Walkthrough

Noting that some of the Mursaat Tokens are located within the Skip up the Volcano jumping puzzle (#25, #29, #31, #23 & #24; in that encounter order), it is worth explaining that the checkpoints are numbered as follows for the sake of this guide:

1	Infernal Cape: On the eastern side of the volcano.		Destruction's Maw —	At the bottom of the east-south-east (4 o'clock) lava fall, there is a small alcove you can enter (to the right of the flow, looking at it from the water) containing a tunnel to the token.
2	Burning Grotto: In the northern exit of the Furnace Chamber.		Observation Outpost —	From token #3, climb upwards and along a narrow piece of rock to a nearby ledge.
3	Burning Grotto: In the northern exit of the Furnace Chamber.		Observation Outpost —	From the northern exit, head south into the cavern (and slightly up to the left) until you reach a Datamagic Camera near a lava flow in an alcove. Climb past the lava flow onto the shelf.
4	Burning Grotto: Hidden in a crevice in the back of the Furnace Chamber.		Furnace Chamber —	Face south at the bottom chamber and walk towards the wall. There is a crack facing west and the token is inside.
5	Smoldering Inlet: On the rocks northeast of the Magma Outlet.		Magma Outlet —	In an alcove facing east to the north east of the point of interest (near where the rock changes color on the map).
6	Lava Flats: At the source of the Lava River.		Lava River —	Approach from the western side of the outlet and look into the lava cave.
7	Fractured Caldera: To the northeast of Quickk's Retreat.		Quickk's Retreat —	Starting from Quickk's Retreat, head east to the end of the rock and then north towards the inside of the volcano. In the wall of the volcano, there will be a dip – go to the left of the tunnel and drop through a small hole. This takes you into a cave with the token.
8	Smoldering Inlet: Between rock shelfs in the mouth of the Magma Outlet.		Magma Outlet —	Go slightly north of the lava flow, up two shelves of rock, and through the (narrow) middle opening.
9	Caliph's Steps: Under a rock shelf on the western beach.		Twin Skulls —	Right next to a tablet location, just take the entrance left to it to find it at the back of the little cave.
10	Burning Grotto: Within the top shelf of the Furnace Chamber.		Furnace Chamber —	This is on the shelf just below the highest updraft on the west side of the chamber. Approach the wall clockwise and head through a narrow gap. (Kill the Molten Dominator to make the chamber's updrafts appear, or use a mount to climb to the top of the outside of the chamber.)
11	Smoldering Inlet: Near the peninsula in the inlet, within a small underwater cave.		Magma Outlet —	Head south-south-east from where the lava flow meets the sea, to slightly over halfway towards the rocky outcropping. Swim down and go through a small entrance near the seabed.
12	Osprey Pillars: On the southwestern area, in the basaltic pillar underbelly.		Osprey Aeries —	Southwest side of the island, just under the cliff edge
13	Performance Field: look for a crack in the wall in the Sloth Queen's quarters.		Sloth Queen's Showground —	After successfully finishing the [Group Event] Protect the slublings from the sloth queen (80) event, quickly run into the Sloth Queen's quarters and enter a crack in the south wall next to some hay. Anyone standing on the token will not get kicked out of area when its gate closes.
14	Infernal Cape: Within a magma fall on the northwestern side of the volcano.		Asuran Beachhead —	From the left ear of the northwestern skull, glide down and through the cheek. The token is hidden behind the higher lava fall inside the skull.
15	Fractured Caldera: On the upper rock-shelf tiers of the western side.		Quickk's Retreat —	It is located to the northwest of Quickk's Retreat, up two layers. Use the thermal tube slightly south of the point of interest and activate your glider mid-air, then face north-east. There are two pirate skritts on a rock shelf above. Head around the rock northwards and drop into the large crevice to your left (west). Then jump up on the rightmost corner of the rubble to climb over and locate the token behind it.
16	Infernal Cape: Under the volcano, hidden underwater.		Destruction's Maw —	The underwater cave entrance is in the middle of the body of water to the west of Asuran Beachhead. Search for a pile of rocks west of the peninsula; on its east side is a shelf on ground level which you have to dive under from above. Dive directly downward from the location marked as Cave Entrance in the image to find the tunnel (underwater view). Consider trying for #39 next as you can continue on from here.
17	Skritt Anchorage: At the highest point of the Dread Shiny.		The Dread Shiny —	The crow's nest of The Dread Shiny Point of Interest has a token. It is only accessible by air – use the ley line updraft nearby or a mount to get up to it.
18	Burning Grotto: Within the outer rock shelfs on the southern side.		Furnace Chamber —	Go to the very south of the island. Just east of the sandbar with basilisks, the first cove with a rock face has the underwater cave entrance. Note that there is also a cave in front of and on the sandbar where the token can be seen but not reached. The image shown is after having swam underwater. To get to the pool of water inside the cavern, dive in the shallow water to the east of the eastern most finger of the five southeast pointing finger-inlets of Burning Grotto. Tokens #18, #35, and #19 are in adjacent caves.
19	Burning Grotto: Under the Furnace Chamber on the southeastern side.		Furnace Chamber —	From token #35, head to the next nook to the east(counter-clockwise), swim under the ledge to get to a small cave chamber. On the north side, slightly underwater, is a gap leading to the token. Tokens #18, #35, and #19 are in adjacent caves.
20	Caliph's Steps: Next to the magma fall at the sealed entrance.		Sealed Entrance —
21	Bleeding Pulpit: Hiding in the north outer wall of the Pedestal of Flames.		Pedestal of Flames —	Not the wall of the pedestal itself but the lava rock circle around it. From the large, flat plateau north of the Pedestal of Flames and west of the Asura researchers, the entrance is between the first two stone spikes to its west (or counter clockwise if you're looking form the Pedestal of Flames). There's a narrow, but deep and twisting crevice with two short forks, one leads to the coin the other is a dead end.
22	Fractured Caldera: Along the riverbed of the magma outlet.		Quickk's Retreat —	From the point of interest, go north into the volcano and towards the lava lake. At the lava lake, go south and follow the lava river through a cave – the token is on a ledge near the easternmost bend, close to the entrance.
23	Sopor Titanum: Within the walls of the easternmost part of the volcano.		Chalice of Tears —	Inside the jumping puzzle (note that #25, #29, and #31 are also inside the jumping puzzle but earlier, you might want to start with them), starting from the point just before the final long glide, after the fifth Refreshing Mist (which provides the buff Checkpoint 4), glide to the northeast along the walls of Sopor Titanum. There will be a hole (the top of which is next to the circle marker in this image) down which both #23 and #24 can be found. Order for Sopor Titanum: 25, 29, 31, 23 & 24. PLEASE NOTE: Going after these tokens will cancel your refreshing mist buff for the Skip up the Volcano jumping puzzle. It is recommended to complete the jumping puzzle first if you want the chest and achievement. Tokens 23 and 24 can also be reached with the skyscale from the top of the ruins west side of Fractured Caldera, using Bond of Vigor and Bond of Faith and gliding west to crags and following crags south west. 24	Sopor Titanum: Within the walls of the easternmost part of the volcano.		Chalice of Tears —	Inside the jumping puzzle (see #23). Token #23 and #24 are in the same cave. One is on a ledge, the other token is on the floor in a corner. Note: Other than using a form of portal; there's no way to get back up from the floor and the cave exit takes you out of the jumping puzzle. Order for Sopor Titanum: 25, 29, 31, 23 & 24.
25	Sopor Titanum: Hidden within the outer walls of the inner magma falls on the north side of Chalice of Tears.		Chalice of Tears —	At the start of the jumping puzzle, before the first Refreshing Mist with the  Checkpoint Start effect, immediately after dropping down to the lava river (the first arrow in this image), jump northwest into a hidden cave. The inside does not apply stacks of  Burning. Order for Sopor Titanum: 25, 29, 31, 23 & 24.
26	Shipwrecked Beach: On top of the highest rock spire next to Ivy's Circus Spectacular.		Ivy's Circus Spectacular —	On top of the rock spire between Titan's Perch and the Shipwreck Beach vista. You can use the thermal tubes starting at Quickk's Retreat and gliding or a flying mount to get to the token.
27	Infernal Cape: On the horns at the top of the volcano.		Destruction's Maw —	On one of the horns above Destruction's Maw Point of Interest. Accessible through a Thermal Tube at the top of updrafts formed in the Furnace Chamber after the defeat of the Molten Dominator. Alternatively reachable by climbing up the southern side of the volcano, using the Springer mount.
28	Shipwrecked Beach: Somewhere in someone's messy hut within Ivy's Circus Spectacular.		Ivy's Circus Spectacular —	Northeast hut in the back
29	Sopor Titanum: Within the terrifying walls of the eastern side of the inner chamber.		Chalice of Tears —	Inside the jumping puzzle (#25 is also in the jumping puzzle and comes before this one, you might want to start with it), between the second and third Refreshing Mist (which provide buff Checkpoint 1 and Checkpoint 2 respectively). After the second long glide. To the right, after landing, are three Lava Elementals, the token is around on the left. Order for Sopor Titanum: 25, 29, 31, 23 & 24.
30	Skritt Anchorage: Within the walls of Rock Face Scratch.		Rock Face Scratch —	Do story mode first to befriend the Skritt, and then take the token on the ground near Rhoban.
31	Sopor Titanum: Drop down the southern part toward Titan's Perch.		Titan's Perch —	Inside the jumping puzzle (#25 and #29 are also in the jumping puzzle and both come before this), next to the fourth Refreshing Mist (which provides the buff Checkpoint 3), there is a hole you can drop down onto with this token, you may need to glide to get into it. You cannot get back out of this hole without teleporting. Order for Sopor Titanum: 25, 29, 31, 23 & 24.
32	Caliph's Steps: On the third shelf up to the northwest of the Sealed Entrance.		Sealed Entrance —	At the base of the slope leading up to  Caliph's Steps Vista — , there is a Mursaat Lore Tablet. To the right is the entrance to a grotto behind the shelves, drop in, turn around, then glide to a ledge on the back wall. Token does not vanish after it is collected.
33	Caliph's Steps: On an upper tier of a large room to the northeast of the Sealed Entrance.		Sealed Entrance —	Requires   Lean Techniques for the forward speed. Starting the same way to #32, at the base of the slope leading up to  Caliph's Steps Vista — , there is a Mursaat Lore Tablet. To the right is the entrance to a grotto behind the rock shelves. This time glide forward to the rocks in purple light, then land below where two rock platforms meet over a gap that leads to the large room underneath. The token is on a high ledge at the back of this room. It is important to maintain height to make the next glide to the ledge. This can take several attempts, and there is no way to climb back up after falling to the floor. From the edge of the lower platform, jump forwards and glide through the gap, immediately turning to the right and holding forwards for the boost, all the way to the ledge, landing on the right side of it almost where it meets the wall. You should be touching the ceiling as you glide in from the hole. Try not to touch the right wall, as moving that far right will mean less height to make the ledge.
34	Caliph's Steps: Look within some orifices on the Twin Skulls.		Twin Skulls —	In the nose of the east skull. You might also grab #38 at the same time.
35	Burning Grotto: Under another rock shelf within the southeastern waters under the Furnace Chamber.		Furnace Chamber —	From token #18, head to the next nook to the east(counter-clockwise), then swim to the back. Tokens #18, #35, and #19 are in adjacent caves.
36	Burning Grotto: Hidden within the upper rock tier of Furnace Chamber on the eastern side.		Furnace Chamber —	Go to the rocky platform to the east of the top of the chamber. Through a gap, you can go down to another platform just below, and then through an even smaller gap to the token. (Kill the Molten Dominator to make the chamber's updrafts appear, or use a mount to climb to the top of the outside of it).
37	Burning Grotto: Hidden within the outer rock walls of the Furnace Chamber to the northwest of the magma pool.		Furnace Chamber —	Northwest of the Thermal Tube, go down two large layers of rock to a platform with a Death-Touched Destroyer and a steep drop. Turn around to face the shallow rock below the previous layer, and go down a small entrance to the left of it.
38	Caliph's Steps: Look within the rocks between the two Twin Skulls.		Twin Skulls —	In a small crevice below the west skull's right eye socket.(Left side if you are facing it head on)
39	Bleeding Pulpit: Between the rocks where Destruction's Maw and Pedestal of Flames meet on the northern side.		Destruction's Maw —	Use the low northern thermal tube and glide to the northern side of Destruction's Maw. In the western nook of the lower shelf, there is a small hole in the floor. Glide into it and glide south, the token is on a ledge close to the ceiling. An easier method is to rise to the surface from token #16, and do a short jumping puzzle that in the end just lets you walk onto the token's ledge without the need for precision gliding.
40	Ashen Skerries: Look among the karka eggs in the Karka Hatchery.		Karka Hatchery —	Slightly north of the Karka Hatchery Point of Interest.
