User talk:Stephane Lo Presti/GW2 prepurchase retailers list
Head Start Access[edit]
"Players who pre-purchase and receive 3-day Headstart Access will have an advantage over players who pre-order and receive 1-day Headstart Access." http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/game-faq/ do you get the 3 day head start only by ordering from http://buy.guildwars2.com/ ? and do players who buy from the prepurchase retailers list only get the 1-day Headstart Access?? Rudhraighe 22:53, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Both. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:25, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- From: http://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/announcing-pre-purchase-for-guild-wars-2.html Announcing Pre-Purchase for Guild Wars 2 March 13, 2012 6:00 AM Starting April 10, players can secure their Guild Wars 2 Limited Collector's Edition, Digital Edition, or Digital Deluxe copy by pre-purchasing the entire game at buy.guildwars2.com or at select retailers. Players who pre-purchase any edition will have guaranteed entry into all beta weekend events, three-day headstart access to the final game, and Hero's Band in-game item. - "select retailers" means that not all retailers will offer a prepurchase of Guild Wars 2. But if you prepurchase via any retailer offering the prepurchase, then you qualify for the access to beta weekend events, the 3-day headstart and the Hero's band. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:36, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Here in Australia I prepurchased the collectors edition but unfortunately they don't know about teh beta key yet, I will visit them after 10 April to see if they got access to beta event keys or not163.189.7.40 05:42, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I may be wrong but I don't think you should have been able to pre-purchase until 10th April. If so it's most likely something the shop are doing on their own rather than the official promotion. Personally I wouldn't take my chances with anyone offering it before the official date (or not on this list), especially if they don't know what you should be getting. I know some places just don't tell the sales staff (I used to work in a video game store myself), but I still wouldn't pay full price without being 100% sure of what I'd be getting. 86.150.26.197 08:55, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Pre-purchase and Pre-order are not the same, they are different programs. Please be certain that your retailer knows the difference. In a pre-purchase program you are paying before the release and ship date and you should get a pre-purchase packet. In a pre-order they hold your account information and only debit your account when the item is confirmed "ready to ship". If you do not recieve a pre-purchase packet on the day you pay for the game then you need to contact your retailer Rudhraighe 14:49, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi it is me again, in Australia we are getting beta key on 16 April, it is a bit late compared to USA but as long as I get it before next BTW, I will be happy163.189.7.40 04:12, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

What does "CE" stand for?[edit]
I have a question.. what does it mean "CE"? --Kyx 22:45, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- It means that that the retailer will offer prepurchase of the Collector's Edition of Guild Wars 2. I've added a note to clarify this. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 22:46, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Does that mean "only" CE or "also" CE? --Wubbbi 22:48, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

- I think Stephane needs to confirm, I am afraid it's the only CEs in a region if it says CE. Mango 23:12, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- CE means they sell the Collector's Edition in addition to the Standard Edition. These are also the only retailers offering the prepurchase for the Collector's Edition. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:21, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Just wanted to point out that I am disappointed only Gamestop will be selling pre-purchase for CE in the US. I don't like the company/store and am conflicted about pre-purchasing now. Mango 00:10, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Get over it and stop whining --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.210.249.81 (talk).
- I agree with Mango... I was hoping to pre-purchase the CE, but having it only available from GameStop in the US means I will be unable to pre-purchase it unless I stop boycotting GameStop - something that I don't plan on doing. Please try to add additional US CE retailers! --24.60.3.225 18:02, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Pre-purchase bonuses digital only or via retailers too?[edit]
When I prepurchase at a retailer, do I still get the stuff like "3 Days earlier access to the game", "All Beta-Event" and the "Ring" or is this Digital only ( bought at the ArenaNet shop )? --Wubbbi 23:21, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

No retailer listed for Poland[edit]
So is the inclusion of Poland an error, or is the omission of a store the error? Mif 22:51, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- As far as I remember CDProjekt confirmed that they would be working on presenting Guild Wars 2 in Poland. It's included because it's bound to be on there when THE FULL LIST IS POSTED. Poland was a country that had it's own servers in Guild Wars, so I would be extremely surprised if they didn't get a retailer. 217.113.225.76 22:54, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

No retailer for New Zealand[edit]

- EBGames NZ has it listed here: http://www.ebgames.co.nz/pc-157066-Guild-Wars-2-Collectors-Edition-PC and so has MightyApe here:http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PC-Games/Guild-Wars-2-Collectors-Edition/19758769/. - Pre-orders and pre-purchase are different things and give you access to different things, see the pre-purcahse FAQ at http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/game-faq/ for more information. - Less than a week and no word about New Zealand yet. I might be wrong but doesn't EB Australia run the EB New Zealand stores (going by the wiki page about EB Australia), so can't you ask EB Australia if they are going to do pre-purchases for New Zealand? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 101.98.150.7 (talk).
- Looks Like I'm going to go cancel my pre-order I've had for years, since there is no word about New Zealand and it's now the 10th here. I even rang the local EB games and they didn't have a clue. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 101.98.150.7 (talk).

Thank you[edit]
For the Belgium love . Was wondering if Game mania would do pre-purchase instead of pre-order. thank you RhoninSoren 22:53, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Honestly, I would have been really surprised if Game Mania wouldn't carry that... It's like the only chain of video game stores we have in Belgium xD... --81.164.147.120 06:00, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
digital CE from stores[edit]
Will the digital CE also be purchasable from stores because i don't really want to pay 70€ extra for some things i don't use or particulary like RhoninSoren 22:53, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- The Digital CE, as I understood you, is the Digital Deluxe version. ( without any physical Stuff correct? ). As I know this can only be bought at the arenanet shop. --Wubbbi 22:56, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- There is no digital collectors edition, as there is nothing to collect. Its sort-of-equivalent is the digital deluxe, which does indeed only come with the digital bonuses, no box or other physical stuff at all, and is bought directly via NCsoft. --zeeZ (talk) 23:27, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- There is no "Digital CE", please see this page for the available editions: https://buy.guildwars2.com/ --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:28, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

- The fact that it's called the 'Digital Deluxe' implies that no, it won't be available at physical retailers. But then again who knows. 202.72.135.193 01:43, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Just want to clarify my previous answer, given that some people seem confused: "digital" refers to editions of Guild Wars 2 that don't have a box, you simply get the game and the other items in-game. I hope that this clarifies the matter for all. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 19:16, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- We know the "digital deluxe" will not have a physical copy if you buy it from the NCsoft website. What we are wondering is if there is a "physical deluxe" (not CE) edition that will have the digital bonuses and the physical game, but not the physical bonus stuff. Many people like owning a box and disk for the games they buy, but also want the in-game items. I hope this clarifies the question. Khetnen 01:01, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
Amazon[edit]
I see Amazon there on the list. So what about https://twitter.com/#!/GuildWars2/status/180328806056345600 then? Did this get changed completely, as in, did Amazon just now join in, or it is just that online retailers like Amazon already allowed you to buy it, but that this does not automatically count as pre-purchase, instead you have to withdraw your order manually and order the special Guild Wars 2 Pre-Purchase "version"? 84.167.243.198 23:17, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- Amazon sometimes (usually?) allows for games they know will eventually come around to be preordered without actually knowing much about it or striking a deal with the publisher. It's like going to your local random game store and telling them you're definitely going to buy Super Street Modern Battlefield Turbo Warfare X Ninja Turtles Ninja Pirates Deluxe if someone ever made that game. Now that they actually do have a deal with the publisher they (get to) know specifics about the whens and hows and whats.
- Also note that there is a distinct difference between pre-order and pre-purchase. While the former version charges you on shipping day, it'll only give you a day of head start and no additional benefits. The latter, which buy.guildwars.com and this list are about, gets you charged as soon as you (pre-)purchase the thing with all its benefits.
- I hope this made it sort of clearer (and is actually correct ;)) --zeeZ (talk) 23:25, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
If you pre-ordered the game from Amazon before April 10, you will need to work with Amazon to determine if your pre-order will be converted to an official Guild Wars 2 Pre-Purchase. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:32, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- So will Amazon offer two version, one pre-order and one pre-purchase? So if you do nothing, you will pre-order, and if you want to pre-purchase, you have to talk to them and/or cancel the pre-order and order the other version? Or will they cancel pre-order? Or is this totally up to Amazon and you have no idea? 84.167.243.198 23:37, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- You will have to talk to Amazon to get answers to your questions as they are the only ones who can provide the exact answers. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:41, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- The question I have about Amazon is: will they offer pre-purchase for the Collector's Edition, or has that been completely ruled out? If it's know for certain that they won't offer it, I'll begin looking for another retailer (which will be no small headache) now. If they may still offer it from here to April 10th, then I could wait until then. Erasculio 00:25, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I just got a reply from Amazon, and according to the text of the email (pardon the 'snip') ... I have checked into the promotional offer on the manufacturer's website. While Amazon.com is an authorized dealer of Guild Wars 2 we are not a participating dealer for this particular promotion. (Referring to Pre-Purchase prior to April 10th) Algonda 18:04, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- Look on the list for your country. If it says Amazon - CE then they will. If not then they won't. But check back on the 10th in case it's changed. 86.150.26.197 09:16, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I asked Amazon support here in Germany just some hours ago, and they told me that their Collector's Edition is only pre-order, and NOT pre-purchase. I can't speak for any other country, though. --Tera 17:00, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

- Amazon.de just sent me an update regarding my Guild War 2 pre-order and told me how it works: No CE because ArenaNet/NCSoft didn't give them keys (?). They also list the pre-purchase version as Standard Edition and the Standard Edition as "Guild Wars 2 (without Beta Access)". The pre-purchase version gets released on April, 10th (obviously) but is basically treated as every other product. I have to cancel and/or pre-order the so called "Standard Edition" for the pre-purchase. 84.167.243.58 10:57, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- What they are saying on the CE product page is "The publisher couldnt give us the keys in a format that would make the experience good enough for our customers." Now I really wonder what that means... I guess it's because they didn't want to ship twice for a single order, and would have preferred to just email the beta keys and ship everything else on release date, but they only got the keys in boxes, and not digitally. --Tera 09:24, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
Standard Edition through Amazon: My chat conversation with an Amazon Rep. You are now connected to Mary from Amazon.com.
Me:I am unclear as to the news floating about the web concerning the new upcoming game Guild Wars 2. There is supposed to be a Standard Pre purchase edition. Amazon says you can preorder but there is a difference between the two.12:44:55 PM
Mary:Hello, my name is Mary. How are you today?12:45:14 PM
Me:Im good Mary, hopefully your day is going well also12:45:34 PM
Mary:Oh I am good Larry thanks, Before I look into your account, I need to verify that you're the account holder. Can you tell me the name on your account, your e-mail address, and your billing address, please?12:46:00 PM
Me:Larry XXXXXXXXXXX12:46:17 PM
Me:XXXXXXXXXXXXX12:46:26 PM
Me:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX12:46:48 PM
Me:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX12:46:55 PM
Me:address may be different since 911 updated street address in the area... not sure if I have updated my account to relect 911 new address12:47:31 PM
Mary:Thanks a lot Larry, just a little question, I have a different street name do you have another one? 12:47:41 PM
Me:Old one was 12:47:52 PM
Me:XXXXXXXXXXXX12:47:59 PM
Mary:That is the one I have thanks a lot 12:48:14 PM
Mary:So I see you were wondering about the game called Guild Wars 2 correct? 12:48:45 PM
Me:Yes... lots of news floating about... trying to get a straight answer since Amazon is listed as one of the retailers offering pre purchase 12:49:26 PM
Mary:Oh ok well right now we are offering the game for $59.99, you can purchase it now and you will get it when released. 12:50:07 PM
Me:Well theres a slight issue... I am trying to find out if Amazon is offering pre-order or pre purchase... the difference being access to beta events before the game release and a headstart access to the game before opening day12:51:27 PM
Mary:Larry in this case we are offering a pre- order for the game12:52:13 PM
Mary:If you place a pre-order now, we'll ship the game to you once it's been released and we've received inventory.12:52:55 PM
Me:Herein lies the confustion some people are saying you can pre-order... Pay for the entire game and get the pre purchase edition with all the extras but I wanted to chat and get more info before I laid down money and be possibly disappointed that its not what I thought12:53:40 PM
Mary:I understand well right now that is what I can tell you Larry, let me double check if I can get more information on it12:54:59 PM
Me:so basically your telling me Amazon only offers pre-orders... when the game is released. So I am assuming April 10 is not when Amazon has for the date to start filling orders12:55:04 PM
Mary:One moment pleaser12:57:27 PM
Mary:please*12:57:30 PM
Me:no prob take your time12:57:36 PM
Mary:Thanks a lot12:57:44 PM
Me:Here is what Arenanet the developer of Guild Wars 2 says:1:00:50 PM
Me:•Standard Edition (North America)—Customers will buy the Standard Edition Pre-Purchase box and receive a Pre-Purchase serial code. They will then go to https://register.guildwars2.com and follow the on-screen instructions to create a Guild Wars 2 account and apply the serial code, which will give them access to Beta Weekend Events, the Hero's Band digital item, and three-day Headstart Access to the final game. When Guild Wars 2 launches, customers will need to return to the retailer with proof of purchase to receive the full Standard Edition box and retail serial code. They will need to apply this retail serial code to their Guild Wars 2 account within five days to continue playing without interruption.1:00:55 PM
Me:This is what I am looking to buy if Amazon offers it.1:04:29 PM
Mary:Oh ok, just a moment 1:04:39 PM
Mary:Larry I was looking for further info and It seems to be the pre purchased edition 1:08:04 PM
Me:So Amazaon will ship the pre-purchase edition on April 10th correct?1:08:54 PM
Mary:That is correct 1:09:11 PM
Me:Then you've made me a happy camper!!1:09:28 PM
Mary:Awesome, that seems to be a pretty cool game by instance. Is there anything else you needed help with?1:10:11 PM
Me:Nope that pretty much covers it... I will have to whip out the ole wallet when I get home... thanks for your help Mary!! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 216.82.251.228 (talk).
- Well, the fact that Amazon is selling the Prepurchase Standard Edition is nothing new, the whole confusion comes when talking about the CE, because: For the standard edition they can send you the box with your key on April 10 and charge you. For the CE, they have to charge you on April 10, but send the box much later. They have a policy of not charging you until they can give you the items you ordered, so their systems just don't support "Pay now, get item someday later". --Tera 13:12, 7 April 2012 (UTC)

Retailer for Serbia[edit]
Could you specify more clearly "gameS" retailer for Serbia, because when we go to games.rs it goes to some Counter Strike forum or something? Pexzor 23:38, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Digital Edition via other retailers[edit]
Sorry, but i have another question xD. There is any chance that i will be able to pre-purchase the Digital Edition from some other retailers? or it's a A-net exclusive? If it's not an exclusive, then, i will be able to pre-purchase a "physical" version of it (a box with a code, like i did with all the 4 version of Gw1)? --Kyx 23:49, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
- There is a standard edition that's your regular ol' box. While there's no mention of it on buy.guildwars2.com, all retailers on this list should sell it (unless some that got the CE decide to neglect the standard edition). As far as I know the two digital only versions will only be available via NCsoft. --zeeZ (talk) 12:05, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Does purchase of box mean game or game download 3 days in advance?[edit]
With buying the hard copy dose that mean that we will get the game 3 days in advance or just a link to download 3 days in advance? - Zesbeer 00:17, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Loosely from the FAQ: You prepurchase, you get a prepurchase box that contains a key you create an account with, which will give you beta access and the head start. Once GW2 launches you have 5 days (in which you can play the full game normally before you are required to add a retail key) to return to your retailer to get the actual game box to activate the full game with. The only exception here is the European standard edition which does not require this last step. This also means you don't need to have a physical box right away on launch day, which implies a download/an update of the beta client to retail. --zeeZ (talk) 00:24, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

I was tempted to title this "No retailer listed for Brazil", but the joke probably wouldn't work :-P Any idea if any country in South America will have a retailer? We have lots of possible players down here, too. Erasculio 00:32, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Additional UK CE retailers[edit]
Just curious but will there be any additions for the CE UK retailers? I've been a hardcore GWs player since july/aug 05 and had no breaks within that time so needless to say I desperately want to buy the GWs2 CE but I have a feeling that they will be sold out by the time I come to buy one :( and not only that but by the sounds of it you cannot buy the hard copy of the CE from the digital store (makes sense I guess), but as I cant get out to any stores due to work and other commitments will there be any other stores added? Thanks for any replies. --Find And Seek 21:47, 29 March 2012 (UTC) (sorted out my profile finally ~.~)
- I looked over the retailers for the UK, and it looks like Zavvi is currently your option for pre-orders. Looking over their website, it appears that you can place orders directly from the site. Therefore you shouldn't even need to leave your computer to place that order. Just make sure you have an up-to-date account with them in preparation. Other than taht, you'll need to wait and see if any additions will be made to the UK sites. Cheers! Venom20 01:41, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

- They might not list the CE until the 10th. The have it showing sold out for that SE for now and will open it back up on the 10th when they can start selling it. They might not want to do that with the CE since that is something that would potentially sell out for real and don't want to confuse/upset their customers. 22:07, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Different Timezones and start of pre-purchase[edit]
I was just wondering, when it says 10th April, is that 10th April local time? Or US (east coast? west coast?) time?. In Australia, we're like 15 hours ahead of US, and I want to get there as early as possible so I can get a CE.202.72.135.193 02:26, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- EB will happy take your money right now. I really can't imagine a reason why if you purchased today you can't just call them on the 10th and confirm all is in order. 203.15.208.23 03:33, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I don't trust EBGames they've screwed me over before with games that I pre-order arriving late or not at all. Got my refunds but it still pissed me off. I'm taking a big leap of faith (out of desperation really) just by pre-purchasing from them, simply because I really want the statue and they seem to be the only local retailer who will sell the CE.180.216.41.4 15:16, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Game/Gamestation difficulties[edit]
Just wondering if Game are going to be allowed to sell the CE version, i know currently it's up in the air as Game is in the process of being bought out after nearly going bust. What will be the soonest we could know whether they'll be trusted again? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 109.158.13.138 (talk).
- Game currently isn't accepting pre-orders (at their end) due to being in admin, so I don't expect anyone in their corporate office is currently looking for the GW2 pre-purchase/pre-order stuff. But maybe they'll have it at launch, if they get bought out by someone. 90.200.125.245 03:53, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Game/Gamestation is currently in the process of being bought but unfortunately this will take a while and is unlikely to be finalised til 14-04-12 so too late for them to organise the pre-purchase of GW2, but they have confirmed that they will sell the normal retail version once it is released. A shame but i'm glad they're still going to be around. 188.28.142.213 02:00, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
Asian Market[edit]
Any retailer for Asia? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 112.203.21.10 (talk).
how can NcSoft and Anet forget whole continent (ASIA), not a single country from Asia that's bad :(( , please do some thing about it. All though i am from India i would love to see some retailers in Asia. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 124.123.57.183 (talk).
I am from India too as are three of my friends who are also going to pre-purchase Guild Wars 2 on April 10th. We are planning to buy the digital version from NCSoft's website directly but if ArenaNet can get in touch with one/few of the retailers here, we would LOVE to buy the box versions. Thank you! I've checked with Qisahn and Tec Drome in Singapore and both have no information about Collector's Edition pre-purchase at all. Very disappointing that NcSoft and Anet don't have any retailers for Asia at all. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 218.186.17.250 (talk).

Question about region[edit]
Hi I am currently living in the US but I am French and I was wondering where I should buy the game and if it will result in some conflicts later when I go back to France. I bought GW1 in France and currently I cannot purchase any object in the in-game store, because of regional conflicts (I live in the US). So if I were to purchase the game in the US, first could I link my accounts to benefit from the hall of monument and second could I then use the in-game store (or equivalent) when I go back to France? And the same questions if I were to buy GW2 in France? I read on twitter that people from Europe and US could play together but what about the issues I mentioned? I hope it makes sense! Thanks! 68.228.37.240 06:16, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
Finland[edit]
Verkkokauppa.com is missing from this list. FYI. 194.100.53.62 06:37, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Puolenkuun Pelit also claims to have it, and apparently Gamestop Finland... there are almost more stores missing from this list than on it for Finland. So is this list just really incomplete, or are these retailers lying? 84.249.244.9 18:57, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
We added Gamestop Finland but I don't know about the other Finish retailers that are mentioned here. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 19:28, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- Atleast Verkkokauppa.com claims to be official retailer in email they send to me. Maybe there is some lack of information from importer? Anyway I ordered CE from Verkkokauppa.com and normal edition from VPD just to be sure. --Julenal
non-CE boxed version?[edit]
Is there any way to pre-purchase a non-CE boxed version of Guild Wars 2? That is, a way to get the beta-access/3-day-head-start as well as a nice and shiny box for my games shelf without paying over 100 bucks? (Yes, I know, I am kind of old-fashioned. But I am collecting my game boxes since 1984, and I am kind of fond of it.) --MRA 06:42, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- That'd be the standard edition, which should be available from all of the retailers on the list. Retailers tagged with CE will sell the collectors edition in addition to the standard edition (unless for some reason they decide to sell it instead of the standard edition). --zeeZ (talk) 11:58, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- The problem is if you pre-purchase Standard Edition, and are in Europe, you will not get the actual retail game box. You will only get the pre-purchase box without the manual or discs. To get the actual box, you'd have to buy at release, and miss out on betas and headstart. 84.249.244.9 19:00, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Is that really what happens? I thought Europe just didn't have to go back to get a new serial code but they would still have a box waiting for them at the store. 20:03, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- The inlay in the pre-purchase box clearly states that there won't be any addtional box, and that's what i got from reading the FAQ etc. before, too. I would very much like to know what exactly will be in the retail box, for the examt same reason like MRA (well, not since 1984, but besides that..). 84.167.233.13 21:09, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- Is this problem the same for the US, or does this only apply to Europe? In other words, can you pre-purchase a standard edition, get access to beta access/head start, and then go back at release and pick up the physical game box with manual/discs/etc. in the US? CE in Slovenia[edit]
I would like to purchase the CE, but seeing no CE tag next to Igabiba - the retailer for slovenia, i'm wondering if that means I can't get it at all, or does it just mean that i have to buy it from A-net directly? Buying directly probably isn't a problem for me, I just want to know if that is actually an option, or does it mean I cannot get it at all? Sneaker 09:31, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- To the best of my knowledge, anet will only be selling the digital versions of the game. Ergo, you cannot purchase the CE from them. Unfortunately at this time, it does not look like Slovenia will carry the CE. Hopefully they add a retailer before April 10th. Good luck! Venom20 10:14, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Igabiba are now saying that they will be stocking the CE. That makes me immensely happy, although I would like to know if this is true and the list here will be updating, or if they're just putting up a placeholder IF they decide to stock the CE? Sneaker 18:57, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Digital Deluxe Pre-Purchase: Directly from NCSoft/ArenaNet?[edit]
I strongly assume that I will be able to buy the download only versions directly from NCSoft/ArenaNet on April 10th? Just asking for confirmation even if it seems very obvious. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 91.9.54.93 (talk).
Boxed versions and digital deluxe items (US)[edit]
I like my game boxes and definitely want a boxed GW2. I would love the Rytlock mini pet and Mistfire Wolf skill from the Digital Deluxe, but I'd rather have the game box, and CE is a bit too pricey for me at the moment. :(
- From the FAQ: In addition to the digital products, certain retailers will also be offering physical Pre-Purchase of the Guild Wars 2 Standard Edition and the Guild Wars 2 Collector's Edition.
So the only way to get a box is standard or CE from retailers only. Could you guys make a "Digital bonus pack" that one can buy on top of the standard boxed game pre-purchase? Such as the GW Game of the Year digital item upgrade that could be purchased separately from the in-game store if you already had the game.
Either way, thank you for taking the time to read this and making the best MMO to date. Can't wait to play! 174.22.137.79 22:52, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- I'm going to be getting the Digital Deluxe, but I second this idea of buying a digital upgrade for a standard box. I have seen a fair amount of "Want a box and DDE in-game items but not the full CE" and this sounds like a good way to get both the box and DDE items. 19:59, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- From the FAQ: Can I upgrade from a physical Standard Edition copy to Digital Deluxe?
- Yes, we will provide an upgrade path if you have Standard Edition and wish to upgrade to Digital Deluxe. We will release more information on this in the future. 77.5.209.135 14:34, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Pre-purchase Boxes?[edit]
I see in the FAQ if we pre-purchase a physical box we will get a pre-purchase box. I would like to make sure that this will be like when we preordered Factions, Nightfall, and EOTN. I have preorder things from my local gamestop before and when i would receive a code from them, it would be on the receipt. Should i be expecting this because it's there usual way of doing things, or hopefully will we be receiving a prepurchase box?(posting this from my phone so sorry if autocorrect made things illegible)
- Please see the [http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/game-faq/#forty-nine Pre-Purchase FAQ), and in particular the question "How does physical Pre-Purchase work?". Thank you ^^. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 19:31, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
Since I am me, and I've never done anything like this I just figured I'd ask to make it as crystal clear as possible, but ordering the CE from buy.guildwars2.com and everything will be shipped when they are suppose to, and I won't have to worry about returning anywhere to do anything, correct? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.128.202.22 (talk).
- There are basically 4 editions you can pre-purchase:
- Physical Standard
- Physical Collector's
- Digital Standard
- Digital Deluxe
- You can only buy the 2 digital versions directly from buy.guildwars2.com. The 2 physical versions you need to go to one of the retailers from the list to pre-purchase. If you go to a physical retail store then you will need to return there at release, but if you are buying from a retail website then they should ship everything to you when it is supposed to. For the digital versions everything you will need to know will be emailed to you. 22:18, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- "Collector's Edition (North America and Europe)—Customers will buy the Collector's Edition Pre-Purchase box and receive a Pre-Purchase serial code." This was more what I was getting at. Sorry for the misunderstanding. So more to the point, when I prepurchase my Collector's Edition should I be expecting to get a pre-purchace box from my local retailer, or should I be expecting a code on my receipt from said retailer (Gamesstop in US, since their usual MO for extras is printing off a code, I don't want to miss out on a pre-purchase box like we have had for most of the GW1 campaigns). Thank you for the quick response Stephane, you guys are the best. Grenth 23:46, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
What are the physical content differences between Physical Standard Edition Pre-Purchase box and Physical Standard Edition Full box? People who pre-purchase in Europe won't receive the Full box, so I'm wondering what they'll be missing (manuals, pictures, other?). Thanks! --Darkever 15:33, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
Is there a "in game" Difference between the DDE and the CE ?[edit]
i still need the answer to 1 question regarding the DDE vs the CE and that is if there is absolutelly anything other than the physical material that would distinguish the 2 in game. (ie will ppl in game be able to telll if you bought the CE?) Rudhraighe 14:52, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
- Good question! This is the only thing keeping me on the fence about buying the CE right now... We will be buying 2 accounts for me and my husband, so will probably get 1 DDE and 1 standard boxed so that we have a box. I'm not excited enough about the physical items in the CE, to be honest... Now if you could choose a figurine of Eir or the other Edge of Destiny characters, I might reconsider. :D (Or offer the full set of EoD minis with CE, then I'm sold!) 174.22.137.79 17:57, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
No there are no differences between the "in-game content" of these 2 editions. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 20:05, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Many people really dislike that company, myself included. Please provide another option if possible! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.173.8.200 (talk).
- I suppose you'll need to determine which is more important to you. Supporting Anet and Guild Wars, or your dislike for a chain of stores. Or you could always just check the list daily. Keep in mind that this is a List in Progress. Venom20 21:29, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

- GameStop is a company unworthy of such a high-profile software release. I am deeply disappointed you don't have any other US partners selling the CE. I can't speak for the people working in the physical stores, but as far as online/phone service goes, this company has been disrespectful in the past, and treat personal information in a very insecure manner. Please add another US company for the CE. 76.164.65.219 15:41, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

Is it possible to merge games?[edit]
Say I have pre-purchased the Digital Edition, and bought the Collector's Edition. Would it be possible to merge both games, so I would end with a single account sharing all the benefits of the pre-purchased Digital Edition and of the Collector's Edition? This kind of thing was possible in GW1, as we could just enter a game's product key to an already existing account, but I'm not sure if the same thing would apply to GW2.
(And while I'm here: we have been told this is a list with retailers who will have the prepurchase offer. But which retailers will offer the Collector's Edition without the prepurchase offer? For example, will there be any retailer in the USA offering the CE, or will Gamestop be the only retailer offering that edition of the game?) Erasculio 00:03, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Yes it will be possible to add several editions to the same account. At that point in time both GameStop and Best Buy are offering the Collector's Edition in the USA. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 21:24, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
- It was confirmed recently that Gamestop online pre-purchase for CE will be a true pre-purchase option. Can you confirm the same for Best Buy online Collector's Edition? Mango 02:52, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
CE in czech republic / slovakia?[edit]
Is there any CE distribution planned for this part of europe, or should we settle for ordering in more "western" countries? It is real shame xzone.cz is not included, they were quite great with preorders and CEs. Zweistein
Beta access keys delivery[edit]
How are beta access keys delivered, or whatever it is. Are these send to retailers in physical format or in digital? So can we expect to get these mailed to us or are these keys part of physical prepurchase box or something? --Julenal
- I would also like to know this. I would very much prefer a physical box like we had for the previous gw1 campaign preorders. Unfortunatly Stephane just refered me to FAQ. Maybe we'll get some answers soon.Grenth 16:20, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- The FAQ mentions a box you buy for all versions that aren't directly sold via NCsoft. The entry of the EU version of the standard edition supports that you get to buy those boxes starting April 10th. What else would they put in those boxes if not the pre-purchase keys? Looking at their track record the procedure stays the same, except you pay the full price in advance now. --zeeZ (talk) 16:31, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks ZeeZ. As long as there are others that are reading into the FAQ the same way I am, I suppose I can deal with waiting ajust over a week to see if our suspicions are correct.Grenth 17:57, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Advice for people from Holland[edit]
I hope it's allright if I give some advice to all other Dutch people here. I just went to Gamemania (Nieuwendijk, Amsterdam), and they told me they only had one collector's edition coming in, so I would advice everyone who wants to buy it there to go there as soon as possible. While you can't prepurchase yet, you can sort of preorder the prepurchase to be sure to have it. --Tosti 15:08, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- Bol.com has both versions up. I pre-ordered the Pre-purchase of the CE there, and the Order Button has been disappearing/reappearing for the last hour. That probably means that the Pre-order slots are running out fast. Better be quick to be safe~ Karuro 22:59, 30 March 2012 (UTC)
- After waiting since the first anouncement of GW2, I now discovered today, that the collectors edition has sold out already (april 1st) in both Belgium and the Netherlands. I've been waiting for the official retailer list to go up (to get a pre-purchase, not a pre-order: as only the pre purchase gets the 3-day headstart). I know the "SOLD OUT" is said to be because the game is not in yet, but:
- As it is, GameMania (for now the only CE retailer in Belgium) has their copies of the CE reserved for people who pre-ordered, which I can understand, but it leaves the rest of the people who wanted the CE out in the cold. I hope more CE's will be distributed (or made, if it isn't too late yet). I'd hate to miss out on the one CE I want(ed) most. Just wanted to get that out there as a customer. --Ellisia 18:24, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- Guess I'll say it here too; according to someone who had contact with Bol.com, they will open CE orders again on the 10th. Karuro 21:26, 1 April 2012 (UTC)
- So I went to my local Game Mania as well, figured I'd check, and as Tosti says, they'll only have one CE per store and most of them are already reserved. --Sirrush 12:37, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Bol.com has opened the CE again. It's on a new page. But if you ordered from the old page (like I did), you still get your CE.
- Concerning Game Mania, I find it silly that they only get 1 CE per store. Karuro 00:56, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- I guess I got lucky. I started checking last week. Game Mania NL had a page up for both SE and CE. But the CE noted it was already sold out. I went to bol.com, found it there and purchased it there. Half a day later that page was gone, as were the GM pages. Saturday I received a package with a DVD case containing my pre-purchase code and instructions and an accompanying letter from bol explaining what the pre-purchase does and what advantages it gives to me (as if I didn't know ;) ) and that I'll receive the CE on the release date and what goodies I'll get with that. All I have to do is wait until tomorrow to register my code. As of right now, I can't find a new page at bol.com. Maybe I ordered from the page mentioned by Karuro as I ordered it on the 4th (and it was again gone later that day or the next day).--Fogeltje 20:26, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Zavvi CE (Confirmed)[edit]
according to this list only zavvi will stock the CE in the uk, however i received an email from zavvi today which states..
Hi Martin, Thanks for your message. I'm really sorry but we are only planning to stock the Standard Edition of Guild Wars 2 at this time. Thanks again for getting in touch and thank you for your patience. If there is anything else I can help with, please let me know. Kind regards, Gareth.
HELP! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Prepurchasefan (talk).
- I got the same reply. I asked zavvi to contact anet/ncsoft to have their "CE" tag removed from the list. Seems like we might not get any access to the CE here in the UK which would be a shame, especially considering that this was the country formerly containing the centre of operations in europe for ncsoft. I really hope that other arrangements for the CE in the UK are going to be revealed asap. 84.13.108.127 08:41, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Question about Israel CE - pre-purchase:[edit]
theres only 1 shop on the list, and I called that Retailer Freak and they said they wont be selling the Collectors edition as pre-purchase but as standalone edition only... means I wont be able to get a collectors edition with entrances to betas ? so I can only choose between regular edition so I get into beta,or collectors edition but I wont get into beta ? if thats so I will be very sad... I playing gw for 6.5 years already... and this would be very sad for me not to have collectors edition and have access to the beta.. please help ! ~ SeRg. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.179.21.192 (talk).
Not to Mention that they offer the CE as pre-order only for 220 US$. Which they say is the retail price NC importer in Israel set for them... so there is no way for us to Purchase CE there and get the Beta Keys. and the Standard Pre Purchase is the Only Option. Sadly Such Prices of the CE in Israel are a rip off. and since its not even offered as Pre Purchase, in the end we will not Purchase it at all. it's a Loss for Ncsoft. (i would be happily buying the CE, but thanks to this situation i will not buy at Freak but pre purchase the DDE.
i hope someone at Arenanet/Ncsoft wakes up and deals with such outrageous pricing attempts. ~ BOROVIT --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.109.171.244 (talk).
- I hope so as well,I completely agree with you BOROVIT,I wanted to order the collectors but the price so high so even not get beta access for that ? if NC Soft will add pre-purshe to both edition so will be able to get the physical edition with Pre-Purchase because we live in israel ? in that way theb est way is only to order from NC soft a digital copy.. much cheaper and u get pre purshe acess ? cant they really change it so we will be able to Pre Purchase the physical edition be it standard and collectors ? hope someone can answer on that question. ~SeRg --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.181.136.91 (talk).
Retailer that ships Preorder CE boxes?[edit]
The issue is that ANet seem to give no love to Russia (actually none gives us any love), but that's where I happen to live :( As the list suggests, there will be no official Russian retailers, and i don't speak all these weird post-soviet languages of eastern Europe, so could anyone please suggest a retailer from the list who will be able to ship the prepurchase code and in the end the box to a Russian adress? Thank you in advance, xx --84.17.23.100 14:47, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Russia is a bit of an oddball, I'm not aware of any large video game retail chain in there, so that may be the obstacle: there isn't a reliable company to partner with. There's a chance they still might add someone, but I wouldn't hold my breath. It also depends how far you are from Moscow/Peter, where they might get some copies imported after release, but then you miss the pre-purchase bonus. 174.22.137.79 15:28, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Well I'm from St.Pete so theres nothing wrong on my side. And GW1 was actually sold in Russia through 1C[3], which is the largest central legal CD/DVD store for all multimedia, so i was hoping they could work with these guys once again. But as it's already 4th of April, it appears that these no chance i could preorder CE box and get all the bonuses for doing this :S --95.140.92.6 11:04, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
- No changes for Moscow so far. So I cured my dreaming about "Art Portfolio and Five Art Prints" and "112 page Making of Guild Wars 2 book" with digital standard pre-purchase. It seems 55euro pre-purchase is our (all countries without CE retailers) only choice.--193.105.40.18 09:47, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Question: CE pre-purchase retailers vs. other CE retailers[edit]
Hi. I have a question regarding the availability of CE in general; Mike O'Brien's post on Reddit clarifies a lot about the pre-purchase. I know GameStop is currently the only authorized CE pre-purchase retailer in the US. However, it is also taking pre-orders for the CE on its website, pre-orders that are unrelated to the pre-purchase and its benefits. No other US retailer is currently taking pre-orders for the CE. Does that mean that somehow GameStop has secured the entire allocation of CE for the US, and it will be the only place to get CE (pre-purchase, pre-order, normal purchase, or otherwise)? Thank you for any information you could provide. Satan's Chosen 13:37, 8 April 2012 (UTC)
EB Games in Canada sold out of CEs[edit]
Hi there, Stephane. I called around to all the EB Games stores here in Vancouver, Canada today, and apparently they've received a memo that they have allocated all their CEs of Guild Wars 2 and are to stop taking orders. This seems odd and unfair, as some of us were waiting until the official day to pre-purchase on April 10. I actually called a few days ago, and no one even knew anything about the pre-purchase and to call back in a few days, only to find out that I may no longer be able to get one anywhere. Is there any information or solution you are able to offer to me or others in this situation? I'd really like to get a CE, so anything will help at this point. Thanks a lot!
--★KOKUOU★ 02:09, 5 April 2012 (UTC)
I have the same story here in Montreal on the east cost. Look like EB Games are unable to provide the buyer the proper service we deserve. Please what is the proper way to get the CE in Canada? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 209.172.32.36 (talk).

- Hi again, Stephane. I see that NCIX.com is listing the CE pre-purchase package. Can you confirm them as a retailer? --★KOKUOU★ 03:30, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Same here in the far west out by Calgary and Edmonton. Though the shipping kicks your butt. . . you can go to Gamestop.com (The USA site) and order there. I haven't gotten my beta key yet, but I asked in the Contact section via email for it. They have a section about missing beta keys, so I am fairly confident it will get resolved. It's a shame that in getting the CE we have to give our money to EB anyways. . . who seemed to have broken the rules. 96.52.106.249 16:54, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Same issue at 3 EB Games stores out here too. (Near Vancouver) They had allowed pre-orders and so today they have no CE available. One store only got 8 CE versions allotted to them. One store told me this morning that they had a problem with the CE SKU and should be able to sell them tomorrow. However, just got off the phone with one of the other stores and they said that sorry they have received an e-mail to stop selling CE since they are sold out. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 50.92.140.52 (talk).

Retailers for Portugal[edit]
It says that you can buy the pre-purchase from FNAC in Portugal, i had call them and talk with some employers and 2 supervisors from fnac, and they said they didnt even know what Guild Wars 2 is, one of the supervisors told me that maybe there will be a pre-order for 5 euros, but they even didnt know that. I just wanted to know if all the retailers from all the countrys that are listed had been oficial confirmed with arena net.. 89.154.58.102 23:12, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
- Today (April 9th) i went to FNAC to ask them about it, and they didn't know a single thing... how is it possible?
- In the day before, not knowing anything about the subject? I'd like to know more about this, since they cannot
- inform us whatsoever, they just look like they are totally ignorant about it... (They knew what Guild Wars 2 was
- at least, but when asked about information relatively to pre-purchase they just answered "Pay attention to the
- website" and i was like this "WTF? Noone in any FNAC can tell me anything about this? You've gotta be kidding me!") --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.154.21.201 (talk).
- It looks like FNAC hasn't received the merchandise or something, since they do not have GW2 on their system yet,
- at least that's what I, and more person were told about them when we asked, and to pay attention to their website.
- I hope it does not take long for them to have it, don't know if it was a delay of some kind from ArenaNet or from the
- transportation team(s). There is hope that it'll be delivered to FNAC in this week, if not... Just have to wait a little more! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.154.21.201 (talk).

Ok, i found http://www.wehkamp.nl/games-films-muziek/pc-games/games/guild-wars-2-(pre-purchase-edition)/C25_5E7_E28_293328/ This. Is it a real pre purchase or are they just renaming the pre order to pre purchase to get people to buy? DBZVelena | (Talk page) 19:04, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Pre-purchase CE box[edit]
I am from Canada, I have pre-order from EB before. but they always bad at give them out, and saying they never got anything for the pre-order and different the EB website. so do we all get the pre-purchase box for CE, if EB game don't give it to us? John --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.212.151.241 (talk).
- A pre-order is different from a pre-purchse. The pre-purchase doesn't start until April 10, so if you purchased your item(s) before that date, your agreement is with EB for the products. I'm not entirely sure I understand the remainder of your question. Vous pouvez demander en français, si cela est votre langue maternelle. Venom20 18:24, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
CE pre-purchase only available in store or online too?[edit]
Is the CE Pre-Purchase only available in-store or can I order online? The closest Gamestop and Bestbuy are over an hour away from me. (I’m not looking for a Pre-Order.) Also, is there a Pre-purchase box like with FA NF and EotN or just a code on my receipt? And if possible can anyone tell me how many CE’s there's going to be? I also live in canada, iv talked with the guys. Even if you pay it out in full before the pre-purchase date, they apparently consider it a pre-purchase not a pre-order. To them pre-order is a deposit payment not full payment. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 108.173.40.119 (talk).
(Austria) Where to get the CE?[edit]
Neither of the two (gameware, gamesonly) is marked as having the CE. I have seen that gameware has the CE and even seems to offer the pre-purchase version. But there is no way to buy it, and they even indicate that it is already sold out (this might be a mis-information, as it's that way for at least a week now). GameStop US stores don't all have the CE boxes yet[edit]
So, I called around and finally went into a store to finally get a real answer, which is basically that the GameStops near me didn't actually receive their boxes yet. So I have pre-ordered and made it clear I want a call when the boxes arrive so I can get my CE box... but I wish that this was smoother and I didn't have to play phone tag to a bunch of stores and then place my faith in random people to do the right thing and call me... --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.117.27.227 (talk).
- Careful there. I went into Gamestop and was told the same thing, but that I could still get my pre-purchase code printed out on my receipt if I paid full price. I did so, registered my code, and I'm all set. You may want to do the same thing before they "sell" all the prepurchase boxes that they don't actually have. --140.211.43.65 22:48, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Dutch stores and their CE[edit]
And now I just found out that the Dutch retailers have sold their collectors edition before time, not only that but I found out that Gamemania had only ONE collectors edition per store. There is NO WAY for ANYONE to get the collectors edition if they waited to the appointed date; this is pure rip. Isn't there anything to be done for this because this is just super lame...--SchuKadaj 16:51, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- I was going to go order mine tomorrow :/... Really sucks, but I expect ArenaNet will stand up against this. They were selling before the allowed date and they quite clearly state on their website: "Deze versie is heel beperkt beschikbaar en reeds gereserveerd voor de klanten die als eerste de gewone versie van Guild Wars 2 reserveerden." - translated this means: "This version is strictly limited and has been reserved for the first customers who reserved/pre-ordered the regular version of Guild Wars 2." Basicly a big breach of the prepurchase on Game Mania's behalf... they're only allowed to start prepurchase/preorder today. Going to go to the game mania tomorrow. If it's really like this, I'm going to confirm here. Like I said before, I really expect ANet to step up against this! - I'm willing to spend €150 on a game, I'd like to be treated like a costumer who acts according to ANet's rules and not someone who preordered the game ages ago while it wasn't allowed by ANet... --Vampiretrix 18:17, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- Technically, they didn't let you pre-purchase before today. You could pre-order the pre-purchase, by paying the normal 20€ CE pre-order fee and paying the rest when you come get it. While I can understand that this sucks if you weren't in time, a store giving a pre-order option for a game that is coming up, even if that is a pre-purchase, is really not that strange. Almost every game is pre-orderable at Gamemania, and almost every game that comes out these days can be bought before the release date in a lot of shops worldwide. Knowing this, I didn't want to take any chances, so I went to Gamemania to ask them about it, which coincidentally was on the first pre-order day. Of course I pre-ordered, but even if there hadn't been a pre-order, I was there today when they opened, so I would have had it anyway. So while I agree that one pre-purchase per shop is way too little, it was to be expected that there would be a way to get it earlier and asking information from the store beforehand is only logical if you really want to buy something like this. --Tosti 21:14, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- That's what's flipping me off mostly Tosti: I went there last week and they said it wasn't possible to pre-order it. Seems they lied :) --Vampiretrix 05:33, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- And Bol just screwed over everyone who ordered from the very first CE page - we're all getting cancellation emails. The heck is this? We order first, get promises that the PP will be delivered (date kept being delayed) and then this.. Meanwhile, people who ordered a few days after us DID receive their prepurchase copies! Worst. Prepurchase experience. Ever! Karuro 17:00, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Further down you can also see the link to the latest official forum post on Best Buy, courtesy of Sardaukar. The current situation seems to be physical pre-orders will be available but the date may change; the regular physical edition has been removed from bestbuy.com, and there is uncertainty surrounding when that and the CE will be available for pre-order. Digital pre-purchase is said to become available as early as today, but it's not up at the time of this writing.
The ordering process from GameStop, even online, appears to be worked out. The pages for both the regular edition and CE have clear instructions on how you can get in the pre-purchase and what you will receive. It's a little hard to tell whether the regular edition from gamestop.com is digital or physical, but it does say "Eligible for PickUp@Store." Ironically the CE does not. - Best Buy is participating in the pre-purchase program, and will have copies soon. Forum poster was misinformed. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:22, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
Standard Edition in Europe[edit]
So I just bought that standard edition for £40. Play.com is out of stock apparently, yet I think they have billed my debit card which is a bit off to say the least. Then they say it will take up to two weeks to deliver. Firstly when I do get the box, am I set, or will I have to go back and buy/collect other bits once the game is live?
Secondly, If I miss several of the Beta events due to Play.com not telling me the product was out of stock till I bought it, am I entitled to a partial refund? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Jumblehunter (talk).

Sorry about forgetting the sign, thats my bad. And I rewrote because I was thinking about gamestop so wrote gamestop instead of play.com and didn't want to bring bad publicity to a website thats done me no wrong. Sorry about that.
Okay scratch what I said before and deleted, or ignore if you didn't read ( could someone please be a good person and tell me slightly more concisely how to scratch stuff out.) Sorry about the irrelevant posts, and general noobism on the editing front. Not a good editing week for me :( Jumblehunter 21:21, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Komplett.se[edit]
Hi, I don't know if you know about this, but Komplett.se in Sweden offers the same prepurchase deal as Komplett.no. Komplett is based in Norway, but has a localized store in Sweden. You could probably add Komplett.se to the list of Swedish retailers. 80.212.149.189 13:06, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- I was just about to write this as well. :) Only difference is that (as far as I can see) komplett.se only offeres the standard editions (pre-purchase and pre-order), whereas komplett.no also has the CE (or had, all sold out now :P). --Lensor (talk) 13:41, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
Will I get the game on releae if I pre-purchase now?[edit]
Sorry If you've seen this question numerous times above, but, when I pre purchase gw2 within the next few days, how will i receive the game when it comes out? Fabian 14:46, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- you'll be sent a code (if digital) or the box containing the code (no disc) in a week, then you'll be able to set everything up, and wait for Beta events + Release. --The Holy Dragons 14:57, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me!! Thanks so much!! -Fabian 15:01, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- so from amazon, it says "This item has not yet been released.
- You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives.
- Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk. Gift-wrap available." - does that mean that amazon still dont know the difference between pre purchase and pre order? or will i be sent the box/key? Getefix 20:36, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- Amazon US says something similar. The best way is to ask a rep. I wouldn't trust a pre-order to have pre-purchase benefits. The pre-purchase for TERA digital edition specifically says pre-purchase with exact benefits listed. Satan's Chosen 01:45, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

No Croatian Pre-purchase[edit]
Hi - just an update that Algoritam in Croatia does not know what a pre-purchase is and only has the pre-order box. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 93.136.114.206 (talk).
- Actualy Algoritam sold all pre-purchase boxes and pre-orders are what's left.SirCag () 12:19, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Hello, you aren't supporting Croatia with a pre-purchase? I tried pre-purchasing with my PayPal and when I set my country to Croatia, type my e-mail adress for my PayPal this is what I get "There was an error with your request. Please check your information and try again." But when I select, say Austria or Armenia, with the same e-mail, I get to the next step of buying... So tell me, do you support Croatia for a pre-purchase or not? Since you have it listed there... Or can I just select a random country from my region that works? razzi 23:38, 11 April 2012 (UTC) Razzi
- Please contact support at this site http://support.guildwars2.com and provide them with all the details of your purchase. Thanks. --Stephane Lo Presti talk 00:04, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
Purchased from EB games, codes from ArenaNet?[edit]
I am from Canada, so i paid for my pre-purchase for CE on the 10th, and EB game said they dont have any pre-purchase boxes and asked to come back later. so is there a way for anet to email my code? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.212.151.241 (talk).
- If you're purchased from EB Games, then you will have to get your codes from them. They won't be able to give you the code directly. --zeeZ (talk) 22:24, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
- hi, i pre-ordered CE from EB Games in New Zealand, and didnt get code either. and just wondering what exactly is the difference between pre-order and pre-purchase? Eculiny 05:44, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm also from Canada, they (EB Games) keep saying they are having issues getting it from the distributor who is working with the supplier to get these, Honestly is Anet behind on shipping or is EB jerkin us around?? If we get jerked around will ANet take action to fix this issue or reprimand EB in some way. I can't see them being listed as retailer for this stuff and not actually getting it. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 108.173.40.119 (talk).
- Eculiny, go here and read the questions What is Pre-Purchase? and the next question What if I don't want to pay in full in advance?. Those should answer your question. 17:45, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
EB staff explained this to me as Pre-Purchase was a full payment, while Pre-Order was a partial payment reserving a copy. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 108.173.40.119 (talk).
Amazon offering pre-order, but not (yet) pre-purchase[edit]
You are probably aware that Amazon isn't yet offering a method for paying for pre-purchase (the only option I have is to pre-order, the notes for which are consistent: 1-day Head Start, low-price guarantee, account is not charged until item shipped). I assume that ANet/NCSoft and Amazon are busy fixing things, but I couldn't find any information about this in the official FAQ linked from the buy site.
I apologize for posting here, but I don't have logon credentials for the GW2 forums. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 16:12, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- is this for the uk? i pre purchased my guild wars 2 from there (although no code yet(is this a problem?)) look here here the bonus stuff is near the bottom Getefix 18:09, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Amazon US. There's no equivalent product available on the US site. (searching for
Guild Wars 2: Pre-Purchase - Standard Edition
yields no results; searching forGuild Wars 2
shows only the pre-order as an option, even after adding it to one's cart.)
- Amazon US. There's no equivalent product available on the US site. (searching for
- (@Getefix: I believe the FAQ from the buy site (link above) answers your question about how/when to register your pre-purchase and how/when you should expect to receive the code.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 18:39, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- it doesnt answer my question :/ i think i'll wait a few days and see what happens, the beta test isnt till the end of april anyway :D thanks for the help though Getefix 19:32, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
No retail box for European pre-purchase[edit]
So, what is the reason we do not get a real retail box? In Europe we pay 50 euro, which is about 65 dollars for the pre-purchase of GW2. This is 15 dollars more. They get the retail box, yet we do not even get something as simple as a cd at launch? What is this for nonsense? Why do a physical retail box and pre-purchase bonuses have to be mutually exclusive? Why will we be forced into inconvinience at the head-start / release by having to wait for a highly demanded download? I'm not even going to mention all the people that still have limits on their data usage, me luckily excluded. I paid 15 dollars more than the US customers and I wish to receive the proper game box for my collection like them, not just a slip of paper! I pay more and get less, this is unacceptable and to me as a customer even offensive. 195.241.181.118 12:10, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
