Troll
Trolls are large, tusked, brutish humanoids in Tyria. They are primitive creatures with a very basic tribal society led by chieftains. Many trolls prefer living in cave systems across Tyria, though those found in the Shiverpeak Mountains can be found in the open, and those in the Maguuma Jungle can often be found within denser portions of the jungle.
Physiology[edit]
Trolls are known to have a natural healing property that they use while in combat to recover from severe wounds. They can also generate lightning shocks to fend off attackers and other creatures encroaching on their territories.[1]
Female trolls have a deep voice which makes them indistinguishable from male trolls to the unlearned listener.[2] There appears to be no easily identifiable physical differences between male and female trolls at least to the casual onlooker.
Culture[edit]
Not much of troll culture is known, though it is known they can communicate with other races in the very rare cases they want to. At least one troll has been able to learn Tyrian,[3] but most of the encountered trolls prefer communicating in their own language which learned non-troll individuals will need to interpret to people not fluent in the troll language. In some cases trolls may even use body language with people unfamiliar with their language in order to communicate with them, showing favorable responses to people who respond with their body language and whose actions please the trolls.[4]
Cave trolls found in Lowland Shore have shown aspects of grawl-like primitive worship of unusual objects and view such objects as valuable treasure as is the case with a scale of Glint which is speculated to have existed in Bagoo Cave before the troll tribe migrated there.[5]
Trolls often resolve disputes caused by hunger, feeling cold, or other issues with their fellow tribal members with sudden brawls. These violent disputes can go on for a while unless another troll or an ally of the trolls breaks it up by beating up both belligerent troll individuals to calm them down for a time.[6]
Because of their lack of communication, very little is known about troll culture, though they are known to use skulls of their prey as decorations for their homes, and jungle trolls can be seen with tribal tattoos.
