Talk:Crest
It looks to me like crests (if this is the official term) will give bonuses depending on how many identical crests are applied to pieces of armor. Take a look at this screenshot: [1] It says (4/6), and the first four bonuses are highlighted. This tells me that if this crest is applied, it will change to (5/6), and the fifth bonus will then take effect. --Emelend 00:57, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- So in a way you can make your own "sets of armour" out of what ever you own. I like that, a lot actually. I wonder if they are removable since that Crest costs 67 gold coins if sold to merchant, which is supposedly a considerable sum. Biz 22:09, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- High five, we called it over a month ago. :)
- Now something of interest from the article: "In the following example, this is a cloth crest that a Tailor could make for light armor." It sounds like crests will be player craftable. --Emelend 13:57, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Awesome. I have a feeling my GW2 bank is going to be even more full than my gw1 bank is. And that is saying something. Zolann The Irreverent 19:05, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
Naming[edit]
Are we certain they are called crests, because I believe this is taken from the first in an interview named item: Crest of the Legion, but there is also the Mark of the Legion (see linkie in the first comment), which acts nearly identical, so it doesn't seem very Anet-like to me to name it after one item, while the other is the same item type, but has a completely different name.--Mark, het Beest 09:07, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Crest is for scholar professions, Mark is for adventurers, iirc. --Kyoshi (Talk) 14:00, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Okey, but shouldn't we be only be adding the light armor ones here then, as the others aren't crests, but marks and talismans?--Mark, het Beest 18:16, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- The recent blog post seems to imply that "crest" is the name for these things you put on armor, no matter which type it is. If that also happens to be the name for the scholar armor crests, that's going to be a bit confusing. Manifold 18:46, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- When I read the blog post it gives me the idea that he only uses it as an example, like in the item and that it could be replaced by crest of the legion in any sentence.--Mark, het Beest 20:44, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
- Methinks FAQ post incoming sometime soon. Or maybe someone could ask on Guru about it. --Kyoshi (Talk) 05:52, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm, I am also inclined that the term crest should not be the title of this article. I suggest "Enhancements". "a crest is an upgrade component that is used to enhance light armor pieces" Venom20 04:00, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- If crest is a specific term, they've sure gone out of their way to avoid using the general term. It's always been the example so far. "However, the player can enhance their armor by applying crests to their armor. A crest is an upgrade component with unique abilities that can be applied to the open upgrade slot on any of your six light armor pieces." is an odd way to talk armor in general. I think "enhance" is just being used in the general "made better" sense, personally. Manifold 04:09, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- The term crest is only being used in reference to light armor. It makes no sense to have other pieces listed on this article then. I think that this article can be left as is but with a name change, or we make three articles: crests, marks,. talismans. Venom20 04:30, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
