Maps
Good morning. I've recently started editing the Spanish Wiki and I was wondering how to get some proper maps and area borders on them. I'd rather not reuse the ones from the English version because the names that appear there are, well, not in Spanish. Is there a guide somewhere I've missed? Would it require any especific software? (I don't own anything for image editing)
Another question would be how, or who, updates the map widget. The interactive map doesn't show the backgrounds of areas from the LS4, just some floating POIs and WPs on black.
Thank you in advance! Myriada (talk) 10:29, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- My suggestion to make your own Spanish zone and area maps would be to adapt the instructions on Guild Wars 2 Wiki:Projects/Maps#Instructions, i.e.: (1) Get some Image manipulation software like GIMP, (2) get some Vector drawing software like Inkscape, (3) Take high quality ingame screenshots of the zone, (4) Stitch them together in GIMP, (5) Download any svg locator image for the same zone from Category:Locator map images (the black and red file), (6) Open the svg image in Inkscape, align the Spanish high quality assembled screenshot, (7) Export to PNG, (8) Re-save the PNG as JPG.
- For LWS4 map widgets I actually had to make substitute tiles for the API via a rather labourious process. I then uploaded them to the wiki - see Category:Map raster tiles. This is hardcoded on the Zone map and infobox widgets in the source code and then each page which needs it gets "localtiles = true" in the template. This will have the same problem as the area maps since they have English names on them too. -Chieftain Alex 19:34, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- It's literally a case of opening the svg line files, then dropping the screenshot from ingame in as a background. -Chieftain Alex 16:26, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
crafting
how do i craft stuff? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 101.98.101.239 (talk).
- Hi there. Do note that this help page is for wiki questions only, not questions about how the game works. Now to answer your inquiry, you have to learn one of the crafting disciplines at a Master craftsman to start. You can read Crafting to learn more. —Ventriloquist 16:51, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
Pets
How to you get pets? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 73.51.137.203 (talk) at 02:23, 25 May 2019 (UTC).
- If you have general questions about the game, you may find the forum's players-helping-players area a more useful place to pose them (this page is focused on questions concerning the wiki itself).
- We do have a section explaining how to acquire pets which you may find helpful. If you feel the information could be more clear in that article, please leave your feedback on the pet discussion page. Greener (talk) 02:46, 25 May 2019 (UTC)
Forum Link at the Top of the Wiki Pages
I'm not quite sure where to ask this but i hope here is alright: Would it be possible that someone who knows how to could put a 'https://' in front of there please? (As in https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/ instead of 'en-forum.guildwars2.com' as it seems to be currently.) Nightsky (talk) 16:57, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- Mine just autofills to https, done anyway. -Chieftain Alex 17:21, 23 June 2019 (UTC)
- Whilst it would certainly be possible for most if not all Webbrowsers to autofill to https:// it is also unlikely (tough not entirely impossible) that any actually do. You might be 'falling' for Your Browser here which might actually do an URL redirect (or more specifically a Moved Permanently or simmelar 3XX) making it appear as if it would auto fill it whilst actually being at least one http:// request whos response in term points(/redirects) to a https:// URL. Either way; Thank You for changing it. Nightsky (talk) 19:26, 24 June 2019 (UTC)
List indentation
I've been considering listing every individual Elonian weapon drop onto map caches such as Forgotten Debris but the full list seems too bulky. On another article I've seen you can collapse it and hide it by default, but it doesnt seem to look neat when the line starts with **
, like this:
<div class="mw-collapsible mw-collapsed" style="width:30%"> ** Any [[Elonian weapons|Elonian weapon]] <div class="mw-collapsible-content"> :** {{gather|Elonian Carver}} :** {{gather|Elonian Cutlass}} :** {{gather|Elonian Firelight}} :** {{gather|Elonian Greatblade}} :** {{gather|Elonian Horn}} :** {{gather|Elonian Matchlock}} :** {{gather|Elonian Pocketbow}} :** {{gather|Elonian Recurve}} :** {{gather|Elonian Rod}} :** {{gather|Elonian Runestone}} :** {{gather|Elonian Sidearm}} :** {{gather|Elonian Smasher}} :** {{gather|Elonian Standard}} :** {{gather|Elonian Thrasher}} :** {{gather|Elonian Wallshield}} :** {{gather|Elonian Warsickle}} </div></div>
Is there a way to make it have the same indentation as the other items on the drops list? Myriada (talk) 16:11, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Late note: how to not make this page appear on the gather section of the weapons? lol Myriada (talk) 16:12, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Use Template:Collapsible section. Use single bullets for the weapons in the list, but indent them using the content style parameter on the collapsible template. Abhor 1em margin-left should do the trick. 94.8.80.230 21:47, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
API Widget
Not sure if this would be considered a 'bug'; if so, I'm sorry it's on the wrong page. Anyway, recently (past couple of days or so), the Wiki is no longer storing my API Key. Is this intended, or is there something amiss I have done? I added my API Key, again, yesterday, and find it is not stored, yet again, today. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 22:21, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- There's like 20 account widgets, which page, what's your key (can you share it), any errors in the javascript console (does the wiki clock appear?), does the api key box go green/red, browser, star sign? -Chieftain Alex 22:49, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I don't remember which pages were affected. The API Key field was just white, and I think said something like "place API key here". It seems to be working on the pages I just checked that I remember use Widgets. As far as I know, the 'clock' (you mean the one at the top of each page?) was working. If/when I encounter the issue again, I will post which page here. Thanks for replying. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 22:56, 31 August 2019 (UTC)
- Is a Widget used for Gem Store sales history? I've noticed (and fixed one) several entries have the wrong 'ending' year. Ex: Sales starts in Sept. of 2019, ends in Sept. of 2018. Inculpatus cedo (talk) 19:22, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Nah, that's all some dedicated user typing it out by hand, no template/widget/wiki magic involved, in this case perhaps incorrectly? -Chieftain Alex 20:10, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ahh, ok. Funny they should be making the same mistake again, and again. Guess I'll just edit them when I see them. =) Inculpatus cedo (talk) 20:24, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, here's a page that doesn't/didn't save my API Key: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gliding Inculpatus cedo (talk) 08:38, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

How to color?
I cannot colour the last column, any idea why? Or how I can change it?
Here is the difference between the two. First is unedited, the second is edited.

- What's going on here is that the spoiler template doesn't understand <span> tags, so the template breaks. An awkward workaround would be to add template code around the spans like so:
{{{|<span> text here </span>}}}
- ...But really, we need to improve the way the spoiler template works. We've been discussing a potential new version on Discord, which hopefully won't affect colours like this if/when it gets implemented. —Idris 17:36, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

- Actually no, its not specifically the span tag that breaks it, its because the span tag contains an equals sign.
- If you really wanted to use anything with an equals sign, you could... (Option 1) prefix the spoiled content with "1=" (because the unnamed parameter 1 is literally the same) but you can't use a table opener as the first character because you need the newline for wiki table syntax, so perhaps use html comments like i have in the example above my comment here, (Option 2) use the parser function {{#tag:span|content within span|style=color:blue}}, (Option 3) Rewrite the spoiler template with a widget, (Option 4) would be to attempt a rewrite of the template but I can't think of a way to do it which won't break. -Chieftain Alex 20:30, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks for correcting me. —Idris 20:37, 6 September 2019 (UTC)
- Ad 3) and 4). I can't really see any difference between
{{spoilers|<text>}}
and{{spoilers intro}}<text>{{spoilers outro}}
in terms of usability. The editor has to define the end of the spoiler tag anyways. However, the second one should handle, with appropriate code, any usage of vertical bars or equal signs. --Tolkyria (talk) 22:15, 6 September 2019 (UTC)

World map resolution?
I'm trying to update some outdated maps (eg. File:Fort Salma map.jpg or File:Aleem's Penance map.jpg), but they seem to have been taken at a different resolution than my game. My maximum-zoomed-in maps are 13.6% smaller than the uploaded versions. (Also in Photoshop they show up as 90 DPI resolution, while my screenshots are 96. I tried turning on the DPI scaling ingame, but it doesn't make a difference.) Is there any way around this? I wanted to just copy-paste the changed areas on the maps, so I wouldn't have to redraw the white borders, but I don't want to lose quality by upsizing my screenshots. -- kazerniel (talk) 12:31, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- Are you using full screen (no windows titlebars), or maximised?
- I can redo the entire zone map for Kessex if required. If Sparkfly is only for the blue hero point marker, I'd be tempted to ignore it. -Chieftain Alex 13:08, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
- I'm playing in windowed full screen (so only the game is visible), and my resolution is 1680x1050 px. I was more wondering about a cause and fix for this resolution discrepancy for future cases as well, but if it's unfixable then thanks for doing Kessex Hills :)
- Btw something I noticed here is that the Fort Salma text is the same size on my and the wiki's screenshots, only the actual map is different scale. -- kazerniel (talk) 18:20, 13 October 2019 (UTC)
Conjuring
Ok I have The following "Conjuring" Stone Shield, Fire Sword, Lightning Bow and well I got a forth but can't rember it right now..just got it. how do I conjure? also..how do i use a Staff/Septer? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.106.64.33 (talk) at 15:38, 11 December 2019 (UTC).
- While this is not a question about the wiki, I will give you a few pointers.
- First, it sounds like you are using an elementalist. Elementalists can use staves or sceptres as their main weapon. To see which weapon you are currently using, press 'H' to open the hero panel and then look at your equipment. If you have a staff or sceptre that you would like to use, either double-click on them from the left side of the Equipment panel, or from your inventory, 'I'. Note that after level 10, you will be able to swap your weapons between two sets, though elementalists cannot do that while in combat.
- Second, your weapon(s) generally control the skills numbered 1 through 5. Elementalists get even more options by either changing the element to which they are attuned, or through using a conjure spell. You can cast a conjure spell by assigning it to a utility slot on your skill bar. Press the little arrow above skills 7 through 9 while out of combat to assign a utility skill.
- Third, if you wish for more help from a larger player-base, I would encourage you to swing by the forums. They have a great section for players helping players which you may fight useful. You can also ask questions in-game and have your questions answered on the spot. Greener (talk) 17:32, 11 December 2019 (UTC)

LOL still learning the game I have 3 bounty notices...one of which I may have killed..if so who do I see to cash it in? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 99.106.64.33 (talk) at 23:59, 23 December 2019 (UTC).
