Thank you[edit]
For cleaning up the Accessory articles. - Yandere 16:51, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
- No worries. I fear I may be a tad OCD. :) - Endeavor 16:51, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Thanks[edit]
Thanks for the advice for renaming all files. However there's a little problem with that. A lot of icons have the fullname already taken. This is why I'd like to stick with the _GS abbr. (X08 18:34, 11 August 2012 (UTC))
- No worries, just use the fullname and if it's taken, check that file.. if it sucks, upload a new version. Just try to avoid abbreviations. - Endeavor 18:37, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- If you take a look at http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Category:Weapon_icons user:Rari uses full names for icons. I don't want to upset him/her (X08 18:39, 11 August 2012 (UTC))
- Yeah, then what you need to do is write on his talk page and ask him. He'll be able to help you further. :) - Endeavor 18:41, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- One last question though. Am I able to change filenames? Since you did :P I'm curious how that works =) X08 19:02, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Of course, once you do enough contribs you'll be automatically added to Autoconfirmed Users and have the ability to move files. - Endeavor 19:05, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Would be it too much to ask of you to rename all swords to have preview in front of them? This would sort alot of things, since Rari is kinda knee-deep into being good at wikishit :P and I'm just a noob X08 19:27, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Can you give me an example? I'm confused. - Endeavor 19:28, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Nightmare_Greatsword.png would become Preview_Nightmare_Greatsword.png .. That way I won't mess with other people's business and still have what I want =) And since you did rename them in quick succession I believe you have tools to rename all of them quite quickly =)
- I think we should leave them as is. It'll avoid a lot of renaming and moving later on. - Endeavor 19:30, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- The names must reflect the ingame name. Unless the ingame name is Preview Nightmare Greatsword then it'll be changed to that. - Endeavor 19:31, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
A friendly advice[edit]
GW2W is not Wikipedia. :) Just a friendly heads up. Some things are done a bit differently around here. Welcome to the community! It seems you've had a fantastic start already, and I hope you do great things here. Mediggo 20:47, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks! Yeah, it's much kinder. - Endeavor 20:48, 5 August 2012 (UTC)
Opinion.[edit]
I need your opinion on something; should the file on the top right (the picture actually be an icon? So let's say it'll be "File:Accessory icon.png" instead of "File:Accessory.png"? Think in terms of armor. So we'll be able to have a screenshot or a render as the normal naming than the icon? Just an idea and it'll require a lot of moving. - Endeavor 18:56, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- The standard usage is for icons to be PNG format and for screenshots to be JPG format.
- Also, we're going to (eventually, although I guess this needs to happen pretty soon now) have galleries for both armor and weapons with multiple screenshots, so there's going to have to be an extended naming scheme for screenshots anyway. —Dr Ishmael 19:52, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- Ok good, this just came to mind when I moved all those pictures a while back. - Endeavor 20:05, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
New computer[edit]
So as I was playing GW2 today, I noticed that my processor was lacking some serious stuff. I did some research through the Windows Experience data thing in system settings. My processor scores a 4.9 whilst the second lowest rating was a 6.8 (which is pretty good for a Nvidia 8800GTX). I was looking at a: motherboard, processor, and more ram. All adds up to roughly $423 USD. My question is;
- Is the ram matching up with the motherboard, from what I can tell it does but I need verification.
- Are these great prices?
- Endeavor 05:43, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
- I can't really speak to the value of the MB/CPU, since I didn't even consider AMD when building mine in January (Core i5-2500K). But I have the exact same RAM (in blue), and yes, that's a good price - I got mine at $85 from Amazon, but right now they list the exact same price as Newegg. However, the MB you linked says it can handle up to DDR3 1866 without overclocking, so you'd probably want the 1866 version of the Vengeance for ~$20 more, which is a lot cheaper than Amazon's price. —Dr Ishmael 12:25, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
- Though I was asked to reply (which I will happily do), I must admit that I don't actually know anything of value about hardware. I know that sounds odd for a wiki fanatic, but it's unfortunately true. I hope the Doctor here, amongst others, can help you figure out what you need to know! Sorry and good luck! :D - Infinite - talk 14:29, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
- I don't know much about video cards, but dang, that looks nice. A friend of mine upgraded his and his wife's computers a couple months ago with something in the GTX 400 line and gave us their old GTX 240's, which run GW2 perfect at max settings, so they're good enough for us (we don't play much of anything besides GW). —Dr Ishmael 17:50, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah? I looked at this card on their website and its settings for WoW, the newest expansion. It said it can run it maxed with an average FFP of 70~85. The strange part is that my video card right now isn't that bad; it can run Skyrim perfectly. The only thing bugging me down is the processor. But hey, if I'm going to upgrade the motherboard and processor I mind as well upgrade everything else too. - Endeavor 18:49, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
