Talk:Tome of Influence
I would like to note that for me these guildpoints, these infuence points, never actually counted as real points for the guild, I'm not sure if this is a bug, from when the guilds were still really unstable [Not that they are really stable now but there has been major improvement.] or that there might be another reason, but the upgrades we did with those points were completely disregarded, anyone else with a similar problem? Didn't get one?[edit]
I never received one of these, even though I have digital deluxe. Is there any way to get it after you start your first character? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Daddicus (talk • contribs).
- Oh, yeah, that was me. Sorry about forgetting my signature! Thanks for fixing it! Daddicus 23:46, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, and I got one after all. Just didn't know where to look. Daddicus 23:47, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
4,000 influence[edit]
I'm pretty certain that the one I got yesterday with the purchase of an additional Digital Deluxe account was worth 4,000 influence. - Manassas (talk) 14:36, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, just checked the guild log. 4,000 influence. - Manassas (talk) 16:32, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- Does the in-game description reflect that, or does it still state that it gives 1,000 influence? --Ventriloquist 16:36, 26 January 2015 (UTC)
- It correctly states that it gives 4,000, because that is how I noticed the discrepancy. - Manassas (talk) 09:11, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
- Just got the digital upgrade on sale (-75%) today, and got 1000 influence from it. Maybe the amount of influence you get from the thing is related to whether or not you pay full price? The screenshot isn't bugged either, the in-game guild history window doesn't actually show the tome's name. Teknomancer (talk) 17:58, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

- There are two identical items with this name in the API: 21046 and 36508. One of them probably gives 1000 and the other gives 4000. —Dr Ishmael 18:03, 6 March 2015 (UTC)
- According to the post-Sept. 2014 feature pack updates to the PS rewards, Retribution and Victory or Death both award a Letter of Commendation for 400 influence - not a Tome. (I checked the history, and that's the same as what they awarded originally.) —Dr Ishmael 04:42, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
- I did Victory or Death 5 times over the past 5 days, and each of the Letter of Commendation is giving me 1000 influence instead, not 400. I can take screenshots for the history if that is necessary. --Maplemist 07:43, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
- Aha, that's because there are also 2 versions of Letter of Commednation - 19516 (1,000 influence) and 19517 (400 influence). We definitely need to get these different versions documented properly. —Dr Ishmael 16:15, 7 March 2015 (UTC)
- Letter of Influence gives 4k, Tome just 1k. Im pretty sure Manassas used the promotional Letter. --37.4.182.55 13:31, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
- Did you not read what I wrote? There are two versions of each. (There may actually be more, I haven't refreshed my API items database in a few months.) There's also another confusingly-named item, the Letter of Influence.
ID Name Rarity Influence Source (according to wiki) 19516 Letter of Commendation Rare 1,000 (not on wiki) 19517 Letter of Commendation Rare 400 Guild Promoter / Commendation Trader 21046 Tome of Influence Legendary ? - We need to find out how much influence each version of the tome gives, because they don't have descriptions in the API. So someone else needs to go buy the Deluxe edition and record the item ID. —Dr Ishmael 13:57, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
- Based on a legacy post on reddit, I think the Tome of Influence from Digital Deluxe/Collector's Edition is giving 1k influence. I tried to dig my guild history, but apparently the entries are already gone as they are 2.5 years old. --Maplemist 16:53, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- I bought the Deluxe version last week when it was 75% off and can confirm that the Tome granted 1k influence. —Ventriloquist 20:04, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- I can guarantee that the item I used was a Tome of Influence and that I got it from buying a Digital Deluxe account (my 4th) at a 75% discount. The tome's in game description said it granted 4,000 influence which was exactly what it did. If someone can convince A-Net to make another 75% discount offer, I'll do it again (just for the sake of science). - Manassas (talk) 11:44, 17 April 2015 (UTC)

Changed to 5 Guild Commendations[edit]
I had one in bank from digital deluxe and noticed that the icon as well as the description have recently changed - from 4000 influence to 5 Commendations and from book (current icon on the page) to the Commendation icon found in the Wallet. (I'm not sure I like this change, by the way. Commendations can be traded for high-end gear. I don't like the idea of buying in-game power with real money.) --Amplifiction (talk) 10:17, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
