Can anyone help me? I seem to have done something wrong, not sure what. My Navbar works great, the pages come up, swap out fine, but the nav, search, support, and toolbox windows in the left border are dropped below my pages, instead of beside them.--Enda 03:35, 26 August 2011 (UTC)

By deleting <div style="width:100%; border: 2px solid #afafc3;;moz-border-radius:.5em; background-color:Silver;padding:1px;margin:none; position:absolute;"> and the corresponding </div> will do. Also, welcome to GW2W! :-) User:Glastium Glastium | talk 03:57, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch! That fixed it! And thank you for the Welcome!--Enda 04:04, 26 August 2011 (UTC)
After a little more trial and error, I discovered that I'd left "|} " out at the end of the page, which allowed me to have the two windows on the Race-colored background, as I had originally intended.--Enda 21:09, 27 August 2011 (UTC)

Minor request[edit]

Hello! I was wondering if you could make your signature link to either your user page or your talk page, for navigational purposes. :) - Infinite - talk 20:43, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

How did you..? User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 20:47, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

signature[edit]

Hi!

Your signature should contain...

  • A link to your user page
  • A link to your talk page
  • A link to your Facebook with embarrassing photos viewable by all

...one of the first two. Please fix.

Feel free to ask if you need help. Cheers. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 20:46, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Fixed!--Enda - talk 23:29, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks much :) User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 09:12, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
Your signature should also resemble your username in someway. Aqua (T|C) 04:00, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, but it did give me a chance to add an icon, of sorts--Caithe 02 concept art.jpg Enda - talk 14:19, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
Not wanting to add to the signature annoyance, however; images in your signature may not exceed 19px in height. - Infinite - talk 15:26, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
And you should reupload any image you wish to use in your signature as something like "File:User Enda sig.<ext>" or something like that. Aqua (T|C) 18:08, 18 September 2011 (UTC)
That <ext> being a .png or .jpg ofcourse. --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 18:49, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Revamp effect[edit]

Hey there--for at least one of the concerns, yes, the changing to the text spacing increased the amount of space taken up by text. Just change up your fixed height settings in your setup (I tried changing your 380 to 500 and the preview looked fine) and that should at least get things back in the right direction. Hope this helps. Redshift 05:05, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

While your fix will return everything to within the page's window, it does nothing to address the line spacing. (Which I find unacceptable.) Since the main page seems unaffected, I plan to experiment with it after the next beta, if I get the time. (working 10hr swing shifts makes it difficult)--Enda - talk 14:58, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
May I be so bold in asking why you have a fixed height on your user page in the first place? It'd probably look a lot better if you allowed the height to wrap around the content. As for the line spacing, can you point out what exactly is unacceptable, as to help us figure out what can be addressed? - Infinite - talk 15:04, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Right, I realized that when I woke up this morning, sorry! That would be something left to Alfarchitect or those more coding/css inclined than I, though I would be curious as to the answer as well. Redshift 15:20, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
Talk:Main Page/editcopy is the place to go if you have objections to the new site design (and yes, line spacing was an aspect of this). pling User Pling sig.png 16:49, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
I placed a note there and on the bug report page. As to Infinte's comments, I'm a neat freak, and I like my pages as identical, neat, and as orderly as possible. The double blank lines throughout my pages, now, is annoying, to me. (They were nice and neat until the new main page/wiki set up.)--Enda - talk 16:55, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

bullet lists
The reason leading was adjusted is that it defines text structure much better and improves text readability. Let's take a look at how discussion pages look like now (top of the image to the left) and how they looked before (bottom part). You can notice that leading was a total mess: line height (from baseline to baseline) between 1st paragraph and list is 26px; between list and the 2nd paragraph — 25px; between Indigo and Darke comments — 22px; between Darke's comment and the next one — 26 px again. On pages with dialogs (like Marten_Bollinger) leading was shifting form 22px to 26px quite often, and it was a real strain for eyes. I've unified all margins and increased them to be the same size as letter height, that's why your page content doesn't fit into box anymore. On the other hand, this additional spacing us quite redundant in case of enclosed bullet/numbered lists, where structuring job is done by markers (though some ppl still add spacing in cases like that, ANet's forum has it this way for example). I'll make an adjustment to remove additional leading in this special case (see 2nd picture, what it will look like is to the right). It will return your pages to normal, except for the left panel on your main page. The reason is that it uses sequential lists (bullet list is followed by definition list, then one more bullet list and a def list in the end), rather then enclosed one. This kind of object placement should retain its margins. Alfa-R User Alfa-R sig.png 18:34, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
I kinda figured that the change was for readability. That's never been a problem for me as I have trifocals, and a 1080p 18.3" laptop. ;p As to my main page, I can easily switch it over. Oh, and, Thanx! I really appreciate the help! --Enda - talk 04:14, 6 June 2012 (UTC)

Userpage on Chrome and Firefox[edit]

The text on your userpage is rolling off the bottom of the cell on when I look at it with firefox or chrome. I think if you remove "height:390px;" in the second <div></div>, it should work better. —CrazyRabidSquirrel 05:02, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Not sure why it's doing that, it looks fine in IE9. I tested your suggestion, and the right side ends up in a smaller box than the left on the race pages, but larger on the main page. Which is unacceptable, to me. Except for the "101" pages, all of the other pages are identical in size and shape. I think that the problem on the main page, if that's where you're talking about, is caused by the Hall of Monuments chart. The Wiki has changed the configuration of pages several times since I created the page, the line command is random as all heck, works on some pages and doesn't on others. As I don't have Chrome or Firefox, it's impossible for me to keep the pages looking right for everyone. So, I've got it set up for IE9. --Enda - talk 23:08, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
Its a monitor width issue. CRS clearly has a small square monitor, while everyone with wider screens can see your page just fine :P But as its your userpage, so as long as you like it, its legit ^^ --Chieftain Alex 23:36, 15 November 2012 (UTC)
I completely forgot about monitor width. When I made the switch I had to completely rework my pages to get them to look right. As I reference my pages several times a day, and I refer folks to my "101" pages, I try to keep it up to date, and pleasing to view. Thanks for the info. --Enda - talk 00:22, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
If I zoom out to like 67% it all fits in the boxes. But removing both the height parameters should allow the size of the boxes to float regardless of monitor size or zoom ratio. I figure trial and error is the best method. I hope you can figure it out, but every time I visit your page I'll make sure to zoom out to 67% ;) —CrazyRabidSquirrel 22:00, 4 December 2012 (UTC)

There is another possible cause... Text Sizing. While sitting here thinking about something on my user page I accidentaly resized it an noticed the aformentioned problem when the text size gets to large. --Enda - talk 21:21, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, accidental scrolling with the ctrl key happens to me all the time :P --Chieftain Alex 21:34, 3 December 2012 (UTC)

Hey[edit]

Could you contact me in game and perhaps give me a hand with my user page & signature? Brakkis 18:59, 19 November 2012 (UTC)

I'd be more than happy to contact you ingame, however, I'm no expert at doing user pages. Like you, I contacted someone who had a User page similar to what I have now. I asked their permission to copy it, and they gave it. I made a few simple changes, but that's it. If you want to copy what I have, no problem. If you need help copying it, I can help you with that. --Enda - talk 04:07, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Just checked out your user page. I might mention that they frown on screenshots of your characters. Well, they did on the GW1 wiki, and made me delete them. --Enda - talk 04:26, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
We only frown on images if they've been badly named outside the userspace :p
Images should be named like File:User <username goes here> <descriptive name>.<suffix, e.g. .png or .jpg>, and should then be tagged with {{ArenaNet image|screenshot}} and {{user image|<username goes here}}. (so an example image name would be "File:User Chieftain Alex Amazingscreenshot.jpg") --Chieftain Alex 18:55, 20 November 2012 (UTC)
Thanks --Enda - talk 18:57, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Changes to My User Page[edit]

As is obvious, I reused all of my previous pages/images... The original pages were set up prior to the release of GW2. At first, I considered basing them on the professions, but decided that race base was more flexible. When I returned after a 4 year hiatus, I tried different races/professions and realized that the names were the only thing that was consistent. I reused the original pages and screenshots for two reasons; I didn't want to lose any of the old data, and I may decide to revert to a race based user page.--Enda - talk 02:47, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

After trying all of the professions, I discovered that the only ones I can play now are the Ranger, Necromancer, and the Engineer. As I'm not all that crazy about the stationary status of the Engineer's assistance, I decided that the Ranger and Necromancer are the only ones I really enjoy playing. This led me to the conclusion that my old race based user page was better than the name based one, so I reverted, sorta... I removed the outdated 101 pages.--Enda - talk 03:15, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
Started over... Decided that I don't really like any of the races other than the Asura. I also noted in my travels that every profession seems to be well represented in PvE, so I decided that since I have eight slots, I should play eight professions... As Tara Pard is the last character I created during the 3-hour early start to the head start weekend before the actual release of the game, I have to keep her. Since I love the Ranger, I created an Asura Ranger too. I've played the Mesmer and Guardian before, and I'm not that crazy about them, so I've created one of all the others. Only time will tell how I do.--Enda - talk 04:43, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
As is evident, I eventually added a couple of new slots, and made a character in every profession. I then got into doing World Bosses, and noticed that the Warriors did the best, and as I tried to get the various achievements in the game, I noticed that I needed at least one character in each race to get them. So, I made a Warrior in every race, which is when I noticed that the Human Warrior was the weakest. Doing the same LW mission, and with the same exact skills, traits, and gear, the Human Warrior was awful compared to the others. Even when I added Ascended gear to it, it underperformed. Because my idea of "End Game" is to reroll characters, trying other professions, I decided to keep my user page intact so as to keep track of the builds I enjoy playing. As mentioned earlier, I enjoy playing the Necromancer and Ranger the most, I now have one of each in every race. As the Charr is my least favorite race, I may reroll them from time to time. --Enda - talk 16:31, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Does ANET Care About Casual Players?[edit]

When GW2 came out, rather than being an upgraded version of GW1, which was THE casual MMO player's dream MMO, they had turned it into a professional player's MMO. Which, of course, was why there was a mass exodus from both of the Guild Wars games in the first six months of GW2's release. Eventually, probably due to decreased income, they turned the game around, and in 2017 GW2 again became a casual player's MMO. With the release of "Jormag Rising" they have returned to the professional player's MMO. The mission to assault the Frost Citadel takes about an hour and a half to do, well within a casual players time restraints. HOWEVER, to get the mission to even start requires hours of coordinated clearing of the entire southern half of the map. If you sign on to a character that is in the Drizzlewood Coast, you will more than likely be on a new or barely started map. I had one day where I searched for a group, but every map was full. I happened to find a map with a group I could join just as the Frost Citadel mission started. Of the eight level 80 characters I have, signing in and out over several days, I only got into a map with the mission half over, once, and barely had any keys to get any of the loot. I also discovered, that most of the time when you do a mission that has it's own instance, when you leave the instance you are no longer on your progressing map, but on a brand new map with little or no activity. I'm still waiting on the upgraded version of Guild Wars 1. I wonder if it'll ever come out? --Enda - talk 00:01, 6 August 2020 (UTC)

Minor Reset[edit]

After getting all of the racial achievements I could, without doing Fractals or PvP or WvW, I've rerolled most of the characters as Asura, and pretty much as depicted in these pages. The exceptions being the Mesmer and Revenant, which I don't like, and kept those two as Necromancers (a Sylvari and a Human.) Peba is the only character whose appearance and outfit have changed. My current plan is to rotate through them a week at a time to do daily's, and once all are at level 80 and have map completion, I'll do the HoT and PoF expansions and then the Living World missions. If the End of Dragons expansion comes out before then my schedule will be tossed out the window. --Enda - talk 02:52, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
