Talk:Container
Term[edit]
Is package used in any official capacity to refer to items that behave this way? Seems they would fall under the category of consumable, and other "packages" like the Dye Pack are classified as such already. -- Nineaxis (talk) 22:51, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
- Package is a subtype of consumable, with the special characteristic that using one causes other items to spawn in your inventory. It may not be official, but it is a useful distinction. —Dr Ishmael 23:09, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
- In the Black Lion Trading Company, the term "Container" is used. Should this be switched to that? Phoenix Avenger 00:29, 23 July 2012 (UTC)
- How do we change where the pictures come from? A whole bunch of them have the same picture (right now it's that I've been using. We don't really want 10 copies of that picture so that they all show up here, do we?
- What I was told is "every item needs its own picture." Seems redundant, but makes sense when you look at possible future changes to an icon, automatically-generated lists with icons, etc. Wombatt 21:27, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

name of item type[edit]
As noted in the section above, the Trading Post categorizes these items as "Container". The API also uses this term, and it is not a subtype of Consumable (it's a top-level item type). We should probably move stuff around on the wiki to be in line with the official term. I can run a bot task to replace the template parameter value in all the infoboxes, if we decided to do this. —Dr Ishmael 02:50, 9 June 2013 (UTC)
Missing Items[edit]
The list here are missing the Heavy Supply Bag (not to be confused with the Heavy Bag of Supplies, which is different). --Eggman1405 (talk) 07:04, 23 August 2014 (UTC)
After the redo, the list is now missing `Bag of (no modifier) Goods`, which was originally listed as a T2 bag.--Eggman1405 23:30, 18 September 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, Bag of Goods and Small Bag of Goods are not listed here because they only come from chests in bandit camps and not bandits themselves. I put them in a disambiguation page (Bag_of_Goods_(disambiguation)) for now, since the table on this page is only for dropped containers. Tyndel (talk) 04:45, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
Overhaul[edit]
I was going to do an overhaul of this page and all crafting material containers dropped by enemies. Some questions:
- I'll be making a table of the crafting mat containers, right now they're unsorted. This seems like the best page I can put that in. Agreed?
- Nomenclature for Hidden X dropped from logging seems unnecessary. Should I leave it in the article?
- Can I make a lot of nav templates akin to [[Template:Ritual Bags nav]]?
Tyndel (talk) 08:52, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- I'll just go ahead and do it then. :P Tyndel (talk) 12:40, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- Lovely table. Nice work! -Chieftain Alex 13:07, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
- Why not include the Hidden containers? They only have 6 versions instead of 8, but they still have a tiered structure. —Dr Ishmael 13:33, 7 September 2014 (UTC)
Good job, I really like the redo.--Eggman1405 (talk) 20:19, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
- I should also mention that the Hidden line of containers either should be here in its own table as well, or linked.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eggman1405 (talk • contribs) at 20:54, 18 September 2014 (UTC).
Add a tier parameter to tiered containers[edit]
I've started to add tier to container infoboxes like we have for {{Crafting infobox}}.
With that, I'll be able to check that Container#Nomenclature or containers' content has no mistakes. It might also be useful for HoT.
What do you think? Shall I go on or change something? Raljeor (talk) 18:29, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Relyk: Are you suggesting to add the "family" that drop them to their infobox?
- What is the value of this addition? —Dr Ishmael 18:52, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- I could make a subcategory Tiered Containers inside Category:Containers where containers would be sorted like runes and sigils thanks to Property:Has_rune_tier and Property:Has_sigil_tier. Raljeor (talk) 20:01, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
- I'm just asking: how does this improve the wiki? —Dr Ishmael 02:41, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
- Last column of Container#Nomenclature could be split depending on highest material tier and be filled automatically for example. See my page. Raljeor (talk) 05:56, 11 May 2015 (UTC)
What if I remove Property:Has_container_tier and use the tier parameter to display the tier in the infobox? I think this would have the same value as having a tier in {{Crafting infobox}}.
The material tiers you got depend on the tier of the bag. Raljeor (talk) 18:33, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
