Create a Table?[edit]

It seems to me that this list as well as the other crafting items will only grow. Should we crate a table to help organize this better and to provide the pages proper room to grow? Markus Ireleus 00:18, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm thinking something like this. Colors can be applied of course.

I don't love the design... but this is far better than the current format — go for it.
Better still would be to create a couple templates that would allow one to input the craft type, the result, up to five ingredients, and so on. This could be reused across all recipes where we find them. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:45, 30 April 2012 (UTC)
I kind of modified the table some. There's already a template up for an individual item, but I think this page should include something for a quick look-kind of feel. Here's my modified table though. I'll see if I can whip up a template sometime.

I see the invisible backpack (doesn't show up in trade windows, effectively preventing any accidental sales)and oiled leather backpacks (white and grey loot will default to this backpack first) aren't listed.

The Invisible backpack is a normal backpack with three dust piles (has to be tier appropiate for whatever tier of backpack)

The oiled leather backpack is a normal backpack with three bone dust (i think). I actually can't remember the exact name and i didn't save any screenshots.

There are variations of the (Simple) items such as Mighty Seeker's Boots (Simple). If you add an other ingredient than the Vial of Weak Blood, you get an other item. I tried it with a Bone Chip for vitality and a Tiny Venom Sac could also be used, but I don't remember what bonus the item received from that. How should that be added on the page? I think it would be best to differentiate the possibilities on the item page. As an example, I edited the Seeker's Mask page. Although the layout could be better than what I did there. Interficiam 21:03, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

I played around with a similar idea on the armorsmith page earlier, but I'll agree this table is much easier on the eyes. There I took cues for the table from places like runes where split rows were used to sort different variations on the same item - if it works for Minor/Major/Superior runes, why not Festering/Vital/Precise armour?

On the topic of the invisible storage, I found an Invisible Bronze Box (or something) for 10 bronze, 3 dust, and an "8 Slot Bronze Padded Equipment Box" for 10 bronze, 3 tiny scales, where weapons and armor defaulted, but I'm not 100% sure of the details lacking screenshots. Should we populate tables to the best of our ability, or wait until we're completely sure of the details? Desdenova 00:26, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

That's strange, I thought I tried making other simple items and it didn't work. For those the bonus stat should be the same as the insignia the extra material is used in. If you look at the Mighty Simples they need Vial of Weak Blood which is also used to make Mighty Jute Insignia. Both the Mighty Simple and the Items that are made with the Mighty Insignia have Power as their bonus stat.
Also I keep seeing this on some of the pages. The Armor Infobox in the top right of the page is for the armor stuff while the recipe infoboxes are about the recipes. I have been seeing the Simple items have Req. Level of 5 in the recipes when they have a req level of 0 for the recipe. The Armor however has a Req level 5 which goes in the armor infobox. Just double check that you are adding recipe specific info to the recipes and armor specific info to the armor infoboxes. It isn't a big problem now but could become one as we add more stuff to the wiki. Thanks. User Mattsta Sig1.jpgUser Mattsta Sig2.jpg 06:03, 3 May 2012 (UTC)
That's good, I'm pretty sure I have been adding recipe/armour info in the correct places then, but some like Mighty_Seeker's_Boots_(Simple) still appear to be off.
As for the simple variants beyond Mighty, I think I made a few simple variants of chain pauldrons in Festering and Healing to speed up levelling, but of course can't go check, and didn't think to take a screenshot. If anyone has confirmation on this that would be great (Interficiam above seems to have made simple boots in other variants), but I'll be sure to doublecheck next beta. It does seem strange to only allow one variant of the low-level armours though; I guess you can move up to the proper stuff involving insignia fairly quickly, but it would still be inconsitent with other armour types. Simple armour only existed as of this BWE too as far as I can tell - just see what happens to it in a month, I guess Desdenova 07:08, 5 May 2012 (UTC)
Something I thought of while on the Armorsmith talk page is maybe my attempt failed because I tried making a Healing/Precise/Resilient and you can't make a Simple version of those. Those are the insignias that you can't make until 25 and the simple could be like a noob version to get you started. I didn't try making simple versions with the new set you get at 75 (wool for leatherworking). I had thought the Simple were this introductory how-to get started so didn't think to try a Simple for the higher level sets, but I could be wrong. User Mattsta Sig1.jpgUser Mattsta Sig2.jpg 00:03, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
Well, I think what we should try to do, is to just stick to the content that we know is in the game. I don't think it's wise to guess at content. I understand that it's hard to check what other people put on the wiki at this point, but I know I wouldn't want to put up any false information or information that I'm not 100% on. Even though it's quick and easy to change stuff, all we will be doing is speculating until the next beta event. My 2 cents. Markus Ireleus 00:13, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
I think you might be right there Mattsta; one of the first things I did upon unlocking the wool insignias was to try making simple versions of them, and it didn't work for any of the second tier trophies. So, if we've got confirmation (or at least something close) that you can make Mighty, Festering and Vital simple items, and we havn't heard anything of people making simple versions of Lvl 25 or Lvl 75 gear, then I say assume you can only make them in Mighty, Festering and Vital for now. After all, chances are they're going to alter some recipes for the next beta based on the player feedback from this one, so I would be more concerned about getting templates and easily modifiable pages up than having 100% accurate information. Desdenova 09:45, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

I unfortunately don't know how to start a new section, so apologies, but if I did, it would be about problems with recipes. I discovered that the recipe for Rune of the Ogre requires a third ingredient (which makes sense, it shares the first 2 with Rune of the Ranger - I don't know what it is, however. I did try all of the first tier Fine Ingredients, as well as all the first tier jewels. But when you get rawhide and onyx slivers into discovery, it says 2 possible recipes, craft button is grayed out, and suggests adding more ingredients. I edited the page to indicate there is a third unknown - used ??? - not sure if there's a better way to indicate that. Another thought vaguely related - links from this page take you to the item, but if you're looking at the item (say, minor rune of the ogre) nothing indicates it's crafted and links back here. Do the powers that be need to set up a framework for that or is it just a matter of going through all the entries and applying a different template? Anghara 15:52, 2 September 2012

Problem on page[edit]

Getting this error when editing Warning: This page contains too many expensive parser function calls.

It should have less than 100 calls, there are now 152 calls. Kenrid 19:18, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

This has been fixed. See Template_talk:Crafting/Item. Markus Ireleus 20:28, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Collapsible Tables[edit]

Should we consider making the tables collapsible? This would reduce the length of the page and make it a bit more readable, I think. It's not really a huge deal, but something to think about. These tables are only going to grow. Markus Ireleus 20:31, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Rather than collapsible tables, I'd suggest 1 page for the Leatherworker -- describe what this is and does in general terms, and another page for leatherworker craftables. This way, people looking for content about letherworkers don't have to wade through the 'here's your 5000 things you can make' list, and people looking for recipies don't have to wade through the 'Here's 5001 things you didn't know about leatherworkers' info-blat. Torrenal 00:53, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Inscriptions[edit]

Since it seems that inscriptions will have multiple variations, (Festering, Mighty, Vital, precise, healing, resilient, etc) I suggest we treat them the same way we are treating different variations of weapons and armor. However this creates another potential problem. How do we reference those specific types of ingredients (the festering, mighty, vital, etc.) if we only have a general ingredient. Should we create a disambiguation page for the general ingredient linking to each individual page? Markus Ireleus 23:35, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Right now we have disambiguation pages for each insignia type, and recipes listed a "Jute Insignia" as a component - we could easily do the same to the insignia types, and have them link/reference a "Tier One Trophy" or "Tiny Trophy" perhaps, instead of being six times longer than they need to be Desdenova 07:14, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Simple/Standard/Master[edit]

I don't think that each level of a certain set needs its own entry here. Simply put the link to Seeker's Boots, for example, where all three levels of that item can be shown. Wombatt 00:15, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Cleanup?[edit]

I've stubbed out a more descriptive (less spammy) version of the Jeweler's page here: User:Torrenal/Sandbox/Jeweler. Mind, while it is a work in progress (I'm not sure what to name things so that a 'doobloon' as a gemstone doesn't confuse people), I have already pulled part of it into the mainspace page for Jeweler, and I think the other profession pages could benefit from a similar format.

Mind, the primary purpose of the Leatherworker page is not to document every single detail and recipe for the tailor. Count on there being about 500 recipes. Instead, it needs to be a document that briefly describes what tailors are and how their crafting profession works. When users delve into actual crafting, you can then have pages like Band and Jeweler Recipes by base material. Please, anyone with time, take a look at building the Leatherworker page so that it does not overload first-time viewers with excessive detail. Use those two pages as a possible template. If it works for leatherworkers, use it. If not, build something different, but the page as it is right now really needs some cleanup. Torrenal 00:49, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Noble's set[edit]

Crafting/Dungeon Set have the same name and thus its ambiguous, the problem should be adressed. How it should be adressed its a bit out of my league tough...

--I have an idea...how about Noble Mask (T2), Noble Mask (T3), or Noble Mask (Wool), Noble Mask (Cotton), etc? Something to reflect the tier of crafting materials used, or something to reflect the type of intricate insignia (intricate wool, intricate cotton) the item uses? It would remove the ambiguity as well as have a naming convention that would allow us to create separate pages for each noble's recipes and stats. Noble Mask (Thin), Noble Mask (Coarse) would work too I guess... Undead minion 03:27, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Intricate Insignia[edit]

On the wiki page its refered as 'Embroidered Insignia(Rare)' , it this correct in any way or it should be changed?

Armor and Bag Reorganization[edit]

I'm working on the Tailor page at the moment, but the ideas I have there would work here and in Armorsmith and I would like to know if anybody supports these ideas. Rather than try and explain them in great detail I made the reworks and put them up in my --Sandbox--. Basically, I feel like the armour section is too large and would benefit greatly from collapsible tables. The Intricate Recipies are still something I'm working on, but at the very least it needed to be removed from the list of pieces they have up there now. The bags are alright, but I feel like we can do better. I'd like to hear your thoughts. --Eidelion 22:24, 16 October 2012 (UTC)

I know I've already commented on the Tailor page, but go for it! :) - anja talk 04:36, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Wasn't sure who all checked which pages so I wanted to make sure I got approval from as many people as possible. I'll start implementing the changes around the 19/20th unless I get a loud "no stop, we don't want that" from more than one person. --Eidelion 17:36, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Astrozintli Forelands[edit]

There should be a master leatherworker at Astrozintli Forelands, but s/he doesn't appear to be there on my world (Ehmry Bay). Could somebody on another server take a look there and if you find them please add them to the list. Cormacr 06:25, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

The leatherworker is indeed missing from Astrozintli, no idea why. However, you can still purchase all needed materials (thread/runes/insignia recipes) from the master tailor or armorsmith. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 13:54, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Black Citadel[edit]

The Leatherworker icon is sometimes hidden under the Black Lion Trader icon. It is in the Northeast section of Canton factorium Separ (talk) 03:18, 19 April 2014 (UTC)
