Coolest looking skill icon ever. I would use this every time I get downed, just so I can click that amazing button. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 173.76.237.251 (talk).

Why does this even need a recharge time when you'll be defeated anyway? User Loquay Sig.png 15:06, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

When downed, your downed skills start out recharging (not the full recharge time, but probably based on it). Also, it will continue to recharge while you are not downed, so if you use this skill and get revived and downed ten seconds later, you'll still have to wait twenty more seconds to use this skill again. –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 16:35, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm curious about whether you still count as downed while using this skill, and can be rallied/revived/whichever term it is, by your allies. --Kyoshi User Kyoshi sig.png (Talk) 22:01, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
The "once it ends you're immediatly defeated" part suggests that even if your rallied (if it would be possible) you'll die when this skill ends... 131.180.114.136 11:46, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
If you are still defeated after killing something (where you would be rallied if you were still downed) then that'll make this skill pretty much unused - too much of a double edged sword, no one wants to have to run back to where they were just so they can be alive for 30 secs Thering 18:23, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
This is more of a team play skill. For example, in a group of three fighting a boss, two players gets downed, one of them uses Vengeance and during that thirty seconds revives the other. Then when that 30 seconds is up the person who was revived revives the Warrior. So that Warrior most likely saved the entire team. EiveTalk 18:28, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Ah yes, of course. I'd missed that anyone could revive from defeated as well. That makes this skill much much better than I thought.Thering 01:24, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Yep, the scenario I took was actually one of the ones used to describe the skill's usefulness by Anet themselves in some interview (albeit with less detail on my part) but yeah, a lot of people were confused about how this skill worked until then. EiveTalk 01:35, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Defy Pain Similarities[edit]

Icon similarities, that is. DP is one of my favorite skills in GW1, so one of the first things I noticed about this skill was it's similarity with the DP icon. Trivia? Zolann The IrreverentUser Zolann The Irreverent Mysterious Summoning Stone.png 20:09, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

yea because Defy Pain has arrows in his body!and other skills don't have such things--User The Holy Dragons sig.pngThe Holy Dragons 23:11, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Holy Dragons, I have a crush on you (plural?) 65.94.206.68
Under no circumstances whatsoever we are adding trivia notes of icons looking similar to gw1 skill's icons. Especially not when they are different skills. - Infinite - talk 16:37, 25 April 2011 (UTC)

This + Repair?[edit]

It would seem using this will damage your armour... --Tyris 10:33, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Afaik there are no durability/repair costs in GW2. Mediggo 10:57, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Of course it will but you won't use it if you're not sure you'll be defeated anyway... --Till034 12:33, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
I beg your pardon, but what is repair and armor damage? Alfa-R User Alfa-R sig.png 13:15, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
That would be this. - Infinite - talk 13:59, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Wow, didn't knew that a kind of death penalty had been introduced. Alfa-R User Alfa-R sig.png 14:45, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
Well, if it works like Vengance in GW1, you shouldn't suffer from additional armor damage penalty when you Vengeance. Mediggo 15:37, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
I disagree. It's a Downed skill, not a defeated skill (that wouldn't make sense). If using Vengeance prevented armor damage, that would give Warriors a monetary advantage over the other professions.
Which, imo, would be stupid. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.png A F K When Needed 16:02, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Not...dead?[edit]

I watched one of my friends use this skill and then not die after. He was level 10, so I'd say it's pretty unlikely that he was using Sweet Revenge. Unfortunately, he's a GW2 n00b, so he didn't really understand what I was shouting about when I said, "Wait! Did you just use Vengeance? Why aren't you dead?" Can someone with a warrior confirm this? Is there a <100% chance to rally if you get a kill? I think that would be a pretty important piece of information to include as a note. --Sahjiarah 07:45, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

There's a small chance to rally and lose vengeance each time you kill a foe while in vengeance, yes.~Based on my own experience, it occurs about... 25-35% of the time when I use vengeance and manage to get a kill. Mediggo 08:27, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
Okay, cool. I guess we just need to start a data table for this, unless ANet feels like divulging what that chance actually is. --Sahjiarah 09:46, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
I've scored as many as 8 kills during vengeance(yay hundred blades into whirlwind into hundred blades) and failed to rally before, and i once rally'd off a squirrel during vengeance.--99.246.142.243 00:22, 18 September 2012 (UTC)
Is that actually what happens, though? I've had it happen once, too, but there was no indication I'd "rallied" (no text or anything). I simply didn't topple over when I expected to. I assumed it was simply buggy. 90.185.20.169 21:14, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
It's definitely intended- when you get a kill during vengeance, if you're lucky the Vengeance debuff will be removed from your status bar. If you're not lucky... plop. Felix Omni Signature.png 08:37, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
My warrior friend here has never has this happen. Perhaps this has been patched? ~Uber5001 24.13.97.51 03:28, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Zoning = dying[edit]

I just tried this out as a test, while under the effects of vengeance I tried to zone (between 2 pve zones), and immediateley died. Can someone else please try this and if this happens to you also, can we make a note here, or on the main page if it is felt important enough info. edit: as a point of interest i died at the portal of the zone i was trying to leave. Puk 05:45, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

I'm assuming you went far enough to warrant a loading screen. Dying during the zone transition sends you back to the previous zone, and the vengeance effect probably ended while you were switching. Wouldn't want corpses being able to teleport and all that.--Pyroblade 18:56, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

No, what happened was, i was a few seconds into my 15 second allowance, and touching the portal made me drop on the spot. Puk (talk) 08:38, 28 June 2014 (UTC)

Full health not removing buff[edit]

After seeing that note on the wiki page I have been testing it for several days. Being in vengeance mode and getting to full health does not remove the effect. Anyone else? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Focomotive (talk • contribs).

I tried it out just now in the heart of the mists and did not rally off of getting myself to full health. So unless it's a pvp only thing, or random chance like killing something, I don't think you can rally by getting yourself to full hp. I don't think you can break combat during vengeance either so that note seems outright incorrect, at least from my testing.

It didn't work for me either. Full health does not remove vengeance. - A The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.185.12.161 (talk • contribs).
