The Six: Being or Playing God is a book found in the Durmand Priory's Special Collections during the Hidden Arcana chapter of the Echoes of the Past. It is one of the few books on the second level of the library, and can only be reached by following a winding balcony.

- More editorial than actual historical work, this book by Xakk, published in 1326 A.E., deconstructs the nature of the gods worshipped by humans.

- Is it coincidence that they have been gone since the first dragon began to stir? I think not. While they may not be gods, they are certainly not fools. The dragons would covet magic such as theirs.

- These beings are benefactors—often reluctant, sometimes misguided, and occasionally vindictive. To say that they created our world is ridiculous.

- Did they bring humans to Tyria? I cannot argue against this. It is an ancient belief that has no proof to support or deny it. Perhaps humans are constructs created from clay and bone.

- The book was originally credited to Gadd, but the author was changed to Xakk (with the addition of the date 1326 AE) in a later patch due to a lore discrepancy regarding Gadd knowing about Elder Dragons rising when he had died before Primordus, the first Elder Dragon to rise, had begun to stir.

- The mention of humans being constructs of clay and bone is a reference to multiple myths that say humans were made of clay by god(s).
