Talk:Boon Duration
Maximizing boon duration[edit]
Boon duration from equipment: its not possible to put a doubloon AND a rune together onto one armor piece. But in the table you added the values from both together. you can maximum reach a subtotal of 68% --81.217.193.207 16:41, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Correct Duration of Boons[edit]
Is boon duration being calculated properly with the new Giver's armor and Snowflake trinkets? I have a full set of Exotic lvl 80 Giver's armor with Superior Runes of Altruism on each (6x1% from armor set + 15% from runes = +21% boon duration) and a set of 5 Exotic Snowflake trinkets of Winter ((2x1% on each trinket) x5 trinkets (2 earrings, 2 rings, 1 amulet) = +10% boon duration) and a maxed Warrior Tactics trait line that gives another +30% boon duration. In total that should be +61% boon duration, but boons are only boosted by roughly +45% boon duration. For example, when I use the Warrior warhorn skill "Charge" that gives a base boon duration of 10 seconds, it is only boosted to 14.5 seconds, and the shout "For Great Justice!" (Fury base duration 8sec, Might base duration 25 sec) they are only boosted to Fury 11.5 sec and Might 36.25 sec. Where is the 15-16% of boon duration that is missing? I am guessing that this is a bug with the Wintersday gear. 72.235.140.136 06:50, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- Upon further testing, I've found that the +45% boon duration I have is coming only from the +30% from my trait line and +15% from the third effect of the Superior Rune of Altruism. The +1% boon duration on the trinkets, the jewels on the trinkets, and armor pieces themselves are not adding any boon duration at all. 72.235.140.136 11:17, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
- Tested just now, Giver's armor properly gives the boon duration. Have not checked weapons and trinkets, but I would assume that they are fixed as well. Removing the bug on main page. Esplen The Master of Bei Shun 12:38, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
- Just kidding, I realized that it shows in the panel correctly. I don't have enough data to confirm that it works yet. Esplen The Master of Bei Shun 12:40, 16 February 2013 (UTC)
Boon Duration??[edit]
- 2x Sup Rune of the Monk, 15% boon duration
- 2x Sup Rune of the Water, 15% boon duration
- 2x Minor Rune of Sanctuary, 5% boon duration
- Would they stack to 35% boon duration? 124.191.60.179 16:47, 16 November 2012 (UTC)
- Yes they do. You can stack boonduration up to +90% with traits, runes and bufffood. --Inoshiro 21:36, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

Questions[edit]
I have a two questions regarding the article and boon duration:
- About the tibit with the concentration, where in the game or other media is that mentioned, where does it come from?
- Who does the increased duration apply to? If I got +10% boon duration and use a shout that applies 10 seconds of aegis to nearby allies, who would get 11 seconds? Only me? Everyone effected? And what if they got +10% boon duration? Elch 23:15, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
max durations for specific skills[edit]
skills seem to have a limit on how much a boon can stack up to, the ones that stacks = extra time. this either causes the next reapplication that sends passed the limit to not add, or give reduced benefit in duration for the specific trigger. so far its not consistent on that part (possibly due that i limit or only have one or two sources at a time) but it is consistent to how much maximum duration boosts listed on main page.
for example a ranger trying to stack fern hound's regen gain (no compassion training, pets do not benefit from player's stats) and healing spring with a total of 50% boost to duration will only provide up to a 44 seconds. while a healing spring alone with 103% duration boost total will stack up to 51 seconds (or ~60 when adding the fern hound).
similar situation is from warrior's trait that grants regen from banners; minimal dur boost is 30% and that causes up to 34 seconds when placing multiple banners to rush stack the effects or 48 seconds via 80% (combined max regen duration boost warriors can get in pvp). 96.15.132.81 19:53, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Testing on 7/7/2015 with 2 boon share Mesmers each using triple signets of inspiration via mimic and traits resulted in quickly hitting these hard caps for these boons:
- Regen 2min 46sec
- Fury 1min 23sec
- Protection 1min 23sec
- Quickness 15seconds
Perhaps we should consider a hard cap boon duration chart on the main page. 68.169.141.225 02:19, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
- It's probably a limit to the number of stacks. What skills/traits provided the boons, and what were the base durations? —Dr Ishmael 02:30, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
chart(s?)[edit]
wonder how hard, clumsy, or large a full chart for maximizing each of the boons will be and if actually useful. as of the ref note, it makes things both clear and wanting more. i'm partially for blame but... yeah want to fix by being through. should this chart be copied over with the important edits/differences or should we make multiple on this page or sub-charts or what?
- thankfully vigor, aegis, and stability use the current chart.
- guardians can get a +25% to retail.
- swiftness and might just swaps to respective runes for a +15%.
- protection and regen does a swap out too but only two and one type(s) of runes respectively so +5 for both (+5% more for protection if a bug is fixed), plus a ranger trait for regen +33%.
- mesmers get a +10% to everything. 65.40.217.226 19:27, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
"Boon Duration cannot be increased beyond 90%."[edit]
...and then the table below shows how to get it to 148%. One of those pieces of content is incorrect or unclear.--Ph03n1x (talk) 00:09, 23 October 2013 (UTC)
+100% is the real maximum[edit]
I corrected the 90% into 100%.
If you don't beleve me please try it out. But take a stop watch, the remaining time which is shown ends one second AFTER it shows 0 secs. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.78.250.112 (talk) at 21:13, 31 October 2013 (UTC).
Stacking with Specific Boon Duration[edit]
Are traits/runes/etc that increase the duration of a specific boon (like might) limited by the same 90 or 100%? So can I spec up +100% boon duration, then take something that increases might duration to get a 120% duration (or stack multiplicative), or what? 152.18.124.148 01:28, 3 November 2013 (UTC)
- I too have this question. The Guardian Virtues trait line has Virtue of Retribution which increases retaliation duration by 25%. Does that mean I can take boon duration up to 100%, and then add an additional 25% for 125% retaliation duration? Or is it hard capped at a 100% duration increase, therefore would be best to take my boon duration up to 75%? ~Mervil 22:00, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
New Chart for HoT[edit]
The chart is no longer even close to accurate with the release of HoT content, since the new 4 attribute armor stats like Commander's renders the current chart obsolete. I believe the new armor sets give as much as 20+% boon duration in addition to what is possible already now, and I am not counting accessories. Has anyone done the math and can show what the new maximum would be using the new armor sets for boon duration? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Freedan (talk • contribs).
- I've updated the table. AFAIK, there are no ascended 4A trinkets (yet), so I listed exotic trinkets. I'll do the same for Condition Duration now. —Dr Ishmael 16:51, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- Huh, condition duration doesn't have a maximizing table. It also doesn't state whether it caps at 100% or not. Guess I'll just leave it alone, then. —Dr Ishmael 16:53, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- As far as I am aware, condition duration does cap at 100% identical to its counterpart, boon duration. You mentioned there are no 4A trinkets. At least as a supposition, what would be the totals if we had them as well, assuming we do indeed see them?
- Huh, condition duration doesn't have a maximizing table. It also doesn't state whether it caps at 100% or not. Guess I'll just leave it alone, then. —Dr Ishmael 16:53, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
- Rings have the same attribute values as leggings (armor) and amulets the same as one-hand weapons, so that's an increase of +3 on the amulet and +2 on each ring. Accessories don't correspond to any other equipment, but we can make a guess: on 3A equipment, accessories increase by the same amount as rings, so that might be the same case here. That gets us to +11 Concentration for a total of 546 Concentration from equipment. With rounding, that doesn't increase the final boon duration from equipment at all (36.4 versus 35.67). —Dr Ishmael 04:48, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- That is good to be able to consider the math shows its hardly worth it! I would think that would push peeps away from them for accessories though, so I have a suspicion the concentration might be higher at 5 or 10 each. When you calculated the original numbers, did you do so assuming the accessories are Snowflake accessories, which give 1% boon duration each(in addition to the possible 4% from Platinum Doubloons?)
- I don't know how to edit things here but the table shows 8 doubloons and ascended trinkets but ascended trinkets can't be slotted with doubloons as far as I know. I'm not sure if exotic 4-stat trinkets with doubloons or ascended 4-stat trinkets is better. Also shouldn't this also include the 33% from sigil of concentration, everyone can use it, with 2 of them it's 7/9 uptime if you switch weapons on cooldown. Not sure if its temporary nature stops it from qualifying for the table though.
- The current table doesn't look correct. The total concentration from ascended trinkets disagrees with the total listed on the equipment page; furthermore, even if it's correct, that's not compatible with the platinum doubloons that are added in later (even universal upgrades don't fit in infusion slots, unless I'm much mistaken). I believe the best you could do is exotic trinkets, which (again, according to equipment) should give 224 concentration without the jewels, which is 90 points less than the table lists, which means -6 points of boon duration, which means you cannot reach 100% boon duration from equipment alone (you need at least one skill, trait, or consumable). Am I overlooking anything? --Felbryn (talk) 19:42, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
Feedback 2016/09/19[edit]
The Maximizing Boon Duration table is incorrect. It states using Ascended Trinkets, and then says to put plat doubloons in place of the jewel... Ascended trinkets can't take jewels/doubloons. So, the Trinkets would have to be exotic, and thus have a slightly lower total bonus to Concentration. 72.14.37.224 18:46, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
It's also worth noting that you cannot put 2 plat doubloons in a 2-handed weapon... you can put a plat and a gold doubloon, though. 73.254.145.186 02:04, 21 September 2016 (UTC)

Feedback 2016/11/03[edit]
Page lists that you receive 308 Concentration from ascended trinkets (accurate, just confirmed myself), but then proceeds to use that calculation in addition to using 6 platinum doubloons on trinkets as well. This information conflicts, as you cannot put any slotted items onto ascended trinkets. Suggest updating the numbers to account for the difference between Ascended Trinkets, and Exotic Trinkets with Platinum Doubloons.

I've reworked the max boon duration build on page as the info was either incomplete, faulty or in error or impossible to recreate.[edit]
I hope it's more detailed now. Ascended gear with exotic trinkets are better then full ascneded.
I have several builds using high boon duration (yes,Commanders chrono, but more important WvW Minstel ele and Commander's Guardian.) I found through trial and error the exotic earrings/amulet weapon having 1 doubloon each leaves me acces to 150 AR while losing 2 slots 18 slots (2*3 +10 on rings) and (2*2 (weapon/backpiece and 6 armor for +9's) cost increase for AR is about double the cost for normal AR based upon 6*+9 and 12 *+8....
As for maximum boon duration, it's pretty useless I might consider maximized boon duration more important (Most effective way to gain perma boon duration would be 70% from gear and 30 from food, best way to get rotational/ supported gear would be with a 37% from gear and 30% from food with acces to either sigil of concentration or Naturalistic resonance from a revenant. Gain of the second option would be more gear dedicated to Damage output.....)

Maximize boon duration[edit]
The big table at the end shows the optimum gear for Boon Duration. However, it appears to not take into account Diviner's gear, which should end up between the four-attribute gear and the three-attribute gear listed. Is that because Diviner's is so new? Daddicus (talk) 22:30, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
