Talk:Vendor
Types of vendors[edit]
Do we need to distinguish between merchant (category:merchants) and shopkeeper ([[:category:shopkeepers]])? In GW2, the generic term is vendor. We distinguish by
- Their primary ware: weapons (weaponsmiths), armor (armorsmiths, boons (Boon Givers), Guild benefits (Guild Promoters)
- Their medium of exchange (karma → karma vendors), dungeon tokens (Dungeon Vendors), glory (Glory vendors).
I can see identifying, erm, restauranteurs (those who sell Food; food merchant would be fine, too) and material suppliers (those who sell items useful for crafting).
In short, I think we should only create both cats and primary articles if it helps players to identify/find the right type of vendor to take their currency. (With an obvious exception that we create a redirect article if there's an in-game term that's a synonym for another in-game term.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 15:31, 17 May 2012 (UTC)
Edit to Laurel Vendor description[edit]
I think we should add (with the addition to other currencies in some cases) to "Accepts Laurels only" under notes. It's a tad bit misleading that Laurel Vendors accept laurels only. --Eclipse143 (talk) 10:28, 6 August 2013 (UTC)
Player chatter[edit]
For most player character chatter there is a section titled "player chatter" on some page or another that has a table with the possible dialogue by race and gender. For example, there's a section on the "Item" page named "player chatter" with the various things the placyer character might say when a good item is acquired.
But I can find no such table for the things a player may say when departing from a vendor. I was trying to find it because sometimes they say things I don't understand and I was hoping someone had transcribed the mysteriouss dialog. For example, when the store dialog is closed when playing a female asura character, the character sometimes says "May all your theories be sound". Other times she just says "Goodbye". A male charr sometimes says "Dismissed!" Where would be the right place for a section & table for "departing chatter"?
My male Norn says something that sounds like "Innocent" or "In a sec" but I can't really understand it...
