Dialogue[edit]
For previous dialogue, see here.
- First time talking
- It's an energy smorgasbord out here. The Priory has been mobilized since the word "boo." With Halloween on our doorstep, Kryta is positively rife with spectral spottings.
- (If a member of the Durmand Priory)
- I'm a member of the Durmand Priory. How can I help?
- (Otherwise)
- I'd love to help out. Tell me how.
- Phantom-tastic! Ha, right. So, our scholars were on the verge of a miraculous find: the actual biography of the Mad King himself! Unfortunately, there were several details left out.
- That is exciting. What do you plan to do?
- We've co-opted a bit of archived tech that scans for very old energy. With our upgrades, the device now scans four categories of "oldness": water, gas, solids, and ether.
- (If Statics asura)
- The VOED? My krewe invented that.
- Indeed! Let me toss you a bird with more information and your very own scanner. We're missing six key moments from the Mad King's life. Report back when you've found them all!
- This is going to be fun.
- (for all)
- So I use this scanner to find bits of his life story and report back?
- Indeed! Let me toss you a bird with more information and your very own scanner. We're missing six key moments from the Mad King's life. Report back when you've found them all!
- This is going to be fun.
- Perhaps later, I'll check back.
- Too complicated for me.
- I was actually joking about the whole helping out part.
- Not interested right now.
- Second time talking before completing Mad Mementos
- Ah, <Character name>! How progresses the hunt for the Mad King's biography?
- (If you do not have a Candy-Powered Matter Meter Mk2 in your inventory)
- I seem to have misplaced my matter meter. Can I have another?
- Oh, certainly! You really should keep a hold on this, though. Our supplies are not infinite.
- I'll do my best. Thanks. (Receives Candy-Powered Matter Meter Mk2)
- (otherwise)
- Remind me what I need to do.
- Use the candy-powered matter meter I mailed you to find ghosts from the Mad King's past. The pages they give you will contain clues to help your search. There may even be riches to be gained.
- I'm on it!
- I'm still searching.
- After completing Mad Mementos
- Have you found any new historical information, <Character name>? I can sense a new breakthrough for Mad King Thorn's biography!
- Remind me what I need to do.
- The phantasmal conditions of Halloween present a unique opportunity to question Mad King Thorn's attendants directly. Try interviewing some of the upper echelon of his court!
- Do I still need to use the matter meter?
- For good or bad, the Lunatic Court is quite tangible during Halloween. I don't think you'll need the matter meter to make contact.
- Got it, thanks.
- I'm on it!
- (If you do not have a Candy-Powered Matter Meter Mk2 in your inventory)
- I seem to have misplaced my matter meter. Can I have another?
- You shouldn't need one anymore, but I like your enthusiasm for the technology! Here, borrow one of the spares.
- Thanks. I'll take better care of this one. (Receives Candy-Powered Matter Meter Mk2)
- I'm still searching.
- After completing Mad Memorial
- You're a legend at the Durmand Priory, <Character name>. Your contribution to history will go down in the annals of our order.
- (In 2021 before entering the Mad King's Labyrinth)
- I came as soon as I got your letter. What's new in the Mad Realm?
- That's what I'm eager to know. And you're just the person to find out! I've heard whispers from visitors about...happenings in the Labyrinth. Travel there and keep your eyes and ears peeled.
- All right, I'll investigate.
- (If you do not have a Candy-Powered Matter Meter Mk2 in your inventory)
- I seem to have misplaced my matter meter. Can I have another? (Same response as after completing Mad Mementos)
- My pleasure. Besides, I got this gorgeous book.
- In 2021 after entering the Mad King's Labyrinth
- Palawa Joko? In the Mad Realm? This could shed a new light on years of research, <Character name>! We've got to know more! Plus, there's the potential threat to Tyria in general...I suppose.
- I agree with at least part of that. What should I do?
- I've got previous notes on one of King Thorn's minions...a "General Kernel." Start there—they must have some idea of what's going on.
- I'm on it.
- Listen. I have a lot of things to worry about, okay?
- In 2021 as part of the Court Duty: All's Mad that Ends Mad achievement
- You have the look of someone who's delved deep, deep into the mysteries of the world and returned with the truth...I hope?
- I've interviewed the responsible courtiers. I'm ready to make my report.
- Magnificent! Let me get my papers... Autoscribe recorder... Okay, begin. On the subject of the new visitor in the Mad Realm...
- It's the real Palawa Joko.
- I see, I see... Can you go into detail?
- After his death, he arrived naturally in the Mad Realm. Eventually.
- Fascinating... And finally, what role, if any, did the Lunatic Court play in this?
- The courtiers gathered necessary relics from around Tyria.
- Marvelous! This summary challenges a number of existing hypotheses on the Mad Realm's structures. Your contribution has been immense as always, <Character name>. Thank you for your diligence!
- And that's the end of that.
- The courtiers enacted a plan in the Mad Realm to prompt Joko's appearance. (same as "The courtiers gathered necessary relics from around Tyria.")
- The courtiers ultimately did nothing that affected this. They're useless! (same as "The courtiers gathered necessary relics from around Tyria.")
- Somehow the Lunatic Court recovered a fragment of his soul. (same as "After his death, he arrived naturally in the Mad Realm. Eventually.")
- Some piece of him was able to avoid death and retreat to the Mad Realm. (same as "After his death, he arrived naturally in the Mad Realm. Eventually.")
- That Palawa Joko is a fake.
- I see, I see... Can you go into detail?
- It's simply an imposter acting out the role of Joko. (same as "After his death, he arrived naturally in the Mad Realm. Eventually.")
- It's just illusion magic, woven to conceal the truth. (same as "After his death, he arrived naturally in the Mad Realm. Eventually.")
- It's a mad spirit, coerced into believing it's Palawa Joko. (same as "After his death, he arrived naturally in the Mad Realm. Eventually.")
- It's Palawa Joko, but only in a sense.
- I see, I see... Can you go into detail?
- It's the Palawa Joko of a different realm in the mists. (same as "After his death, he arrived naturally in the Mad Realm. Eventually.")
- It's leftover fragments of Joko, bound into a... projection of him. (same as "After his death, he arrived naturally in the Mad Realm. Eventually.")
- It's a projection of Joko's psyche previously imprinted on the Mad realm. (same as "After his death, he arrived naturally in the Mad Realm. Eventually.")
- Hold on, I'd like to review my notes.
- I need some time to reassemble my thoughts, hold on.
- In 2023 before beginning The Night Time Stood Still
- Happy Halloween, <Character name>! Another year, another opportunity to catalogue the eccentricities of the Mad Realm. Up for some investigative legwork?
- Hopefully nothing too shocking?
- Readings here seem normal—well, make that a very relative "normal"—but I've heard some chatter about a new development at the clock tower. Could you check it out?
- This sounds dangerous, but for the sake of research, I'll go. Cautiously.
- Sorry, I don't care for clocks or towers.
- Let's circle back on this later. I need to restock my candy hoard.
- After climbing or failing the Stopped Clock Tower
- Stopped? It's...actually stopped? I don't know what that could portend—if anything—but thank you for your contributions. Here's a little treat as compensation for any falling anxiety.
- Thanks! Did you need anything else?
- That's the only brewing crisis afoot this year, but we can't be too cautious when King Thorn is involved. Check in with me if you have any other investigative work ongoing!
- I'll do that. And happy Halloween, Tassi.
Quotes[edit]
- Greets
- Are you having a satisfactory Halloween?
- Halloween or not, there's work to do.
- I have no candy to give.
- Spooky salutations.
- That's an...interesting...costume.
