Talk:Water Attunement

"freezes enemies around him[1]" I was going to change this so that it wasn't gender-specific, but then realised that the reference does not specify that the attunement has this effect. Is the info from a different source, or should it be removed? ,,"Klumpeet",, 15:17, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

It's the old bug with dpl and ref on the same page. Look at the code, you'll see that the ref for the freezing part is GW2 design manifesto. Chriskang 16:17, 24 July 2010 (UTC)
Also, "him" isn't exactly gender-specific. -~=Ϛρѧякγ User Sparky, the Tainted guided sig.png (τѧιк) 00:54, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Really not sure about the freezing thing. Probably not a passive effect. Anyone know more about it? Thering 15:32, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
I believe it's an effect when you switch to water attunement nearby enemies are inflicted with the Frozen condition. - Giant Nuker 19:13, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

does anyone else realize that water eles are replacing monks and healer? or is it just me? seems like over half the water ele skills (including water attunement itself) heal allies. i was excited to hear there wassnt going to be a healing class (and my primary for gw1 is monk.) now it just seems like more undelivered promises.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by 174.110.133.90 (talk).

You do realize that, along with the Water Attunement, there are only 3 Elementalist weapon skills (at the moment) that actually heal allies, and only 1 of them is a "heal only" spell whereas the other two are attacking spells that heal allies who happen to be near? Not even close to being "half of the water ele skills". 68.144.97.124 07:16, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

i suppose well find out when the game is released, although to be fair the "world exclusive" article in pc gamer referred to one of the party members he played with as the "healer" several times, not to mention the flow chart that specifically gives you the scenario that your "HEALER" has died in a game where there is not supposed to be a healer.--The preceding unsigned comment was added by 174.110.133.90 (talk).

Firstly, that article is based off of the mindset of the archetypical MMORPG and it is a little flawed with typos and incorrect references. Secondly, what does this entry have to do with your previous post? It's not exactly a rebuttal. It's been mentioned that there will be a class that resembles the monk BUT it has also been stated that the monk playstyles (healing, condition removal, buffs, and smiting) will be split among the other professions (and it has already been done). Time and time again ArenaNet has also said that the self-heals of each profession will be stronger than the ones others can give to you so they aren't exactly a full on healer. It would be like calling a full scythe Dervish with "Imbue Health" (don't know how to link it) a healer. Yes, there will be a profession (Elementalist) or two that can give SOME healing (and as it stands, it's exceedingly minute) but to say that by having that miniscule addition has caused "more undelivered prmoises" from ArenaNet is a little wrong. Don't get me wrong, I see where you're coming from but the Elementalist is in no way a Monk (healer) and it is nice to have a profession or two that can give that tiny extra bit of health so you can heal yourself without lowering the output of damage on the enemies. I like a contingency plan in a pinch. 68.144.97.124 07:53, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
The way I saw it from the article was that, although none of the classes are dedicated healers, one of the players in his group was acting as a healer. Hence when that character dies the others must act to get them back up again or one of them must shift into a more supporting role. As each class is flexible, it is possible to heal as many different classes as long as you are set up for it, but there are no classes (like the monk) where healing is the only thing it can do (I mean come on, only a few smiting skills are used for specialised builds). Healing, like it has been said, is now not restricted to any one class. So you will not have a "monk" feel for any class. If one traditionally played a monk in GW1, then a water tuned ele is (and will probably) be the closest thing to be. Let us not forget though, that other professions have ways to raise health levels of allies (Healing Spring anyone?) Venom20 User Venom20-icon-0602-sm-black.png 14:44, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
There's also no direct heal listed for any of those skills -- IE, no healthbar whack-a-mole. Pretty much all the water skills with a heal component do so through doing damage. It reminds me of Lance of Mitra if anyone plays Age of Conan. Ruse talk (talk) 23:01, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

If you listen to water attunement in the videos, it sounds like Conjure Frost. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.11.4.8 (talk).

Conjure Frost makes a bow that you shoot at people and it freezes them. Water Attunement freezes nearby enemies when you start it up. -- Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig2.png 17:44, 12 December 2010 (UTC)

Soothing Mist[edit]

It can be seen at 7:30 in this. Description says: "You regenerate health." and has the same icon as regeneration. Should this be added as a separate boon or wait until the game is out? 82.131.236.98 19:50, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
