Talk:Ventari's Tablet
Untitled[edit]
Peaceful centaurs? Where are these guys in-game? Cress Arvein 04:32, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- Look carefully - "It speaks of the peaceful Centaur's morals" - it refers to the morals of the Centaur, Ventari, not the Centaur race (it's not pluralised). -- pling | ggggg 12:27, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, it was kind of obvious, since most of the centaurs in Tyria (Continent)are violent and hostile to humanity. (Actually, only 1 centaur in propechies and eye of the north is not hostile. Ventari.)--70.71.240.170 17:36, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, there are two peaceful Tyrian Centaurs in GW1. -- Konig Des Todes 21:08, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
there are many, you free them in the storyline of nightfall~~VALAR~~
- They were talking about Tyrian centaurs.-- Shew talk 14:55, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
- I would hardly call any of the Velderunner pride peaceful. Not hostile to the players and sunspears, yes, but far from peaceful. Peaceful means they are non-hostile to all others who do not wish them harm, the Velderunner - like all centaurs, and in fact like most races - have a grudge against humans and are known to have attacked humans "off-screen" - even unprovoked. -- Konig/talk 16:57, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Curious: What does the tablet actually say? Id like to read it --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.229.170.22 (talk).
- We may be able to read it in GW2. But we don't know what it says atm. -- Konig/talk 08:33, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
- I've been wondering the same thing. I haven't read the novels yet, maybe it's mentioned in one of those? 99.102.246.121 20:16, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Just a bit of trivia: The tablet actually reads the 7 tenets, only without any numbering or punctuation, in New Krytan. While a few of the letters in the latter parts are covered in vines, most of it is readable and translatable. I've personally grown quite fond of reading things in-game in New Krytan, and I'm glad that the devs are attentive enough to the details of objects to put the actual writing on them. ~Cyn The Red 21:24, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Reference to the Ten Commandments[edit]
Ten "rules" on how to life your life, sounds like a GW2 version of the Ten Commandments to me. ~ Sanna 22:56, 2 November 2013 (UTC)
- I fail to see how. None of these are commandments. They seem more like guidelines, not unlike those of the Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhism. The Biblical Commandments are based first on 4 ideas of serving a god's ego (no working on Sabbath, Worship no other god, no graven images because god is jealous, no taking god's name in vain), while the other 6 speak of "don't do x" without explanation. The Eightfold Path, however, is a series of guidelines to follow supplemented with teaching and experience. At no point does Ventari's Tablet say "Don't take Ventari's name in vain" or "Do not kill". And the carving of stone tablets is hardly an original idea, either. Plenty of religions and fairy tales have stone tablets with writing on them, and there are plenty of artifacts which pre-date monotheistic religions. --72.197.27.90 11:46, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
- Also, if you'd counted? You'd have seen there are only 7 "rules". Not 10. --72.197.27.90 11:47, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
