location?[edit]
found this video at 07:54 theres a floating tower? do you think its this wizards tower? Getefix 22:27, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's the Wizard's Tower. Another video showed it from a different cliff and but didn't show where it was located. Hadn't seen this video yet, does it show where it is located in this one? 22:37, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- Here's another vid showing the tower. I believe theres one or two more somewhere... The village it can been seen from is called Isgarren's View in Kessex Hills. {{SUBST:User:Thelordoflard/Sig}} 01:47, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- When they said that Wizard's Tower was going to have moved, I was expecting it to move more than that. It looks like it only moved the length of Sanctum Cay in these 250 yrs. 07:11, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
- Pretty much. Why did you expect a fortress to move far? Also, we knew the distance moved for a long time (we got a proto-map of Kessex Hills long before we knew it was called Kessex Hills at a con years back - same time we learned of the "Tengu Wall"). Konig/talk 02:32, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Just unhitch the chains, push it a little to the left and voila! - new location. :) --Xu Davella 09:24, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- I want to go to there... Wanted to since prophesies and i think i'm not the only one. Sjacie 07:48, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

References seemingly outdated/not relevant =[edit]
The references/links don't seem to contain any information on this landmark, and the second link is broken/leads to nowhere.
Any way in?[edit]
Is there a way there?Knighthonor (talk) 03:39, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- Sadly there is not. I believe it's outside the map boundary as well, so I'm not sure you can even mapbreak there, but I haven't broken out in a long time.--Rain Spell (talk) 05:25, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
Trivia[edit]
"that makes it relevant to the gw2 forums, not gw2. The tower does not exist in gw2, and the only purpose of this note is to state that this is not related to something that doesn't exist. a similar note is already on gww, which is where it belongs" The GW2 forums ARE relevant to GW2. It's in the name. I see zero harm in keeping the note on the page as it documents nice-to-have information that isn't easily accessible anymore. Why would you remove information from an article? talk 18:06, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- Because it's not relevant to gw2. Only someone who has played gw1 will get anything out of that note. The note is relevant to gw1, and has no bearing on gw2. GW1 contains both the gw1:Wizard's Tower and the gw1:Wizard's Folly tower. Guild Wars 2 does not contain the latter, let alone make any mention of it. If a player doesn't even know one of them exists, then they would have no reason to think that this tower is related to the other - because they wouldn't even know the other existed. horrible | contribs 18:12, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- I agree with the inclusion. The question being posed on the forum means there is someone who could mistaken the two even in GW2 + a GW2 dev answered the question. Could be even tweaked that its fate has not been revealed in GW2 yet, making it even more relevant. There is literally zero harm having the trivia here. ~Sime 18:15, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- What's with people's obsession on deleting information from the wiki? It's presence causes no harm, but yet "it isn't immediately relevant to 100% of the readerbase so we must remove it" seems to be the running mentality. There is no reason to delete the information. The fact someone added it, and it not being wrong, proves that people find it worth including.
- And why is someone who has actively stated to hate the game also actively editing the wiki for the game by... removing things from it...? Usually, that'd be considered a troll's actions. 35.128.192.3 18:17, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

(Reset indent) "Because it's not relevant to gw2". Ok. Why is it not relevant? "Only someone who has played gw1 will get anything out of that note." Ok. So what? There's plenty of people who played both games. Should we favour one over the other if there's zero harm in keeping the note? Please explain yourself more clearly, because your reasoning is very hard to understand, Horrible. talk 18:22, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) GW2W doesn't include things just because they don't do harm. Articles and information have to have a reason to exist, as many talk page discussions have shown. The question was in reference to gw1 informaton, it was on the gw2 forums because that was the only official forum at the time. I suggest you re-read the original question, which was specifically about gw1:
- "Q: Do the wizard towers in Kessex Hills and Ascalon have any relationship? What´s the story behind them and what happened to the Ascalonian one?"
- "Jeff: I think the two towers are similar chiefly because of the chains. The idea of chaining down your tower makes sense for when you are dealing with particularly powerful powerful magics allows you to move the tower away from populated areas when you are experimenting with particularly powerful energies, and, of course, to move away once something has gone horribly, horribly wrong. The tower in Kessex Hills was in a nearby location in GW1 and was towed to the present location. The one from Ascalon in GW1 is missing and its fate is unrevealed."
- The second tower only exists in gw1:Wizard's Folly, a GW1 zone. It's a GW1 question.
- The trivia note is present on gw1:Wizard's Tower, where it belongs. horrible | contribs 18:23, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
(Reset indent) "Articles and information have to have a reason to exist" — the trivia note has a reason to exist. Only you claim it doesn't. "I suggest you re-read the original question, which was specifically about gw1" — except, it isn't? GW1 isn't even mentioned. The first tower mentioned is the Wizard's Tower, which also exists in GW2, and its fate is compared to the gw1 tower in Ascalon. Now tell me, how is this not a gw2-related question? talk 18:30, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Issue is, you're [horrible] removing all references to GW2 away from GWW as well. So eventually, just like you removed something of importance despite consensus saying not to, you'll probably just remove that "where it belongs" trivia note. These are actions that Lon-ami got banned for.
- And still, why does it not belong? You've not answered. It's talking about the lore, which is shared between the two games. 35.128.192.3 18:32, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Because the basis of the question relies on GW1 knowledge only, and does not depend on any GW2 knowledge. A player with only GW1 knowledge would fully understand the question. A player with only GW2 knowledge would not understand the question.
- This question has come up countless times since well before GW2's launch, both here and on GWW. GW1 info belongs on GWW, and GW2 info belongs on GW2W. horrible | contribs 18:36, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- I never played GW1. I do understand the fundamentals of the question though. Who are you to assume whether I or others couldn't understand the question? Again, your reasoning is very hard to understand. Please try to explain yourself better. Right now, it seems your reason for removing the trivia note is very subjective. talk 18:39, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- Please re-read my statement. You have gw1 knowledge, likely because you were able to read the corresponding wiki article linked with {{gww}}. My reasoning is far from subjective. On the contrary, you have failed to give any reasoning behind your claim that this is relevant to gw2 while ignoring the entirety of my reasoning. horrible | contribs 18:42, 23 November 2020 (UTC)

(Reset indent) I didn't read the GW1 article, so your assumption is incorrect. Also, please read the other responses here if you haven't already. talk 18:45, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) I would argue that a fair bit of the information we have about Cantha does not belong on this wiki, yes. There is obviously enough for an article, especially given the hints of future expansions, but I'm glad you agree. horrible | contribs 18:45, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) I agree with Horrible's rationale. IMO the original question was a GW1 question only asked on the GW2 forums because there wasn't a more appropriate venue at the time. The trivia belongs only on GWW because both towers existed only in GW1. Wizard's Folly neither exists in GW2 nor has had any appreciable impact on the events of GW2; it doesn't merit mentioning in any way, but especially not only in the negative. - Felix Omni 18:48, 23 November 2020 (UTC)
