Personally, I use the sword and focus a lot. Blocks and blinds are what keep a guardian alive. 3s isn't much, but it's long enough to catch an attack most of the time. And they can hit groups. Which is why I prefer sword over scepter, since being able to hit multiple enemies is key, in my mind. --JonTheMon 13:24, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

I use sword/torch. I completed all of Orr solo with it. Granted, I haven't tried it in dungeons or WvW, but it's just fine for open world PvE. —Dr Ishmael 13:41, 5 February 2013 (UTC)
