Guides[edit]

Do we want guides for each of the collections or do we want users to individually click through all the links to put it together? Traveller (talk) 04:49, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

I think, due to the size and huge nature of the collections, we should make people go through links. Just for the sake of organization. Event boss (map icon).pngDav 07:16, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Fractal Weapons[edit]

A guildie found a Fractal weapons collection, which is only unlocked when you unlock a skin after the patch. Existing weapons do not seem to work to unlock this collection. I'll test it as soon as the Fractal RNG Gods provide me one as well. Qiff (talk) 14:55, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

Can you get a screen shot of the collection in the UI? Or get your guildie to post one? It would be useful to verify and document the collection accurately. Traveller (talk) 21:27, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
Could not get a hold of a screenshot and have not been able to test this myself. As the fractal collection is merely a rumor, I will stick to the most reasonable explanation: my guildie mistook the collection for something else. Qiff (talk) 10:02, 4 November 2014 (UTC)

Unlocking Collections[edit]

Someone removed the information that states that the dungeon collections are hidden until you obtain a piece of the dungeon set. That makes them hidden collections, regardless of how trivially easy you might think it is to unlock them. A new account will not see those collections until obtaining a piece of them. Edit: This was supposed to go on the Basic Collections talk page, not this one. Traveller (talk) 21:26, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

Table Format[edit]

Since a lot of these collections would benefit from use of tables to show item type, rarity, location and how they're available, maybe it would be worthwhile to generate a new template for collections using the Achievement header color? I don't know how to use the magic vendor templates however I noticed that they don't seem to be able to display items that aren't available from vendors. In the meantime, personally I would like to use a standard table and just fill it in. Nefara (talk)

Not all collections unlocked after update?[edit]

Before the update I had a couple weapons unlocked from the krait and hylek series (the latter is Beaded), but the collections haven't unlocked in my tab yet. I'm pretty sure they will once I add more weapons, but wouldn't they supposed to be unlocked already? Other collections like Lovestruck did unlock under the same circumstances. ~ Sanna Talk page 12:24, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

There are a few collections which need a key item to unlock the collections. They are listed at Basic Collections. Any skins you have get retroactively added to that collection when you unlock it. Tyndel (talk) 13:42, 21 September 2014 (UTC)

Notes[edit]

I see in the notes that it says that items that are part of a collection have it in their description, but I just looted Occultist Flame and have several in that collection already, yet it did not say it was a part of that collection. Is this an exception? Puk (talk) 09:51, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

If an item is already unlocked in a collection, it will no longer display "Collectible" in the description. If you haven't unlocked Occultist Flame yet it's a bug. Tyndel (talk) 11:03, 27 February 2015 (UTC)

6/9/15 Update[edit]

Now Collections are (mostly) made visible and the requirements for unlocking them are posted in the same window. I haven't been able to see the net effect of this since I'm not able to log in here at work, but this page needs an update. SarielV 20 x 20px 19:08, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Can all collection items be safely used, sold or destroyed after being added to their collections?[edit]

I've been told in game that once an item has been registered in a collection, the player will not need to keep that item in their inventory or bank or on another character - that the item can be used, consumed, sold, traded in for other items, or destroyed, and it will still count towards the collection and whatever that collection gives. This rule, and any known exceptions to this rule (are there any?), should be covered in this article.

A few collection items have something like "The item can safely be sold after acquiring it." noted in their wiki entry, but only a few. In some collections, like the Luminate's Backplate collection, some of the items have that note in their wiki entry and some do not, making the player wonder if those items without the note are not safe to sell. Notes like this are reassuring to the player when they are there, but need to be consistent across all collection item wiki entries if that method is going to be used; this would be labor intensive to the wiki, unless it was somehow included in the Collections template.

Not all collection items are trophies; some items are part of a collection and have instructions in their in-game descriptions that they can be turned in for something else not related to the collection, such as the Mordrem Teragriff Kidney, and have no mention of whether it is safe to the collection to do that, either in-game or in their wiki articles. --50.35.67.240 22:45, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

As a followup, I'm going to note some comments and complaints from a recent forum thread.

1. "As long as the item is Account Bound and/or noted as part of your collection, you can delete them without worry." (Is this always true?)
2. Legendary collection items. For example, one of the items for "A Henge Away From Home" is the Ignis Runestone; to make that, you need 16 Druid Runestones; in the wiki entry for Druid Runestone, I found this note: "Many trophies like this, that are required for a collection or achievement, can be discarded. However, this one is required to be given away in order to complete The Druid Stone. Even more are required for the other steps of that legendary path." In the box in the upper right of the wiki entry for Druid Runestone, it is linked as a Collection item, but it's really not. Maybe these legendary crafting components need a new category on the wiki, like, "Collection Ingredient" or "Legendary Component" or "Scavenger Hunt"?
3. Some collection items, like all of those for "Nevermore I: Ravenswood Branch", require you to type the item name to delete them. That makes it seem dangerous to delete them.
4. Grandmaster Craftsman Hobbs can replace a lot of Legendary collection items (all of them?); presumably the ones that are listed in the collections but not the items needed to make the collection items.

I did finally find the "Scavenger hunt" entry on the wiki, with a short list of things like Mawdrey that require collecting a lot of things that do not have a collection achievement and so must be kept, and it mentions that legendary collections have "sub scavenger hunts".

I know this is getting complicated but one of the worst struggles of a new player is figuring out what they can keep and what they can get rid of. --50.35.67.240 00:34, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Almost always, if not always, if you need an item for a later or second purpose, you'll be able to re-obtain the item in question. Most collection items have a singular use (this is not always so, more like 85% of the time), and those that have multiple uses will continue to be obtainable until all uses have been fulfilled.
