welcome to guild chat i'm your host ruby
if you're joining us for the first time
welcome
if you are joining us again welcome back
it's good to have you here uh we're
going to
do a preview of next tuesday's update
today we have
a lot to talk about so i'm going to jump
right in i want to start by talking
about a couple things
that we've been looking at around the
studio as always just to pass these on
to you guys
uh the first thing there was a reddit
thread that caught my eye earlier this
week
and some of you may have seen the live
stream that started that conversation
aurora peachy was live streaming guild
wars 2 and went to deposit her materials
accidentally misclicked and compacted
her bags instead
this and it sounds funny but this
resonated with me for a couple of
reasons
in first part because there were so many
people at the time saying oh my gosh
i've done that too
people immediately identified with that
and also because i was one of those
people
i think we all know the pain of a
misclick in any part of the game
just if you if you are that tiny bit off
and it does something completely
unintended you have to stop your game
play
to fix it uh while i was reading the
thread a couple of points caught my eye
uh first that a lot of people pointed
out that of all the things in that drop
down menu that you could miss click
while you were trying to deposit your
materials
that's the only one that couldn't be
fixed with just a second click
that was the only one that required you
to stop what you were doing and fix
everything and another person replied it
feels
unintuitive to have the blow up your
bags
button right beside the clean up your
bags button and it sounds funny but it
helped clarify the issue for me it
helped put in focus what was bugging me
about this
i do love that we have things in our
game like invisible bags to help prevent
this
but if we can do something in addition
to that easily to make it
to lower the instances of somebody
having
a frustrating issue happen to them as a
player and we can do it easily it's
something that i get curious about and i
want to ask so i asked around about this
and being aware that game code is
complicated on the back end
and every system touches other things
there can be a ripple effect even with
things that look like a small change i
went in
asking the question the answer i wanted
was so what's going on with this you
know what was behind that decision is
there something that i can
pass along and it turns out every once
in a while you find a small change that
actually is a small change and we can do
something to
make it a little bit easier on players
without disrupting all of the other work
we're trying to get done around here
that turned out to be one of those
things so we went ahead and
went for it that's not to say it's
coming next tuesday we're still going to
test it and make sure that it doesn't
blow anything up
but you know we can lower the instance
of something frustrating happening just
by lowering that in the drop down menu
so that's a thing that's coming
and thank you guys for talking about it
and getting us to think about it
um the other thing that i want to talk
about i think affects a lot of people
and you're going to be pretty happy to
hear we've been talking about guild
decoration costs and scribing costs
around here
i know a lot of you feel like it's
really expensive
i'm right there with you my scribe is
level 225 and it has been an
enormous journey so i asked around and
what was going on with that
when hot launched the economy was really
in flux
and we wanted to wait until it settled
down before making such a huge change
things have settled down and we all
still agree that the cost of scribing
and guild decorations
is way out of line with where we wanted
it so we are working to bring that back
in line
again this is not a thing that's coming
this tuesday because it's a much bigger
change than that
so we're working on it and we're going
to go ahead and put it out there as soon
as it's done
um that's one that i personally am
looking forward to and i'm pretty sure
you guys are too
so the third thing i want to talk to you
guys about is
a change that we made recently um with
how gliders deploy in our game
i'm not the expert on that so i went
ahead and brought an expert
in to tell you a little bit better than
i can
so joel helmut you did a lot of work on
gliding
i i have in fact you haven't okay so
done a fair bit
how did you get how did you get started
on that so uh
early last year um january-ish 2015
um well about a couple months so
uh mike lewis who had some of you might
recognize his name worked on yeah so
he's lead engineer here he's my lead
uh he had done a prototype of gliding in
the game it's basically just a parachute
just for terminal velocity you can
pull it down and uh designer saw that
one this is amazing when you have
the game now uh we need to like change
stop presses we need to
go back and rejigger everything make it
all work and
they needed a programmer to work on it
they asked around it's like yes i
i would like to do that yes i've got
i've got some history like back in
college i
did some modding on flight sims and i've
played games gliding in it
that's a lot of fun like ion back in the
day yeah
uh played some more recently and
so you've kind of got that yeah yeah and
i
i love things like things that deal with
mobility with motion that's that's a lot
of fun to me
and so i was like yes i would very much
like to do this and so they needed
they uh we did the demo packs east and
they needed
a uh fight with the wyvern up in the up
in the canopy
of the brink to feel like really good
and they wanted the gliding to work
there
and it was i mean honestly in retrospect
it was okay
there were a lot of improvements since
then but that was that's where i got my
start
oh she's working on that that little
piece and then from then on there's a
bunch of little other pieces
kept tweaking a little it wasn't the
only thing i worked on but that was
yeah you weren't just sitting in a room
by yourself nothing but gliding no no um
as nice as that would have been uh it's
a big game there's a lot of stuff to
work on
yeah but so lighting was kind of my
thing bringing it into course and yeah
so
um when we shipped hot they were there
was a fairly large fraction of us was
like well why
why don't we have this everywhere
because it sure would be nice
after you've spent a long time in the
jungle then you come back to the main
world and you jump off cliff and you die
yes i'm dead why
why joel why why indeed and
the the reason we're given which is
completely legitimate is we just did not
have time to make sure
i did not have time at the time to make
sure that it was all kosher
that uh things weren't going to break
horribly qa was really slammed
just testing all the keys all the hot
stuff and
they only have so much time uh but once
once hot shipped
then we revisited it well okay uh
maybe now we can do this and the answer
is yeah we actually can
and it's coming and thank you yeah well
that's just
so now in the meantime a change that
we've
done is helped with glider deployment in
the game as it is now
because sometimes we were still falling
to our deaths yeah we had a glider
that that's true um but i'm not blaming
you i'm just saying
what happened we did you want to show
gliding criteria first though
i feel like maybe we should show that
first you know what i'll tell you
you are the boss of gliding yeah you
want to show gliding in courteria first
go for it yeah so but we'll get to that
that
no no no no no no no no no no no no no
no no that's important um so i have a
guy
sitting in lines already from them yeah
show up to the man
all right there he is here's my
celebrity thief i am sitting upon the
lobster the mighty lobster of
lobsterness and normally you'd be here
and there'd be quite a fall
might not kill you but perhaps but it's
like now i'm a thief on the wind
watch me terrible for a number of
reasons you're welcome
uh i'm not sure if i was thanking you we
are flying
as as we do flying around
oh uh the camera's being adjusted to
point more it's not your camera move on
with your life
it's very distracting and you just said
i'd like to light up this thing
and now i'd like to glide off these
other things and it all just
claddings so i mean it's like thank you
for showing us
there it is okay uh now we have some
do you want to show some no-fly zones
yeah so there's
this is this is not like yes you can
slide everywhere so it's all fine
um there's there are exceptions
and so first and foremost pvp is out
wow i'm fine uh pvp is out
there's just that's not happening uh
maybe someday in the future it's an
enormous no-fly zone
for now it's beyond my apartment um
world versus world is out
because the world versus world team is
weak and fearful
hi john uh you know he can reach you
right all right so
jumping pills is the right thing too uh
well we don't want to like totally ruin
that's true uh well so for world versus
world specifically though uh
they they did actually explore it for a
while they were like well can we keep
people out of keeps
uh and the answer was maybe kind of then
there was concerns about
well okay but like this is supposed to
be an equal opportunity zone for people
with and without hot and people
don't have lighting yet maybe i don't
know uh so
rather than requiring them to you know
if you want to like play play with the
big boys you need to go by hot that's
kind of mean
that's fair and so they're like okay
well not now that's a good one that's
good
uh so that happened pvp though there is
there is one very important exception
which i think people will be excited
about part of the mess
oh yeah as you are not pvp and heard of
the mess you make light there you can
fly around while you're waiting you can
just
i mean it's it's it's it's our own
little mini game
i didn't know that until the other day
and i was very excited when i saw it it
was a lot of fun
awesome you are welcome to try to glide
to the other islands i'm pretty sure
there's a trip where they'll just catch
you
as if there is there is one find out but
you may try
you can try your way all right and uh
but as far as the open world
open world's open except for
uh there are except for where it's not
except for it's not
and so i wasn't actually involved in
this but i'll show you guys one
it's over here somewhere uh so
not not on the code side but uh design
and qa
looked at a bunch of different jumping
puzzles like okay well which which ones
are most at risk and someone's like well
i mean
it's okay measuring portals exist we
know they exist it's not like
every time they don't so we're not super
worried about massive exploits but
things are just obvious yeah you just
fly over to the end thing so here's one
um
swipe here it's look look
look at my gliding powers it was a
little bit of seasickness all right all
right so
all right over here ish is uh the end of
shark my caverns
that go in there yeah and then there's
the npc at the end and you could in
theory just glide over to the end spot
and then
run down to the bottom and so i'm sure
it'll be fine
what could possibly go wrong and so uh
gary's like why don't you guys fix that
and so
design there okay so you get this
message so you're in a fly zone and then
you go oh
no you're gonna land one way or another
that's fine uh and so most of these
things are set up they're not really
there to kill you they're just there to
stop you from exploiting so i can show
you what the box actually looks like
my magic dev powers with your magic you
have powers yeah i have lots of those
as it turns out all right so you see
there's a triple error above me
pretend it has a bottom because it does
and so if you enter this guy
he flips up the message saying hey don't
don't do that you should probably not do
that and if you stay in there you drop
it's just you're boring but it ends
right here and so you can send the
deployer glider underneath you don't die
or you hit the water so that's there's a
couple of these
um and again i didn't do them so if
people are like oh these are the worst
things that i was it wasn't me
what if they loved them then did you do
that it's as unlikely
in that unlikely event i guess i can
take credit
so i did actually invite the designer
the main designer who's involved and
it's like why don't you come on the show
with me he's like yeah
he was like well would there be cameras
on then no it's more like well then i'm
like the villain here and it's like yes
that was that's my plan all along
nice it's strategy all right so um
glad you're deployment give it that uh
open world
mostly good story instances are out
dungeons are also out
and the reason partially exploits but
also there are a bunch of these like
tripwires and things to set up events to
go and they just
they break really bad it turns out
basically everyone breaks really badly
when you glide over them
uh so it's keeps me want to try
uh so so just open world but get up on
mountains go glide off things
it it's it is a lot of fun you just like
gliders have gone to her and rohan i
used to be wrong there uh
i love it it's just mixing my
response terrible uh you tried it it's
shameful it's
like all right uh the
glitter deployment so uh people may have
noticed last week
day or two yeah it was last week
it's it's still last seems like a long
time uh
uh it's been a while what happened was
gliding used to be heavily subject to
lag
i'm sorry players from australia i did
not really understand your pain
uh until i tried until i until i faked
her turn on fake like oh
this is the worst thing ever so
uh put in some changes which
again these are things that i wanted to
ship with high because i
recognize they like lag might be an
issue i didn't know how big of an issue
it was going to be
but there were complicating reasons that
we couldn't do it like right when we
shipped
but definitely we're looking at it and
okay now now we have the time and
resources to actually fix things up
and so deployment authority or control
of
glare deployment used to all be
server-side and
do you want to bring up uh the magic
image can we see the awesome image that
joel made because
it is pretty great it is fantastic uh
so you can see on the left finger there
this is how it used to work in a low lag
environment it's not a big deal
so the way our motion works is the
client
sends up position reports it's like
several times a second many times a
second
to the server saying here's here here i
am here i am here's my state and
at some point the client client say hey
i'd like to play my glider
and the server would see oh you're not
gliding it
you're not able to glide yet you're not
following it so no and
the client might try again say how about
now he says oh now you now you are
falling very well let's deploy your
glider and then he would have to send a
message back to the client
and then the client would say all right
now i'm gliding let me adjust my
terminal velocity so it don't fall as
fast and then that'll change how i
report my position
uh that's fine when the lag is low when
the lag gets really mean like the
upper right image and you have this
really long delay
you see as time goes this way the client
sends the thing and then the server
doesn't get it until
way later and
as far as the client is concerned they
send a request and then a long time
later the server finally gets back to
him
it says okay it says it's saying so even
though the server
thinks he responded very quickly he's
saying yeah okay well i got the request
and said yeah okay go go for it
from the current from the client's
perspective might be like half a second
both ways if your legs really bad and so
it's like full second before your glider
comes out you fall long ways in a second
and that's that's true uh and so
the alternative approach was well what
if the client
just assumes that it's okay and changes
the term of loss immediately
and then tells the server here by the
way i changed my terminal velocity i'm
gliding now
and the server can validate that and say
well okay yeah that's that seems fine
or might say no that's not fine but
that's unusual
and so even though yeah
yeah and so they eventually the server
responds saying hey you're gliding and
the client says yeah i i know
i know i've got i'm on this now it
i include this other client line on
there to show like what the delay is for
other people seeing you
so the way the way all simulation works
in our game is
the other clients have to simulate your
motion too it's not like the server is
running full physics simulation on
everybody
and so to another client there still
would be a really long delay but we
don't care that much about that
it's not like it's going to kill you and
so you might there might
the client here might think he's gliding
here but it might take the other guy a
full second before he realizes that
you're gliding
as was true before that's that's okay
we're allowed uh so yeah it
it definitely is one of those things
where i even i didn't think i had that
much lag
on my machine until the change went
through and uh my goodness
i went once once the uh update went out
i was like wow it's
as smooth as better it felt a lot better
it's not just free free-falling quite
nearly as much
yeah so uh hopefully people like that i
certainly did
and uh awesome yeah anyway
yes there was there was one small thing
uh
it's not super important but you're just
making it sound like it's incredibly
important
well it's it's not terribly uh so some
people may realize
you can glide out of uh jump mushrooms
when the jump mushroom launches you can
just hold space for a little bit
it'll drop at the top and that one that
is a situation where the client
with one example of a situation with the
client cannot assume that he can glide
and so that has to still we use the old
model where he just asked the server hey
how about that how about now
um and that is that is that comes up
because that is an important mechanic in
a certain boss fight
that may or may not be getting updated
soon uh
with with certain jump pads and things
so
perhaps look forward to that but i
wonder what that
i don't know i can't imagine all right
awesome but but that's uh that's really
all i got this time so nothing like
really new just
hopefully some more details a little
more insight into the inner workings of
our
yeah but you tell it better really
complicated game

we're getting this worked out we decided

this time so i have no idea where he's
going to put his
you know microphone i'm horrified
right now i know you met microphone i'm
still upset welcome to guild chat we're
doing it live
so john corpening our associate game
director came in to talk to you guys
about the
updates to world versus world in next
week's update
so i'm going to just let you run yeah so
we have a lot
before we get started like i feel like
um i need to talk about gliding in real
versus world
uh since joel look what you did
on that um one
one thing oh god is that um
you know the team uh did look into
gliding on that
um and uh
basically there's all these really
fantastic ideas that came out of it
right
um you know they thought hey it'd be
really cool if you can glide and then we
can have like flat cannons and
bombing runs and you know this idea of
like
you know i'm in a squadron of people
gliding over a battlefield and then
people
blowing up next to me and crumbling out
of the sky that's all
super amazing right and so um there are
definitely lots lots of really great
ideas about that right
but um the thing is is that right now
we need to focus on core issues in world
versus world and so
doing something like lighting is um it's
awesome you know but
it's um uh it's a big undertaking it's a
fundamental shift in how people play
role versus world right
and so we don't want to take on anything
like that right now well we're still
um addressing core issues uh we want
players to be
very happy with what um they have in
world versus world uh before we move on
to something like that right bigger
things that you
are working on on your plate right now
yeah for certain so um
you know so really like um it's a great
idea it's something that you know we'll
think about for later
uh but right now we are focused on
making our players happy in rover's
world
um right now thank you to that
speaking to that tell us about that the
thing in my ear just fell out again so
i'm sorry mark you know um
his head in his hand i've got several
pages of uh update notes
um there's actually the team's been very
busy they've been very busy working on
uh bug fixes and adjustments and uh
balance to
uh to coral roller's world the game of
itself you know
um and uh there's really more in here
than i can then we can cover
um in this time so probably about a
third of
the things that are on here the the
highlights um
but uh so let's just start kicking off
with the first big ones the first big
one
is auto upgrades you know so uh heart of
thorns brought um a whole new way of
upgrading um instead of it the
responsibility to be
down to one person to pay all the gold
costs and everything like that and doing
upgrades
it was automatic right um so what we've
seen is that
as people have been playing it they feel
like um
uh they've lost a lot of play from that
and we absolutely agree with it
so um in the uh in the current system
um your objectives upgrade on their own
and then they speed it with dole x
uh we're getting rid of the automatic
component from that and um it is only on
dolly x now so
uh a small group who um wasn't able to
stop an
objective from upgrading will now be
able to stop an reject from upgrading
they just
have to go uh kill the gold the dolyak
caravans um
and then uh you know take the supply
camps and you can prevent your enemies
from
upgrading their objectives um so uh this
is something that we've got a lot of
feedback from our players on this
and um we agree this is just a better
way to do things so
we're gonna give this a shot um there is
uh
uh one thing because um you know
obviously the dole x the caravans come
from supply camps you know so
uh when supply camps uh uh caravan gets
to an objective
um that's how the supply cam will will
get credit for upgrading right
so um so if you want your your splat cam
to uh
uh upgrade um you'll have to you know
escort deliax to their objectives um
next big one points per kill so
um you know we've got uh
you know we've got ppt in the game and
for holding objectives
you know uh and that's great and uh what
we've seen is that players who
um are more into fighting and um uh
skirmishing
roaming stalking other players from
doing what they're doing um you know
like
they're absolutely contributing to uh to
winning um in the sense that they're
preventing other people from taking
objectives
um you know getting their supply uh uh
to their
points and all that um but it wasn't a
direct contribution and we really want
those people to to feel like
um they're being rewarded for that
contribution right so if you're going to
play you want to get something out of it
yeah definitely so this is something
that
we want to do for a while and something
that um we've experimented in a couple
of um
events that we've run um and we just
feel that
we're ready to turn on uh always um so
it's gonna be both for kills and stomps
equally um
another note on here is that um you know
it's three-way fight so
um each team that's tagged the person
will each get credit for it you know so
it's not like
red can steal from green you know if
they're fighting blue so you know they
can um
uh red and green will both get the point
for killing a blue player of their
three battle all right um
got two here uh and i'll go into details
a little bit in a second but um high
level
one is reduced rally cap and the other
one is combat revive change
um well i i'll go ahead and talk about
this
right now so um basically the rally cap
has been reduced from five to one
um and um uh
and it's going to be the closest person
to you um
you know when you get stomped out yeah
rallies um and the other one is that you
will no longer be able to
um rez people who have been defeated
uh while you're in combat um you can
still raise them if they're downed
just not if they're defeated right this
is also
some feedback we've had basically the
feeling is that
world risk world is a big numbers game
right now um
as in a really big group uh taking on
smaller group you know can just
um uh overwhelm the others because
they're keeping their guys rezzed
all the time and they stop at one of
those guys the five guys pop back up
right i was thinking steamroll but yeah
um so um
uh so what we want is is that to
basically balance out a little bit you
know um be able to attrition those
fights out
um you know give uh give it a little bit
more emphasis on skill
like numbers are still going to matter
you know yeah but um a smaller more
skilled group will have a better chance
against the big zerg
on there so um you know it's uh some
feedback we've had and we're giving it a
shot
um and we'll see how it goes you know
and
if players think it's fantastic you know
and if not then we'll think about
adjusting it another balance update um
i think those are the biggest ones um
however there's some others that are uh
also exciting uh one is that we are
reducing the supply costs required to
build
um all types of catapults um
you know one of the things that uh we've
been seeing is that with the new layouts
and desert borderlands
it's uh in the past used to be able to
put down a catapult and be able to take
down one wall and then hit the next wall
after that um you know now it's uh
uh you kind of have to move around and
and uh position another catapult right
and so
um you know this is a really big hit um
also the supply costs on those things
went up
um so um this is an adjustment you know
we're taking it down
uh reducing the supply cut costs across
the board by 10.
um again we'll see how it goes give us
your feedback on that once it goes out
and then
we'll decide if we need to take it down
some more or not okay
um items sold by the heroic snow dirty
no longer costs badges of honor
so this is how you get your hero points
in world versus world okay
what we saw is that um uh
you know people were getting uh proofs
faster than they're getting badges
and so it's kind of like sucking all the
badges out you know and then i was kind
of harder for them to get the hero
points
um so we decided to remove the batch
costs from that so that um
uh players can get the euro points a
little bit easier you can also get
blueprints off of those things but um
primarily you know we want you to be
able to unlock your skills and treats
real quick we are okay on time
just making sure that you know i wasn't
sure since joel took up all of our time
i feel like there's gonna be a chat
after this is over
for now though world versus world you
have time okay
um
we have a couple of uh bug fixes um i
mean there's a big list of bug fixes
here but a couple one call out here
um relating to uh walls um
oh yeah so there's been an issue in uh
eb and eternal
battlegrounds uh where sometimes walls
will enter into a bad state and then
they can't be damaged
uh so the team believes they have that
fixed now so that's a big
nice improvement um there's also been a
bug with flickering and phantom walls in
the dust borderlands so
it looks like there's a wall there but
it actually isn't so you can walk right
through it
um you know we actually don't have a
mirage wall upgrade
but uh you know uh why not yeah
so that's a bug and um uh the team has a
fix for that coming out soon
um we're making an adjustment to the
desert oasis event
um so currently takes 20 power cores
uh to win the event uh we're taking that
down to 12.
um we've been getting some feedback from
players that they feel that the event
um uh takes a little too long uh to
complete
you know so we're shortening that up uh
pretty substantially
um there's also been some work done to
to address the lag um now like we've
heard a lag reported by you know quite a
few people some people don't experience
it a lot of people do experience it you
know uh the team has been
uh doing a lot of work investigating
what's causing that um
you know it's not something that
occurred when we did our tests um so
uh uh but once it got on to live once it
got into live
there were some issues that popped up so
there's there's been some things that
have been done
to help address that um including uh
trying out some new hardware
uh to run yeah yeah to run roller swirl
on
so um uh
so anyway um uh so what we'd like is you
know uh give it a try on tuesday or
after tuesday
um let us know if you're still seeing
some lag there's a couple other
uh things we can investigate on that um
but we're hoping to get the lag issues
resolved on the desert oasis event
um the airship defense on stomach's
castle
um so you here's some big uh like
balance changes with uh things within
the game itself right so the airship
defense
uh is being reduced uh the the damage is
being reduced by 33
so it's a pretty big change on that yeah
um
just felt like it was just a little bit
too powerful
a little yeah a little um and then i
have
a number of changes regarding uh yield
banners
and um i was really hoping you weren't
going to cut that one out
please talk about the matters yeah so
i'm not supposed to say the
that ner okay i'm not saying it's not my
rule
i'm just telling you i am i'm saying
that we're adjusting these things
because you know what you're the boss of
me you can say what you want we're
adjusting these things
because they are uh not where we want
them to be
um i mean honestly it's like you think
about you go into
you know you're a soldier in a war and
you have your kit and you know your
rifle and sidearm and
your banner knife and grenade stuff like
that um
you know those are kind of your skills
and all that right and these things were
kind of like supposed to be the
flamethrowers and bazookas and all that
kind of stuff right
what they turned into are basically the
nuclear weapons you know so
we don't we want this to enhance the
battle not be the battle
[Laughter]
so um uh so number of changes coming to
that um
first off the defiance bar regeneration
has been slowed um it's been greatly
reduced
um so you should be able to break the
bar uh more often
okay uh the refill time has been taken
from 15 seconds down to three seconds
one thing that we're seeing is that um
it took a lot of cc to take the bar down
um once the person was stunned from that
then they would do sunbreak get out of
it you know and then when all is
refilling then they would be effectively
immune to cc entirely right
that is so kind of strong yeah so what's
being taken down quite a bit
um uh we're also not allowing profession
skills like uh
mesmer's continuing shift uh to be used
while carrying a banner um they're able
to
basically reset the cooldowns on
everything um so that they can use big
skills over and over again
um so won't be able to do that anymore
um individuals and i'm gonna
quickly go through these okay um so
start with the turtle manor um so shell
shock
uh the radius has been reduced from 360
to 300
shelter uh duration has been uh reduced
from eight seconds to six
max targets reduced from twenty to ten
uh saved by the shell
uh duration reduced from four seconds to
three
i love all these names you guys
tyler came up with these names thanks
tyler he's fantastic at this
um shell wall uh duration reduced from
ten seconds to eight uh bombshell
uh protection stability duration reduced
from 20 seconds to
and the radius was reduced from 600 to
450.
uh for the dragon spanner um the
dragon's my big one this is a big
cascading skill
there's a bug in there that was causing
players to get hit twice
when they're standing across the regions
and so
um that's not gonna happen anymore so uh
it's it's basically gonna reduce the
effectiveness on that because
it hurts less yeah um dragon's blast um
damage reduced by uh forty percent uh
dragon's wings
uh this thing that launches your uh
opponents and gives your uh
your teammates uh super speed uh it was
also doing damage it won't do damage
anymore
um on dragon's wings uh dragon's breath
um duration reduced from 15 to 10
damage reduced by 40 percent uh distance
reduced from 2000 to 1800
uh and this one also has the same issue
with um
the cascading regions so uh that has
also been fixed on this one
um it's on terra banner uh stampede of
arrows
uh damage reduced by 20 also has the
same issue with the regions so that's
been fixed as well
uh spiked barricade duration reduced
from 20 seconds to 10
immobilized duration reduced from five
seconds to three um but you can now use
skill what's moving
um a couple of a couple other minor
notes on that
so anyway um those are the highlights
those are the highlights that's not the
whole thing there's more coming tuesday
uh like i said the team has been working
very hard um
really focusing on uh trying to get
things adjusted
um uh in the existing rollers world
um you know in this update for tuesday

for the enhanced squad ui
yes so we're going to give you those are
all coming on tuesday so we're going to
give you a preview of those are you
ready to
start with the lieutenant or yeah we're
gonna actually talk about the lieutenant
first um
so uh we've noticed that a lot of um
larger squads
can have some issues um for the
commander help uh
needing to actually manage a lot more
than um really they they
might need to yeah there's a lot going
on when you're yeah exactly
um so we've added the ability to have
lieutenants now if mark could go over
to the game i can actually show it off
just see how this so first i'm going to
tag
up and then i'm going to invite these
lovely people
into my group thank you lovely people
who are sitting in the studio helping
there we go okay
and as they join in all right so
we have the lieutenant
and the right and we're going to make
the
left tenant an actual lieutenant so
we're going to appoint him
the lieutenant and you'll see that an
icon changes on him to actually indicate
that he is in fact a lieutenant hey
yeah now lieutenants can also add
squad markers just like i can so i can
place
a couple of markers here and there
and so can each of the lieutenants
i am going to interrupt to tell cameron
that's not how my name is spelled and
dude really carry on
so um now that we have um a couple of
markers out
now you might wonder um who actually
um uh is setting markers well
we have a lovely new chat filter that
we've added
mark could you show that
thank you all right so down in the game
messages section
we added a whole new uh area for squad
information now this
will actually show when and who
set various markers okay object markers
versus
location markers um now you might be
wondering
um i'm very interested in these markers
so assuming you're gonna tell us yes um
so in fact we actually have eight of
each
shape and i'll go ahead and actually
draw them all
out for everyone to see if i can
actually
do
all right so we have all of these
different markers where you can
start sending people to different
objectives for different purposes
and basically um you can tart it's
it's a specific distance that you can
target them actually in
but it is a pretty generous distance um
roughly
uh just over 2000 uh units
yeah so i do want to mention something
that you were telling me while we were
going over this earlier this week
is that we have all of these different
symbols and they're all different colors
and i had asked you
can we change can we change the colors
or can we
you know can we do that and you were
telling me that we cannot change the
colors but
can i get you to talk a little bit about
one of the things you had in mind when
you were designing these
yeah so um when when we were putting
these together we tried to come up with
a good language and um to to benefit
those say who are colorblind um we
actually
did went with shapes and very high
contrast shapes
so that it'd be pretty easy to pick out
all the various things
so you don't have to look for a specific
number
or anything like that and they're nice
big icons both here and
on the map if the map is too tiny so
they translate into
any language because you're not looking
at letters or numbers
and it works if you're colorblind you
can still tell what's going on
it's it's a small touch but i really
appreciate that you guys put that in
um let's see okay so oh yes so i can
also
set markers on myself now you have to be
kind of careful sometimes your settings
can
cause you to target other things that
are near you but if i'm careful
i can actually set one on myself too how
do you how do you physically set these
by the way um so oh
good question thank you we have a whole
new
section which you guys might have
noticed on uh live for a while
um that was called commanders but now is
called squad and it has
a whole bunch of new keybinds
now these are uh individually named
for the in fact shape that uh that they
are associated with as well as
numbered um right now now we do have two
key binds that are special
for clearing both location and object
markers
but and i could in fact actually just
clear
just location markers or object markers
by just doing that but i can also
if you uh are want to be more efficient
you can go into the options and we have
a new section down here
called groups that we added
this particular checkbox which allows
you to
clear all the squad markers anytime you
use either keybind
okay all right so all of that's going to
be
in your options menu you can just key
binds for everything object markers
location markers
different kinds of clearing awesome and
uh while i'm in here
i'm going to go ahead and talk about the
show all commanders tags which we also
added
with this update now um we
uh when you when you go into a squad
currently um
you can't see all the other commander
tags that are on the map
right and so if you want to actually see
all the other commander tags then you
just go ahead and
check that one that's it i like that
it's an option because when i go into a
squad i'm
kind of enjoy the okay the map is now
cleaned up for me right sometimes you
want it clean sometimes you don't yeah
um sometimes you want to see where all
the other commanders are
all right so you can toggle that off and
on yeah nice
uh let's see all right so you have your
lieutenant you have your marker set
now i'm gonna go ahead and clear all of
our markers
okay now if i could have the
lieutenant kick someone that'd be great
there's only one other person to kick
and it's kind of making me feel bad for
her
you're lieutenant
okay okay um yeah i haven't put in chat
he may not be hearing you
i was wondering what you were gonna say
i was like okay so and
and now you can actually see that that
is in fact logged as well
um and camera's on fire today
and just like that i can also demote him
and now he's been demoted and it's noted
just just so that everyone has their own
own ability and stuff like that of the
whole thing which is great
all right so if he's doing that
basically if the lieutenant's being a
jerk
is what is what we're trying not to say
here but it's true
essentially all right so
that is it adds a lot of functionality
to it and i
really appreciate that so that's kind of
that's going to give you guys a head

what we're going to be doing is talking

tibble came to us and we're like all

to train we need you to come up because
we're going to be putting you in the
heart of thorns we got to put you in a
hard thought so you got to you got to
bring to the table what are you going to
bring to us temple
we took in we clothed you we fed you he
brought some orients with you but yeah
we'll make some armor out of that we'll
do whatever you want

a few skills just like all missed

when he comes in when you spawn him you
know you summon him in the miss champion
he will use a skill now this skill which
you think if you're like think a temple
you're like what's tipple he's already
got a gun he's got this he's got that
wow where'd you get that you know what
don't ask you get the temple
questions arabic is a typical you know
when you when you do it yeah check under
your chairs
because i i guess we we got apples here

tibbled he has a skill
war cry on war cry what does he do he
will drop
apples on his allies apples
rain from the sky and drop on
you and if you pick those up you will
get you a clear condition
and you will get some resistance all
right so resistance you're like whoa
tibble you've upgraded
you know back in the day you didn't have
resistance but now we do tibble you
learned you did your job
congratulations so war cry drops apples
on you
all right uh you you will then pick them
up for condition removal and
apples of health that's right that's
right what else you got
so now more we got passives we got
passives so
it's all about defense but you know we
already have uh tori who's about
protection and all that stuff
and blocking so he's gonna be the
condition guy so his passive is when you
stand around tibble
he's going to pulse resistance on you
okay but he's also going to drop those
same apples on you because he's got a
lot of apples he's been in the midst for
a while he's been growing
half the fields back there covered in
apples because of tibble
please he's like i'm saving these up for
when i come out like all right all right
fine temple fight you can have that
that's your land sure
so you stand around him he will drop the
apples on you again he'll give you
resistance if you pick the apples up as
well you'll get a little more resistance
and clear conditions
so again all about getting rid of
condi's candy control that's what
temple's used i like it
kind of removable but his favorite his
best skill
the best one this is the one this yeah
i asked him i was like our tip listen
what do you got for me like your
engineer
you know you're from the order whisper
you got some like you know
you're about poison you're like you got
resistance what is what do you got for
me timber what are you gonna bring to
the table
i got guys that give hey we knock down
shoot cannons from ships
uh what do you what are you bringing for
me he's like listen i got you
remember those apple fields i was like
yeah what about the apple physics you
know we've had
a lot of a lot of these apples have
gone bad i mean they've been growing for
like two years and they're just hanging
they're just hanging out i'm like all

we decided to give him some steam punky

spruce him up a little bit i know
but then like i said he brought the
orients with him the bodies
so we're like we'll make we'll make some
skins out of that for you so we got the
orient
armored temple it feels like revenge i
like it that's right but then you know
he we had our seasons recently
and so he's been participating so you
know what we decided to give him some
armor
we're like all right you know what
timber you can have some of that pvp
sweetheart check you out so we got that
for us
okay so we got them equipped so make
sure everybody knows how to do this if
you once you buy them
you just go ahead and sorry and so boom
look how excited he is and we're going
to do that so let's go ahead
by the power of dev hacks here i'm going
to do a couple things here i'm going to
type correctly first that's the big

we're like apples
bite into them and you're going to hear
some of these sound effects these oh the
crunching i forgot audio guys did a
great job
they so the crunching sounds when you
eat these apples these are the most
crisp
apples you'll ever see most of them yeah
yeah that's right they're a little rough
a little rough but i'm hoping i got a 50
chance for this to be on this side let's

resistance awesome cool i like that i

some of that resistance so you can see
the resistance time is is you know
not super long but then i can actually
supplement this oh app
you just took my apples tibble did he
seriously drop that yes
can i actually get the apple so if you
actually want to give resistance to
tibble you can actually stand near him
and the apples will drop and he can pick
them up they are
his apples so if not i'm going to go
ahead and do a couple more little things
here
i don't want you to die tibble and i'm
going to give myself the skill
that is also as you can see temple does
throw um
poison apples he's also our first ranged
miss champion all the others champions
have been melee so this guy will be able
to pressure from a little bit of afar
uh but i'm gonna go ahead and do table

i made you i could destroy you with a
button
called the pillow i really do like the
kill everything button
i know so we're gonna i'm gonna go ahead
and break this door open as well holy
crap
this is this is the fastest way to win
uh stronghold
uh uh i'm gonna go ahead and kill the
mage here
and the cleric it's true uh i'm gonna do
that and what i'm gonna do is when tibal
uses his sweet sweet skill
i'm going to kind of slow down time a
bit so we can kind of look at the
amazing things
for these guys really get the essence of
disgusting yes the effect guys that did
this i asked was like i need something
really awesome for tivoli and i could
have told him what i wanted and he gave
me
exactly what i wanted come on table it's
getting late we got to see this thing i
know all right
so we're going to go ahead and do this
wait for tipple to pop it up and we're
going to look at

apple it only lasts for a little bit of
time the one thing we wanted to do in
pvp as well is we wanted to make sure we
didn't
overload effects we have a lot of
effects already in pvp
so temple's animation is pretty pretty
subtle it drops on the head stuns you
for a second
if it's the lord it will it will stun
them oh no i'm gonna die
okay yeah you're you're in trouble here
this is a problem
no okay i'm good now um
yeah jessica's kind of yeah she'll
she'll destroy you if you're not careful
um but yeah made it's really
affect light when you get hit by it you
will know you were fit by it because you
have the apple in your head
it will turn kind of nasty it puts five
stacks of poison you he is also the only
miss champ that does
actually has condition damage as well so
we'll do a pretty decent damage but
nothing crazy
um yeah he's super fun i i mean
resistance is really strong he
he gives you a pretty decent amount of
it but there is a lot of play to it
because he doesn't give you 100
time by collecting the apples you will
get close to 100 uptime
but you know it's it's more of the play
of hey
do i have to weigh the risk reward of do
i try to get these apples to give myself
a bunch of
resistance or do i continue the fight
and moving with tibble right oh
here he goes okay let's see let's take a
look at this disgusting apple
all right so mister then i have one more
question for you
oh yeah look at that that is delicious
tibble you've been grooming that thing
for a while
that is horrendous instead i mean that
the best way oh man look at the worms

how do you get tibble so this is
actually come up a bunch

of thorns so when you have heart of
thorns what you do is you open up your
build panels you go to the top open your
build panel
go to the miss champions page and then
i'll show an example on nika because
nick is pretty much the exact same way
you would right click the lock because
you see here that she's locked
right click activate reward track okay
and what that's going to do is if i had
money
it would how do you not have money
you're on dev
i know you should have all the money
yeah you'd right click activate reward
track and a thing would come up telling
me that
if you have 15 gold you can buy the
reward track and what that does do for
you
is when you do it uh if you go to the
pvp panel you will see
that you will get a reward track or war
track here that you can
go and get the miss champion but only do
you get the miss champion
but you also get a bonus track which
looks
like this which also gives you
the mini for that specific missed
champion so we have one for grim we have
one for nica and now we have one
for tibble and this is not the temple
that's on live this is the typical this
is a different
new typical it's the um steam punch
the one that's already in game which one
is that it's just a regular tip this
reward
track gives you miniature steampunk
tipple yep is that what we call him yeah
miniature steampunk well he's
mini tipple roar track but he does that
you also always just you guys know you
also get a blackline key
for every one of these roar tracks as
well on the 50
excuse me i have something to do yes so
every one of these also guarantees you a
black land key on this guy so
sweet you spend 15 gold but you know
what you get a black lion key you get a
couple minis you get some stuff along
the way
and 15 gold is not that painful no all
right
so that's tibble and his thematic apples
that's right do you want to get the rest
of these up here because i feel like
it's just i was going to put one up
every time you said apples
but it just got to be too much and i
couldn't do it all right
