User:Darwin Iznang/World Completion
This guide is written with the intention of creating a human thief, achieving 100% map completion for the rewards, and deleting that toon. Adjust as needed if you are running with a toon you plan to keep.
Overview[edit]
31 maps total to do world completion. Main reward is the Gift of Exploration, needed to make Gen 1 Legendary weapons. 6 maps for cities, and 3 for Orr, these should take about 3.5 hours to do. This leaves 22 maps to complete that have Renown Hearts. Figure 75 minutes each, or 27.5 hours, for a total of 31 hours.
Tips and Tools[edit]
Use the Esc key to cancel Vista animations early.
Pay attention to POI’s along the route, they are easy to miss.
Third Party Tools[edit]
Using an overlay tool like Taco with Tekkit's custom markers is essential to speeding your way around the maps quickly and efficiently.
The Tekkit guides are assuming you have gliding unlocked on your account, as well as mounts. The Skyscale is very handy for doing map completion.
Leveling and Training[edit]
It helps a lot if you play WvW regularly, as you will gain some useful items.
- Tome of Knowledge, collected from reward tracks (also from PvP reward tracks)
- rewards one level on characters less than 80
- Testimony of Desert Heroics, ranking up or collected from Skirmish Chests
- Used to complete Hero Challenges to get Hero Points, talk to the Heroics Notary in a WvW map
You can also use items like Experience Scroll (level 60) to level a new character quickly.
Trophies[edit]
This is a list of trophies and items you can buy from the Black Lion Trading Post, that you can give to an NPC to instantly finish a Renown Heart.
Character Creation[edit]
If you are making a character for deletion later, follow these steps. If you already have a character started, just read these steps and make note of what still applies.
Create human thief, choosing Common Folk at step 7. Complete the opening mission. You are now level two. Clean out your bags, most of it soulbound, which you can just delete. Sell whatever you can and bank or salvage the rest.
Use whatever method you choose to boost your new thief to level 80. You will now have enough Hero points to master core thief traits and unlock all skills. Clean your bags again.
Go to WvW, talk to the Heroics Notary vendor and buy 200 Notarized Scroll of Heroics to unlock all the Hero challenges in core Tyria.
- There are only 189 Hero challenges in core tyria, but these also unlock the 11 in the Maguuma Wastes
Then buy either 5 Notarized Scroll of Maguuma Heroics or Notarized Scroll of Desert Heroics, which will award the final 50 points.
Fully unlock Daredevil.
Build[edit]
You can use something like this build. Daredevils have easy access to swiftness and just move well overall. They also have very good killing power, saving time completing Renown Hearts that require downing foes.
- I am assuming that you will have full Ascended gear, so you can use it again for each character you create and then delete.
- If you do not have ascended, you can use exotic gear and just salvage it when done.
- Pick up a set of Nika's armor.
- For exotic trinkets, get Ruby gear. It already has the slot filled.
- For weapons, look for Usoku's Needle (dagger), Venomstriker (pistol), Eir's Short Bow, Impaler or Rhongomyniad (spear) and The Stingray (harpoon gun)
Mapping[edit]
New characters have a starting waypoint made available in each of the five racial starting maps. Those can be used to access the cities, which will put you at the starting point for Tekkit's guides.
Before you start, get the Guild XP Gain buff from Nathan the Bartender in the Guild Tavern, located in the Guild Hall. This in not an "on kill" buff, so it will apply to unlocking waypoints, POI's etc. Best to pick up the extra XP.
Cities[edit]
Do The Grove, Rata Sum, Hoelbrak and The Black Citadel. Cities are a great way to start as they are some of the easiest maps to complete, and they take very little time.
Each of the four cities has an Asura Gate to Lion's Arch. For example, Ligacus Aquilo Waypoint --- [&BKkDAAA=] in The Black Citadel has the gate right next to it. This will transport you to the Eastern Ward. From here, run in a northwest direction into Trader's Forum to pick up the Tekkit route.
Conversely, if you have purchase a passkey to one of the exclusive areas, like the Mistlock Sanctuary, there are portals that will take you right to the point where Tekkit starts you in LA.
Now do Divinity's Reach. When you reach the Salma District, you will enter in the first part of your Personal story. If you wish to farm a Black Lion Chest Key later, go ahead and complete On the Mend. If not, just do the five POI's in there and exit.
You should now have all cities done.
Orr[edit]
Now you run to Orr. The trip should be something you can do in just a few minutes.
Go back to Lion's Arch, to the Bloodcoast Ward Waypoint — [&BA4EAAA=]. Run south, and take the portal into Bloodtide Coast. Travel south and head towards the SE corner, to Whisperwill Waypoint — [&BLABAAA=]. Take the portal in Sparkfly Fen. Now run south to the SE part of the map to Brackwater Waypoint — [&BM4BAAA=]. Run south and take the portal into Straits of Devastation. Complete that map, and then do Malchor's Leap and Cursed Shore.
In total, Orr should only take a little over an hour to do all three maps.
Now we have all six cities completed, and the Orr maps as well. Your map completion level should be around 30 percent. Now we can use those maps as points to jump off into all the other maps.
Maguuma Jungle[edit]
Exit The Grove, and do Caledon Forest. Exit Rata Sum, and do Metrica Province. From Metrica, enter Brisbane Wildlands. Waypoint to Braggi's Stead and do Sparkfly Fen. Then from Darkweather Waypoint, travel to Mount Maelstrom. This completes Maguuma.
Kryta[edit]
From DR, enter Queensdale, and then Kessex Hills. Travel to LA, and go into Gendarran Fields, and then Harathi Hinterlands. Then back to LA, and travel back to Bloodtide Coast. Kryta is now done.
Shiverpeak Mountains[edit]
From Hoelbrak, travel to Wayfarer Foothills, and then Frostgorge Sound. Back to Wayfarer Hills and travel to Snowden Drifts, and then Lornar's Pass. Then back to Hoelbrak, and travel to Dredgehaunt Cliffs and finish with Timberline Falls. The Shiverpeak Mountains are now done.
Ascalon[edit]
Complete Plains of Ashford. From the Black Citadel, travel to Diessa Plateau. Now go to Rurikton in Divinity's Reach and take the Asura Portal to Fields of Ruin. Then do Blazeridge Steppes, Iron Marches and Fireheart Rise. This completes Ascalon and awards your Gift of Exploration.
