Location[edit]
Dialogue[edit]
- Before completing Master Storyteller
- Botanist Ferelin: Greetings, traveler. Have you come to explore Abaddon's reliquary as well? I'm here attempting to wring as much history out of the place as possible before it's overrun.
- Greetings to you both.
- Priest of Abaddon: Greetings. I'm priest of Abaddon. Self-appointed of course. Any relics you find belong to the priesthood of Abaddon.
- I'll keep that in mind.
- I must be on my way. Good-bye.
- After completing Master Storyteller, before completing Storyteller: Abaddon
- Botanist Ferelin: You found them all! That's quite a feat. You've done history a great favor. What will you do with them?
- I'll hold on to them for now, but they belong to Orr. May I ask questions?
- Priest of Abaddon: Wait a minute... There's a message encoded in these lines. It's about Abaddon!
- What are you talking about?
- It seems Abaddon's priests hid a code in the other gods' parables. It can be used to uncover a lost text of Abaddon! Find his tablets, please! Bring me his message!
- I'll see what I can do.
- I must be on my way. Good-bye.
- After completing Storyteller: Abaddon, first discussion
- You found all the tablets? Abaddon's parable is complete? Please, let me see it!
- Of course. Here you go.
- This is astounding! I can't believe I am reading this! Thank you so much!
- I have some questions for you. (same as below)
- I'm happy to help.
- After completing Storyteller: Abaddon, subsequent discussion
- Can we help you with anything?
- I have some questions for you.
- As promised, I will answer any questions you have about Abaddon and his priesthood.
- First of all, how can there be priests of Abaddon? He's dead.
- His principles are not. We believe he was wrongly persecuted, a martyr. He wanted to help humanity. They ganged up on him. Who can blame him resenting us? We abandoned him. If he were here now...
- If he were here now, what?
- We'd show him humanity hasn't forsaken him. We are the new priesthood of Abaddon, and we'll never forget how he was humiliated.
- May I ask another question?
- That's all I need to know. Thanks.
- Do you know why there are so many statues of Abaddon here?
- We believe this was where he made his last stand before they captured him, and he put protective spells upon them all. He did not want to be forgotten. He has not been.
- May I ask another question?
- That's all I need to know. Thanks.
- What are the principles of Abaddon?
- Our credo is, "Act with magic, act within reason, and act without mercy." We're the new keepers of secrets, and by that we mean that we will keep Abaddon's memory alive. He was misunderstood.
- Misunderstood?
- He was humanity's greatest advocate. We believe he knew humanity could defend the original Bloodstone, if only supported by the gods. Instead, they bowed to Doric's cowardice and then abandoned us.
- You don't think Abaddon would have abandoned us too?
- He would have made us the supreme race in Tyria. Now look at us. He would not have left us by choice. He sought revenge on the other gods and on their humans, but he did not forget or forsake us.
- What about all the bad things he did?
- Act with magic, act within reason, and act without mercy. He saw a flawed society who still worshipped the gods that had abandoned it. He taught them a lesson.
- That lesson got him killed.
- Yes. He sacrificed himself to reveal the truth about the gods and humanity's cowardice. Praise Abaddon!
- Your version of history is intriguing, but I'm not sure I buy it. Good-bye.
- That's all I need to know. Thanks.
