Heya Kvothe,
- pick an {{Archive-box}}
- what are the choices?
- The three boxes at the top right of the page linking to the older versions of the game credits - these only serve as examples. We can make it look how you want, see {{Archive-box}}
- what are the choices?
- keep red links to incentivise dev page creation?
- I'd rather not. Rationale: it makes this page look better, and does not invite editors to start looking for information about all employees for safety and privacy reasons.
- which dash to use? - or – or —
- I'll ask our Editing Team
- section indentation review
- Will do
- section headings with or without "Department" examples: Art Department, Design Department vs. Audio, Cinematics
- Is that a question?
- Kvothe: Yes. Was wondering if there is a reason for one over the other. Added examples.
- Is that a question?
- use of "Lead" in front of name e.g. Lead - David Severs - Senior Designer convert to David Severs - Senior Designer (Lead) or David Severs - Lead Senior Designer?
- That change makes sense (both ways) and I'll ask about it.
- Bobby Brader, Orchestration \n Bobby Rose - split to Orchestration \n Bobby Brader (like in-game credits)
- If you saw it confirmed in-game, there should be no problem.
- Steve Pardo, Arrangement \n And alto flute to Steve Pardo - Arrangement and Alto Flute
- Granted.
- Matthew Pugnetti / Taylor Southerland / Trevor Bennet / Indigo Boock / Ali Buntemeyer / Jean Marie Scheid
- I'll double-check these four names.
- multiple positions or spoken characters separeated by "/" or " / " with or without space
- Are you asking to ADD spaces around the slash characters?
- Kvothe: Yes. Should we add or remove the spaces around the slash characters? Currently it is e.g. "3D Modeling/ Animation"
- Are you asking to ADD spaces around the slash characters?
- look at wiki comments (search for <!-- in code)
- Ok I'll look at all of those.
- add {{ArenaNet article}}?
- Good with me.
Let me know if there's anything else! Thanks --Stephane Lo Presti talk 23:12, 8 August 2022 (UTC)
- So.. uh.. i just found this talk page exists now. Unaware of the comments here i've since edited the page, which i hope didn't cause trouble with the section indentation double checking; or anything else. In case it did; i'm sorry. Guess i'll simply stop editing this page now then? (My understanding was we'd let you know once we're done with the page for you to check.) Nightsky (talk) 18:02, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for going through this thoroughly and bringing up more relevant points. ArenaNet wants to keep this formatting and the other articles will follow suit. We are aware this is not located on the dev wiki as it was decided to be fine on a sandbox page (so others can see). I already gave this to review, that is why we have this talk page comment. Since you only added what is already in the in-game credits, I hope this will not be that big an issue to review further. Do you intend to further look at remaining deviations (per edit summary)? —Kvothe (talk) 13:11, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, i see. The dev wiki comment of mine was because of you adding "dev" in this edit, which had me confused at first because it reminded me of the development wiki, before thinking of developer. As for only adding what's already in the in game credits, i'm not so sure the entries taken from game credits that don't appear in the in game credits as far as i can tell fall under this definition. And with my edit summary i neither meant to imply that i'd edit it further nor exclude doing such; only that i did not do the thouroughest comparison that i could have possibly done; so i won't give any guarantees for it to be error free now, though i tryed to make it so. Having found this i'll refrain from editing any further now untill receaving notice (or taking note of that it's fine again) to do otherwise. Nightsky (talk) 18:04, 12 August 2022 (UTC)
- And with regards to the TOC point. It would also be possible to include one of either {{TOC}} or {{TOCright}} and use their
class
parameter with an appropriate CSS class as value to keep the desiered amount of levels while hiding the deeper ones from the TOC and allowing for the headings to remain on the page. Nightsky (talk) 15:49, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
- And with regards to the TOC point. It would also be possible to include one of either {{TOC}} or {{TOCright}} and use their
(Reset indent) Here are the answers to the questions that were left:
- which dash to use? - or – or —
- They should be em dashes (—).
- section headings with or without "Department" examples: Art Department, Design Department vs. Audio, Cinematics
- No particular reason so we can keep it consistent and add Department everywhere
- use of "Lead" in front of name e.g. Lead - David Severs - Senior Designer convert to David Severs - Senior Designer (Lead) or David Severs - Lead Senior Designer?
- Yep we can do it
- Matthew Pugnetti / Taylor Southerland / Trevor Bennet / Indigo Boock / Ali Buntemeyer / Jean Marie Scheid
- I was not able to get that information except for two: Indigo who would love it if she could be listed as "Linde" (including in her article); and Ali would prefer the short first name. For the others we can stick to what the current wiki articles say to be consistent.
- multiple positions or spoken characters separeated by "/" or " / " with or without space
- There should only be a space around the "/" if one or both of the elements being separated have an modifier that only applies to that element. So, you could have "Acoustic/Electric Bass Guitar", but you would want "Writer / Narrative Designer".
- Lead in the Design Department
- You can rewrite them to be consistent with the convention used in the other parts of the credits.
Let me know if I missed some questions or new ones showed up! Once you've got this page in a shape you're happy with, let me know and I'll do the final review then move it to the Credits article. Thank you! --Stephane Lo Presti talk 16:40, 19 August 2022 (UTC)
- There are a few more things that were added. (And at least i never saw the one thing confirmed in the in game credits. (Though i guess maybe the file on the wiki is outdated and the credits've been updated in game since the time the screenshots were taken?))
- I've updated the page in accordance with your responses above and removed most of what you've answered (All that i could tell that has been/was done.) from the notes at the top.
- As such, aside from whether it should be "/" or " / " and the "Lead <Title>" vs. "<Title> (Lead)", everything in the note at the top of the page (This includes most of the comments in the wikicode.) could still use a look.
- Additionally, there exist some pages that are redirects from few of the names found in the credits to where they are found in the credits. Any thoughts on what to do with those?
- Also, i don't know if Kvothe's working on this still. So maybe Kvothe will have something more to add as well. In the meantime, the above is all that i could think of for the moment. Nightsky (talk) 19:13, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
