Great Tool[edit]

Great work, Ish. This is my favorite timer now, since it includes the waypoint links. Well done. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 23:36, 1 June 2014 (UTC)

My pleasure. :) —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 03:14, 2 June 2014 (UTC)

Waypoint links[edit]

Is it just me, or is this part of the table acting weird? It's showing the same link ([&BAAAAAA=]) for the next five waypoints, which is obviously wrong. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 21:13, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

It was because Alex the Robot created redirects for all waypoints yesterday, and I hadn't yet bothered to create a page for Property:Has nearby waypoint to define it as a text property, instead of a page property. Fixed. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 22:34, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
Thanks!
By the way, is there a particular reason to use Falias Thorp waypoint for the Caledon jungle wurm, now that Gamarien is no longer related to the world boss at all? Even before they changed that, I always linked people the Twilight Arbor waypoint since it is never contested and just as close. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 22:46, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

It seems to be throwing up a lot of &BAAAAAA=s again... — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 14:18, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
There, enjoy your &BEEF. :P —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 19:08, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
on the list right now, the Svanir shaman is still a sheep. What is it that keeps throwing the chat links, out of kilter? — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 19:51, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
The joke was that the link for Twilight Arbor Waypoint, for the Jungle Wurm boss, is
In the Jungle Wurm case, it was because the waypoint's ID is 1345, and SMW by default returns number values with thousand separators - i.e. 1,345. This broke the game link widget.
In the Svanir Shaman case, it was because Chat link format/0x04 codes/Shiverpeak Mountains had omitted the word "Waypoint" from the name of "Krennak's Homestead Waypoint." —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:13, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Yeesh, this wiki's coding is like a house of cards sometimes. Do you have a map in your brain to tell you what breaks what where? No wonder my brain remembers you as El Pollo Diabolo. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 20:33, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Let me extend your comparison: it's a house of cards where we glue the edges together as we place the cards. Once in a while we just forget the glue. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:45, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
Ah, I see now. Keep your eye on that glue, I suspect Alex is huffing it. — snogratUser Snograt signature.png 20:51, 23 June 2014 (UTC)
can't afford glue, I have to make prolonged walks past petrol stations. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 22:17, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

Pre & Post Reset[edit]

The last few times I looked, it seems that the abbreviated table stopped just before reset (midnight UTC). So it has four entries until 23:00 UTC, then 3 entries by 23:15, etc until there's just the one entry. At reset, it looks OK again. Is anyone else seeing the same thing? – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:29, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, I knew about this. At the time I couldn't figure out an easy fix for it, so I figured I'd leave it until someone else pointed it out. Now that you have, I immediately came up with a potential easy solution (of course) that's just a little tweak of the template. I'll wait to implement it until today's reset, to make sure it will work - I bet it'll also take some tweaking of the JS. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:02, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) I've made a guess as to the fix... by copying the first 3 events to the end of the timer subobjects on World boss/data. If that doesn't fix it, then my bad :p (I won't be around at midnight, but hopefully someone can check what happens). Edit: if ish reverts and finds a better fix, so be it.. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:04, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
reverted my fix, I assume ishmael has a proper solution -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 18:13, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
Had a false start, but now it's all good. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 18:45, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
Well... it works. Mostly. Gonna take more JS tweaking to fix the countdown, but at least it's displaying the events. Of course I solve it immediately after hitting save. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 23:41, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
Super! Thanks for getting to it so quickly. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 01:32, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Table sorting?[edit]

Hey all! I dunno if this is a bug or silliness on my part, but just wanted to point out that when I view the timer tables on Shadow Behemoth and Defeat the shadow behemoth, the sorting is different. I looked at the edit table, and the code that generates each should be the same, anyone know how this happens? Just curious! --73.249.43.167 22:58, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

Differences between the two pages that you linked? I purged the cache on both pages and they are now displaying the same - could it be that one of the pages receives visitors more frequently and so the cache gets purged more often? -86.131.73.23 01:03, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
You're right, clearing cache on both pages causes them to appear with the same sort order; That is, the next occurrence of the event at the top of the list, and future occurrences in ascending order below it. Prior to purging the cache, I was seeing, e.g., the next occurrence at the 2nd-from-bottom position on the list on one page, and right in the middle of the list on another page. My SO checked on the Shadow Behemoth page to find out when it was starting, and misread the table due to the wonky sort order. I looked at Defeat the shadow behemoth, and at the time, it appeared as expected (next time on top). I just wondered why the discrepancy existed, and now I have a better idea, so thank you! --73.249.43.167 02:32, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Boss name as link?[edit]

Could you please make the boss name a link to that boss page? -- Crazy Old Man (grumbles) 22:09, 10 April 2016 (UTC)

Done--Relyk ~ talk < 23:00, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
The links are a bit of a problem, "Evolved Jungle Wurm" is a red link, perhaps like the Events Timer, links go to the event instead? - Doodleplex 23:35, 11 April 2016 (UTC)

Ability to filter multiple bosses[edit]

Hello,

is there any way to add the ability to sort for multiple bosses like you can with the event timer? I am working on the Aurene variants collections and have made a few helper pages in my user page for this, but the world boss table only shows the countdown on the first boss and not the second or third. Example here: Step 2: Purify scale fragment The preceding unsigned comment was added by Digi (talkcontribs) at 16:01, 16 August 2024‎ (UTC).

Heya. Congratulations you found a latent bug in the code; it was generating a javascript error if you have more than one table, as only the first table was being targeted for the header rearrangement (to separate the headers with thead vs tbody), and therefore the second table's headers were found when searching for tbody, and as they are headers they didn't have the "data-time-hh" or "data-time-mm" data attributes set, which caused the javascript error, preventing progress further than the header row in the second table.
I've modified the code as follows: (1) each table uses a class identifier instead of an id, (2) to target each table separately, there's a map function, which applies to the initial setting of the unix timestamps and the subsequent row rearrangement. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 19:03, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
Thanks for the fix. I think a bug still remains because now I only see the list starting after reset, and not the most upcoming ones. It's currently reset -4 and there should be 2 instances of Claw and one of MegaDestroyer that are not showing. (Digi (talk) 20:00, 16 August 2024 (UTC)).
I see what you mean, lets leave it as two separate tables for now, and when I'm sober I might take another look. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:48, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
Ah, the template Template:World boss table only fishes for 12 results (once every 2 hours ==> 12 per 24hrs). The SMW ask sorting means it only finds stuff at the beginning of the day, and by the time it reaches our current time of night, those results aren't listed. -Chieftain AlexUser Chieftain Alex sig.png 20:54, 16 August 2024 (UTC)
