Talk:Weapon kit
I know they are named sepparatedly from the other kits, but gamplaywise what's the real difference? It takes your normal weapons and make you use a different set of skills. For what I've read the tool belt affect many things, not just backpacks, so I'm not sure why the named it differently. Maybe some skills or traits only affect backpacks or weapon kits? - It seems likely it's only named differently because these are a single weapon with multiple skills skills, while the bomb or grenade kits include several types of bombs/grenades (multiple, "disposable" weapons). Effects from skills and traits could also be a reason. --ஸ Kyoshi 19:30, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
- If nothing else, ease of understanding. If you equip something that is called a weapon, you know what it does: Hurt people and break things. Utility kits in general seem to be about doing crazy different things around one theme (oil-slick grenades, poison gas, and flash-bangs, for example). Zolann The Irreverent 20:19, 19 May 2011 (UTC)
Stat Changes upon Kit Activation[edit]
Stats from the normal weapon seem to be dismissed when you activate any Kit. Weapon kits however at least grant power. There should be testing if the power granted is on line of green, rare or even exotic equipment for a given character level. All other stats from your normal weapons, like Precision or Toughness or Condition Damage are lost upon switching to any kit. Confirmation and the abovementioned comparison with normal weapons is required. Eronaile 18:17, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
- At level 26 I get am attack increase compared to my fine pistol and masterwork rifle. I do indeed lose the defense from a shield when using a kit. Manifold 23:27, 9 October 2012 (UTC)
- All bundles (including kits) and most transforms have their own Weapon Power stat that is used in lieu of your equipped weapons; I don't know about raw Power, though. I recorded all of these for kits and transforms during one of the BWEs, but never got most of them on the wiki (although see the conjures), and they may have changed since then. —Dr Ishmael 02:48, 10 October 2012 (UTC)
Can we finally merge this with device kits now?[edit]
In the August 8th patch notes it said "Weapon Kits and Device Kits are now referred to as Engineering Kits to reflect that their classifications are functionally the same." Divinebaboon (talk) 06:10, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
- I think the best way to do this would be to create the Engineering Kit page and merge everything on the weapon kits and device kits page, and placing the outdated notice on their current pages. Or maybe there's a special mod power that can do this. Intricity (talk) 22:36, 13 August 2017 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and done it. I don't think we need to take advantage of special mod powers -- it's important to keep the old names as redirect pages for people who aren't aware of the change, so I just copy-pasted the content onto the new article and converted the old ones to redirects. This talk page is also linked to from the new article's talk page, for ease of reference. --Idris (talk) 00:53, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
