Unlinking events[edit]
I disagree with this change by User:Nightsky. I feel that, minor as these events are, they deserve their own articles. They have ids and related NPCs and objects which would be useful to document, and creating infoboxes for them would allow other articles in the wiki to automatically reference them, for example via {{area events}}. We also have to create articles for them anyway, if only as redirects, because users will likely try searching for the specific events by name. Finally, it's not consistent with how we normally document meta events, and I just don't feel like this case warrants an exception. —Idris 01:26, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- I kind of like the table, but would agree to link to the side events with their own pages with extra info more than just a "how to participate". I agree with the maintain to tradition of more pages, but also since they are side events nestled in a larger event it is easier for users to have 1 page open that explains everything than 15ish tabs that they have to cycle through as events crop up....randomly. --HeroineDark (talk) 05:21, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah, I understand the appeal of using a summary table on one page. Making separate articles to document each event doesn't necessarily mean we can't also use a summary table, though. —Idris 05:22, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- Cool! btw I'm kinda new to the wiki community, is there a way to introduce myself properly? Like I noticed the musical styles for the event was like "oh this is like Giriff's War type stuff, I gotta add trivia back into the wiki community!" And then I was super happy no one took it down.... thanks. --HeroineDark (talk) 05:44, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hah, yeah, trivia is tricky because it's so subjective; it can be hard to tell the difference between intentional reference and seeing what you want to see, sometimes, and different editors can disagree on where to draw the line. That said, apparently the next Guild Chat is going to be all about Metal Legion, so hopefully we'll get some confirmation on their influences then. :) —Idris 06:19, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
- Hey there. I'm uncertain on how to exactly make Pages for Events but i've tryed to put them together here. I would apprecheate it if You could maybe have a look at it and let me know about anything off before i (or someone else) would put them on their dedicated Pages. (Feel free to edit things over there.) As for weather or not the Table is there, i put it there because i rather had the Table there which is something other than nothing. I tried. If it's a problem i don't mind it being removed. Nightsky (talk) 03:52, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
- It's ok, we don't necessarily have to make event pages -- what I wrote above is just my opinion. Your summary table is good, I like it, I just want the events to have their own articles as well. That said, I asked about this on the wiki discord, and a few folks actually seemed to be in favor of not bothering with event pages. If you do feel like you want to make them, you're free to -- your mockup looks good, but don't worry about getting stuff wrong, a more experienced editor can always come along to fix it up for you. :) Just make sure you give them all their own articles instead of lumping them together like that, though! I think it might break some things if we put multiple infoboxes on one page. —Idris 04:14, 23 September 2019 (UTC)
