Hi, good to see you here. :) Lord Belar 01:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Yay, no welcome template to start off with! --Gimmethegepgun 01:27, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
{{welcome}} :P Lord Belar 01:33, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
If that turns into an actually used template (and it's still on my page) I'm gonna go on a vandalism spree for a day or so, k? And you're first :P --Gimmethegepgun 01:34, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh, ok. You're probably safe for the remaining week Eloc is baned. :P Lord Belar 01:38, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, and by then the resentful (and extremely annoyed) might be able to push this through --Gimmethegepgun 02:04, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Hopefully. Lord Belar 02:05, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
You don't know how tempted I am to make a welcome template right now. :P Lord Belar 02:07, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
And you don't know how tempted I would be to turn your page into this (only about 10000x longer) if you did --Gimmethegepgun 02:13, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
That's ok, I need a userpage. :P Seriously, if I were an admin (So I could promptly delete it), I'd do it. Lord Belar 02:16, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Much better without that red text any more --Gimmethegepgun 02:25, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Lol, I like it. Lord Belar 02:28, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
User talk:Aspectacle You wouldn't be the only one with a new template. :P Lord Belar 03:12, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

This wiki needs more spam. It's boring right now. :/ Lord Belar 02:11, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok, here's my idea for a welcome template :P :

Hello, {{{1}}}, and welcome to Guild Wars 2 Wiki! If you need help with anything, please feel free to leave a message at my talk page. I highly recommend that you check out the "About" page and the policy page for a brief overview about the wiki. Best of luck and happy editing! — Eloc 02:27, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

Lord Belar 02:27, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

lol, just automatically chuck Eloc in there :P Also, put the ~~~~~ in an includeonly, that should make it work right --Gimmethegepgun 02:35, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
If we did this from an anonymous ip, do you suppose eloc would get his ban lengthened? :P Lord Belar 02:39, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
lol that would be priceless. Would just have to substring it though --Gimmethegepgun 02:45, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
You'd only do it as long as they don't have CheckUser. Calor (t) 04:09, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Don't spoil our fun, we weren't actually gonna do it. Besides, thanks to his behavior, Eloc is getting everyone to hate him! --Gimmethegepgun 04:10, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Proxys ftw. Lord Belar 04:14, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Wow I certainly have a lot more messages on my page right off the bat than I got with GuildWiki! (GuildWiki forever! or at least until GW2 comes out) --Gimmethegepgun 04:20, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, because I know you from GW, and I was bored. :P Lord Belar 04:25, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, and a bit of spam is always fun. Also, in that case, maybe you should check out this page --Gimmethegepgun 04:27, 3 January 2008 (UTC)

GuildWiki vs. GWW[edit]

I've been looking through some discussion and I've been seeing a trend in some of your responses. They mainly compare GuildWiki with GWW, saying one is better than the other. However, have you actually spent enough time in GWW to see how their policies actually work, and why they were written? Have you been under a policy different to that of Guildwiki to make an appropriate comparison to another policy of another wiki?

Instead of comparing the two wikis, or the policies of the wiki wikis, could you start afresh on this new wiki, instead of saying "In general, it seems like things should run the way they are [on Guildwiki], unlike GWW". -- Brains12Talk 20:26, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

srsly guildwiki and pvx are the definition of fail, built of 12 year olds who spam each others talk pages --Cursed Angel talk 14:14, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Says the twelve year old who does nothing but spam talk pages. Lord Belar 14:57, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
Guildwiki never had that bullshit until the solid admin team put their focus on GWW (and stopped caring about gwiki, for the most part). PvX has wtf spam, but doesn't support it (and doesn't let it govern the wiki in any way). It's annoying; but honestly, I'd rather have wtf spam than a weak sysop system. -Auron 15:00, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
haider i r liek pvx cuz der i can spamm wtf al over teh pagezz cuz tahts awsom end ecuals profit lolol --Cursed Angel talk 15:23, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
So other wikis are bad because people spam irrelevant stuff on them. Sort of like you're doing now? Lord of all tyria 15:51, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
as long as this wiki dont turns out to be like those i dont bother --Cursed Angel talk 16:27, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
If GW2W doesn't turn out like those 2, then it DOES turn out like GWW. Which no one of any sanity wants --Gimmethegepgun 01:48, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Oh, so there's just two types of wikis? Nothing like middle ground, compromise, new thinking? - anja talk 10:29, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
/agree with anja. Lord of all tyria 14:59, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, considering it seems like the only ones here are the people who want it like GW and PvX OR want it like GWW, if it wasn't like GW and PvX then it WOULD be like GWW --Gimmethegepgun 20:57, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
Or it could be a compromise... It doesn't have to be one or the other. Calor Talk 21:56, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
If anything, the mix of the people from the three wikis will create a brand new wiki that's got a little bit of everything. --User Brains12 Spiral.png Brains12 \ Talk 22:22, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
A bit of the law, a bit of relaxing and casualness, and a bit of...what few good things PVX has to offer when it comes to structure. Calor Talk 00:43, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
That'd be.. uh... wizardboy? Lord Belar 03:52, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Thought so. Although I have to admit PvX does offer a very efficient first-rate spam crew. Calor Talk 04:07, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
The way I see it, "wtf" spam is never harmful. Sure, it floods Rc, but a simple minor edit button solves that problem. IMHO, this wiki should probably be like GW before GWW came into existence. There were some ugly incidents ( The mess with Stabber and her alleged socks) but the admin base of GW was awesome, mature dudes who tolarated the childish stuff that popped up now and then. When gravewit sold out, tanaric, karlos, auron, fyren etc awesome people left, and gwiki is now only a spam forum kept in check by entropy and MP47's sanity. Childish stuff brings light, but too much blinds. ( how is that for a wise saying!) --Nuclear 7 19:58, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Effect IDs[edit]

Heya,

So I'm not sure if this is relevant to what you want to know, but here goes. In order to get the ID for the effects on either a player or a mob/npc, you simply ping them to the wiki the same way you would an item. My favorite way is to type "/wiki", then shift+click the effect in question. Note that you need to click the effect (usually above the utility skills and right of the health orb) and not the skill itself. Linking the skill will give you the skill ID and not the effect ID. -Darqam (talk) 15:32, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

Yep that is EXACTLY what I didn't know and needed to. Thanks --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 15:59, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

Just, no.[edit]

Please never converse with me again, ever. --Gold Recluse (talk) 02:15, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

So rude --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 04:16, 4 June 2016 (UTC)

Skill id changes[edit]

Heya, since you seem to be correcting those ids, I managed to log all those changes (in a not so pretty way). If you take a look at [1] and scroll all the way down, you will see multiple entries logged on 22.11.2016. The number to the left is the new skill id. Unfortunately I don't have a nice date & reference file built, so you would have to look at [2]. If you scroll down to entry: "5486, Impale", that is the first changed ID skill, and everything below it is "new". If that means actually new or just a new skill ID, this list can't tell you. There's an insane amount now that I see it, but don't have an automated thingy for it yet. I might try working on that in a bit if you don't nail them all down first. -Darqam 20:42, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

It started with me thinking it was only a few but it became apparent that there were way too many and it really needs a bot --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 17:12, 23 November 2016 (UTC)

HoT stats without expansion?[edit]

So... you're telling me that it's possible to have HoT stats without owning HoT? I was certain that there were things in the way to prevent core only owners from having vipers/commanders/wanderers/etc.. I'll have to look at this in-game as it seems rather odd to me. Notably I thought you could only obtain Recipe: Commander's Orichalcum Imbued Inscription with HoT, and that those recipes only showed in WvW with HoT. Is that not the case? -Darqam 05:48, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Unless I totally misunderstood, the tag itself is to indicate if something was released in Heart of Thorns and not the the core game, not that it was exclusive to people who had Heart of Thorns. So it's totally possible to tag something as being HoT, but non-HoT people can get it, for example Pile of Flax Seeds, anybody can buy, even without HoT. =) - Doodleplex 05:55, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
Aw crap I didn't notice that Provisions Master requires HoT. So yeah, it's HoT only --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 06:15, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
Ok good, you had me terribly confused for a while. Also thanks for the note doodle, I think I do remember knowing that at some point but did forget.-Darqam 15:04, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

That weird gif[edit]

Would you like the original screenshots/frames to try to completely remake it? - Doodleplex 21:52, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

I was just trying to see if timing differences would fix it (based on the error message the thumbnail gives) --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 22:08, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Ah, gotcha. Well, that eliminates time, size and name, so maybe it's just how the program is saving the file...*ponders* - Doodleplex 22:12, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

Stealth is not a stealth?[edit]

Could you please give more detailed explanation instead of short note here? --109.252.107.1 10:10, 29 April 2017 (UTC)

As noted on Stealth Activation (Wode's Rifle), the effect it provides is Invisibility (Jahr Duskrend's gear), not stealth. It's more of an aside to the main point though, that the stealth page doesn't list bundles, and none of the effect list pages list heart-specific bundles because they can't be used except in that heart --Gimmethegepgun (talk) 10:37, 29 April 2017 (UTC)
OK, that's more clear. Some comments from my side:
1) Partially agree. Indeed, the applied effect is invisibility, which is somehow different from stealth. On the practical side, it works similarly if we want to move unnoticed by the foes nearby. But it would have a sense to mention that from the point of strict classification the name Stealth Activation is misleading.
2) Partially disagree. This particular bundle is not tied to the heart and can be taken any time before or after the completion of this heart. There are two different heart-related bundles: weapon given by quest giver, which cannot be taken later, like Lyan's Grenade Kit, and weapon available from the racks, like this Wode's Rifle or Essence Coagulator. These can be used by everybody while in the area, sometimes almost as efficiently as a profession-related weapon, not to mention the skills which can be unavailable for particular profession. So, if someone wants to have a stealth-like effect in Blazeridge Steppes, like for a run to JP nearby, it's a good choice (practically tested). Whether it is worthy to be mentioned in the corresponding article (other than Stealth maybe) or not, you can decide by yourself.
Anyway, thanks for quick reply! --109.252.107.1 13:13, 29 April 2017 (UTC)
