Unlike regeneration, this boon heals in discrete packages every second. I watched the 50-minute gamescom video very closely. I don't know if that's worth mentioning, or how to put it. Shaun|Nox 13:34, 1 September 2010 (UTC)

What I also find interesting to know is; will it stack with itself to increase health gained over time? - Infinite - talk 05:17, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I would imagine so. User A F K When Needed Signature Icon.jpg A F K When Needed 12:05, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Yes, that was why I inched towards it. It'll be capped then, as well. - Infinite - talk 12:16, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
Boons stack in duration only not effect. So second regeneration will only increase the time boon lasts won't get you +2 healing and +3 for a total of +5 for example. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ramei Arashi (talkcontribs).

Amount healed[edit]

Do we know what decided the amount healed? Is it a percentage of total health of the person with the boon? Is it the level of the character that provides it? 24.165.51.35 20:17, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

The amount of healing can't change based on who casts the boon. It will either be constant like original health regeneration or based on the target's maximum health (as an incentive to put points in vitality). –~=Ϛρѧякγ AHHH! (τѧιк) ←♥– 20:23, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
The amount healed depends on your compassion. I've tested it right before the servers went down. With the +heal PvP amulet, my regeneration ticked much higher. Gnarf 01:04, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
At LvL 80 Regeneration without Compassion heals for 125. With 100 Compassion Regeneration heals for 138. With 1.403 Compassion Regeneration heals for 300.--Inoshiro 11:31, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Shouldn't it also be proportional to receiver's health to some extent? Mediggo 11:48, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
Nope. I tested Regeneration with my Necromancer in the Heart of the Mists on various allies ( Elementalists Guardians etc.) Different HP-Pool, same amount of healing.--Inoshiro 11:50, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
I think the Healing of Regeneration is calculated by Level*1,5+(12.5% of Compassion)Am i wrong or right? --Inoshiro 17:41, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
The correct amount is 1,5625 not 1,5.--Inoshiro 17:55, 15 May 2012 (UTC)
I think the X formula changed from 0.1258 to only 0.065. -- 06:03, 21 September 2012 (UTC)
So, since the boon stacks in duration, what happens when you apply regeneration on yourself with say 1,000 compassion, and then someone else applies regeneration on you with say 500 compassion? Does it finish the duration of your regeneration then get weaker for the rest of the duration? Does the new score cancel the old making the overall boon weaker because someone else was trying to be helpful? Does it just go off the original boon and add new duration? Might be something worth testing during the next beta if anyone out there has access to it.~Ao Allusir 14:01, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
We don't know how duration-stacking works yet. Sounds like something someone should research during BWE3. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 14:36, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
In fact, we know that it stack in duration, so most probably each "tick" have is own hidden data with the value of the heal, so you can have in the stack some tick at 200 and some other at 250. What we don't actually know is wich stack would be used first : The older one, the newer one, the best one ...

So anyways - tested this equation and the multiplier for compassion seems to be 1/2 of what it is supposed to be. At lvl 70 and 964 compassion I heal with a level 1 Regen 235 health per second - the actual multiplier seems to be around 0.1258A Liability 03:42, 19 September 2012 (UTC)

I did some more testing and updated the fomula slightly. The scaling with compassion is pretty clearly 0.125. And from what I'm seeing the exact scaling with level is probably 1.5625 (ie 125/80) but I think that's probably more precision than either the real data suggest or that the page really needs. Here's my data
Level Healing power Regen amount
4 0 11.4
4 8 12.4
11 0 22.19
29 0 50.4
29 43 55.8
45 0 75.4
45 80 85.4
47 0 78.6
47 86 89.2
80 0 130
80 150 149
80 250 161
80 1173 277
80 200 155
As an aside, remember that WvWvW bonuses apply to regeneration values received, but not to the tooltip. ~ Capric 15:41, 30 September 2012 (UTC)
OMG! thanks so much for adding this data! helps me finish up the compassion page ;)A Liability 09:49, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

"Constant amount of time"[edit]

Besides sounding like an oxymoron, is this meant to say that the rate of healing does not change over time (which I'm inferring from the comment above)? If that's the case I think it should be "heals at a constant rate over a certain amount of time." Granted I'm no Toby Ziegler, but the wording here doesn't make sense. Duration Cap[edit]

Duration Cap is ~ 1 minute -- 11:10, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

With Phantasmal Healing and three Phantasms up, the regeneration is reapplied faster than it runs out. It only seems to go up to 40s by doing this. The cap might be different depending on which skill applies it. How did you get yours to 60s? --Godzuki likes tacos 02:10, 5 October 2012 (UTC)

An Engineer's Healing Turret applies regen about every 10 seconds, faster than it runs out, and eventually can get it up to 1 min 192.168.104.82 15:32, 14 October 2012 (UTC)

My estimate is a 75 second cap. --Acru 12:30, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
The cap is 40 seconds from a single player. Pretty easy to check with warrior banners, the regeneration never goes higher than 35-37 seconds no matter the number of flags. The flags apply 5 seconds, so it's hard-capped not to apply regeneration if that pushes it over 40 seconds.--Relyk Christmas sig.jpg talk 15:33, 25 December 2012 (UTC)
You're wrong, I have been able to apply 53 seconds of regeneration to myself from just my own skills. It might be possible that the regeneration applied to allies has a time cap of 40 seconds. Please do better research Axolotl 19:47:55, 16 May 2014 (UTC)
The comment you're replying to is 18 months old - perhaps Anet updated this sometime since then without announcing it? Please don't be so confrontational. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 20:06, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Values/times on this page?[edit]

I'm tempted to start adding (known) values to this page, since it'd be very unobtrustive and would let one compare regenerations at a glance. Thoughts? The preceding unsigned comment was added by VonBoomslang (talk • contribs).

Healing Power source / stacking[edit]

Can anyone confirm that it's always the recipient's healing power that is the factor? Since regeneration is a common enough boon to have applied from multiple sources, I'm curious. Since it stacks duration, I'm assuming that it's a fixed amount, meaning its based on the recipient's healing power and not the source's healing power. If I'm wrong, then the amount healed would fluctuate over time as the source varied, and that higher Healing Power would potentially provide a (small) benefit even when not using your own heals. 69.24.169.187 22:07, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Condition damage is based on the thing causing the damage (even for individual stacks). It would therefore seem illogical that the reciever's healing power is used. Hence I'd say it's based on the caster's healing power, and that would indeed mean the actual healing can vary per second, if multiple instances of regeneration from separate casters are used on the reciever. 80.112.180.46 20:57, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
...or if the caster buffs his healing power after applying regeneration on an ally (switch weapons, eat food...)? That's how condition damage seems to work as well. Pulses are calculated every instant based on the source's Condition Damage attribute. --Alad 04:39, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

Basic mechanics[edit]

Could you please add a link to the "regeneration" as a common non-profession game mechanics applied to all characters, not only a particular boon (of course if such article does exist)? Or extend this one article accordingly. --109.252.108.223 08:25, 8 July 2017 (UTC)
