Images[edit]
Hi, when uploading images could you please put the text {{ArenaNet image|screenshot}} in the summary, or if you forget, edit the page once submitted and add it then. This will mark the image as taken in game, and gives it the correct copyrights.
Also, it would be great if you could name the files in the same way the page is named, e.g. for the page "Random Greatsword", the image would be named "File:Random Greatsword.jpg" (the first image on the page does not need a number after it, but the numbering for the second image would ideally be 2 etc. Thanks for the amazing amount of images you've uploaded today. ^^ --Chieftain Alex 18:36, 7 November 2012 (UTC)
equipment prefix/suffix in page names[edit]
Hello! I notice you create a lot of pages with the full item name, e.g "Carrion Tribal Greatsword". I think the wiki would be cleaner and easier to navigate if we only create pages for the base weapon (in this case, "Tribal Greatsword") and then add variants in a table in the item listing. The prefix is interchangeable and it'd be pretty confusing if every prefix for every weapon had its own listing. If you want, take a look at some of the weapon listings I've been doing for Modniir weapons and crafting weapons to see what I'm thinking of. Nefara 01:25, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hey! Thanks for responding. I realize that some weapons have just the one variation, but if we treat them like the GW1 modifications, the prefix should be ignored. Just like how all of the Pact weapons are actually "Pact Weapon of Force", it clutters up the listing a bit if we refer to all of them like that. I think I'll do a page for the Tribal weapons next and I'll figure something out for ones that just have the single variation. Nefara 01:17, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Following the tradition of GW1W, we should definitely omit suffixes from page names, since the suffix is always given by the rune/sigil/[misc. upgrade component], which can be replaced. Handling of the prefix is less definite, since it is an inherent aspect of the item and cannot be changed, but I wouldn't think there'd be any problem in treating it the same way. —Dr Ishmael 01:39, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
- Hey again, I saw you created a page for the Carrion Tribal Staff. There was already a page called Tribal Staff, so please stick to the naming scheme. Also, when uploading new pics, please only replace ones that are missing particle effects or are not already done... preview pics are fine as long as they are cropped and aren't missing effects. They even have neutral lighting, a standardized camera angle and a neutral pose so in a lot of ways they're preferable to in-game shots unless they're missing effects or have clipping issues. Thanks!
- Ok if preview screens do just fine then that would save me alot of work. I only uploaded my ingame pics because it was requested by other players so if you don't need them then I won't waste my time uploading it Dulfy 07:27, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
- The big issue with the preview window is that it is very small. You can get much higher detail with it equipped on your character (as long as you aren't an asura). —Dr Ishmael 13:31, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
