Fine rarity variation for this item[edit]
During a research for skins I found out there is a lvl 5 Norn Greatsword with Fine rarity. Since none was available on TP I wasn't able to retrieve an ID, then I couldn't get a chat link. have someone else already found this one? Also I wonder if I found this item, would it be supposed to be put in the table in this article? Or would it fit on another article, or what not? --Txon Atana - (talk) 19:20, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- If there were a fine variant of this item, it would go on this article, but I've never heard of a t2 cultural item being avaliable as anything but rare. Are you sure it wasn't a t1 cultural weapon, the Zweihander? Psycho Robot (talk) 19:21, 5 May 2014 (UTC)
- I got a rare Norn Greatsword from a chest (almost the same described on the article) and then I searched on TP for similar items with the same skin, just out of curiousity. As result I found a fine (blue) level 5 Norn Greatsword on TP, but it wasn't available (in other words, no one was selling it). I can't be sure where it comes from or what drops it, but I just found out that there is such variation in the game.
- And yes, I only have seen cultural weapons as rare, but I believe this one I'm talking about isn't a cultural as it can be sold on TP (from what I recall cultural weapons can't [tell me if I'm wrong on this]).
- I just didn't try to add it to this article because I couldn't retrieve the ID. If there is some way to grab IDs through TP i'd be glad to know. --Txon Atana - (talk) 00:50, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- P.S.: Try it yourself: on TP, just search for Norn, filtering for weapons only, all rarity, all levels. Probably you will find the one I'm talking about.
- tier 1 cultural weapons are avaliable as fine and masterwork drops in the appropriate region, tier 2 cultural weapons are avaliable only as rare drops in the appropriate region. Cultural weapons obtained like this are tradeable. If no one is selling it then its probably one of many bugged items that are showing up on the tp when they shouldn't. I would speculate that this particular item is given to a low level norn npc as a weapon that they wield, and that its impossible for players to get it. In any case, it's a curiosity, but since we can never really know anything about it, I'm not sure if it's worth documenting it at all. Psycho Robot (talk) 00:56, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the enlightenment about culturals. Yes it makes sense not documenting it if info about it is hard to be obtained. However, I'm not sure if it could be a bug with TP though. I'll bring it up again if I get more info about it. I'm not going to add it until more info is obtained then. Thanks for now! --Txon Atana - (talk) 01:09, 6 May 2014 (UTC)
- Here is some update: I got puzzled by the fact this item had high valued orders but no one selling it (it's a blue lvl 5 and people are offering 11 gold for it??) and then I went ahead and searched further more.
- After some research I was able to find how to see TP out of game and ended on this page (requires authentication). Later I found out that GW2Spidy kind of uses that API and I ended on this page that gave me the ID 29258. Using GW2API I tried to retrieve the details for the item here. The result was an error like...

- ...what leads me to conclude that yes, the item doesn't exist in game and TP has a bug regarding it.
- Now there comes a question: would it be good to put a notice or something like in the article telling people about this fact, so they won't be misled and trying to buy it? Or should we just let it be? --Txon Atana - (talk) 00:18, 8 May 2014 (UTC)
- I found 6 fine norn weapons, and I though this was also some hard to find item from some NPC vendor that spawns after an event, but after checking, the IDs of the other fine weapons (29253 29256 29260 29261 29262 29266) check out, while the one for the norn greatsword returns an 'invalid' error, so I removed the item from the list until someone actually finds the item. Maybe there could be bug note at the bottom of the page. MithTalk 10:55, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- It could very well be a karma vendor item, they're still somewhat buggy discovering themselves to the API. —Dr Ishmael 12:04, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- I don't think so. If it does exist, my guess it's that it would have to be some event vendor or some weird vendor that spawns under certain circumstances or some recipe in such a vendor. It has a price, and I've never seen a single item in a karma vendor with a price. MithTalk 23:37, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

- Yay, the wiki stopped notifying me about changes to this page.. :P Anyway, from what I recall I had put up a note on the page mentioning this and before I had suggested putting such note up. Not sure if it was removed or I'm mistaken.--Txon Atana - (talk) 16:55, 29 August 2014 (UTC)
