Being able to cast every spell in the universe is useful. And versatile. Mediggo 07:08, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
- Many months later, the engineer has changed and seems most of your concerns may be mended.
- Toolbelt skills is where the engineer shines and gain even more versatility. Hence why there is currently a very thoughtful suggestion to ArenaNet to swap places for the turret's overcharge skill (which destroys the turret and doesn't need to be in the toolbelt) and their toggle skill which are unique and would benefit from the enhanced recharge gained from attribute.
- As for the grenadier (aka kaboom maniac) : grenade kit to provide ranged AoE and also benefit from ballistic laws (instead of projectiles), improved mine kit for knockback defense and dissuasion, throwable med kit for AoE support, and a powerful mortar to further help your allies. The "main" weapon sometimes become a backup instead, and kits the powerhouses. An engineer is like a box of chocolates, you never know what it will be... ^^ -- Leonim [talk·contribs] 19:07, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- The toolbelt skills for everything was one of my favorite changes since the demos when I wrote this--it really increases the power and versatility of "normal" utilities. It also makes elixirs really cool--you get the choice between "selfish" and "selfless" (but weaker) buffs. With the beta weekend in just a couple of days (SO EXCITED), I might just spend a tremendous amount of time playing with this profession. ~Ekko (talk) 21:17, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Ekko, I'm curious about how elixirs will behave with their impredictability (randomness if this ain't an english word), I've seen some interesting uses of shrink and the like, but not of the more mainstream potions.
- And I look forward to hear your impressions about the engineer, as I have a thing for the profession as well... even if I can say that for almost every profession out there, since they each have their appeal, engineers are somewhat iconic and answer my calling from some time now. Maybe we'll be able to server-guest each other this weekend. Anyway, happy engineering! -- Leonim [talk·contribs] 13:10, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
