Much obliged for your assists with the crustacean issue. I'm sure it's far from the last time I'll need your assistance, but I'll try to keep it to a minimum. Thanks again. Redshift 02:59, 7 July 2011 (UTC)

my userpage

I think I said this before, PLEASE use my talk page to mention changes to my page, even if its links. >=/ That kinda upsets me when somebody not me changes 'MY page. Please, please, PLEASE, in the future, use my talk page to mention changes. grr. ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 18:28, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

You know you can see the differences between edits? For an edit as unsubstantial as Konig's, I wouldn't get too upset. Of course, it's your page/your rules, but if you go to your page's history, you can compare the previous two revisions to see what the change was.-- Shew 20:17, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
You never told me (just searched my archives), but I'll keep such in mind. And as Shew said - you can look to see what the edits are. Sorry for wanting to clear up categories which are not part of your userspace. Also: Feisty! Me likes. Konig/talk 20:54, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure it was you who last time made a change from the category of users who prefer or favor elementalists, or whatever it was, to users who ARE elementalists, just because it's the close enough actual category... I removed that change, with an edit summary of "close enough is not the same thing, use my talk page to suggest edits to the page, don't just go changing my page" - that's on my edit history for anybody to see as well. And shew, i know i can see the dits to see how minor it is, but i still don't like somebody changing my page, and i wouldn't directly do it to anybody elses - that's changing the source, which nobody would do with any other type of source. It's better to suggest to someone to make a change than making the change yourself. That's just like proofreading. You don't make the change to someone else's work; instead, you tell them how to fix it themselves. That's almost a rule and courtesy that needn't be spoken... That's not quite feisty, konig, just respecting someone else's personal space. Even with good intent, that's still a little too intrusive. ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 23:27, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Checking your userpage history, yes that was me and yes you reverted that change but I never saw it and a summary isn't really telling me, but saying something intended for me.
There is also a huge difference between changing someone's userpage and altering the categories when the categories are getting re-worked. To you, "users who are elementalists" and "users who favor elementalists" are different, but to the categories they are not. Same with the Balthazar situation. Clearing out categories is not editing the userpage, in the non-technical sense, but rather is editing the categories. I'm sorry if it offends you, but making a topic on a talk page for something so beyond bloody minor and something which, truth be told, is irrelevant to your page in the long run, is imo pointless and causes more hassle than just making the edit oneself.
And I wouldn't compare it to proofreading per say - that is, editing the categories is not changing the work, if I were to have replaced one of your self-created and maintained userboxes with a userbox template that is exactly the same, then it would be, but altering the categories is more like adding a missing period that's undeniably meant to be there.
But whatever - pointless argument is pointless. I'll try to keep in mind, but there are so many users and so many minor changes that it's nigh impossible. Especially when in the past I was told by admins that editing others' userpages is okay if and only if it's to fix non-userpage situations - for instance, categories. Konig/talk 23:42, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
O.O --Moto Saxon 23:44, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
Again, one of those needn't-be-spoken courtesies. Just please keep it in mind for the future; thanks. Favor and Revere are also different to me, because I don't plan on ever playing a human and revering Balthazar, but as a sylvari, I do favor him among the "true" gods... But this is probably going to be the only category to state my preference of Balthazar, so I'll go with it, but its one of those things that again CAN matter, so it's not as trivial as it may have been originally thought. That's my reasoning for asking for something on the talk page first - one person's view does not automatically mean it is the other person's view. ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 00:20, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
View has little say in the matter - it's how the categories are documented. It's silly - nay, redundant and idiotic - to have multiple categories pertaining to the same thing. Not many people care about these specific categories' names, truth be told - you're the first I've seen that gives any more than a skritt's ass for them outside of the duplication issue and organizing them - so if you want to rename them go ahead. I was merely putting a single naming consistency and removing the non-existent category from your userpage.
But all of this is moot. Also: Feisty girl. <3 Konig/talk 01:25, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
You had an extra : in there, it looked like 2 different replies... And I feel that "feisty" is completely stacked against me. No matter how I reply, even denying it, will only make it seem like I am, even if just for denying it. =/ And a skritt's ass is a little small... I care about my own categories, how I choose to categorize myself, how i choose to be viewed by the world (or in this case, the wiki) about as much as an elder dragon's ass. And we all know how massive those are. (Kralkatorrik was an entire mountain range, just think about HIS huge butt!!) It really is important to me, though... ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 02:10, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
Feisty isn't a bad thing. I like feisty ladies. And I said more than a skritt's ass - indicating how nearly non-existent others care for the topic. And I'd rather think about a hot lady's butt than a wrinkly old dragon's. Konig/talk 04:07, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
That's all fine, but just keep my butt out of your mind, please... Same goes to Felix, if you ever read this... And actually, everybody else (save one). That includes the rest of my body... I refuse. =I ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 04:17, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey, I never said your butt. I said a hot chick's butt. I don't know if you're hot. I know your feisty when it comes to labels on you though. Konig/talk 08:01, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm not feisty! T~T And I'm not ugly, but I don't know what your tastes for "hot" are, so I'll just be quiet on that matter... I'm "hot" enough for my boyfriend though, but well... This conversation is still slightly awkward. ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 14:10, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

Dream

I had a dream last night that I was making edits on this wiki and you were consistently correcting me. I don't find those kinds of dreams pleasant, especially when they're somewhat true... :( --Xu Davella 02:22, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

I don't know if I'm more worried that you're having dreams of editing the wiki, or if you're having dreams of me. Konig/talk 03:52, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

Asura

So...is everything referred to as Asura? So you'd say "I'm an Asura mechanic" instead of "I'm an Asuran mechanic". I think there's a couple of loose articles that may need tying up. --Xu Davella 01:59, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Asuran is the possessive term. I think for your example (how the race's name is used as an adjective) it'd be the former, but I'm not certain on that. Although it'd be asura/asuran, not Asura/Asuran. :P Konig/talk 02:30, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Working

I'm working on a new character template that 1. won't be expandable/collapsible 2. won't feature multiple characters. So basically, you'd have a subpage for each character. The only information that will be present on each template call is the character creation information. Everything else will be optional. Imagine these optional things as widgets on Google Desktop. Among these would be the skill bar, self-written biographies, and other information (HoM, traits, etc.). If you're still planning on working on your own template, then that's cool, but if you're interested in helping me out, I could use some advice on what features people would probably be looking for.-- Shew 03:25, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

If I like yours, then I'd stop making mine and just delete what I got. We'll see. Konig/talk 04:45, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
I didn't know you even started. :p Can I see?-- Shew 04:48, 25 July 2011 (UTC)
I actually haven't had time to work on it outside of figuring out the coding of each page. Not much I think at least. Come Wednesday I'll finally get time to implement what I want.Konig/talk 04:56, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Halp me!

Hey I'm writing some back-story RP for one of my characters and went to get some info about Jade Wind Orbs off of GW1wiki but there's not enough info on there - so I'm going by memory. Was there ever any lore info on Jade Wind Orbs? I very vaguely remember something about them being a reminder about the jade wind...but I'm not 100% certain? You're like, the expert guy on lore. :) --Xu Davella 12:48, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I entered the GW world during Dragon Fest 06, so I have no to little experience with the event myself. Best I can think of was the collector mentioning something about it and that they were rewarded in some PvP event that happened in the Jade Sea area. If you haven't, check GuildWiki.org - I'd go for the hat collector's dialogue for 06. Konig/talk 21:31, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Anyways, my highly fallible memory wants me to believe that they are pieces of the Jade Sea. Konig/talk 21:41, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Hrm yeah I'll run with that then. Thanks! --Xu Davella 01:32, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

the new-old mashup

Ok. I have a few questions for you about the direction of this revamped template (you know the one I'm talking about).

1. Are you fine with me using the skill bar template I just finished in the template?

Actually...that's the only question.-- Shew 18:49, 29 July 2011 (UTC)

It's your template, I won't be using it. I may steal stuff for my revamping of your old template though. Konig/talk 21:32, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Hmmm, the only thing I'd argue that your skill template is missing would be the health orb and the energy bar. Assuming they haven't changed it of course (highly possible). Konig/talk 21:40, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah...wasn't planning on adding them. But maybe...maybe. I was just gonna keep it as skills/mechanics bar.-- Shew 22:18, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
But making a nice shiny ball would make it so purty! Konig/talk 22:59, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Fine...><-- Shew 23:43, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Hey, just do what you want. :P Dunno why you're having me dictate your templates. Konig/talk 23:54, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Yeah i was about to cross out my statement before you edited. :P It'd make it too big. I'll find another way to incorporate it, but I really just want this skill bar to be about skills. But you have good input, that's why I was asking.-- Shew 23:56, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Well then make that skill bar about the skills, and another for the full design. Feel free to go and make it here if you don't intend to have it switching. :p Konig/talk 23:59, 29 July 2011 (UTC)
Well Infinite's already has the non-switchingness, doesn't it?-- Shew 00:22, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
I thought he intended to add switchingness? But he also lacks energy bar and the fancy profession-specific stuff. Also I rock. Konig/talk 00:23, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
When all in-game skill bar UI is final, I intend to make my skill bar templates reflect the in-game ones exactly. I will also keep the current non-switching, purely aesthetic skill bar template for use if users would like that. :) - Infinite - talk 01:26, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Looks good, Konig! Where'd you get the background? Is that on the site anywhere? *eyes it with interest*-- Shew 06:47, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Stolen (with love) from Infinite. Konig/talk 07:14, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
I wish I knew the whole #if lines in wiki code better - rather, how they work. I'd like to set some up around the second, third, and fourth images so that they disappear when not in use... Also gotta figure out why the background wasn't becoming translucent..</. Konig/talk 07:22, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

[1]-- Shew 14:19, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Back to one thing: since you'd be stealing pieces from my template, what are those pieces you would steal so I can just make those instead of the entire template?-- Shew 15:36, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Thanks. And it depends on the things you make and how. For instance, if I like the skillbar, I may steal that; if I like the biography pieces, I may steal that. etc. Konig/talk 21:28, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

I'm finished doing biography stuff, I think. I made this template so that I would simply be able to call it in all the character templates rather than redo the whole biography section. I'll just keep working on these small, non-user page templates then. Actually, scratch that. Now that I know how to simulate a drop down menu...I may have to do something with that...:P-- Shew 21:34, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Did you know there's a full version of the userbox image? I don't know if it might be more ideal or not. :) - Infinite - talk 22:57, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
I knew, never looked at it though, but knew. Looking at it now, I like the one I'm currently using more. I like the fade-away. Konig/talk 22:59, 30 July 2011 (UTC)
Would you mind uploading transparent versions of this and this for me? :S I keep trying to upload a transparent one...but it's not working, apparently...-- Shew 01:51, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Border one is done. A minor issue with the tab one - Color to Alpha apparently which removes the color even removes shades of it. So the tab, being a light brown, becomes partially transparent. Konig/talk 02:10, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Since the file requires to not be jpg, as jpg cannot hold in transparency, I uploaded the transparent 'tab' one at File:User_Shewmake_tab.png. Over white, it looks fine, dunno about over other backgrounds. Konig/talk 02:13, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks, Konig. For some reason, even though they were transparent in GIMP, they wouldn't upload as transparent images.-- Shew 02:14, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
If you were trying to save as jpg that would be the reason, otherwise dunno. Konig/talk 02:16, 31 July 2011 (UTC)
It's still not transparent, lol. Well...it is when you copy it on the file page, but when you click the image and copy/paste the larger version, it's still opaque, so my guess is that it'll take a little time to process.-- Shew 02:18, 31 July 2011 (UTC)

Biography redundancy

I honestly don't see that as a valid reason to delete any of the articles on CFD. We don't have enough information to expand the individual articles right now, but the same could be said with pretty much every skill in the game as well - and we aren't going to axe those, either. Is it the end of the world of the wiki keeps an article on the Sylvari seasons or Asuran colleges in the hopes that they get more stuff added to them when the game comes out? -Auron 18:10, 21 August 2011 (UTC)

It is in my opinion that pages that talk about a single biography option are inferior to larger articles that talk about the changes caused by the different answers per question. Furthermore, deletion tags are there to instigate discussion - now there is one at Talk:Biography#formatting bio answer pages and Talk:Cycle, though there wasn't when I tagged them.
We currently haven't indication that most of those phrases will be important outside of a theme for some or all of the personal story. The differences in theme, should that be the case, can be placed on a general article, Personal story for instance (or character creation, particularly for the options that alter appearance. At most, they'll cause a different storyline in which case the optimal scenario would be to create a [[List of missions]] and/or [[Storyline of Guild Wars 2]] or some variations thereof, and perform the same or similar structure, in basic layout, as gw1:List of Eye of the North primary quests.
Furthermore, it is unrealistic to make a page titled after each answer or to use pre-existing pages for them simply because the former results in articles titles 'Instinct' and 'Dead Sister' while the latter results in articles like Grenth being filled with two separate topics, and to create new articles named similarly to pre-existing ones when we have no clue hoe small or big the differences will be is rather... Well, idiotic.
Finally, the sylvari no longer are influenced by the seasons as previously told - this has simply become a cosmetic theme of minor influence to, well, anything. So those should be deleted. The cycles are of debate. And to end this off, consensus is going the route of above - to document them, but not individually.
And to answer your question: no. But that doesn't mean it is efficient. Konig/talk 18:29, 28 August 2011 (UTC)
