Cost nomenclature[edit]
This is related to the latest edit. In game, all costs are listed as cumulative (as far as I know) if you don't have the previous ones. It probably makes more sense to just have them show the cost for each tier. I'm going to go through and edit the rest of them to be consistent. Thoughts? Elysiume 04:28, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
Table with effects[edit]

WXP Upgrades - clarification on abilities[edit]
It is stated that 'All tiers are additive'. Is there anything to back this up? +15 supply capacity seems excessive once fully upgraded (for a total of 25 supply carried). Seems to me you will only be able to have a max of +5 carrying capacity, for a total of 15. Same question goes for all other abilities: did anyone test whether the % damage increase or defence increase is additive? -- Arduin 16:13, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- The all tiers are additive was something I added when they were all at +1%/+1%/etc. I'm honestly saving my points for supply, so I can't check the other ones. Elysiume 16:38, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, so when they all were at +1%/+1%/etc what the effects should've changed to is +1%/+2%/+3%/+4%/+5%, an extra 1% effect for each tier, not the +1%/+3%/+6%/+10%/15% like it it is now -- Arduin 17:22, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Dropped a point in +1% merc to verify, but it seems that the correct tiers are likely to be +1% per tier, not the +1%/+3% etc. Comment about tiers being additive is redundant and removed for clarity. Aoreias 21:31, 27 March 2013, (UTC)
- Habib confirmed it's 1,2,3,4,5 instead of 1,3,6,10,15 GW2 Forums --Thervold 16:55, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

- Definition - "Mercenary," as in "Mercenary's Bane." Does this refer to players from other worlds? If so, why not "Invader," as in the Daily Achievement "Enemy Invaders Killed"? --Gold Recluse (talk) 17:32, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
- No mercenary is a term for the NPCs found in mercenery camps. The quaggan on the borderlands and the dredge, ogre and hylek on the eternal battle grounds. - Yandere 17:42, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
merge[edit]
Could someone who's actively editing this page right now work on merging it with World Rank? Would it be enough to just redirect that page to here? I don't know anything about this, so I'd rather have someone knowledgeable take care of it. —Dr Ishmael 16:20, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- This page had everything on the World Rank page and more so I merged it into this. Elysiume 06:12, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- The page should be moved to World Rank, as that's the primary article. World Experience and World Ability Points would be sections on the page.--Relyk ~ talk > 06:16, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- Level is a subsection of the experience page, so it makes sense that rank would be a subsection of world experience, in my opinion. World rank is just the title, but experience is what determines everything. Elysiume 18:07, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
- From what I can tell, world ability points are determined from world rank, not world experience. Level isn't a subsection on experience, but rather the character page, for whatever reason.--Relyk ~ talk > 17:19, 29 March 2013 (UTC)
- It's also the World Ranks FAQ rather than the World Experience FAQ--Relyk ~ talk > 21:58, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
- I Agree mostly with what Relyk sais. World Rank as primary article and World Ability Points as a subsection. But World Experience should be a separate page. World Experience is equal to Experience which also has its own page. Jurrit 08:14, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Rearranging Ranks[edit]
Right now, ranks are listed in sets of five, which breaks up the internal sets of three.
- Invader, assaulter, raider
- Recruit, scout, soldier
- Squire, footman, knight
- Major, colonel, general
- Veteran, champion, legend
There isn't any particular flow between the sets, but internally they each have a theme. The downside is that this breaks up the nicely laid out 5/5/5 that pairs with the 5 listed rank costs. Is the theme relevant enough to warrant making it look less appealing (likely a 6/6/3 pattern)? Elysiume 00:28, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Outmanned and WXP for repairs[edit]
This has gone back and forth a few times now, so... from what I've seen in-game, you get 1 WXP from repairs normally, and 2 WXP while outmanned. Outmanned claims +10% WXP while outmanned. 1 WXP + 10% is 1.1 WXP.
So, I see three possibilities:
- The rounding uses ceil().
- The outmanned tooltip is wrong, and should say +50..250%.
- Repair WXP is deliberately buffed to 2 WXP while outmanned, since 1.1 WXP would round back down to 1 WXP.
I figured it was probably #3, but I haven't actually checked. It should be possible to figure out which one it is. -- Dagger (talk) 22:47, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure it's not #1, because everything else in the game seems to use trunc() rounding (i.e. not really rounding at all, just discarding the decimal). I know that achievement track percentages are trunc(), because I recently noticed 3999/5000 (0.7998) for a Weapon Master achievement displayed as 79%. —Dr Ishmael 23:07, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
World points[edit]
Is it possible to refund the points to reassign them? Yes4me (talk) 18:42, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
- At this time, no. There was one global refund when arrow cart abilities were nerfed. But since then, once you assign points, you must earn new ones. --Thervold (talk) 18:45, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
Guard Killer[edit]
What are guards? Are they only the npc who protect the structures? Or do they also include other npcs like Lord, Guard, other NPC inside structures? Yes4me (talk) 20:10, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- Since the time that you posted this they made the explanation more clear. However, a new problem with ambiguity has arised: Which of the enemies in "The Edge of the Mists" are considered "guards", and which are not? This is Critical information, as it determines how my separate characters will be built. I'm wanting to have one that is primarily used for The Edge of the Mists. --SiderFace (talk) 18:16, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
Catapult Mastery[edit]
From the WvW dev stream on July 19th, 2013, and to be implemented on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013:
- 5pts: damage to walls +20%
- 15pts: gravel shot applies bleeding
- 30pts: increased radius of all catapult skills
- 50pts: damage increase +25%
- 75pts: Seige bubble (destroys incoming enemy projectiles, including treb and cata shots) --142.162.250.220 23:26, 19 July 2013 (UTC)
player kills[edit]
How exactly is the WXP gained from player kills calculated?--70.68.101.51 06:37, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
When do you get zero WXP?[edit]
Does anyone know under what situation you will get zero WXP from killing a player? I ask because in those situations (according to the original Arenanet article) you should also get no stomping points from Bloodlust. Is it determined by level? Is it determined by how long they are alive? I've heard rumours about some servers cheating, stomping low level alts in secret locations to boost their server score and I'd like to know if this is a valid concern. If the mechanics are working to prevent it already, then that's good, but the wiki is unclear. Thanks in advance --Bunny - BunnyBomb Talk 08:45, 22 October 2013 (UTC)
Bonus Chests[edit]
- Please verify weekly bonus chests for 2nd place. Being from Blackgate i've never seen it :) Smoke 02:03, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
"Bonus World Chests are also awarded at the end of each WvW match based on world performance" My world was 1st before rematch but after that i still have the same number of bonus chests i had before. Why? 79.12.202.131 18:40, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
- Never mind, I solved my problem. I just had to relog to make them appear. 79.12.202.131 19:50, 14 February 2014 (UTC)
World Rank points - table layout and/or wording[edit]
Currently these two tables both refer to "rank," the larger table being XP needed for each title (10k XP total per title at the lower end, 50k for the uppers). Then there's the small table just below which also refers to "rank," which lists the XP needed for each tier or grade of said title (1k lower, 5k upper). It's a bit unclear on first glance, just from a wording standpoint, what each refers to but I'm not sure what way of presenting it would be better. I know what it means (I think), but the info could probably be presented more clearly. Maybe have the first one refer to 1000's of XP needed per title and the second to raw XP per rank within each title? The wording makes it somewhat difficult to present clearly in tabular format IMO since mechanically it's all just "rank." - Teknomancer (talk) 16:08, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- Is this better? The "WXP per rank" table didn't seem very necessary, so I replaced it with a prose description of what it was representing. —Dr Ishmael 17:05, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
- That helped, but I also went in and changed "Name" to "Title" so as to match the in-game naming convention. This might be as clear as it can get. - Teknomancer (talk) 17:42, 9 January 2015 (UTC)
Updates[edit]
I removed the line noting killstreak boosts impact WXP following some testing - no changes as the killstreak count went up to guards or camp/tower takes - assuming this is consistent across the board and only the main portion of the XP boost was modified to "all game types." I also added a line for the Skysplitter event since it's significant at least when done by 2 people (1000 wxp, before boosts - same as stonemist). I didn't test if there's a scaled-down version like bronze/silver/gold when a lot of people are participating, but I suspect not since most other WvW "events" are fixed. 69.24.177.80 09:47, 28 February 2016 (UTC)
Feedback 2016/06/02[edit]
is the % for guard killer and defense against guard right? I remember seeing 20% for the last points spend. --96.127.230.7 04:39, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
Chest of the Mists[edit]
The article Chest of the Mists (wvw) contains a reference to this article, but isn't mentioned anywhere here. When exactly this chest is given as a reward? --109.252.109.48 19:44, 18 June 2016 (UTC)
Gliding ability: Potential error?[edit]
Dears, I am sorry if my question is stupid but I am confused by something related to the gliding ability in WvW. I try to explain clear. When we mouse over each slot of an ability, it tells us what the slot will bring. In case of the gliding ability: The last slot tells that it would give gliding without using endurance except when leaning forward. So far so good. Now, what confuses me: I am at the slot before last one (last one empty), and I can already glide without using endurance, except when I lean forward! As I am in WvW on a daily basis, I have tested it several times before to come and write about here. It is a fact. I glide in WvW without using endurance except when I lean forward, while I am at the slot before last one only. So I am not sure if it is worth investing the points for the last slot, because what will it bring me? If anyone could share experience with that maybe? I would appreciate. --Tilu (talk) 04:34, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
- I came across this as well, and tested it on several characters. It is still true in 2024. Tier 4 of War Gliding Mastery gives all the benefits and Tier 5 does nothing. El Huhn (talk) 08:03, 31 March 2024 (UTC)
Stacking of WXP boosts[edit]
How exactly do the 4 listed boosts stack with each other? I'm assuming that since they are 4 different "Effects", they can all be active at the same time.
Also, how does each "Source" stack with itself? For example, can I consume multiple Birthday Boosters at the same time to extend the effect duration? What happens if I consume 1 Birthday Booster and 1 Celebration Booster for example? --115.134.223.51 12:55, 30 May 2018 (UTC)
What is a Mercenary?[edit]
In WvW, you can spend rank points on "Mercenary's Bane". However, the wiki doesn't have a definition for a mercenary. What are they? Daddicus (talk) 02:02, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
- Mercenary camp = Mercenary. - Doodleplex 02:05, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
Bounty?[edit]
This page includes the following in the WXP acquisition table
Objective | WXP reward |
---|---|
Defeating foes | |
Player kill (With bounty on their head) | 2,500 |
What's this referring to? There's no bounty system as far as I can tell. Someone on reddit suggested it was actually referring to Thimble of Liquid World Experience but that doesn't even drop from players according to that page. Should it be removed? Eerie Moss (talk) 11:01, 17 November 2018 (UTC)
Are any items or collections locked behind WvW Rank?[edit]
Such as the legendary armor and back item.
If so, what ranks are required? --161.142.215.84 18:18, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
- Only the Mistforged Triumphant Hero's armor has wvw rank requirement, see the table for exact values. You can obtain legendary armor and backpiece way before obtaining that armor set, although you are time-gated with the weekly limit of WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets. 213.197.80.253 18:59, 25 November 2019 (UTC)
WXP acquisition chart[edit]
The chart seems to be listing gold level participation in events only which makes it seem like that's some sort of base amount despite the mention that it scales based on participation level. From some personal observations, it seems like these are the WXP amounts for the different event levels for towers and keeps.
Tower bronze: 200, silver: 300, gold: 400
Keep bronze: 400, silver: 600, gold: 800
