Emperor Kyobok was an Emperor of Cantha and predecessor to Emperor Bitgaram. He and most of the Imperial Family were casualties of the Zhaitan Disaster which devastated the northern Canthan shoreline and flooded most of Old Kaineng City.

History[edit]

Early years[edit]

Kyobok was born to the Imperial Family of the Empire of the Dragon. He and his wife, Empress Ha Rin, had many children, including their youngest son Prince Hoon and their oldest daughter Princess Ha-Nui. When the Rising of Orr caused the Great Tsunami that hit Cantha in 1729 CC (1219 AE), the emperor and most of his family, along with the royal guard and the servants, were in Raisu Palace at the time and witnessed the flooding of Old Kaineng City first-hand. Kurzick ambassadors Asmund zu Heltzer and Eira zu Heltzer were also in the palace, presumably as prisoners.[1]

Legacy[edit]

Emperor Kyobok and the rest of the tsunami's victims were found dead amidst the rubble in Raisu Palace based on the report of a rescue team headed by Minister Zal and Jimin who had managed to breach into the throne room. Increased Risen activity in the ruins prevented the pair from investigating further. Jimin returned from the ruins visibly shaken.[1][2][3]

Bitgaram initially succeeded the late Kyobok as acting emperor before being officially crowned. In the following years, Minister Yeongi of the Ministry of Purity used the recovering state of the regime to his advantage to assume more power for himself, eventually leading to a war between the Ministry of Purity and Bitgaram's successor and daughter, Empress Haebaragi.
