Mesmers?[edit]
I really hope they introduce Mesmer as one of the Scholars. I'm pretty sure they're going to introduce Summoner which will be a mix between Necromancer and Ritualist, and with Elementalist being the other, I hope they make a mind/control-oriented class such as a Mesmer. But it's unlikely considering a healer profession is likely to be introduced. Maybe included with Summoner? I was hoping Elementalist would have Mesmer-like features but I guess only time will tell. --69.254.103.22 13:55, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
- There's actually many people who believe that there won't be a dedicated healer class this time around, which opens up the way for a mesmer being one of the scholars. It's also possible that the main support class will be a soldier, or that the mesmer will be an adventurer. More importantly, the Mesmer is probably the most original profession Arenanet created which has its own obvious niche (denial), and we've seen some concept art that looks suspiciously much like a mesmer. And Lyssa says hi. I consider Mesmers likely. And I'd be really happy if they were included (been playing them since E34E) :D NilePenguin 15:54, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
- GW cannot be GW without mesmers. There would also be a major plot hole if mesmers went away (though they will be different from GW1). -~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) 16:37, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

- Well they don't seem as needed anymore as they once were, since every class will be efficient in healing themselves. It is unlikely that there will be a dedicated healer, but there still is a possibility. --hnzdvn 15:55, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- Mesmer was hard to play in gw1 so maybe they made it sort of an adventurer so it would have better armor and some different skill so it might be more accessible to the more casual gamers, and i think there will be monks in gw2 since you probably will need them in the harder fights. Sjacie 08:40, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- Ha, I hope that if the mesmer's included, it will still require a bit more strategic and well-timed playing; that's a large part of what made them fun in the first place.-- NilePenguin 11:45, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- I agree. (Original poster; just forgot to sign in) I've been thinking and I'm hoping that they make a Mesmer-like profession as an Adventurer. As for a 'dedicated healer' I think might still be possible to have 'Monks' with Smiting power as an option. I mean, self-heal is great but I'd rather keep fighting as compared to having to heal myself. So as for Scholars, I hope they have Elementalist, Summoner(or Necro/Ritualist), and Monk...

Another thought is that what if they mix Mesmer and Monk together? For some reason, it makes sense to me to put hex/hex removal together as an all-in-one hexmaster. --69.254.103.22 19:03, 7 May 2010 (UTC) (again, forgot to log in. Oops.)--Spigs 19:04, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- The last profession is Mesmer without any doubt in my mind. Its been mentioned multiple times in the GW2 novels, hell, Queen Jennah herself is a mesmer. Its also in concept art, and they've stated the last profession reveal will be a returning profession. Everyone who has a problem with mesmers is gonna have to suck it up because I've got money on them making a revamped appearance in GW2.74.83.4.248 16:56, 22 May 2011 (UTC)

- The dedicated healer will probably be the second soldier (think: Paragon without a spear). By all we know, we've been implied either through breif mention or concept art that the Necromancer and Mesmers return, which both fit scholar (aka light armor). We've also heard of Ranger and possibly Assassin (with a very ranger-like look), which would both fit into adventurer (aka medium armor). We've also seen concept art of 2 soldier professions, one of which is warrior the other has a blue hue in the concept art (much like monk). I wouldn't doubt Logan to be this monk/paragon merged profession. That said, there will be a "dedicated healer" but it won't be as powerful as the GW1 monk, but more like the GW1 paragon with buffs. Its not necessary to have as good of a healer due to the dedicated healing skill slot we'll have, and honestly PvP was centered around the monk (in early PvP, no monk=you lose; later PvP, not enough damage to kill the enemy monk and no good monk on your side=you lose), I'm glad they're taking out the Monk and keeping the Paragon if I'm right, because now I may actually enjoy PvP. -- Konig/talk 21:08, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- I'm skeptical about the pseudogon (see what I did there?) being the dedicated healer. I think we'll probably see monks, but with the ability to spec into either healing or smiting, not both (or at least, not insofar as GW1). Still, not much info yet. --Kyoshi (Talk) 21:18, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- With only 8 professions, and 2 known and 3 implied, and with the knowledge that there will be a "few new professions" - I don't see the Monk returning. Paragon still can, with a lot of change, but not the Monk. I really hope they don't have a dedicated healer on the size of GW1's Monk. I liked the Ritualist and Paragon as the healers, and I hope that is what we get, perhaps more widespread too (since we know water has a healing side, we may get this anyways). That is, where the Monk was 3/4 healer, and the Rit was 1/4 healer, in GW2, there will be multiple 1/4 healers (I see four potentials: Elementalist, Necromancer, Mesmer, and the Paragon - scholar, scholar, scholar, soldier). But I hope none is better than the other. Thus, I don't want a dedicated healer, but I don't want the removal of healers. If you get what I mean. -- Konig/talk 21:24, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thinking about how the mechanics for Elementalists appear to work: each skill has an analogue in each element, so that it changes when you switch attunement. From what we know, Water attunement will be all heal-y and stuff, so any elementalist who switches to water at some point could be an extremely efficient healer. And since we'll have a dedicated heal slot anywho, we won't NEED a dedicated healer anyways. Zolann The Irreverent 19:44, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

- I personally would be very happy if there was no dedicated healer profession. Monks in GW1 where always needed in a party and when you got into high end game player monks where needed about 95% of the time. And where they easy to find? No. They where hard to find and allot of them where either A. Not good, B. Would ditch you when you start, Or C. Would leave the party when you asked them "Why arn't you doing your job?"... In my Opinion it will make the game allot smoother and better to just let every one in the party to be able to be heal and give us a chance to actually play rather then go "GLF monks for Zmish/Wanted/UW HM 6/8--Yozuk 03:40, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

@Yarrr 18:36, 7 July 2010 (UTC)- Yeah I know, I was just showing what could happen. Although most parties had two monks/support roles anyway, "GLF Water Ele and Paladin (I know, I know it's not confirmed) to kill Zhaitan! 4/6!" I doubt it will come to that, but I can still see some discrimination, people will want healers/protters still, I doubt 1 heal skill per bar will be enough to survive, in high-end areas at least I'd guess. --Odal talk 20:25, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- With an organized team, there will always be a preference for diversity. Elementalists (especially earth and water, but also air) will definitely be one of the support professions. Warriors do have support in the form of banners, but I doubt they will be one of the main support professions, it is likely that all professions will have some amount of party support. -~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) 20:56, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
- From what I've seen in the new information is that All professions can take the support roll. In one of the Demos it shows a Warrior who drops a banner that heals allies around the banner. And then there is mention of the Necromancer stealing life from foes to heal there allies and (Of course) mention of the Elementalist healing using water magic. Now thats not to say that Some professions wont be asked more for a specific task over others it just means that they can adapt them selves better to fit the situation at hand. Despite my hatred of monk I actually Did Enjoy healing in GW1. For me it was very involved and active in the party. It felt good because I knew I saved their sorry butt. At the same time though, I Did NOT like healing as a monk. I much preferred healing as a Necromancer or a Ritualist. So Good bye monk. I Would say it was nice knowing you, but that would be a lie.--Yozuk 01:25, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Scholars Revealed in GoA?[edit]
"Necromancers among the humans have been considered unsettling for centuries, even though they work in magic like elementalists, mesmers, and other practitioners..."
- - Dougal Keane, Ghosts of Ascalon, pg. 230
Now I know the book isn't exactly according to the game, but there's at least mention. I don't see why they'd put it in the book if it didn't have any significance to the game. Although he could be referring to older magics, I don't think they'd mention the names otherwise. If Elementalist, Necro, and Mesmer are our scholars, I'm not going to argue. :) --Spigs 12:44, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Yea, I think we can finally guess the scholars. Also, I remember a mention of an alchemist... somewhere... --Naut 13:07, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Eternal Alchemy? Either way, I've always kind of had the idea that maybe some professions' abilities might be widened. Maybe there IS and Alchemist-type profession and 'Mesmer' is just a subclass or viceversa? I don't know. Just thoughts. --Spigs 13:16, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- I find it hard to see the Mesmer to be a subpar of a Alchesmist class, and yes I agree that the abilities will be widened. Especially for the mesmer due to to them being quite unpopular in GW1. --Naut 13:19, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- I wasn't sure either. I was going to say Elementalist but considering they're already announced and all... forgive my lack of knowledge on Alchemists. Anyway, I do believe that Mesmers will be changed greatly. I've heard talk that Mesmers will wield pistols which I'm not exactly okay with. Mesmers were my favorite in GW1 (mostly because they were unpopular in GW1) and I'm looking forward to them in GW2... without guns. --Spigs 13:25, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

- If there are Alchemists in GW2 it would make sense that it's a subclass of the Elementalist due to Alchemists being mideval 'chemists' and trying to mainly create gold from other elements. --Elemental Phantom 15:07, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Mesmers with guns sound awesome. Imagine: Power Block + BOOM! Headshot! A deadly combination, you disable a good part of your foe's skills and then humiliate them further with a finishing move from your AWP. --Riddle 16:07, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
- Mesmers were only unpopular in GW because they took a few brain processes in PvP and were bad in PvE (and if you count mesmer hate from bad players, that too). Mesmers were supposed to be able to use swords in GW, but Illusionary Weaponry (which was made for sword mesmers) was/is bad. Without secondary professions, I think we can expect mesmers will be able to wield a sword to possibly get illusory skills like a better version of IW. As for alchemists, it probably refers to an NPC or player that makes consumables (there'd better be one to pour on our garbage loot to turn it into gold pieces). -~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) 18:09, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Female Human Light Armors Image[edit]
Hey, I made that image! Warm & fuzzies everywhere. I still have the base, unmarked screenshots[1] left over if you folks want to use them on armor pages or whatever. There's a few corrections, though - the 'Velvet' set is known as the Magician set when dropped out in the world. It's missing the associated head/shoulders, which are the Conjurer's Mask and Conjurer's Mantle. The Country set's missing head/shoulders are the Seer's Circlet and Seer's Mantle. The naming conventions for everything seem to be pretty ambiguous, still. 24.18.101.78 18:30, 12 June 2012 (UTC)

- Awesome! Images :D Let's make articles with all the info and images you've gathered. We'll just make notes about any ambiguous naming for now, and move it to the correct name at release. You could just create them, or if you want to, add a list of names here and I'm sure someone will create a articles to add images to (like me). :) - anja 18:52, 12 June 2012 (UTC)
