After The Lost Shores[edit]
- Even though the ancient karka is gone and we have things under control, I'm still not sure that letting the tourists in was the right decision.
- What happened to the guy who provoked the karka in the first place?
- Canach came clean, but escaped during the confusion. The Consortium's lawyers are dragging things out, so he could get off lightly...unless I find him first.
- I have another question.
- What's on your mind?
- I hope he gets what's coming to him.
- What are you doing here?
- I keep an eye on everyone and everything: researchers, Consortium, karka, and the tourists. My mandate is to keep them safe and stop anyone from making things worse.
- I have another question.
- Sounds like a full time job.
- What's being researched on this island?
- Ask Levvi. She's been studying karka and making Captain Magnus's life difficult since before the attack on Lion's Arch.
- I have another question.
- Thanks.
- I agree. Talk to you later.
The Secret of Southsun[edit]
Week 1[edit]
- With everyone at each other's throats and the sudden spike in animal attacks, I need every capable person I can deputize to restore the peace here on Southsun.
- What's got the people here so tense?
- We've got serious friction between the Consortium and its workforce of resettled refugees. I need help protecting them from each other as well as from island's crazed wildlife.
- What was that you said about an increase in animal attacks? (Same as "Why are the animals getting more aggressive?" below)
- I'll see what I can do.
- Why are the animals getting more aggressive?
- The local critters are all riled up, worse than usual. Researcher Levvi is investigating, but in the meantime, I could use some help keeping the bloodshed to a minimum.
- Where can I find Levvi?
- I've marked her location on your map. Tell her to please hurry it up. Belay that—things are tense enough already and I don't want to antagonize Levvi, too. She's the best friend I have around here.
- Thanks, and good luck.
- What's got everyone so tense, aside from the wildlife? (Same as "What's got the people here so tense?" above)
- I'll see what I can do.
- This place sounds dangerous.
- Ambient dialogue
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: Okay, I've got settlers, Consortium bureaucrats, and Captain Magnus, all yelling at me.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: The settlers are getting restless. Plus, the local wildlife is getting frisky, and we all know how that ends.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: Magnus wants it all sorted out before the upcoming festival begins.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: Personally, I'll be happy if we can just keep everyone from killing each other.
- Fight at Pearl Islet
- Aggren Vicegrip: I need out of this place. I hate the food, the water, I hate the air. And the sand? Hate it.
- Consortium Agent: You there! Your break's over. Get back to work.
- Aggren Vicegrip: And I hate that killing that jerk wouldn't matter. They'll have a new jerk in place by morning.
- Aggren Vicegrip: I've been itching to hurt something. You just volunteered.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: You hotheads are only making things worse.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: You can't win. The first thing a Lionguard learns is how to end a brawl.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: Right: any more violence and I'll use all of you to chum the waters of Sawtooth Bay.
- Aggren Vicegrip: Go ahead. I'd rather be shark bait than a prisoner.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: You're not a prisoner. You signed a Consortium contract to be here.
- Aggren Vicegrip: Because there was an emergency. Now the emergency's over, and I want out.
- Aggren Vicegrip: And I don't want Consortium mercenaries on my tail for the rest of my life, waving that stupid contract.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: I'm sorry, but my hands are as tied as yours. You signed it, so you have to stick to it.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: In the meantime, quit stirring up trouble, or you're fish food.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: Sometimes I think this place would fall apart and sink into the sea without the Lionguard.

Week 2[edit]
- Levvi was right–there was a purpose behind the crazed animal attacks. The beasts were goaded into targeting specific Consortium buildings, and I think I know why.
- Where are you going?
- I'm headed to Steampipe Steading, to question a suspect about these animal attacks.
- Got it. Good luck.
- Good luck.
- Ambient Scenes
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: Tell me everything. These buildings seem to be the target. What's inside?
- Subdirector Noll: That information is strictly on a need-to-know basis. And mind your tone. The Consortium is the victim here.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: Fine. Have fun being trampled and eaten until someone who needs to know shows up.
- Subdirector Noll: Wait, wait. Given the circumstances... These are simple storage depots. Tools, supplies, records...
- Inspector Ellen Kiel: Why would wild creatures attack caches of tools, supplies, and records?
- Subdirector Noll: Figuring that out is your job. And just so you understand the stakes–this isn't an isolated incident.
- Subdirector Noll: Our Southsun records on the mainland have also been targeted. Destroyed, in fact.
- Subdirector Noll: The originals here are all that's left. I'm having them collected so we can protect them, but I want Lionguard assurances.
- Subdirector Noll: If the Consortium loses this important asset, the Captain's Council will hear all about your incompetence.
Last Stand at Southsun[edit]
- Before Contractually Obligated
- I think I've figured out a way to deal with these Consortium Contracts. You in?
- Sure, count me in.
- Sorry. Can't help just now.
- After Contractually Obligated
- That was amazing. Did you see Noll's face when his precious contracts blew up?
- It really was. I wish I could see it all over again!
- Ha, he looked ill.
After Last Stand at Southsun[edit]
- At Pearl Islet
- Canach's in custody, but the crazed animals he stirred up are still on a rampage. We're in for the fight of our lives here.
- Good luck, Inspector.
- At Canach's Folly (Starting June 4)
- Researcher Levvi: I still don't know what lasting effect Canach's little scheme will have on those creatures.
- Researcher Levvi: He's already done major damage. And I fear it's not going to be an easy fix.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel (projection): We'll keep an eye on it. You and I are the go-to experts when it comes to this island's wildlife.
- Inspector Ellen Kiel (projection): If whatever it is doesn't work itself out of their systems, we'll make it our priority.
Dragon Bash[edit]
- Default dialogue
- Entry to the stage area is currently restricted.
- Understood. I'll check again later.
- Initial dialogue if player was involved in Secret of Southsun
- Well, if it isn't my friend from Southsun Cove. It's good to see you again.
- Good to see you, too. I was hoping to go inside.
Bazaar of the Four Winds[edit]
- At Bazaar Docks
- You're here, <Character name>. Somehow, that eases my mind. This bazaar has everything needed to attract a criminal crowd. I may go straight to the Sanctum–for my sanity.
- You want the trade agreement, right?
- It's the only way I can win the upcoming election.
- Well, good luck.
- I'll see you later.
Cutthroat Politics[edit]
- At Bazaar Docks
- Hi again. I'm glad to see you here. Gnashblade's a slippery character, so we can't let our guard down for a second. You interested in showing off in the Aspect Arena?
- I'm ready to roll!
- Remind me of the promises you made?
- I'll discount waypoint travel for four weeks, and work with the Fractals team on researching the Thaumanova Reactor explosion. We'll launch an investigation into the Molten Alliance and Aetherblade pirates. Finally, I'll establish a weekly rotation of Southsun Survival, Sanctum Sprint, Keg Brawl, and Crab Toss. I get results!
- Sounds fun.
- (If asura)
- Good luck.
- (If charr)
- I'll think about it.
- (If human)
- Good luck.
- (If norn)
- I'll think about it.
- (If sylvari)
- Good luck.
During Queen's Jubilee[edit]
- I've never been one for politics, but I won't let Magnus down. He backed my council run when few believed I could win. I owe him.
- Congratulations.
During Fractured![edit]
- In Lion's Arch
- I'm glad you're here, <Character name>. I could use some help spreading the word about delivering on my campaign promise to investigate the Thaumanova Reactor disaster.
- What do you want people to know?
- Just the basics: the facility was intended to study chaos magic, but the Inquest and their so-called "specialist," Scarlet, pushed things in dangerous new directions.
- How so?
- They claimed there was a link between the Thaumanova's chaos energy and Elder Dragon energy. They ramped things up past the point of safe operation, and the reactor melted down.
- Anything else?
- Scarlet claimed to have identifies the channels that this magical energy follows as it courses in and around and through the globe. If she's right, it could be a significant breakthrough.
- What's your next step?
- I present my data to the rest of the Captain's Council for discussion. It'll take a while to reach a decision, but rest assured we'll solicit plenty of expert opinions before we act.
- Sounds good. I'll spread the word as best I can.
During Wintersday 2013[edit]
- I hope you're enjoying your time visiting our fair port city. As a newly elected member of the Captain's Council, I welcome you to Lion's Arch.
- (If you completed Fractals of the Mists (story))
- Thanks. At least this place is friendlier than the Thaumanova Reactor.
- It's a place that offers more questions than answers. Dessa's...situation needs more thought, but the Consortium is the important matter here.
- What's the next step?
- I don't think Dessa's working for them, but I'm not sure of the Consortium's connection to the Fractals. I'm not done investigating them. Not at all.
- Take care.
- Good-bye.
- (If you voted for Ellen)
- Thanks, Kiel. Glad to see my vote helped you win the seat.
- And I thank you for your support. I regret that my getting this job was due to Theo Ashford being murdered by Scarlet's goons, but I promise I'll so my best to keep this city safe.
- Good to hear. Take care.
- (If you voted for Gnashblade)
- Huh. I thought a Captain's Councillor had better things to do than be a seasonal greeter. Glad I voted for Evon.
- Just because you voted for him doesn't mean I'm turning my back on what you want. That may be how Gnashblade runs things, but not me.
- Yeah, we'll see.
- (If you voted for both)
- Good job on winning the election. Although, in all fairness, I also voted for both you and Evon.
- I know the election rules were...porous. It's your choice to vote for both of us, but doing so shows a lack of conviction.
- Maybe, but I know someone I voted for won.
- Good-bye.
The Edge of the Mists (release)[edit]
- You and Marjory make a convincing case for Lion's Arch being Scarlet's next big target. Sadly, the rest of the Captain's Council doesn't see it that way. I've tried my best, but they won't budge.
- So they aren't doing anything to prepare for the attack?
- They aren't, but I am. I'll make sure the city isn't totally unprepared. I could do more with full Council backing, but thanks for your warning—it'll save lives when Scarlet comes calling.
- I hope so. When she does come, she's going to hit Lion's Arch as hard as she can.
Battle for Lion's Arch: Aftermath[edit]
- (if character took part in killing Scarlet)
- I'm surprised you're not out celebrating, <Character name>. You'll go down in history as the one who put an end to Scarlet's mad reign and saved Lion's Arch.
- What's next for the city?
- The Captain's Council has been scrambling to assess the damage and figure out what to do next.
- Good luck.
- Good-bye.
- (if character didn't take part in killing Scarlet)
- I won't lie. We got a lot of work ahead of us, but Lion's Arch will come back. It's come back before, and I promise you it will rise again.
- Take care.
