Another mesmer in gw2. Justice 00:40, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Unconfirmed. He was, we don't know what he is now. Ge4ce-Talk-Contribs 04:24, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
yeah thats nice. Justice 05:51, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
We know there's monks in the Catacombs, so this guy is most definitely still a mesmer. - Infinite - talk 14:10, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Vassar and Ralena's pages[edit]

Vassar appears in-game as "Champion Vassar", and Ralena Stormbringer appears as "Champion Ralena". Does anyone have an issue with moving this lore onto the Champion Vassar page and turning this into a redirect? There's no "Vassar" NPC in the Ascalon Catacombs, but there's some talk on talk:monster rank about titles. At the least I think unique, named NPCs should have a single page that includes their prefix title. Manifold User Manifold Neptune.jpg 20:01, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

Truth be told, I have issues with giving "Champion" and "Veteran" names to any article. Why? Because from what I can tell, anything can be a champion or veteran - it seems to be GW2's version of boss auras - with the main difference being high levels (and in turn hit points, defenses, and perhaps abilities or AI).
That said, however, I do believe they should be merged. Konig/talk 10:36, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
I'm a bit hesitant to assume that all normal generic foes have champion versions. Veterans seem to have more abilities, and I'd assume different drops, we'd have to be careful about how we showed the distinction if we have a single page for three types. We still have issues with ruby and sapphire drops on GW1W because of an assumption made several years ago, and people who don't know better could quickly make the drops section a jumbled mess that would require someone to go kill a bunch of whatevers to confirm which types drop what.
If we did go for all three types on one creature page it would most likely be the title-less version with the titled versions as redirects, but for "unique" foes, such as the Lovers, who I assume always have a Champion title, I think their actual NPC name should be the page, and the title-less would be the redirect. And that could be a bit confusing for people, too. Which is why I'd rather have generic monsters have 3 (or 2, champion versions seems pretty similar) separate pages, with clearly visible links to the other version(s). And we could make some kind of compact common formatting for links on things like location pages so that it doesn't look really redundant. Will have and can have are two different situations. Nonetheless, Champion and Veteran titles seem to be Anet's lazy way out of making a hundred+ unique names for bosses (which also makes sense with them respawning anyhow) while simultaneously removing the meh boss aura.
As things stand, imo, we should add sections to normal NPC pages that documents there being champion/veteran versions of shared-named NPCs, as well as the champion/veteran buffs. I am, however, not against keeping the title in the article names (as those will be searched). Konig/talk 17:23, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

(Reset indent) When NPC's speak in cinematics it shows their actual name, like King Adelbern, while when you encounter him in-game it adds the Veteran word in front as an indicator of class/type. For all we know the class/type was thrown in front of the NPC's name as a temporary measure since the recent press event added new borders around the NPC's portrait. A page like Champion Vassar should redirect to Vassar as that is the NPC's actual name. That Sounds Risky | 21:11, 28 March 2012 (UTC)

Perhaps doing a redirect and adding one of those links to the article on Vassar in the GW wiki would work? Right now Vassar is the only one with two pages in this wiki, at least that I've found.--Gwenar Leours 17:23, 26 December 2012 (UTC)

How to kill[edit]

How do you kill him? I keep dying even though I don't even see him do anything. Tharkon (talk) 05:05, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

Serously, I've killed every other monster in the dungeon but been fighting this guy for a few hours now and he just won't die. And ArenaNet made the game so crappy that if you log out you got to start over. Tharkon (talk) 05:45, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
Uh...dungeons are supposed to be done with a group of five people, even in story mode. Use the LFG tool under Ascalon Catacombs. Vili 点 User talk:Vili 07:16, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
I don't have five people, but I just finished it. The key discovery was that I could open the gate between the necromancer and the Vassar's room. Then I used the waypoint there to respawn before Vassar could heal. The supposed final boss was 10 times easier than Vassar. Tharkon (talk) 07:18, 30 March 2014 (UTC)
