leaving and the people staying, to both sides of this team, I give my most genuine of praise and gratitude, and only wish that I could give you more in return for what you've given me. - Miz/Magister Pukh
- Thank you for all you have done, we will always remember every single one of you for making my favourite game of all time. Im very grateful to know some of you and for being able to play a game with so many passionate people behind it. I have nothing more to say but that i love you all and i always will, this isnt gonna be the same without you.
- Gw2 has been with me through some really tough moments in my life. When I was struggling greatly with depression I would play this game to keep my mind busy, and it helped me break free of suicidal thoughts and the feeling of absolute loneliness that I had been experiencing. You all have no idea how much you have impacted my life, and I am eternally grateful. The lore, the characters, the combat style, the art, everything about this game I have loved (Yes, Even Braham.). My heart goes out to all of you struggling or suffering. Stay strong, stay amazing. -Khorvida
- The original Guild Wars has and will continue to hold a special place in my heart. Thank you all for all the incredible work you have done. Don't let anyone tell you that you were just a programmer, you were essential for the creation of a piece of art that will endure for a long time to come. - Short Gloves
- Dear employees at ArenaNet. Thanks for your work, for your mind and heart that you put in this game, where many, many gamers meet each other and created bonds. These bonds are for good and for bad thanks to you and for always with you. I and all other faithful residents of Tyria are with you by our hearts and minds. Thanks for your good work. Janer.

- These news are heartbreaking. I've not once been as invested in a game as Guild Wars 2 and this game is what these wonderful people have made it. You've left me in awe and speechless several times and no doubt you will continue to do so wherever life might take you. Thank you for everything, we appreciate every second of work, love and passion put into this game. ❤ -Qwendell
- My journey began in GW1, where I was introduced to the world of Tyria, going from place to place, immersed in a beautiful world with a rich storyline and unforgettable characters. This continued into GW2, where I don't feel alone, either through our friends in the game itself such as Taimi and Braham, or the community that has built around it, both are amazing. This all was possible because of everyone at ArenaNet who put so much love and dedication into the game. We are losing family members here, and I cannot thank you all enough, and I wish you all the very best and that life gives you good things. I also send love to those that get to stay. 'Though shadows fall, the stars still find their way' <3 - Silver Bunny/Archangel Silver

- This is a tragedy. I am so sorry for every single fantastic person who lost their jobs and/or their friends yesterday. To those we lost, and to those who remain: Thank you for all the love, hard work, dedication and effort you put into the creation of the world of Tyria. Guild Wars 2 has been my steady companion throughout a large part of my life, and I not only made great friends here and found a community to belong to, I also found love. I am forever grateful for that. Without this game I would not have joined the wiki community, and without the wiki I would not know where to stand now. Thanks to becoming a part of its community, I finally realised what I wanted to do with my life: to be a copy editor. For all of these things, ArenaNet has my gratitude. I will stay with the game and stand by the company until the very end, which is hopefully far off. We shall prevail, against all odds. talk 08:40, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- I don't have a lot of things to say, because i'm still shocked... I can only say THANK YOU for everything ! Guild Wars is all my life, i started for the first one in 2005 and I kept going with you, growing up with your stories and loving each part of the game you made. I wish all of you the best. Love you. -Radjame [Luna Atra]
- Thank you - Vent
- You did good. Thanks for everything.
- To the devs who received the grim news today, and to those that remain: Thank you for all of your hard work, effort and dedication. Some of you I knew personally, others are strangers to me. But to all of you, I wish you the very best on the journeys that lie ahead. - Zaxares (talk) 09:07, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- I am very much saddened by this news like so many of us are. Guild Wars 2 is my favourite game ever and I love Guild Wars 1 almost as much. You guys have helped me get through some very dark and scary times over the last 13 years and I have come out on top because of you guys. Thank you for your amazing work on this world that I've come to know and love so much. The world that has become a home to me <3 ~ Roxanne13579, Kisai Hikaru.1052
- Thank you to all of you who have worked and are still working at ArenaNet, you have made my world a better place. My time in the Tyria of GW2 played a huge part in keeping me happy and content when I wasn't able to work for three years, or go outside much at all. Wandering in Tyria was my outside, and that kept me happy. I've made a wonderful friend through GW2, and thank you so much for bringing her into my life. Those of you who were there for GW1 too, I can't give you enough thanks. I made the very best friend that anyone could wish to have when he patiently helped me to tame a bear in pre-searing Ascalon. I would never have met him if it wasn't for all of you. Thank you so much for bringing him into my life. He isn't with us anymore, alas, but I know he would be utterly gutted for you all too. I so hope that all of you realise just how important you have been in my life, in his life, and in the lives of every single person who has fallen in love with the world of Tyria. Thank you all <3
- Guild Wars have been a huge part in my life, sad to see Guild Wars has lost the part of its soul yesterday :( Thank you for all the hard work and wish you all good luck
- For years I have been player of Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 games. The world you have build had helped me to overcome my depression and to change my life and inspired me to become a better person. My adventures in Tyria kept my emotions from destroying me. With new lasting friendships, I was able to find a solution to my problem. Thank you for making it happen. ~ Micos
- You created something undeniably special for a lot of people. Thank you for all you've done, and I wish you nothing but the very best in the future. —Ventriloquist

- Thank you to each and everyone, former or present employee from ArenaNet! You created my perfect game, a world where I can relax and laugh and have wonderful times even when real life is not that good! I wish you all the best and hope the future will compensate for these hard times! <3 ~ Maiya
- Thank you all past, present, and future. Keep it up and we'll be behind you all the way. ybyeo
- Gw2 isn't just a game for me.. It help me at my hardest time at my life.. The character, that you create are a second family for me and the story is a part of my life, also new friends I made. Thank you so much for the work and love that you gave in to this game! ~Fujisen.4081
- My wife and I have been Guild Wars players since 2005 and we joined Guild Wars 2 when it first came out in August of 2012. Although my wife no longer plays, I have logged on practically every single day since the beginning, with a few exceptions (and I still do). Tyria is my second home and it is because of all your efforts that I continue to play in this wondrous magical playground of an MMORPG that you created. Thank you for all the wonderful moments, the heartfelt character arcs, the painstaking attention to detail and the countless hours you all put in to make Guild Wars 2 a masterpiece. We especially appreciate the fact that you folks did all you could to listen to the community to improve the game and iron out the bugs, nipping a lot of issues in the bud before they soured the gaming experience. You guys did more than just listen - you engaged us in discourse and held all sorts of fun contests and stuff, giving a face to the entity that is ArenaNet. Community Managers like Gaile Gray gave that extra-special personal touch to Guild Wars, and stories like the birth of the Sanctum of Rall and the various tributes you gave to the community will always be remembered by us. You made a safe space where all are welcome and dared to tell tales that would normally be considered taboo by the most unenlightened of people. To those that remain, you have our thanks and support. To those who had to go, we are deeply saddened by this turn of events, but you will always have our unending gratitude for all you have done and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. - Noshada Blackwolf
- Thank you for the amazing 13 years of enjoyment you bring me. Since Faction, Guild wars is my main game franchise. I love exploring the world of Tyria, and I think you do too, that's why it is such an amazing game. I wish you all the best for the journey ahead- Demorose.
- I have been a huge fan of GW since late 2005, clocking around 7000 hours on it (and probably more nowadays on GW2). If I hadn't exhausted the game's content I would still be playing it today. Although I was skeptical of GW2 during what I would call it's dark age, I can now safely say that I found a new home there that I hope is here to stay. Both games provided me an escape when I needed one and a constant enjoyment. GW1 in particular played no small part in forging my tastes in fantasy. I am sad to see so many people go but you shouldn't leave defeated but proud of what you built and with the confidence that you can be essential to building more amazing universes/communities/... Thank you. ~ Lyndis
- Thank You. Been playing both GW1 and GW2 forever. The games are on another level. Take self confidence and our blessing with you as you move forward. Justice (talk) 10:37, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you for all the hard work, energy, passion and creativity you have put into the Guild Wars franchise so that we can enjoy spending time with a great community in a wonderful game world. - Thank you. This game has helped me through some hard times in my life, I met so many nice people and made a lot of new freinds thanks to this game. The game holds a very special place in my heart it is the first and only MMO I play, I never expected to fall in love with the lore of Guild Wars but I did and that is a great thing as I love the world that has been created. Thank you once more for all the amazing work put into it you are truly a great dev team and a special thank you to the amazing support team that always fixed my issues. ~thecake.1809

- I have spent 4,500+ hours exploring this beautiful world you guys have built from the ground up and I have loved every minute of it. Never stop creating and loving what you do and I'll keep supporting you every step of the way. Much love, Animosity.5074
- I could write a novel about my love for ArenaNet and the reasons why. But here's the biggest one: spreading inspiration across a vast community is no easy task, and yet the worlds you have created do it so naturally. Everything that my art is now, is thanks to that inspiration. The power of the devs at ArenaNet is no joke. At least in my life, you've made such a huge difference, just by giving us the product of so many imaginations. I doubt I'm the only one; and it comes down to just a single mount skin or a single interaction with a CS agent. Inspired by the designs of every detail or the friendliness from GM Wafflebuddies (I remember you dude), it doesn't matter how trivial it might've been, it MATTERS, and I hope every dev (which includes /everyone/) knows it. You guys Did That. And that really matters. I know we're still in good hands with the devs who've been able to stay, and I know we'll have much to look forward to from the devs who move on to new things. I'll be keeping an eye out for even more amazing inspiration now spread out in a wider space. Every single one of you is awe inspiring and talented and I'm confident for the future! My support goes out to all of you. Tetraethyl (talk) 12:53, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you everyone at and leaving Anet for the thousands of hours of fun you've made for the community.I only wish every developer was as hard working, engaging and awesome as you guys. - yobrotom.

- Thank you so much for your amazing minds and hearts, for me Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 always were and always will be the best games ever created, with memories I will never forget. Thank you for your dedication and hard work, for your amazing attention to details and for being here and creating the most beautiful world for us to enjoy. I wish you all the best for the future. May we meet again. - Maylice
- I had no idea what I was getting into when I bought this game, but it's inspired so much fun even as a solo player. Thanks for all your hard work. You made a beautiful world for us to play in. - Zamorakian
- I been a player since Guild Wars 1, Factions really did it for me. I liked exploring the game lore and continued to guild wars 2 where the freedom of movement and game modes feel great. This game offers unique game modes and free to go through and change at any time that is very unique. In other games you normally require specific gear for each mode, and you often have to keep playing to keep your armor updated. The world is also great to play and explore with other and replay, the scalling system is also unique and great for this, this allows me to bring my friends to play with ease. I bought this game twice for my loved one, both gw1 and gw2. We feel joy when we give gem gifts to each other. I still play guild wars 1 sometimes to this day, and guild wars 2 daily, I have no doubt you will go through this hard time as the game still has much power for the future. Currently building my legendary armor full set. - JPUlisses.8756
- My wife and I started to play Guild Wars 2 to bring us closer and it has. You have taken us in adventure. You have also introduced MMO to my son and you are his firsy. These memories will last forever. Thank you so much for bringing love and excitement to our lives and to many other players. We wish you the best of luck on the next step of your lives. Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts -From Koji Kahn (Koji.1540) and Lori Pineapple (loripineapple.5637)
- I Love this game so much! I can make a lot of friends and its just an amazing atmosphere I really love it and its just an amazing game throughout. I been on it for 4 months and I don't think I will ever get tired of this game. I made a lot of friends and some enemies but its fine I have my own guild with all my friends and its just amazing. so thank you for making this game! From Valndrisa Valkina (Valndrisa Valkina.1034
- Casual player here. I don't truly understand the situation but I do know I really love gw2 and really appreciate the devs for it. Every time I log in to play, be it in Central Tyria, HoT, PoF or LWS, I really enjoy myself and all the little details or big things gets to me. Thank you so much for your time, effort, ideas, probably sweat, tears and blood on this game. I hope wherever you may go next, you'll be as appreciated (if not, more) and enjoy yourself. -Yuu.1834
- Guild Wars 2 is my first and the only one online RPG. Thank you for all those friends, that i've found in the game, thank you for inspiration, thank you for all that hours that i've spend in beatifull world that you created (DangerousFennec.7680)
- Alas this comes as sad news indeed. From not just playing the game, but knowing a number of you personally! Throughout the good times and the tribulations (should that be "Tibalt-ulations") that will never be known I can only say how much I appreciate and respect the journey that has been taken. Yes I know that something could come out of this, but it is still like I say a sad moment. My thoughts are with those I know and those I don't and I truly hope that things work out for you. Thank you for everything, the game, answering the silly questions and the arguments. Taz (Yes him lol)
- GW2 with the friendliest community, is nothing but a reflection of the amazing team working behind it. You all shall be remembered in our hearts, hopefully we can still see you in game. With Love, Guild Grandma.
- Your passion and hard hard work made both guildwars games so amazing, and it inspired me to follow my dreams instead of becoming a lawyer. Thanks for everything, you all are as wonderful as the world you helped build. Best of luck.
- I play Guild Wars since the first day of GW1. I am so sad to hear this news. All my support to the team. Thank you for everything ! ~Nyx Sauventreen

- Thank you for the best 3 years I have been connected with you all. You have made this game awesome and good luck to you all who have left ArenaNet, and for who remain keep bringing great content. With Love, LilZander.
- Thank you for everything you did for the game and us, the community. Wishing you all the best for your future. Lord von Schnüff.
- In 2007 I got a Christmas card from ArenaNet signed by Gaile Gray and others. I don't know why me and I never got anything similar from any other company, but even today I'm full of joy when I see it. So I remained true to Guild Wars and 9k hours and 37k AP later I hope I could contribute a little bit to the success of your beautiful games. Thank you. - Jaden
- Thank you for everything. I've started playing GW1 with my boyfriend and I'm still playing GW1 and GW2 with my now partner. I really love all that you've done and how amazing this game is. <3 Ysabeau Riven
- Guild Wars 2 is the game I have spent the most time with, be it in game playing or out of the game improving my gameplay. Any change of personnel always has a huge impact on the game itself. So from a player perspective I will sorely miss the contribution of everyone leaving ArenaNet. From a personal perspective I would not wish a situation like this upon anyone. Neither those staying, nor those leaving are to be envied. I wish everyone the best of luck and hope to enjoy your content in the future, be it in GW2 or whatever other project you guys will find a home in. Cheers! ~ Sebb
- Thanks for everything. You are wonderful people. I love this game with all my heart and the friends I've made on it are lovely and amazing people that I hope I'll meet someday. I hope the best for the future of GW2 and anet. I wish all of you the best in your endeavors and thanks for making this game better. <3 - dreth
- Guild Wars 2 opened a whole world for me. I met so many beautiful people and made so many deep friendships. It's one of those things that are difficult to explain to people. I am truly appreciative to every person who has worked to make GW2 what it is today, developers, friends, and/or guildies alike. Wishing the best for those who are departing and those who are staying to continue to keep it going. Thank you for building a world, a lore, a universe, a place to dream and make dreams come true. With love, ninjazzy.3024
- Thank all of the devs, creating this awesome game and franchise. Personally I only started with GW2 but that since it's beta days. It's sad to see that people have to leave but their works shall and will be remembered. After 4000+ hours i still love playing this game. It is always a fun thing to do just playing with only music or sound effects just to appreciate those little things that you may overlook in everyday playing. Guild Wars 2 was and will always be a home for me. I hope that all of the people that sadly have been laid off will be fine and create new awesome things like they did here. 7 Years and the game is still awesome. Stay awesome <3 - Christina No
- It is cliche', but we love cliche's; when God closes a door he opens a window. May He bless you and your families with even better opportunities that would bring you joy. All the best- Vott Maintoe; Storm Dragon Slayers.
- Hi there, i would like to say goodbye to you and let you know that you have all shaped my gaming experience. A friend of mine and his brother who unfortunately died much too young invited me to his home at the time to the beta weekends and introduced me to the world of tyria. I was able to play a guild wars title for the first time. You impressed me so much with this game that I played from the start of sales and fevered on updates. Until today i am and will remain a guild wars 2 fan and love this game which you designed and created. On my journey through tyria i also started to play guild wars 1 and am happy about every place I can recognize or explore. Thanks for everything, thanks for a great experiece, a wonderful journey and your great job. Even if our journey together ends here, I wish you all the best. Your Tyrun Sturmklinge (sirithromenion.2014)
- There are so many words I could say here. a novels worth. Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 have been my home since the game series launched. My daughter now calls this series home. I have grown up with many of the developers and have watched their efforts over the many years. I have fought alongside them, supported every decision, and admired every single aspect of the games they have worked on. My thoughts go out to those that have had to say goodbye, and to their families. the prayers of mine and my daughters,as well as the thoughts and prayers of each and every member of The Tyrian Bullet Club are with all of you, and we wish you Godspeed in what lies ahead of each and every one of you. We will never forget what you have done for us, and we will stand by you. Sin Of Anubis.
- GW1 was my first MMO experience and GW2 is now my go-to. I love the level of details and story. The ending to Nightfall in GW1 literally made me jump out of my chair in excitement and I've never seen three such different expansions be tied together so well! I may not have the hours some have in GW2 yet, but in both games I've purchased character slots just so I can have one of each class and I don't regret a dime. The classes are so fun to play, and the races in GW2 are amazing. You have all done great work, and I hope you find nothing but success in the future. ~Kittentamer
- When I was 6 years old, my dad showed me into the magnificent world of Guild Wars. Since then I have accumulated 5,500+ hours in Tyria. This game has had an incredible impact on my development as a person, and i want to thank ArenaNet for bringing my father and I closer. I wish all of you the best and no matter what happens i want to say how greatful i am for the experiences you all have given me. ~Alex A.K.A Captain Mcheals
- My life wouldn't be what it is today without GW2 and ANet. Through the game I've met my long-time boyfriend and some of my dearest friends. I've spent hours enjoying the world you, the devs, have lovingly created, and I can easily say that I am richer for it. No other game has touched me in the way GW2 has, and I wish you all the best. <3 - Obs
- It was thanks to Guild Wars 2 that I am married to the most amazing person who's ever come into my life. Without this game we may never have met. Without this game my life would be completely different now. Thank you for the many hours both of us have cumulatively put into this game. Thank you for providing us with an amazing story that is forever leaving us asking what's next. We could both write an essay on the game and how it has changed our lives. Both of us are getting teary eyed writing this because we just can't imagine this game not being a thing. Thank you to all the Devs who've left for making this game a thing, thank you for allowing two crazy people from opposite ends of Europe to meet each other. Good luck for your future, whatever it may hold. /salute - Riina + Vex (riinna and abnormal)
- I remember seeing the original Guild Wars for sale at the store in high school. I always wanted to try it out but was unable to at the time. Skip ahead to college, I met my [now] husband. He and his friends got to play GW2 for a free weekend and when he told me about it I was so excited that the game I had always wanted to play wound up with a sequel. I wasn't amongst those who have played since beta, but my interest had been there since the original. My husband and I played and have kept playing. I started creating content, found great content creators and joined their communities, and even made a small community and friends of my own. None of that would have happened if it hadn't been for the love that all of you at ArenaNet have put into it over all these years. You may move on to other projects, but the communities that you have brought together with this game will continue on and will carry with them the love and passion that you all put in. I wish you all the best. <3 -ElTrio1/ElTrio.3917
- Guild Wars 2 wasn't my first MMO, but it's the only one that ever made me fall in love with it. I love 90% of the characters in it, the beautiful world, the feeling of being part of it, the community that helps eachother, the ways you can dress and design your own characters, the areas.. just everything! I never spent money on a MMO before but Guild Wars 2 is just so incredible that i wanted to spend money on it. It helped me through hard times, gave me a hiding spot, something to be proud of and invest time in! Nothing is as inspiring to me as Guild Wars 2. I dont wanna live without it (I know nothing is forever) I don't know where I would be without it today. Or if I would be. I met my best friends thanks to Guild Wars 2. I hope we will have another 5-10 years of it ahead of us. ~IsaAssalia
- Guild Wars 1/2 have been a large part of my gaming life for years. I was given Prophecies within a week of its release, which resulted in many hours spent playing the game in the college library instead of studying. I have met some of my best friends from this game and I will never forget my times in there. Thank you so much for everything you've given us... and we greatly appreciate all of your hard work. Good luck in the future! ~ Newb Kanon
- I played Guild Wars back then and started Guild Wars 2 in 2012. So I saw the complete development and I for myself think you guys did a great job and hope you can continue even after this heavy cut in people. I love the game even tho I jump in to other mmos now and then it always draws me back to Guild Wars 2. I love the Community in this game and I am quite sad to hear some veterans had to leave aswell. All love from me to you guys. ~ Becii
- While I've never played Guild Wars 1, I never expected myself to be so drawn into the world of Guild Wars 2. It's such a beautiful, vast, amazing landscape to learn and explore. Many thanks to all y'all involved in all this, and much love for the future. #Love4ArenaNet ~ Zio/hitokage.5361

- "A whole new place to qonquer!" Thank you so much for these years. You're truly remarkable people. You've given me so much happiness by contributing to such an amazing game and community. I can't thank you enough. Wish you a bright and wonderful future. Stay strong. ~ Cassie Lorraine
- "Thank you everyone for the amazing work you've done and the lives you've changed through that work. I saw a quote once that said We need fantasy to survive the reality and for me GW1 kept me sane when I lost a lot, my first MMO I marvelled at Ascalon and then the lands beyond. When GW2 came out I was there on release day to go back to Tyria and see what amazing work you'd done. For me it was more then an MMO at times, it was a safe haven when life got to much. So thank you all for your hard work, dedication and creativity. I wish you all the best for the future and all the happiness in the world" - Drakan.2673
- Thanks for my childhood. almost 10,000 hours across 7 years of Guild Wars 1. In a time where I had nobody outside of family (whom I couldn't turn to) IRL, Tyria, Cantha and Elona gave me places to escape to, something I was genuinely good at and friends to talk to. I'll never forget the memories you allowed me to have and for helping me get through teenage years alive. - Il Inuzuka Kiba Il / Jalis Ironhammers
- The Guild Wars franchise has been on the forefront of my mind since Factions. It has led to some of my closest friendships, allowed me to travel across the country and helped develop myself into the person I have become. Whether it was assisting a new player experience this wonderful world, laugh and scream with thousands of players in fighting revamped Tequatl and the Great Jungle Wurm, or cry at the beautiful story that you all have told, ArenaNet of past and present will forever be a part of my life. Thank you for everything you've done for me and countless others. I know that you will come out the other side of this painful experience and continue on to bigger and greater things. - MoS.5970 / Master Of Swordsmen
- I've been with you since start of GW1. Great times and memories. It is disheartening to hear the recent changes and wish you a speedy return to the creative field. As a fellow creative, there are a lot of talented people on this planet and the GW team made a superb game (1 and 2) that enriched our lives. Shocked to see Gaile Gray part of this departure. She was a part of this community that we considered a digital family. At least I had the honor of Gaile joining my squad on a legendary bounty run not long ago. Yes, quite a legendary journey for all of us...Phoenixwil (talk) 22:43, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for creating this different game from any other games. I am inspired by many of the ideas you brought. -Finvoker
- This game has been amazing with all the creative people behind it, I hope they all land on their feet and the game and can continue being as awesome as it has been.
- Thank you for your hard work, this game has brought me a great deal of joy and allowed me to meet some great friends. For all that are leaving, I hope you find projects that you enjoy working on and are sucessfull, bringing joy to even more people. Good Luck. XeroKitsune (talk) 23:30, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

- The Guild Wars franchise has been part of my life since the first Beta back in 2004. For all of the joy and entertainment you have brought me, I wish you the very best in your future Endeavors. -Arkoh
- GW and GW2 have been a part of what seems like all of my adult life. Thank you to everyone involved in helping bringing me, and all of us, such a good time. I wish you all the best, and am sure you will all do fantastically in the future. Im sure all of us down here in New Zealand will be glad to have you if you decide to literally move on as well! Your games welcomed us, and we welcome you. - Seravorn.
- You know, I started out playing Guild Wars when I was probably about 12 years old. I remember falling in love with the story lines and the characters and even the grind to achievements. When Guild Wars 2 was announced, I was over the moon! I started out playing the GW2 Open Beta and I have always loved this franchise. I'll admit I have left and come back several times but GW will always hold a special place in my heart as the first MMO I ever played. I will always remember the legend of a game that you guys at ArenaNet have created and you all will be dearly missed. I wish you guys all the best and I hope you continue to make waves wherever you work. You all changed the ways I looked at video games 12 years ago and I will never forget all that you have done to create exciting and innovative content for us to enjoy. I guess you could say I've grown up with you guys behind the scenes so keep up the good work and continue creating stories like mine wherever you go. Best wishes and Lots of Love <3 XOXO -Dom/Elizabeth Mystique
- Short and sweet: thank you all so much for your great work. - Dymax (aka Daniel Bush)
- I was first exposed to the Guild Wars franchise when my mother started playing at launch in 2005. She passed her love of the game on to me and my father, and we have played the original game and Guild Wars 2 together as a family ever since. Our weekly game time together has morphed into an almost 15 year long bonding tradition. Every developer of the franchise, let go or not, has played a part in bringing my family closer together. I can't even begin to express my gratitude. Sending all the love and support to everyone on the team. You have impacted many lives for the better and you deserve all the best. - Reysta
- Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 have been part of my life for the past 13 years, it's difficult to process that so many talented and passionate people have been let go from the company in this way. Due to life commitments my involvement in the community has diminshed over the years, but my love for the game and its developers remains the same. Thankyou for the thousands of hours of entertainment so far, and for the signed Christmas Card that I received in 2011 (still framed and on my on my desk at my parents' place!). Wishing you all the best for the future. - Kornysh / CornishRocker (MVOP) (RO)
- Guild Wars 2 honestly helped me get through a few hard years of my life. I've made so many lasting friendships in the game, and it's heartbreaking that this is happening. Thank you all and I hope life gives you plenty of new opportunities ♥ --khajiiti.6489
- Bears (Darius) here: Thank u so much for creating an amazing game I started back in 2012 of April when my uncle introduced me to the game and have been playing ever since in both Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 I wish u all the best of luck and always know that will be family forever and if u ever wanna see me in game my ign is as followed: GW1 = Darius Stormcharger / Guild Wars 2 = Bears Man.4896 best of luck #GuildWarsFamily
- After spending well over a thousand hours in both GW1 & 2 i'm obviously sad to see some of the people who worked on the series let go. I honestly hope the best for everyone involved and that you can continue expanding the game that everyone on here loves. -Chaos Berserker
- I've been playing both games since 2015, Tyria and her characters will always hold a special place in my heart along with their respective creators. Thanks to all at Anet for this wonderful experience. To those departing, I wish you all the best and may you bring many others joy while playing your future games like you have to the GW/GW2 communities. -Rugovin
- Thank you for a lovely 6 years. Thank you for the jumping puzzles and the audio design and all the small touches that make your world so lively. I know you'll find bigger and better.--Rain Spell (talk) 03:43, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- As a long time player of GW1 and a fan of the entire GW Universe, I give my thanks to the wonderful people who have worked so hard on it. May they find only the best in future! -TheOnyxWolf6699
- I cannot thank you all enough for everything you have given to these games and to our community. GW1 and GW2 have had such a significant impact on my life. It was through GW2 that I met some of my closest friends, as well as my best friend, who has made my life richer and more vibrant. Because of these games, I have also had the opportunity to become a permanent writer at Chronicles of Tyria, doing what I love most. Since I have been a part of this amazing family-like GW2 community, I have witnessed first-hand the camaraderie between community members and ArenaNet employees. It has warmed my heart to see how much we all matter to you and how much we matter to each other. I know I’m not the only one touched by their experiences, as evidenced by this page and the outpouring of love I’ve seen on Twitter. We all have memories we will cherish for the rest of our lives. All these amazing things were made possible because of these games, and these games were made possible by all of you. No matter your department or your role, you all made these wonderful things possible for us, and I am forever grateful for that. For those who have had to leave us: you will be sorely missed, and I wish you all the very best this life has to offer. Thank you for everything, and know that you leave behind a legacy that has brought us all together. <3 -Beka (@NiennaSLC)
- Its hard to see something like this as a positive thing, but its similar to the bitter taste that we found in "All or Nothing." There is certainly room for sadness, but under it all there is still oppurtunity and room to expand and grow. Dearest condolences. --Christian "Aise Skylance"
- I have played these games for nearly 20,000 hours, since I was 11. They've gotten me through family deaths, break ups, transitioning, and ever bump in the road, big and small. May your steps be relentless. -Scathach Ulster (IG: Astrid Williams)
- This game got me through a lot -- it was one of my biggest places to release stress and shift my mind onto more positive things when my father kicked me out of the house. Life can be rough, but humans are resilient creatures. You're all wonderfully talented, and I have no doubt the world has better things in store for you after this. Stay strong -- Petra Swiftglaive
- I can't imagine any reason for layoffs besides unnecessary cost-cutting. My heart goes out to all those who got laid off, as well as to all those who must go on without them. Together you created a game world that we all love and enjoy playing (some of us too much). Please take comfort in our outpooring of love and support. Know that the community you all helped to create is behind you. <3<3 (#Anna)
- Guild Wars 2 has become so much to me over the last 3 years. Even as a fairly new player, I was pulled into the community, the lore, and the story so quickly; it's truly a beautiful game and anyone could see that it is a labor of love and passion by the devs. The whole world is such a comfort to me, as someone who has always struggled to find a place to belong - it even allowed me to find love in my wonderful partner. I've started to play the original Guild Wars too, and I want to do more in future for this game and this wonderful community. To the ArenaNet team, please stay strong. We're proud of you, we love you and what you've created, and we look forward to playing more brilliant content in future. To those who have to leave, we wish you didn't have to go; our hearts go with you and we all hope that your futures are bright, prosperous and happy. Thank you all. - Rhianna Lilliyeth "Sugarwolf" Wolf (LittleWolf.9643)
- I have played GW2 daily since the start and it means a lot to me. I hope the restructuring of the company will lead to a refreshed, better GW2. But it saddens me deeply that so many people had to leave. You were all important and I wise you well. Rose Solane (talk) 07:23, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- It feels like the end. Thank you so much for this wonderful game, your wonderful work, all the love and emotion you have brought to our game. Marcus
- Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 have become a big part of my life over the past 6 years. THANK YOU for so many wonderful adventures. This has been devastating. Gaile Gray in particular... ANET should never have let you get away. ~ Ithilwen Nightshade.
- Wherever you go, all of you take a piece of the heart and soul of everyone who has played the game. Thank you for all these amazing and magical years, best wishes #Love4ArenaNet - Mannah.4012
- I started playing Guild Wars in 2006. One could tell that the developers spent alot of time shaping the game. Not because it was a job to them, but because it was their passion. - Miscenia Shade
- You have created one of the best games out there. At a time when the MMORPG is considered way past its prime, your work in Guild Wars 2 is one final triumph of the genre. I started playing at launch and have not stopped. That's how engrossing, satisfying, moving the world you made is. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. With great sadness, I wish you good folks were not let go. I hope you all are well even in spite of this. Hold your heads high for leaving your mark on so many gamers across the globe! --Messenger (talk) 13:01, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks to all the devs who made Guild Wars possible. I really love this game. I am proud to be a fan of this game. Thanks for all the great moments in this game. I really like all the small and silly moments in this game, like the dancing choya's, the silly racing NPC's and the beetle dancing animation. Good luck to everyone at arenanet, especially the small teams that are being hit by this (like the sound team and fractals team) -Brenda Bonefriend
- 142 months old gw1 account, and szill playing it. I think that says something. Why must NCSoft be such (self censoring)? Never liked them, they are nothing like ANet. ANet is always cares about players, and their needs! Geez, and after the inventory patch, i thought there will be some bigger care about GW1. Didn't expect this. :( - Ironfist
- sometimes i rage at the game but i really do love it , is like a second home where everything bad fades into my guild, in the dps races and in the fashion wars, thank you for delivering us something to cherish in the future i sincerely hope you guys can deliver your amazing skills in your future projects, best of luck from a random pve scrub<3<3<3
- Thank you, I remember how i played GW 1 as a Child, it was a blast. As soon as GW 2 was announced i was so happy. I remember the Betadays of GW 2 with all those little Games you provided us with. Then later as it was released i joined a Roleplaying Group and had a lot of Fun there. The Superadventure Box has a special Place in my Heart too. Even later i joined a big Community. I encountered never someone who was mean or "toxic" like in other Games. I want to Thank you for all those Memories and Friends i wouldn't have without your work and love. - Maara
- I love playing GW2 as much as i loved GW1. Thank you for bringing so many joyful hours to me and my friends. I hope everything turns good for you. Sending love from germany <3 /Teridan Erdensohn
- Thank you so much for your hard work and all the creativity that you have put into Guild Wars 2! -franzi.8513
- I'm a relatively new player compared to some others, but GW2 has been my go-to happy place after a hard day at uni, and I've met so many wonderful people and made the best memories through this amazing game. Thank you so so much for all your hard work, for dealing with us as the fanbase when we rage and whine when there are connection issues or technical problems, for making such beautiful content and especially for all the little tidbits hidden in the ambient dialogue and conversations in the maps! Wishing everyone all the best, and lots of love <3 -ShadowDove.8329
- I spend only last year playing this game and I regret that I started so late. I love the graphic and community. Thank you for your hard work ♥ -Nuris.7830
- I would like to high5 each and every member of Arenanet and thank you guys and girls from the bottom of my heart for changing both my pixel and real life for the better forever. Without you and GW2 I wouldn't have met the love of my life I can now proudly call my dear husband ♥♥♥ Cheerios! -Froudactyl
- Debo dar las gracias al equipo, a la gente, ya que ellos dieron equilibrio a mi vida, no puedo decir exactamente con palabras que es GW2 para mi, pero si se que es mas que un juego. Gracias y los mejores deseos para ustedes. Darya.3708
- I thank you for the thousands of hours over the last 6 years full of enjoyment your game has brought me and my friends (some who I met through GW2 and who are now dear real life friends). -Riva Caligo
- Guild Wars has been a huge part of my life, going all the way back to Prophecies. It was the game that really changed online gaming for me. With friends, family, and the people I met in the game whom I grew to consider both friends and family, I have made many amazing memories. Year after year. The story. The content. The art. The history. The characters. The Guild Wars universe is home for me. And, this was made possible by the amazing staff who have worked to create all this. Each and every one of you is in my heart, as I wish you all the best in whatever lies ahead. Thank you for everything. --Syrith (talk) 01:01, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Guild Wars 2 has been a place of community and fellowship for me, a place where I can connect with nearly anyone I meet in game. This could not have been possible without the care and passion that the developers and employees at Arenanet have put into the game. I am shaken to hear that so many of these people, who have dedicated years of their life into this game, have been let go; it upsets me deeply, as it does to so many who have taken to this game. To put a more positive spin on that, though, it shows how much this game, this experience, has affected us. I hope that everyone who made this world come to life will be recognized for creating one of the most personal and gratifying experiences in gaming history. I look forward to seeing what each and every one of you has to offer in your future endeavors. Thank you so much. -Tman.8325
- I started playing Guild Wars 1 shortly after the release of Nightfall, and quickly fell in love with the world of Tyria. I was intrigued by the developer of Guild Wars: someone who wasn't trying to copy the subscription model and truly seemed to want the players to be part of their imagination and creation. I played every campaign and waited with baited breath for GW2. I took part in the beta and found, while some ideas were a little too ambitious to be realized, the love for the lore and land, and desire to create a dynamic world for their players was clearly evident. Over the years, the game and world have both grown to be the incredible experience we enjoy, and I applaud you for giving so much of your time and heart to bring wonder and joy to our lives. I still play GW2 at least 5 times a week and I have you to thank for these exciting, inspiring and at times saddening moments I have experienced alone and shared with others. From my heart, thank you; I wish you the best in all you do and pray you can achieve the happiness you helped bring to so many. - Kelian Ravenwood
- I only started playing a few months ago and have been utterly enchanted by the world and the community. I'm wishing all the best to those who are leaving and those left behind. I hope that you can keep GW2 alive and well--it is far too special a place to lose. ~ Finn Winterbrook
- Words cannot express my love for how ArenaNet has positively impacted my life. Without going into detail, I will say GW2 saved my life in a very dark time. I was/am able to connect with a community filled with so much love which you all created. Every time I talked with a Dev they were so humble, so respectful, so appreciative. Godspeed to you all and much love! ~Ghost Of Legion
- Having played GW1 and GW2 since release because of my best mate introducing me to it, I have never looked back. Fond memories of 55ing (Prot Bond UW ftw!), all the way through to present day still playing. While there have been a few hiccups along the way (still raw at being caught up in the 3,800 ban wave in 2010), I still have to say that ArenaNet created an unbelievable universe to escape into. Not to mention, if it hadn't been for these games, I would never have met my eventual wife :). Good luck to those who have left and also to those still there.~ Ying Tze
- Thanks for a great game. -Saxazax
- Thank you for everything you've done and for your hard work that has made this game awesome! We'll always be mesmerized by the amazing world of Guild Wars 2...here we've found friendship, love, and we've created unforgettable bonds. Across your magic world and fantasy, our dreams have become true. We wish you good luck! May Dwayna bless you!By all [ARMA] italian guild players a great thank you! - Just.. Thanks. GW2 has been a great game and passtime for the last years.
- I started playing MMOs on my 30th birthday and Guild Wars 1 was my entry - 14 years ago - I have made many friends since then and even after almost dying from a massive stroke and multi-organ failure, I remembered them, this game and carried on. I have no false hope about what will finally happen to me in the foreseeable future but I want this game and its community to carry on when I am gone into my own 'Hall of Heroes'... "Once a Guild Warrior, Always a Guild Warrior!" - Norazul Lifetaker
- I discovered the Guild Wars franchise in the 2011, but I instantly fell in Love ith it. Thanks you for all the quality, the Story and the effort you all always put in everything you make. I'm sorry you to had to divide, i'm sorry you had to say goodbye to each other. The love and friendship you had to each other reflected in the game, making him really enjoyable. Thank you for all the feelings I had through these years. 79.26.140.129 17:53, 28 February 2019 (UTC)Eventine
- A friend of mine introduced me to GW1, and I spend a lot of my free time playing the game, and I mean a lot. Enjoying being in guilds and playing with your guild mates, doing missions and quests, vanquishing, farming items, going through dungeons, beating the opponents in PvP, having fun during the holiday events, grinding titles until you get a GWAMM, I loved it all (mostly). Unfortunately GW2 didn't manage to capture me as GW1 did but during the time I played it I still enjoyed it, so cheers and a heartfelt thank you to all those good times and good memories you guys gave me with Guild Wars. Da Mystic Reaper (talk) 18:09, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Well what can I say, I just want to give you all a really big hug. You are all amazing! Thank you <3 - Zembacz.3981
- I played many MMOs and most of them either felt like they insulted my intelligence (Metin2,Karahan online) or were a chore to play (WoW) then I downloaded GW2 for the first time I have to admit I was overwhelmed at start but I finally got to a point where I can play the game pretty well, I still remember my first Character (a condi damage necromancer) and my semi-roleplay like play style. I roleplayed as a powerful necromancer who holds back for the fun of it but as time went by with the happenings of the personal story he grew into a character that pushes himself to the fullest and actually cares about people around him that type of change in character didn't even happen in the D&D Campaigns (granted I only finished 3 Campagins at the time) but then highschool happaned, but in my senior year I got into the game again (with a different account) I am currently studying for university enterence exams and GW2 is the only game I play to let off some steam. When I get to university I will work part-time and I plan on buying the expansions with my first paycheck (I mean the economy of my country is going down the drain at this point but I can atleast dream). one last note: I am currently playing a sylvari and I have to thank you for adding a gay couple in the Green Knight personal story. As a gay guy living in a country that would hate me if they suspect that fact it is nice to see a relationship like the one I want to be in even in passing -xlr.6420
- Thank you for everything. I wish you guys all the best and that you find a new awesome job as soon as possible. (And maybe come back someday if possible <3 ) - Asche.2837
- I feel so sad about this. It is so hard! Is this really the best way to continue? 134/400 layoffs, that's terrible. I feel so sorry to anyone affected by this. Especially for Gaile, the only ArenaNet employee I frequently encountered because of her presence at the GW2 forums and the GuildWarsGuru forums in the past and because she was with ArenaNet since the very beginning. Well, for me: I'm not going anywhere. With 6815 hours in GW1 and 4734 hours in GW2 I can call Tyria my home. See you in game. Hopefully for years and years to come. Take care and good luck everyone. #Love4ArenaNet TheQuickFox.3826 Hyper (talk) 22:23, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- I bought this game long ago, when I was a teen, and saw it grow so much... I got to play with friends, meet new ones... But what always made me come back month after month, was the story, the lore, the races... Everything was so interesting, that still to this day I spend nights reading through the story of Tyria. This was the first, and so far, last game that made me cry, with sadness, with joy... And to see the narrative transform and get better with each expansion and chapter of the living world it's just amazing. I'm really sad about what the company has to go through, and I hope that everyone gets a safe restart where they can show their potential. To you all who made this amazing game possible, I thank you. Conyka (talk) 22:51, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- I got gw1 back in 6th grade, played with my dad and had the time of my life, now I find myself graduating collage and I still am playing (both 1 and 2) introducing the games friends and showing the huge world filled with adventure that has been my constant companion growing up. Thank you all for always being there and I am so sorry for those whom we have lost. Thank you for all you have done, I wish you all luck. Bio pox (talk) 23:38, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for providing a world for me to escape to. I started playing MMO fantasy games back in the early 90's, but when I was introduced to GW2 I found an online home with a wonderful community. We will miss you all and wish you luck in your future endeavors. - KaiElso
- Guild Wars was my first, and best, video game love of all time. I have played so many games over the last few years searching for the feeling Guild Wars gave me in its prime. While I still play GW1 almost daily, that element of learning and playing as a team just isn't there as it used to be. I know Arenanet was filled with so many people who had been with the company for such a long time and to know I shared some of that journey with you makes me feel great. I truly hope the best for all those of you no longer sharing this path with us and leave you with this: there is a place in the market for another game like Guild Wars made for the modern age of connected and social video gaming. I know I speak for many of us when I say we will be watching for what future projects come out of you talented individuals. Again, thank you for the great time. - Helidof/Riley
- Much thanks to you guys who have given me a virtual home away from home. It's going to be a hard and worrisome road ahead but something as good or even better will come up. That's been my experience. I especially want to thank any GM's who are among the folks leaving. They've been super helpful getting me out of dumb moves and answering my questions. Positive thoughts coming. *Salute* - Morganfey aka: Frie.2073
- I started playing GW1 when EoTN came out but didn't really get into it before I bought my first expansion: Factions. I made my first ritualist and I absolutely loved it. I now have over 20k hours in GW1, and a few thousands in gw2. I wasn't really planning on writing here but I saw that Gaile Gray had been laid off and it honestly just made me really sad. Gaile was like that one person that made ANet have such a good reputation for caring for their players. I remember seeing Gaile in LA once when I was told she was there, I played in EU, but I changed servers to have a look, I really wondered what the commotion was about. I was so amazed, all the people so excited to see her, it made me really want to become a part of a game and do the same thing, interact with the players and join in and do things with players. Sadly that isn't how MMO's are anymore, now that they are much more corporate, but it's still a good thought. I know a lot more people were laid off than just Gaile, and I hope these people find peace and new projects and goals to reach. It's really, really sad... To all of you, I quote Mehnlo "Your courage is inspirational. May Balthazar bless you for what you have done in these lands, hero.". --Eruru (talk) 12:07, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you! Because of you, I had a wonderful childhood, lot of sleepless nights (that I not regret) and also a lot of joy. - GILGAMESH.2304
- I've played GW2 since launch, and it has changed my life. Due to circumstances, I'm stuck at home. The people I've met, the experiences, and all the content has been amazing. This is a beautiful game, and the community is amazing. I can't express the sorrow I feel at this loss, and I hope like hell that NCsoft will leave anet the heck alone after this. You can't underestimate the effect this game has had on so many of us. Much love, keep the faith. ~ Kiso (Usara.1803)
- While I've had my ups, downs and long breaks from the game, I will never forget the amount of fun and joy Guild Wars 2 has given me. The endless hours of running around Queensdale doing champ farms, Lab and Istan to crafting my first Legendary, Guild Wars has and always will be a game that I can recall back to and have many many happy memories. I wish everyone who has left all the best and to know that without you, Guild Wars 2 wouldn't be where it is now. - Lowdaniel.9245
- I started playing GW1 with my son when it first came out. A great way for a mom to stay connected as he went thru the teens and beyond. When GW2 came out I could not wait for the launch and even upgraded my computer to be able to play. It has been my outlet for many stressful sleepless nights. To have such a great game lose so much at once is sad beyond words. My hope is NCsoft will find a way to put it all back together again, and not have the greatest game I have ever played become less than it should be. To all of those who are or were a part of GW thank you for everything you have and will do. You have created something that can't be duplicated and we love you all for it.
- I'm sorry about the laid offs, I love you Anet, also your game which is what saved me of my misery, you guys are great, I hope you continue with GW2 for a lot of years. Thanks for all. - Tit
- Back in 2007, i was sick, not allowed to go outside. I bought a new N64 to kill time, but I knew every game I purchased with it. The boredom was killing me. And a friend finally told me about this game named Guild Wars. I remember I've aswered him: "No thanks, you know I'm the man of only one game at a time. And I'm currently playing Zelda. And if it's a rpg, my love goes for Baldur's Gate. Even Balgur's Gate II was too "different" for me." (long talking later) "Oh Come on! It's free! Take this invitation code and give it a try! That's all I'm asking. You don't even need to play the whole two weeks. Just try and shut up!" he said. We decided to meet, 2 friends and me, to finally be guided by the first one. Couple of hours later I was in love yet! I created a female elementalist... To make her dance of course! But Guild Wars catched me completly and I erased her and made her a twin, a male. Much better to dive deeply in the story and play "seriously". The day after, I bought a magazine talking only about the game. It was a celebration matching with EotN available. All the important content was gathered inside. I spent the whole night to read it and try to understand what they were talking about. Passion began to grow. Few days later, I missed to reach Lion Arch for the Halloween Final. I was playing too slowly in the story and didn't want to be carried from a zone to another to go faster. I really stopped to check every single rock or to talk to every single NPC. I was sooo frustrated. Stuck in my appartment, I really had nothing else to do and, one thing leading to another, I quickly became Guild Master and then Alliance Master. 4.500 hours in Tyria. And i'm still playing from time to time. The important part of this story is that I met friends while playing or just chating in LA. I'm still playing with the same community that I met 12 years ago. One day, while I was recruiting in Ascalon Eden, a female monk came next to my female monk. She was the same character than me. Same hair, same size, same clothes ... everything similar but the hair color. That was fun, but I didn't really care. I was on a seriuous business. Recruiting is important. ^^" But to her eyes, our likeness was more important and she engaged the talking and she started to /dance* with my character. This friendly monk finally joined my guild. We played more and more together. Sometimes, we only connected to meet each other and only talked for hours. After few months we decided to meet irl. 11 years after, we're still married and a little boy often watches his father playing GW2. He likes the big cats from Black Citadel, but he definitly likes more the mouses from Rata Sum. Or the dinosaur and rabbit which make "pow" and "boom" when they disapear. That's my story, maybe similar to some other players around here but that is because of it that I like this game so much. It's a big part of my life. And the friends I made playing really cheered me up in dark times. I wouldn't be where I am without it. I don't know if anywhere else could be better, but I'm sure the grass is not greenner over there. Thank you so much for all you gave to me without even beeing aware of it. Arena Net, Guild Wars 1 & 2 and the community will for ever be the best. PS: I'm a lucky man who married Gwen. For real! XD -- MornJack 15:46, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you anet you just make my day :D -ARkioz.8429
- I have put so much time into GW and GW2 - it's been a major part of my life, since the beginning of time (pre-searing Ascalon, at least). No matter what else was going on, good or ill (including my own impending layoff notifications), I knew that I could have some fun at the end of the day. You folks who built this world did a magnificent job. I wish all good things could continue indefinitely. Perhaps, in a future hypothetical perfect world, they might. In the mean time, for this, for now, in this world, we the players owe you our deepest gratitude.
- I've always said that I am not so much a fan of the Guild Wars games than a fan of Arena Net - the company that showed me what can be done when you are passionate, and when you love what you do. Since my first moments in Tyria, back in 2004, Arena Net was the bar to which I compared all other game companies. Anet are my Number One and this is so because of the people that worked and still work there. Thank you for all your passion, hard work, gentle humour and epic adventure. Thank you for the journey and the fun times. Thank you for everything. We'll see each other again, of that I am certain. Love, -zpcp
- I only got into the Guild Wars universe 6 months after Guild Wars 2 was released. Although I haven't seen the world as much as other long-lasting fans of this franchise, I am absolutely in love with this game. In this short time I have had an epic adventure, playing a class that initially I only knew of it from my imagination, I have slain some dragons that felt completely new and unique, but most importantly, I have found many lovely people and made many friends with whom I have went into the deepest dungeons and onto the vastest battlefields. This is an MMO that it can improve and it still has a lot of room to be even greater. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. #Love4ArenaNet - Pishti.4769
- The last 5 years of my life have been extremely depressing for me with the loss of my father and his struggles before then. But being in this community, meeting friends theiugh it, and overall just having this game to go to when the times were rough made it better. I'm sorry I wasn't able to get on to show my appreciation to you recently because life got in the way. - Some might argue that it was "your" job to do whatever you did for the game, but we know better, "I" know better. You guys not only invested time into the games but also your heart and souls. it is so easy to spot the love you have for the games, the world and stories you built. it feels so alive, so memorable. Thank you for everything. In my language there's a saying "Careful not to dislike something that is good for you". Easy words, but I did experience them in life so wish you guys a safe travel to new horizons. - Maro.

- My Love goes out to the original creators of Guild Wars & Guild Wars 2, the writers, artists, programmers, etc., because it is your creativity and artistry that made all of this happen (and I hope those who remain working on Guild Wars 2 will continue to keep it just as fantastic as it has been since its first inception). For those who have left, be proud of what you have created together, and go now and create something equally fantastic. Don't be sad, because all of you will hold on to your friendships like a family. Look forward with excitement, to your new opportunity to create greatness. When you feel you need a reminder of how great you truly are, we will love to have you all visit us "In Tyria".
