Typo fixes[edit]

Alright, I'm curious: how'd you do it? This is a bot account, isn't it? (I'm not criticising, btw. Your edits were good, I'm just impressed by the speed at which you found and fixed so many!) --Idris (talk) 00:50, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello! I'm a human 100%, but I am using Auto Wiki Browser for faster editing. Last night I scanned 25 thousand pages for automatically found typos (A through G) and I got about 400 I think. Now I'm just going through them and either fixing the typos or skipping edits if I think they're wrong. I'm not always accurate, but I check each of my edits before submitting (after gathering a long list of possible typos). Commenting on my talk page won't instantly shut me down but I should notice it pretty fast and stop if something is wrong. I'm also new to GW2 wiki (I have some experience with other wikis) and pretty new to GW2 overall, so if I make any mistakes please let me know :) --Notme (talk) 01:24, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Like I said, it wasn't a criticism! Bots are fine so long as they're used responsibly, but you might want to create a userpage to let people know that you're using AWB; even though I ended up not interrupting your botting by posting here (something I totally forgot might happen, so sorry about that!), it's still helpful to others to know when an account's edits are AWB-assisted, in case it malfunctions. I recommend creating another account for normal edits, if you haven't already, or add (bot edit) to your AWB-assisted edit summaries. :) Keep up the good work! --Idris (talk) 01:54, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Yup, I read the page - I'll edit my userpage in a bit and I'll probably make a notme_awb account for all AWB edits, and then continue using this one for normal edits. I'll be sure to add "AWB assisted" or something along those lines to both the userpages of the account and the edit summaries. (edit: accidentally edited without signing in, there goes public ip...) --Notme (talk) 02:18, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Just a quick thing, the link on your userpage links to the wrong page for your AWB userpage. It should link to User:Notme awb, with lowercase letters, since the username is in lowercase. I'd fix it but it's generally bad form to edit another person's userpage --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 04:02, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Just a quite note about fixing typos, gotta be careful because we do maintain typos presented in the game's dialogue and the like. I've not seen any such cases of fixing typos of verbatim copied text, but that'd definitely be a risk ran unless you have crazy magic voodoo going on (EDIT: Just read the "not a bot" part >.> But also found a couple spots where verbatim text should be kept, added sic tags but they should be verified by someone). gimmethegupgun - fixed that, konig - I checked most of them for sic tags, is there anywhere where it is always kept as it is in-game? Like I know dialogue is copied exactly, what else? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Notme (talkcontribs).
That I can think of off the top of my head, just dialogue, object/item text, achievement description, and objectives. Konig (talk) 16:11, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
