Delete because all known weapons[edit]
Delete because we have been told that all the weapons planned to be in the initial release are known? - Giant Nuker 02:40, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- Agree, nowhere have I seen spears mentioned as being usuable by players.
- The info about the Norn guards using them would be better suited (not by much) on the Hoelbrak page. Abbess Katherine 03:18, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

(Reset indent) The finalized weapon list was released months ago, the spear is not one of them. - Infinite - talk 11:59, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- yep, it's like saying that scythes were included on the Factions campaing just because Vetaura was on the game and wields one in concept art... maybe they will be playable on a future expansion, by right now, what we know is that we can't use spears on this game. Lokheit 18:04, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
- ""Yes they exist, but I doubt they will be a weapon"" This should be removed from the deletion tag as it itself is personal opinion/speculation, thus not viable grounds for deletion of an article. The fact that spears are still speculation is fine, however Darke 20:19, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
- I went ahead and clarified deletion reasons. Sides, this page can always be readded when and if spears are eventually added. - Lucian 3:49, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

So they made the cut![edit]
Apparently they wasn't cut from the game, and the one used on the blog image reminds me to onw of the current designs. Lokheit 18:39, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Serrated Spear made it into gw2 it seems[edit]
was i the only one who noticed the quaggan holding one of these around the 12:30 min mark in this video: [1]?- Zesbeer 04:26, 25 June 2011 (UTC)
- I saw it too I yelled it @ The Seraphim's Chat :D --The Holy Dragons 22:46, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
1hand or 2hand[edit]
So, spears, 1 handed or 2 handed. Do we know? --Briar AHOY! 09:14, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- It's a two-handed weapon, which is indicated by granting a full set of five skills. There's also been no indication that any of the underwater weapons are one-handed. -Yossitaru 09:22, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- That's correct, all aquatic weapons are equipped in both hands (so far). - Infinite - talk 13:23, 26 July 2011 (UTC)
- yea but at this stage of the game's develpment who knows i am sure its still subject to change.- Zesbeer 23:16, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Spear is gone now?[edit]
I have looked at several videos from the beta press weekend. I haven't seen spears and those that did have spears have the harpoon now. Raziah 05:55, 21 February 2012 (UTC)
- I noticed the same thing. At a guess, it's probably becuase they've considered they might use Spear as an additional land weapon type in an expansion pack sometime, which would make sense, as I could see, say, just an example that came up in my head, an Elona expansion which might add a profession such as "Sunspear" or something, which I could see having Spear as a 1H land weapon, and perhaps a Lance as 2H one being a possibility further down the line.
- Come to think of it, GW1 expansions always added new skills to previously created classes...adding a new weapon type would be a good way to do this with GW2 (so a new land-based Spear weapon could become a way for a Warrior to gain some extra skills with an expansion, for example). 82.11.226.30 20:49, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- (Edit conflict) Speculation (placed on an incorrect medium and location) aside, the spear was simply renamed to harpoon. Speargun still has "spear" in its name for what it's worth. - Infinite - talk 20:52, 23 February 2012 (UTC)
- Where did Anet officially make the change to harpoon? - Zesbeer 21:43, 23 February 2012 (UTC)

This page never should have been renamed[edit]
as i brought up there was no official stance on this page being renamed until now http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User_talk:Stephane_Lo_Presti#Aquadic_weapons so please change it back to spear.- Zesbeer 23:22, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
- All the press beta stuff has harpoon, trident, and speargun, so I think that's the current stance. --JonTheMon 03:25, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

- ok but a direct source from anet? he is looking into it.- Zesbeer 03:58, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- If he responds here saying that they've since been changed, then yeah that's fine.
- Otherwise it's a direct source from ArenaNet... telling us what exactly? A F K When Needed 04:01, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- if they have been changed and they havent so the move should be reverted "Looks like there's been a mixup with aquatic weapon names and I can now confirm that the names in the blogpost I quoted above are correct! Thanks for pointing us to this ^^ --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:14, 28 February 2012 (UTC)"- Zesbeer 23:57, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
- Although Steven confirmed it several times, but what is really in game is still Harpoon/Speargun ever since skill panel was up. So let's put this aside for just a few more month, shall we? ^^ Glastium talk 00:43, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
- I am fine with that what I wasn't fine with was there was the lack discussion on the matter, so I went and asked someone from anet to confirm the change and look at that it wasn't changed. and the appropriate action has been taken ie a revert.- Zesbeer 00:48, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
