Talk:Gain X Based on Y
Temporary Attribute Bonuses Count[edit]
Additional attribute points from traits such as Strength in Numbers and stat-stacking Sigils counted. I ran an experiment using my Guardian who has Strength in Numbers, Symbolic Avenger, and Kindled Zeal. I was switching him from Superior Sigil of Momentum to Superior Sigil of the Stars, so I decided to monitor his stats for the purpose of this topic. Quick checks while he had no stacks, full stacks, and whether in or out of combat, showed increases in stats more than what his base, static attributes provided. I could tell it was Strength in Numbers because the trait's buff would turn off after combat. As for the sigils, I received more Power as Momentum provided me with additional Toughness, and I got more than the +50 to Power (Symbolic Avenger) and +50 Condition Damage (Kindled Zeal) Stars gave. Adding this info as Notes on this page. --Messenger (talk) 19:17, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Bonuses Do Not Count For Other Bonuses[edit]
(Following my experiment in "Temporary Attriibute Bonuses Count".) Note, however, that bonuses gained cannot contribute to further bonuses where it's possible to have two "Gain X based on Y" effects that intersect. In my guardian's case, Symbolic Avenger and Kindled Zeal may look like it could chain (Toughness -> Power -> Condition Damage). However, I did not receive any stat increases that would indicate such. Any "X based on Y" bonuses I could account for and did not chain further. Adding this info as Notes on this page. --Messenger (talk) 19:17, 24 June 2018 (UTC)
Feedback 2023/02/28[edit]
Using the word "conversion" makes it seem like the target attribute will be increased *at the expense* of the converted attribute. For example, if I started with 100 power and 100 vitality, then used a rune that "converts 5% of vitality to power", "converted" sounds like I would have 105 power and 95 vitality after using the rune. In all of my reading (through several articles and forums), it is not clear if the aforementioned example is what happens or if instead the converted attribute is unchanged while adding to the target attribute, e.g. 100pow+100vit --> 105pow+100vit. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 23.243.186.182 (talk) at 23:51, 28 February 2023 (UTC).
