Talk:Killeen

Do we really need information about how she makes Dougal feel? We can't document the book here as well. I feel some of this information isn't relevant... --Odal talk 16:56, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Yea I agree, I don't think the extract is needed and it reveals spoilers... Or i'll go ahead and make a spoiler tag.... --Naut User Naut Dark Blue Monk.png 16:58, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Unless Killeen is a character we can personally play with, mark this with spoilers and leave it, I guess. - Infinite - talk 17:01, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
The fact that the excerpt is only 11 short pages and that it is linked to in the book's main article to me means we shouldn't worry too much about separating out spoiler content, as long as we continue to keep fact and speculation separate. Arcfire 06:00, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Actually chapters two and three are on the internet, apparently the Ipad has them. EiveTalk 06:07, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
I really don't think we should bother about spoilers. They become a nuisance over on GWW and honestly next to everything will be a spoiler. Just don't go off into unnecessary bits from the books when describing things from them. For instance, explaining what Killeen does with the trap or what happened to her in chapter 2 - unnecessary. -- Konig/talk 06:28, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Konig, if we do actually decide to use spoiler tags for it, perhaps we should make a specific GoA "spoiler" tag, saying something like: Content on this page references the novel Ghosts of Ascalon and may contain spoilers. EiveTalk 07:03, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Dealing with spoilers and relevance to Guild Wars 2, how much detail should be provided in this page? I can assume she will have little to do with the games storyline due to information revealed towards the end of the book, but should this still be mentioned on the page? Ptarmigan
Keep spoilers out. Which is pretty much just what we got, unless I forget something. -- Konig/talk 08:40, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Too late. someone got one in. I think we should revert out the spoiler. --Xerelin 16:59, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Night[edit]

So I haven't dedicated much time to GoA yet; that being said, is there any reference to Killeen being aligned with winter, or is she just mentioned as being born of the Cycle of Night?-- Shew 17:11, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

No they didn't mention anything about winter, just the Cycle of Night. They really didn't relate much to specific game mechanics, but the time of day to time of year correlation seems more like a lore tidbit so it probably holds true in the story, though nothing much comes of it.Arcfire 21:29, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
As Arcfire said, the whole time of day=season thing is most likely purely lore. I doubt that if you wanted to make a winter sylvari you had to wait until nighttime to make the character, after all. So Night=Winter (or, gw1:Season of the Colossus). -- Konig/talk 02:54, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Cycle and Season will surely not be tied to real world time of creation. It will just be one of the parts of that 10 question survey they have talked about in their new character creation system. Cycle and Season will be similar to how the norn have different totem spirits to revere, the humans have different homelands to hail from, the charr have three allied legions to choose from, and the asura have their three colleges of the eternal alchemy under which they can study. It's all a way to vary the degree of customization by another level by giving us 'subraces'. Arcfire 03:47, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
I don't know why you guys made the assumption that I was thinking you'd have to wait until a certain time of day to align a sylvari with a season. I know that's definitely not the case. :p I was wondering about this because I was still curious as to if the time of day produces a seasonal alignment or if you can align a sylvari with a season or time of day. From what we've gathered in articles, the former seems to be the case, but I didn't see any reference to Killeen's seasonal alignment in the book, so I was reconsidering that option. Thanks!-- Shew 13:59, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Oh, well that is a more valid question lol. My guess would be that you are stuck with night -> winter according to what has been reported on the page. if enough people bitch about it Anet might change their mind though :P It might be heavily tied into the sylvari lore, who knows. Best go put it in the feedback section and see if they say anything. Arcfire 01:35, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
In lore, time of day produces a seasonal alignment. As far as we know, at least. In mechanics, choosing one chooses the other but there is no restriction or requirements to choose, from what we know. There is no either or.-- Konig/talk 01:53, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
lol, this is a pretty stupid discussion to be honest. Obviously you don't have to create your sylvari at a certain time of day to determine their time of birth, because your character isn't being born at character creation. I'm pretty sure your Sylvari is not marching off to face dragons from the moment of their birth, and it's assumed they have been around for some time before the game actually begins... 216.185.250.92 20:14, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

By Far...[edit]

My favourite character in the book, I just finished reading it this morning. So I won't give out any spoilers, but the whole idea of this character is just amazing. Just strengthens my choice of Sylvari in GW2 :D --Naut User Naut Dark Blue Monk.png 11:48, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

Events of Dragonbrand made me sadface.  :'-( --User Phnzdvn sig.pnghnzdvn 01:17, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
I know.... Killeen you're my hero!!! Q_Q --AmannelleUser Amannelle Me.jpg 01:19, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
She was indeed a very great character, provided a lot of new info on the sylvari, and set a great example of what they should be like as a race. Arshay Duskbrow 03:33, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
I agree. Her character definitely made me more interested in Sylvari. However, I thing GW2 has a thing for female Sylvari Necromancers supposedly in the night cycle. haha I'd like to hear from more Male sylvari. I wonder if they're as sweet as Killeen or possibly a bit more aggressive or what. --Spigs 23:06, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Quite true, I think sylvari is the only race for which we haven't had a male example presented. I wonder how they will be portrayed, or rather in what ways they might behave differently to their female counterparts? And by the way... technically speaking, if sylvari are all born of the Pale Tree, why do they need males and females? Plants have a variety of ways to reproduce, but the closest to male and female plants that I am aware of are the different parts of a flower. I suppose the Pale Tree has flowers that bear fruit that a sylvari eventually grows out of... so might it be that, as opposed to humans who start with no gender and then express one or another, perhaps the sylvari start with BOTH genders and then one gradually atrophies? Can they even bear children of their own? Have none of them lived long enough to actually pull it off? All interesting questions... Arcfire 03:47, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Talking about Plant sex?--Miteshu 02:35, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Absolutely, I'm just finding ways to occupy myself until they release some more info Arcfire 13:44, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Pubertree.--NeilUser Neil2250 sig icon5 Anti.png 13:50, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Anet is most likely including both genders for each race in order to give the player more options. Of course, a single/no gender race of sentient plants would be far more realistic, we aren't really aiming for realism here i.e. magic. Ptarmigan 16:29, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Oh boy, If the Sylvari are god damn sexy, Who knows how much porn will follow after it?--Miteshu 18:28, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to burst your bubble, but as far as we know, it is purely imitation. :P Darkshine 03:50, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
It is imitation, but I'm sure you've heard of furries... Do you think any of that's real? ~~ User Kiomadoushi sig.png Kiomadoushi 04:48, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
Oh. Right. *shudders* Darkshine 14:00, 30 May 2011 (UTC)

Where Dougal Met Killeen[edit]

Didn't he meet her in Divinity's Reach? I know that he met Gyda in a 2nd story room of a Tavern in Divinity's Reach (I'm guessing the one in the Salma District). This meeting occurred because Clagg hired them all. Wouldn't this mean he met Killeen there, not underground? 98.23.56.203 00:36, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Grave[edit]

It says "She was buried at a northwest portion of the Dragonbrand." So... D'you think we might be able to visit her grave once we get ingame, or they'll be a little marker or something indicating where she died? I would totally love ANet for doing this... Foxy Hood 17:59, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

I remember talking with someone about this and yes I'd love it too! and please sign your comments user four tidles (~~~~) --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 17:35, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
It'd be like when we get to visit The Temple of the Ages, just one of those little things that the original Guild Wars fans (or more hard core fans, whatever you want to call it hah) can enjoy. And sorry, my bad, totally forgot :P Foxy Hood 17:57, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
yeah I'd love seeing things return <3 all those memorable places we've seen in the mystique world of Tyria :D --you like that don't you..The Holy Dragons 18:13, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
