Dwayna and sorrow[edit]

Not questioning you, but I am curious where that bit came from? Konig/talk 19:35, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Poor man's answer--Relyk ~ talk > 20:22, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
That's like a saying Mary is tied to sorrow because she wept when he son died. I hope Mediggo's answer is better. Konig/talk 20:33, 26 January 2013 (UTC)
Scriptures of Dwayna and many other game sources which potray her as "sad god" like Dwayna's Sorrow or Dwayna's Tear. She is depicted or mentioned weeping in quest description, dialogue or otherwise more often than I remember. It just always felt obvious to me and I thought it probably wouldn't hurt to expand the article a bit. Just google "dwayna weep" or something, you'll get plenty of results. :P If that's not good enough for you, remove or edit it as you see fit. Mediggo 10:01, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Sounds more like she's just an overly carrying goddess who cries easy (or maybe just emo?), not that she's associated with sorrow. Being sorrowful != associated with sorrow. Konig/talk 21:01, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
She cares for all, even non-humans, and feels sadness over loss of the smallest of things. If Lyssa is the patron of beauty and relief and Grenth the judge who embraces life (and death) as it truly is, then I think mourning and sadness belongs to Dwayna's sphere. We're talking about gods here, after all. Dwayna's sorrow is a large part of her persona (as we know it), and thus it plays a large part in her dealings as a god (Doric). Mediggo 06:11, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Eh, Grenth is and always was sorrow. As half-god, he was the Prince of Ice and Sorrow, representing judgment and mortality. As god, he's the god of death, ice, darkness, and to Orrians, also the god of judgment and sorrow - and patron of strict ethics to Orrians. I wouldn't really say Grenth embraces life and death for what it truly is, but rather that, as Malchor puts it, preaches that all things come to an end. Konig/talk 07:03, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Well put, I think your version of the article is more clear on the matter. I still think there was a line of dialogue with something like "Dwayna in your sorrow" or similiar. If I find it, I'll get back on the subject, but so far it's all right. Mediggo 09:42, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Dwayna is my favorite amongst the human gods and I really dislike Lyssa, the mistress of illusions and lies. Dwayna holds the most moving values as I see it. She is a Goddess who protects and forgives. She should be the one that heals. That's the most natural. Dwayna is associated with the element of air, but an Elementalist who chooses to play the role as healer must be attuned to water. I don't like the similarity to Holy water used within the Christian Church. Others must agree upon this or come up with some sort of explanation of why water was chosen as the element of healing. The terror from heartless cruelty, destruction and blood left scars on Dwayna's face. Dwayna bleeds tears, and in her weakness and frustration she acts wildly and upset towards all evil and mad hate... I think she is a Goddess with doubt about life but she has a strong and touching wisdom which only barbarians laugh at and the ignorant despise. In her own divine right she can cry out loudly with a certain rage - Dwayna fights evil with "Holy anger" and tears of broken hearts. --ICBM (talk) 00:24, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
We just know too little about human gods, and much is open to interpretation. But when it comes to water magic, some kind of "healing wind" of Dwayna would only make sense for humans, not any other race. Also, Biography#Elementalist. Mediggo (talk) 08:43, 1 November 2013 (UTC)

Field of View[edit]

Not relevant as a page on it's own? My pro argument (sic!) (reasons to create it in the first place) at Talk:Field_of_View. Skalleper (talk) 06:34, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

I see, thanks for noticing me. :) Personally, I did not even know there was a command line argument to apply wider FoV, and because I had a lengthy break from GW2 from october to january, I did not notice any different between new and old FoV. I pay attention that FoV much more in first person games, and I'd appreciate better camera controls in third person game instead. Mediggo (talk) 06:50, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

featured article testing[edit]

[[Main Page/featured article/next]]--Relyk ~ talk < 11:35, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

So is there a way to see how that looks on the main page? Mediggo (talk) 11:51, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
easily, by copying the code for the main page to somewhere else and replacing the text {{Main Page/featured}} with the page title on which you're doing the testing. -138.38.60.22 12:16, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
Too much effort compared to just editing the real thing and reverting myself. Mediggo (talk) 12:42, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
well one affects the main page on the wiki, and the other doesn't. (it should be obvious which one should be done) -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 15:19, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
Only thing that was affected was addition of a few more revisions to article history which I clearly identified as testing edits in the edit summaries. I don't see what the fuss is. Mediggo (talk) 15:44, 29 May 2013 (UTC)
Edits to high-visibility pages and templates make people nervous--Relyk ~ talk < 20:31, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

pbaoe attacks[edit]

I think it's a property of any whirl attack, so they just give it a range.--Relyk ~ talk < 07:22, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

At least Whirling Defense doesn't, though skills which leave characters stationary vs. those which "propel" to one direction like Whirlwind Attack vs. forms like Tornado are all different. Charge has range while Call to Arms has radius... it just seems wildly inconsistent to me. :P Mediggo (talk) 07:30, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
