User:Santax/Elonian architecture
The Guild Wars Wiki has an article on Elonian architecture. |
This page is a catalogue of the various architectural styles found in the Crystal Desert, any known lore about their creators, and where they can be found. It may eventually form the basis for an article, but for now it is a very early WIP. It's a big-ish project that is not (yet) being approached in a systematic way, so if you see any omissions feel free to add.
The list of architectural styles is and the lists of examples of each style are doubtless incomplete. If you see something missing, please feel free to add.
TODO: Be more descriptive, and name styles after their appearance rather than presuming their creator (if not known definitively). See wikipedia:Islamic architecture for word bank and other ideas.
Weathered Elonian[edit]
Weather-worn sandstone pillars and arches, some of them with penitent figures carved into them. Assumed to be of Forgotten origin. Can be found in:
Elaborate sandstone[edit]
Elonian[edit]
Mainly found north of Joko's bone wall.
Antiquated Elonian[edit]
Buildings of the kind seen in GW1. Bear some resemblance to the Town of Prosperity I guess?
Antiquated Kournan[edit]
Margonite structures[edit]
Zephyrites structures[edit]
Turai's host[edit]
Found in north Desolation and Crystal Desert in GW1; may be reflective of general Kournan architectural sensibilities from Turai's time.
- Pilgrims' Folly (double arch style not present in GW1 ruins)
- Throne of Pellentia in Shallows of Despair - "Made of wood from the ships that brought them to the desert's shores and bricks made of sand and mud, the structures have withstood the harsh desert weather surprisingly well." Turai's colony didn't come by boat?
- Sandbound Towers
Vabbian contemporary[edit]
Found mainly in Vabbi, but also in the Desolation and further north.
Teratohedron[edit]
Primeval dynasty[edit]
Has notably changed since GW1.
