The patch seems a little large for no content updates. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.26.124.161 (talk • contribs).

That's just what they want you to think. Felix Omni Signature.png 19:28, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
Someone says this every time. Pretty much any game update requires the download of 9 core files, which total ~50 MB, so that's the smallest update size you'll probably ever see. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 19:31, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
What's your point Ishmael? If these "9 core files" are being updated, then that means something was changed, so he's still correct. I'm quite curious myself why files must be downloaded if there are no changes. I'm beginning to get the feeling that ArenaNet is fixing broken events with these "maintenance updates" and not posting update notes about them, perhaps out of the desire to remain quiet about the number of bugged events. Or maybe that's just what I'm hoping these 50mb "maintenances" are. After all, it wouldn't be a lie if this is the case; fixing bugs does not constitute a "content update." 174.35.247.117 19:35, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
Broken events can't be fixed client-side, that's entirely a server-side issue, so your argument is moot.
As for why these 9 files always have be downloaded, I don't know for certain. The most likely explanation is that they are compiled programs that contain the build number as an internal variable, so that any time the live build number changes (which changes for any game program update, whether client- or server-side), these compiled programs change by a byte or two and have to be updated. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 19:54, 19 February 2013 (UTC)
Actually, my argument is not moot, because you are making a blatant assumption that no client files have to be changed to fix events. It could very well be that an event breaking is triggered by bugs in the client. 174.35.247.117 03:56, 26 February 2013 (UTC)
There are many techincal reasons for having to compile 9 files together (Dr ishmael's been one). You can change "code" without changing content. The "content" is not in the source code. HimmTaeguk (T/C) 20:04, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Someone clamored for event fixes: the Bria quest line in Iron Marches seems to be patched Nbaird2 01:25, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

It'll be good for another week or so, sure. The bugs that "stall" events usually surface after the event has been run a large number of times. Resetting the servers, which happens whenever there's a game update, restores these events to their initial state, which means they work again... for a while. This is why they perform maintenance updates in between content patches. —Dr Ishmael User Dr ishmael Diablo the chicken.png 03:27, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
It looks like they removed "Level 1" from low-level items. I posted about these dropping from level 30 mobs in the bugs forum over the weekend. I guess it's a way of hiding some internal glitches with the reward scaling. Cboyd 05:26, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
Nah. There's still both "level 1" and "level 0" items. Level 0 items show no level. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 21:25, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

They finally implemented the forced password change - which explains the patcher update. Thesword 22:14, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
