Hi there. I notice that many of your edits have been removing or changing correct information. I'm not sure if you're deliberately vandalizing, or simply experimenting, but if you need a space to experiment without the risk of getting banned by admins who assume you're a vandal, you're welcome to use our Sandbox. :) —Idris 04:45, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
- Also, there's the "Show preview" button available to test your edits prior to pressing "Save changes" - please feel free to use show preview as many times as you like before submitting changes. -Chieftain Alex 17:49, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
Accuracy of ingame transcriptions[edit]
Hi there. I'd like to make a point about the accuracy of transcriptions from ingame content, particularly for dialogue. A couple of users have commented on it in their edit summaries which you may have missed, but as I'm not sure you have seen their summaries, I thought I would try and explain their intent here. Putting it simply: "We try to make the dialogue sections on wiki-pages look as similar as possible to ingame."
This includes both grammar things like capitalization and plurals, plus details like the names of characters. Changing either could change the feel or meaning of the sentence, but could above all not truthfully repesent what is stated ingame.
As an example, see the following, taken from this edit:
Original text (as appears ingame) |
Your story will be epic then. I assume your destiny is linked with Caithe's or she wouldn't have shown such an interest in you. You'll make the Pale Tree proud, I'm sure.

Text after the edit in question |
Your story will be epic then. I assume your destiny is linked with Caithe's or she wouldn't have shown such an interest in you. You'll make the Pale Mother proud, I'm sure.
|
For reference, here is an ingame screenshot with the relevant bit of text marked: https://imgur.com/bEVjZd1 - it clearly states "Pale Tree". I, and other editors, are honestly confused as to why you're changing the text in many cases since it appears you are changing correct text to incorrect versions. Just checking - are you using English as the language ingame? If you're translating from another language it may not be the same. -Chieftain Alex 18:46, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
- FWIW on a couple of occasions it appears that you've attempted to add a wiki-link to a piece of text, but the appearance of the link is not identical to the original - use something like
[[link destination|appearance of the link]]
per Help:Cheatsheet. If you have any further questions about how to link to pages while retaining the original appearance of the link, please ask, and we'll try to help. -Chieftain Alex 18:48, 18 February 2020 (UTC)
Sickly Quaggan[edit]
Nice find there, noticing that the Sickly Quaggan because an icebrood after it died. I changed the tag to note that it's a lore discrepancy, since it's likely that a writer simply forgot Jormag couldn't do that yet, but either way, thank you! - Doodleplex 23:38, 29 February 2020 (UTC)
Consistency[edit]
Thank you for your contributions to the Guild Wars 2 wiki. Some of your edits help improve the quality of the wiki. Others, however, and downright vandalic acts, such as example 1; or gibberish, such as example 2; and sometimes simply wrong information, such as example 3.
While we do appreciate your good contributions to the wiki, please refrain from creating these aforementioned questionable edits. Furthermore, remember you can use the Sandobx for testing anything. Warming Hearth (talk) 21:23, 2 May 2020 (UTC)
NPCs in dialogue[edit]
Hi, just so you know, NPCs that are only mentioned in passing dialogue rarely get pages, and if they do it usually means they are historical figures from Guild Wars 1. This is not the case here, so your edits have been undone. Also have you considered making an account here? It may benefit you more to do so. Cheers! - Doodleplex 18:07, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
