Technician
Technicians are generic NPCs found in the rebuilt Lion's Arch and the Lava Flats in Ember Bay. Human technicians can be found all over Cantha, in large numbers within New Kaineng City, tending to the dragonjade installations.

Dialogue[edit]
Lion's Arch[edit]
- In Grand Piazza
- I was told that some throw coins into public receptacles for good luck.
- I guess I've heard that too. So?
- My research further indicates that the desired receptacle for this ritual is concave in nature.
- It sounds like you're talking about "wishing wells."
- Yes, exactly! I've been throwing coins into this "wishing well" here, to research the resultant alteration of fortune.
- That's a planter, not a wishing well.
- Nonsense! This receptacle fits the description perfectly. I'm close—I can feel it. All I need is some empirical evidence.
- Yeah, well, good luck with that.
- Yeah, well, good luck with that.
- I regret starting this conversation.
- Sorry, I don't have time for this.
- In Special Forces Training Area
- Are you lost?
- I just wanted some information about this place.
- Technician: Welcome to the test lab!
- Technician: Here you can practice combat techniques and fine-tune strategies before deploying to Tyria's toughest battles.
- Technician: When you're ready to begin, approach the console and select the desired scenario.
- Technician: I will then summon a variety of test golems that you can pummel with reckless abandon.
- Technician: A report of your damage output and other details will be logged for your review.
- Technician: Bear in mind that I can't advise you on combat strategy, so don't ask for tips.
- Technician: Thanks, Black Lion legal team.
- Where am I?
- This is an experimental combat arena that I've leased out to the BLTC.
- Who are you?
- Technician: I'm not allowed to fraternize with the clients.
- Technician: Thanks again, Black Lion legal team.
- Technician: But in answer to your question, I'm the asura with all the toys.
- Technician: Be nice to me, and you can play with them.
- Experimental?
- I'm building test golems that experience a range of sentient emotions and feelings, both mental and physical.
- And you're letting us...kill them?
- I need a steady stream of data, and you're here to help me get it.
- I feel dirty. Bye.
- That sounds interesting. See ya!
- Combat?
- For the time being. Your sharp objects and magical manipulations will help me calibrate the sensors that I've built to dermine whether or not these golems are actually feeling anything.
- Help me become combat ready.
- Technician: I'm forbidden from advising you on specific strategies, but I can give you some general pointers on how not to die.
- Technician: For starters, you'll want to make sure you're equipped with the proper armor.
- Technician: I personally wouldn't go in wearing anything less than exotic armor.
- Technician: But I've heard tales of insance raiders going into combat with nothing but their underwear!
- Technician: So yeah, wear the right clothes.
- Technician: You'll want to join a squad of like-minded individuals—effective communicators and sturdy fighters.
- Technician: Oftentimes, squad members will define their roles depending on the characteristics of the fight.
- Technician: Lastly, you'll want to consider bringing food or other consumables that could give you an advantage.
- Technician: Not all items will work, mind you. Check the description in your inventory if you're unsure.
- This seems...wrong.
- I need a steady stream of data, and you're here to help me get it.
- I feel dirty. Bye.
- Okay. See ya.
- Arena?
- It's a big circle in which you can fight things. You say the word, and I summon the golem for you to attack. Great for assessing your combat effectiveness—and working off stress.
- Tell me more about the golems.
- Technician: The test golems can be configured in a variety of ways. Like they can be made to feel pain. Oh, I forgot to do that...
- Technician: The challenges in the field will demand you to change tactics, swap weapons, be aware of your positioning, etc.
- Technician: What you learn here may save your hide out there.
- How long have you been here?
- Since they rebuilt the city, though I only recently started allowing visitors. The first person who came through said it needed a paint job and offered to paint everything red. Can you believe it? RED?
- I've always liked red, personally. See ya.
- Fair enough. Bye!
- I changed my mind.
- I'll leave you to it.
Siren's Landing[edit]
- Aboard The Buoyant Bough
- Please don't touch the plants. They haven't been prepped for relocation yet.
- Are these the plants that you've been placing around the shore?
- Some of them, yes. We need to make sure they're strong enough to adapt to the soil here. It isn't as toxic as it was, but it's no Grove. We're planting these to help speed up its recovery.
- I hope it works.
- I'll keep my distance.
Quotes[edit]
- Male asura at Lava Flats
- Can't talk. Preoccupied. Come back later.
- Look, I hate to be rude, but I'm pretty busy. Come back later? Thanks!
- Busy! Come back later, please!
- Female asura at Lava Flats
- Not now! I'm sciencing pretty hard at the moment.
- I'm a bit busy. Please let me work in peace.
- Would you mind being a "hero" somewhere else? I'm in the middle of something.
