Rhell Crankmane is a charr found near the Oldgate Clearing in Diessa Plateau. He starts the event Defend Rhell Crankmane while he sets up his ghost control machines.
Locations[edit]
- Oldgate Clearing - waiting for event
- Ruins of Oldgate - while on event
Dialogue[edit]
- That should do it. I'm ready to set up my machine. This is going to be exciting. Amazing. Hope I live to see it. (if escort event is available)
- I've developed a new machine that takes complete control of the ghosts. Once I finish these final preparations, I'll just need help setting it up. (otherwise)
- Me too. Let's go and set it up. (if escort event is available)
- What does the machine do?
- I call it the "ghost control machine". I basically added a few modifications to a regular ghost containment unit. Now it emits a sound at an ethereal level that the ghosts can't resist.
- Sound interesting. I'll help. (if escort event is available)
- So it just paralyzes the ghosts?
- Any charr with a screwdriver and a containment unit can paralyze a ghost. I…am an artist. You'll have to wait for the big unveiling to see how it works.
- Then I'll watch your back while you do. Let's go. (if escort event is available)
- And nothing can go wrong?
- Well, if the ghosts do enough damage, the machine will break down. (if escort event is available)
- Well, if the ghosts do enough damage, the machine will break down. And it runs on a limited power source, so it'll eventually stop on its own. But until then... well, you'll see. (otherwise)
- Then let's go set it up. (if escort event is available)
- But if it doesn't kill them, what good does it do?
- We were stationed here to eliminate ghosts. But since there's no way to get rid of them permanently, my machine neutralizes them at least temporarily to give the soldiers a break.
- Then let's go set it up. (if escort event is available)
- I see. Thanks for the explanation.
- Okay, I'll let you get back to work then.
- Then I should let you get back to work.
- Sounds like you need to concentrate. I'll leave you alone.
- Why do you need this machine? (if escort event is available) (Same as "We were stationed here to eliminate...")
- But if it just paralyzes them, what good does it do? (otherwise) (Same as "We were stationed here to eliminate...")
- Wish I could stay to see it, but I have to go. (if escort event is available)
- Sounds like a great idea. I'll come back later to see it in action. (otherwise)
- During the event
- Ah, good. I need someone to keep the ghosts away while I set up my machines. Once I get them set up, the ghosts won't be a problem. But until then, they'll be on me like ghosts on a charr.
- Let's go. I'll cover you.
- When the event is finished
- My ghost control machine is a masterpiece. Just look at the ghosts. They're under its control!
- Ghost control machine?
- It used to be a regular ghost containment unit but I did a little tinkering. Now it emits a sound at an ethereal level that the ghosts can't resist.
- That's incredible. And the ghosts can't do anything about it?
- No...unless they can do enough damage to make it break down. The machine also runs on limited power, so once the juice runs out, the machine shuts down.
- I understand. Thanks for the explanation.
- That's great, keep up the good work.
- Good work.
Trivia[edit]
- At one point while setting up the second machine, Rhell sings the following line: "Oh, the hip bone's connected to the ankle bone." This is a reference to the Skeleton Dance in the game Monkey Island 2, where one puzzle involves skeletons which have their bones connected in weird ways.
